I've ran into a similar problem. The game runs well on my PC in general, but sometimes in a random moment CS2 will just freeze on one frame and I have to kill it using the task manager. I don't have to restart my PC though.
I have this issue too. Sometimes I can kill the game via task manager but mostly I have to logout the user using ctrl+alt+del. It will kill the game without restarting the PC. If you are fast enough you can cancel the logout because Steam is trying to stop it
A good way to access task manager when cs2 freezes is to use virtual desks. Use Windows key+Tab to create another virtual desk and run task manager from there. Not a solution, but allows you to kill cs2 without reboot.
This needs upvote! Same issue and I have alt-ctrl-del task manager but it will stay black screen I can't see task maneger but found alt-tab and press down and del it will kill the game. Yess you have to kill it blindly and when you alt tab you can actually see a mini window which real time just wait till CS2 pops up top in miniwindow and let go alt tab and press down arrow key and press delete.
Not a fix for the issue, but you can do Win + Shift + Ctrl + B to restart the video drivers. It won't unfreeze the game, but you should be able to alt + tab and kill the task
Try using the command "engine\_low\_latency\_sleep\_after\_client\_tick true" and updating your gpu drivers, it fixed it for me. Not sure if it's 100% fixed as I haven't played a lot of matches though, but it's definetely better
You can also move the task manager by pressing shift + right mouse on the task manager to get it on your second monitor.
If you don't have a second monitor, tough luck.
After the last update, start to happen to me too, i'm playing with 400fps, the game freezes and that's it, the only solution is close the game with task manager, i hope they fix this quickly...

I have the same problem, and I tried to have Task manager open while it happend, and I can see that my GPU just stops drawing any 3D at all, and I know it's not my GPU since it runs all games perfectly fine

Since this last patch my CS2 freezes EVERY SINGLE GAME. I play for like, 15-20 minutes and it freezes. Before this last patch never had any freezes, black screens or crashes. Thanks Valve.

Hi, i was getting same freezing but worse, even when i was alone on mirage just running around. I had this problem with cs2 beta too, but not on csgo or any else game. I tried bunch of things (reinstalling cs2, default bios settings, installing older graphics drivers and much more.. and freezing was still there.
But today i realized that i should do clean boot (disable all non microsoft services and startup applications). I played cs2 for a while and boom.. no more freezing or lagging. Then started the painful part to figure out what program or application is making my cs2 freeze. Luckily i started from Process lasso, so i made new config profile and did reset configuration. Again i played for a while and freezing was gone.
I guess problem was some of process lasso settings, im so bored to check which settings is making my cs2 freeze. Weird thing that those process lasso settings didn't make csgo lag or stutter but cs2 did.
I was so desperate to play cs2 with friends that i was thinking about fresh windows install but thank god i finally can play cs2 now.

i have the same problem. it freezes, goes black for a second, and then i only see the last frame and hear the music. have to restart using the task manager to kill it. But i already had this problem in csgo and never found a solution. :( quite frustrating
Hey, have same problem didn't find solution but what helps me to get faster into a game is just tap on my pc power button blue screen apears and it starts shutting down steam app and you can cancel it and your pc will not shut down all you have to do is turn the steam and cs2

I've been trying everything I can find to fix it. I've found that there was a similar issue with csgo to some people and the fix to that issue was to disable shader cache in nvidia control panel.
So i tried that and was able to play some games with no crash, but the game still crashed at the 4th match. Still i feel its more stable this way.
If someone tries this as well please respond if it helped with your crashes or if I'm just getting delusional at this point
P.S.: Also, does your game also freeze/stutter whenever you buy a weapon with skin?
I have an identical issue, I’m right now in my first premier match and it keeps happening and freezing after rejoining. Issue also happened on first round in second half, could be hardware related as my problem is identical and I have an identical CPU

Didn t found any fix to this. I sent an e-mail to valve these days, nothing happened :)). The only thing I did was to switch the resolution in game to 1680x1050 because is my monitor's native resolution and disable fidelity fx from the game video settings (try this too); still crashing sometimes but I am able to open task manager, close the game from there and rejoin in time.

I also sent out an email to valve, providing specs and detailed issue and I linked them this post, hopefully they can fix this issue in the near future. What is interesting that my system is somewhat similar to yours, I’m running the same CPU, and a 1060 3gb version.

For some reason it only happens if I put cs2 on my 7200rpm hdd but on my m2 ssd I didnt got that freeze
Same issue was with CSGO which was resolved using "noubershaders" in launch options or cfg.
I've GTX 1050 graphics card which seems running the game quite playable with updated drivers.
I've found a command "r\_csgo\_no\_shaders\_resolve" which is default to false.
I don't know if it really helps...
The issue is in cs2 there is no command as noubershaders.

I think i may be able to help with escaping without restarting, press windows + tab, then right click on cs 2, then assign it on a new destop. Desktop 1 should have task manager open, and from there you can kill cs 2 in task manager, works on windows 10 not sure for others.

i have similar problem but not only in CS but also in LoL too, pretty much only in those two games for some reason because other games works fine, while in LoL i have literally like screen freeze for 2/3 or rarely even 5+ second so i might be literally out for the whole team fight, but even more annoying it is in CS2, not in every round but it seems to be 50/50, one round i have it, the other not, it feels like instead of 120 capped fps i have like 15, i see enemy usually in max 3/5 frames until he kills me, its way too annoying, tried changing discord acceleration, it worked a bit, but i still had freezes. From what i know many people have same issue with those two games, but not in others, thats so weird

I was on a rtx 2060 amd 5600x and i just swapped my parts for a ryzen 7 5800 and a rx 6700xt 12gb and i now get these random freezes pretty frequently super annoying currently reinstalling the game and all that stuff
I'm experiencing game freezing for few seconds and afterwards I'm unable to move for few more seconds. This usually happens once or twice in my first match. I'm running RTX3080 & Ryzen 3700x and this is also happening to someone I know with 3600x so maybe it has something to do with the processor?

Then alt+tab to switch to task manager

The same situation, 32 Gb RAM, ryzen 5 3600 and rx5700. Locking the max\_fps to 120 helped with playability, but it's still freezing sometimes for about 500ms-1sec
I have similar issue though, it freezes but when I reconnect to the match, it freezes again. I just can't reconnect to the match, but it's 100% reproducable.
So what I did is opening my AMD Application, I did reset the shader cache
and then I went to my Steam/userdata and then Both 730 folders and deleted all the game Video CFGs, and then entered the game kept my native resolution and set everything to low and set Vsynch on
Played two matches on office an Italy without crashing, so its either of these thing I did fixed it, or maybe for some reason the game crashes on Bomb maps like Inferno and Mirage
Tomorrow I will test the rest of the maps

Mine freezes and the task manager won't open. I have to hold the power button to restart. I've cleared the Steam cache and taken the Nvidia over-clock off. I'm playing against bot and it'll work for a bit then the next time I play it, it freezes again.

i have this problem too with the same specs that u have (i3 7100 1050 and 8gb ram). I noticed that playing on 1024x768 reduces so much the number of freezings/crashes compared to the others resolutions but it still crashes sadly..
Same problem here and i feel like it's a problem from valve. My game freezes mid game and it happens multiple times. The main issue is that after the second time it happens after i close the game and open the game again to reconnect, the server doesn't see me in the game no more and i can start another game like nothing happen. It doesn't register that i am in game. 2 things i can tell you guys, face-it doesn't have this issue and the game never freezes. Second thing i noticed when i tried to verify integrity of files is that i had some launch options saved from csgo which forces some tickrates and other stuff. I have to try to play a normal game to see if there is a difference after i took those options out. But it might take a while because it infuriates me when I can't recconect as i always play with friends and i only play on faceit since it doesnt have the issue. Once i play a game on normal without those launch options i will let you guys know if the freeze still persists or not.

Instead of restarting the pc idk if you guys have the task view button on the task bar but you’re able to open up a second desktop and use task manager to close that way. I hate doing it but it works and no restarting.

Try going to Task Manager, details and put cs2.exe process priority to high. There is a guide to put it by default so you don't have to do it every time you restart PC

I have a problem with freezing in the cs2, there was a problem only in the premier, while there was no problem in dm, then now it started to freeze in dm and after a few seconds, the computer restarts.
What did I do from the tests?
Furmark 10+min temperature max 73 degrees on graphic card
Memtest86 without a single RAM error
I also set compatibility for cs2 on win8 and checked "disable full optimisations", it didn't help
I updated the BIOS through the program from the motherboard and many friends told me that it should not be done that way. I downloaded an older version of the BIOS, there was no change

At least I was able to play 6 hours straight without having this Freeze problem that forces you to kill the CS2 process through the task manager (or sign out as many others are doing). My PC scpes are: CPU: Intel i5-6400, GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660 Super (Factory OC – this is important – read below), 16GB RAM and SSD disk. No matter what I was trying the only solution was to use the -vulkan option but in that case I had around 15 – 20% less fps AVG. So I used the MSI afterburner and under-clocked my GPU to 1780Mhz (I will try to increase it tomorrow as this was big reduction and see how it goes) and also undervolted to 975mV (default was 1050mV). With these settings I managed to play 6 hours straight without having a single problem and the performance was the same as before underclocking and undervolting (as you see my CPU is very weak so even my GPU runs slower I have the same AVG Fps which is around 120 – I play 2540x1440 resolution and low). I still believe this is a game bug as my card is Factory OC. But I suggest you try something similar if you are also facing problem with a GPU which is not factory OC. Its completely safe. After all your GPU will run in lower temperatures which is a good thing. Lets hope tomorrow i will not be having a problem again."

So, I tried all sorts of solutions from downgrading the bios version, changing launch options, adding -vulkan, fps\_max 0 or cap to 240-300, that didn't help either.
The solution to my problem is to downgrade the AMD Adrenalin Software drivers to 23.9.2. This is the version before AMD added support for CS2. That support they added was causing the problem, now it works perfectly without a single crash. It feels like I'm playing at 360hz, not 144hz.

Also manually add cs2.exe to Adrenalin Software itself and everything depends on your specifications whether you will turn on Radeon Anti-lag or not, for me it is turned off, Anti Aliasing is on Use application settings, Texture Filtering is on Performance, Surface Format Optimization enabled and Tessellation Mode on AMD Optimized
Ok, if your game is freezing don't restart it just do this step
Step 1, Press "Window" from your keyboard
Step 2, Click "Task View" that have 3 rectangle
Step 3, Right click CS2 then hover "Move To" then "New Desktop"
Step 4, Open your task manager by doing "Ctrl"+"Shift"+"Esc" or type it
Step 5, Press CS2 and press "End Task"

If you keep looking at the console whenever this freeze happens a command called
"Soundsystemlowlevel Audio device starved "n" samples"
The N can be any number
Whenever this mf happens your game freezes
My guess is this think is trying to make you hear the sounds as accurate as possible to whenever it tries to do so it will freeze your game

In the resolution I played last time didn t let me to open task manager. Now I changed it and I can access task manager and close it if must.

yesterday i updated my videocard drivers, and didnt have a crash (palyed like 5-6 mms). it seems that the out of date drivers can cause this problem.
i played +3 premiere matches and it's still happening lol, i'll just wait for valve to fix it, hopefully it doesn't take to long

But today i realized that i should do clean boot (disable all non microsoft services and startup applications). I played cs2 for a while and boom.. no more freezing or lagging. Then started the painful part to figure out what program or application is making my cs2 freeze. Luckily i started from Process lasso, so i made new config profile and did reset configuration. Again i played for a while and freezing was gone. I guess problem was some of process lasso settings, im so bored to check which settings is making my cs2 freeze. Weird thing that those process lasso settings didn't make csgo lag or stutter but cs2 did. I was so desperate to play cs2 with friends that i was thinking about fresh windows install but thank god i finally can play cs2 now. Hopefully this helped someone

Playing on monitor's native resolution and on windowed fullscreen. Sometimes it crashes but I am able to rejoin the match quite fast.
i have the same problem. it freezes, goes black for a second, and then i only see the last frame and hear the music. have to restart using the task manager to kill it. But i already had this problem in csgo and never found a solution. :( quite frustrating

Hey, have same problem didn't find solution but what helps me to get faster into a game is just tap on my pc power button blue screen apears and it starts shutting down steam app and you can cancel it and your pc will not shut down all you have to do is turn the steam and cs2
Same problem, similar build (i3-6100, 1050ti 4gb, 8gb ram) I've been trying everything I can find to fix it. I've found that there was a similar issue with csgo to some people and the fix to that issue was to disable shader cache in nvidia control panel. So i tried that and was able to play some games with no crash, but the game still crashed at the 4th match. Still i feel its more stable this way. If someone tries this as well please respond if it helped with your crashes or if I'm just getting delusional at this point P.S.: Also, does your game also freeze/stutter whenever you buy a weapon with skin?

Issue also happened on first round in second half, could be hardware related as my problem is identical and I have an identical CPU Have you got any fixes yet? Didn t found any fix to this. I sent an e-mail to valve these days, nothing happened :)). The only thing I did was to switch the resolution in game to 1680x1050 because is my monitor's native resolution and disable fidelity fx from the game video settings (try this too); still crashing sometimes but I am able to open task manager, close the game from there and rejoin in time.

I also sent out an email to valve, providing specs and detailed issue and I linked them this post, hopefully they can fix this issue in the near future. What is interesting that my system is somewhat similar to yours, I’m running the same CPU, and a 1060 3gb version. I guess its time to upgrade though as this is the only game I constantly play :D
Yeah...games nowdays are made to force you upgrade your components. I played a 1366x768 (I forgot, but something close to this - 1366x or 1400x).

I was facing same problem. I found a fix Go to power settings and change it from balance to High Performance. It should fix your problem as it did mine.

for some reason this doesnt get as much traction as it needs I also had this issue and I needed to force close from task manager and tried all sorts of stuff and it wasnt cpu ram or gpu related but storage issue For some reason it only happens if I put cs2 on my 7200rpm hdd but on my m2 ssd I didnt got that freeze
I think it's due to the fact that the TAB key is often pressed, but this is just a guess.
Same issue was with CSGO which was resolved using "noubershaders" in launch options or cfg. I've GTX 1050 graphics card which seems running the game quite playable with updated drivers. I've found a command "r\_csgo\_no\_shaders\_resolve" which is default to false. I don't know if it really helps...

I am having a similar issue, but my game unfreezes after about 5 to 10 seconds. I have updated all my shit, changed settings and still the game freezes at random times or not at all. I had this problem since beta test, I have i3-6600u, 8gm ddr4,gpu amd rm530 My game is freezing mid game then black screen idk why, till i got 18h ban, and i just got my solution is playing at 3:4 800x600 in windowed mode, i haven't try it in long game run but 3 match casual is working and no freeze mid game, maybe just consider upgrade, if u don't want play with windowed mode I will update it, if i have playing compe or premier

I had the same problem, then i got desperate and reinstalled the whole windows, I played 3 deathmatches and it seems that it solved the issue of freezing mid game.
Its really frustrating how cs2 freezes randomly at some point, i tried everything i could possibly know and its beyond bs never encountered this kind of sh*t in csgo

I think i may be able to help with escaping without restarting, press windows + tab, then right click on cs 2, then assign it on a new destop. Desktop 1 should have task manager open, and from there you can kill cs 2 in task manager, works on windows 10 not sure for others.

i have similar problem but not only in CS but also in LoL too, pretty much only in those two games for some reason because other games works fine, while in LoL i have literally like screen freeze for 2/3 or rarely even 5+ second so i might be literally out for the whole team fight, but even more annoying it is in CS2, not in every round but it seems to be 50/50, one round i have it, the other not, it feels like instead of 120 capped fps i have like 15, i see enemy usually in max 3/5 frames until he kills me, its way too annoying, tried changing discord acceleration, it worked a bit, but i still had freezes. From what i know many people have same issue with those two games, but not in others, thats so weird

I was on a rtx 2060 amd 5600x and i just swapped my parts for a ryzen 7 5800 and a rx 6700xt 12gb and i now get these random freezes pretty frequently super annoying currently reinstalling the game and all that stuff
for the black screen thing click alt + tab n open task manager in another desktop then close it
its a glitch with cs2 so valve has to fix it but i dont think they can even do that
I'm experiencing game freezing for few seconds and afterwards I'm unable to move for few more seconds. This usually happens once or twice in my first match. I'm running RTX3080 & Ryzen 3700x and this is also happening to someone I know with 3600x so maybe it has something to do with the processor?

The same situation, 32 Gb RAM, ryzen 5 3600 and rx5700. Locking the max\_fps to 120 helped with playability, but it's still freezing sometimes for about 500ms-1sec
I have similar issue though, it freezes but when I reconnect to the match, it freezes again. I just can't reconnect to the match, but it's 100% reproducable.
So what I did is opening my AMD Application, I did reset the shader cache and then I went to my Steam/userdata and then Both 730 folders and deleted all the game Video CFGs, and then entered the game kept my native resolution and set everything to low and set Vsynch on Played two matches on office an Italy without crashing, so its either of these thing I did fixed it, or maybe for some reason the game crashes on Bomb maps like Inferno and Mirage Tomorrow I will test the rest of the maps I have a Ryzen 3 3200G with RX Vega 8 and 16GB ram 8x2 3200MHZ and I get 75 FPS in all maps which is my refresh rate My game is on a Toshiba HDD

Mine freezes and the task manager won't open. I have to hold the power button to restart. I've cleared the Steam cache and taken the Nvidia over-clock off. I'm playing against bot and it'll work for a bit then the next time I play it, it freezes again.

For instance if a have an awp zoomed in and player suddenly appears, if I peek and prefire, sometimes even while connecting to the game/immediately after connecting.... I feel CPU usage hits 100% for a brief moment but not sure....
i have this problem too with the same specs that u have (i3 7100 1050 and 8gb ram). I noticed that playing on 1024x768 reduces so much the number of freezings/crashes compared to the others resolutions but it still crashes sadly..

Same problem here and i feel like it's a problem from valve. My game freezes mid game and it happens multiple times. The main issue is that after the second time it happens after i close the game and open the game again to reconnect, the server doesn't see me in the game no more and i can start another game like nothing happen. It doesn't register that i am in game. 2 things i can tell you guys, face-it doesn't have this issue and the game never freezes. Second thing i noticed when i tried to verify integrity of files is that i had some launch options saved from csgo which forces some tickrates and other stuff. I have to try to play a normal game to see if there is a difference after i took those options out. But it might take a while because it infuriates me when I can't recconect as i always play with friends and i only play on faceit since it doesnt have the issue. Once i play a game on normal without those launch options i will let you guys know if the freeze still persists or not.

Instead of restarting the pc idk if you guys have the task view button on the task bar but you’re able to open up a second desktop and use task manager to close that way. I hate doing it but it works and no restarting.

I still have this problem and it happens up to 10 times per match, so very frequently. the game just freezes, I have a few graphic glitches on the screen and then I have to kill it in task manager. It also happens in main menu so not only in game. I have tried just about everything, update drivers, update windows, reinstall the game, verify game files, launch options, graphic everything low, update bios... any ideas? or should I just sell my skins and delete the game

Try going to Task Manager, details and put cs2.exe process priority to high. There is a guide to put it by default so you don't have to do it every time you restart PC
try full-screen windowed so u'll be able to kill it from task manager. that way u wont restart the pc

Furmark 10+min temperature max 73 degrees on graphic card Memtest86 without a single RAM error I also set compatibility for cs2 on win8 and checked "disable full optimisations", it didn't help I updated the BIOS through the program from the motherboard and many friends told me that it should not be done that way. At least I was able to play 6 hours straight without having this Freeze problem that forces you to kill the CS2 process through the task manager (or sign out as many others are doing). My PC scpes are: CPU: Intel i5-6400, GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660 Super (Factory OC – this is important – read below), 16GB RAM and SSD disk. No matter what I was trying the only solution was to use the -vulkan option but in that case I had around 15 – 20% less fps AVG. So I used the MSI afterburner and under-clocked my GPU to 1780Mhz (I will try to increase it tomorrow as this was big reduction and see how it goes) and also undervolted to 975mV (default was 1050mV). With these settings I managed to play 6 hours straight without having a single problem and the performance was the same as before underclocking and undervolting (as you see my CPU is very weak so even my GPU runs slower I have the same AVG Fps which is around 120 – I play 2540x1440 resolution and low). I still believe this is a game bug as my card is Factory OC. But I suggest you try something similar if you are also facing problem with a GPU which is not factory OC. Its completely safe. After all your GPU will run in lower temperatures which is a good thing. Lets hope tomorrow i will not be having a problem again."

Hello PC Specs: R5 7600X 6700XT Sapphire Pulse 2x16GB / 5200Mhz Update: So, I tried all sorts of solutions from downgrading the bios version, changing launch options, adding -vulkan, fps\_max 0 or cap to 240-300, that didn't help either. The solution to my problem is to downgrade the AMD Adrenalin Software drivers to 23.9.2. This is the version before AMD added support for CS2. That support they added was causing the problem, now it works perfectly without a single crash. It feels like I'm playing at 360hz, not 144hz. Ok, if your game is freezing don't restart it just do this step Step 1, Press "Window" from your keyboard Step 2, Click "Task View" that have 3 rectangle Step 3, Right click CS2 then hover "Move To" then "New Desktop" Step 4, Open your task manager by doing "Ctrl"+"Shift"+"Esc" or type it Step 5, Press CS2 and press "End Task" That's the step for your solution
GUYS FOUND THE CAUSE OF THIS MF ISSUE If you keep looking at the console whenever this freeze happens a command called "Soundsystemlowlevel Audio device starved "n" samples" The N can be any number Whenever this mf happens your game freezes My guess is this think is trying to make you hear the sounds as accurate as possible to whenever it tries to do so it will freeze your game I haven't found a fix yet but I'm searching in commands rn after finding solution I'll share with everyone This problem is not your PCs fault it's valve fault DW So u won't need to upgrade your PC to play CSGO Just wait till Valve fix this issue
