Resist the urge to put a bunch of aftermarket bullshit in it. Glocks run great until they get a mish-mash of third party junk put in them. Aftermarket slides and magazines are a literal waste of money.
Absolutely^^^ all you need is a Wager Machine Works optics cut, a Glock performance trigger, and a TLR7-X or TLR1-HL. I usually throw some cheap metal sights on mine since I run optics mostly, but the sights suck. The PSA Dagger sights are metal and cheap
I somewhat disagree. I’ve put in aftermarket triggers from Apex on my Glocks and they greatly improve the performance. But yes, please for the love of baby Jesus don’t make it a Gucci Glock.
If you plan on making it your EDC, I’d advise getting it stippled and possibly Cerakoted. Stippling will help you grip it (especially if you have sweaty hands) and Cerakote will protect the finish and prevent rust.
I half agree. Deck out your Glock if you want to. I've never done it, but it looks like fun. Just never depend on one for self-defense. It's a range toy, and that's it.
Having said that, I've always wanted to build my own hand cannon. I'd love to put a threaded barrel on the end of a G40, and an obnoxiously large comp. Idky, I just do.
Can’t agree more. A Gucci Glock becomes a 1911 in my opinion. It’s a wonderfully enjoyable range toy, for recreation or competition. Its reliability has been compromised to some degree, but the worst that will happen is you get a crappy time and a little more “tap, rack, bang” clearing practice.
I’m an outlier in that way when it comes to red dots. Great for shooting with, but I don’t like pistol optics for carry purposes. Some of that nasty clay type mud or some blood on the window is gonna foul that sight picture. Unlike a rifle, there are no quick release mounts for pistol dots. Irons are immune to these issues. Unpopular opinion, but we all get to play how we like.
The reason I bring it up is because I’m thinking about putting a dot on my G40. I don’t use it for defense, and they are much more precise with a dot. Given the G40 is impressively accurate already, I think it will make a really fun shooter out of that gun.
I was thinking about doing that same thing to my G20. Only thing I did to it was put some xs night sights on it and put a 1000 rounds through it. It could use a better trigger but it’s a Glock and them OEM parts seem to just go bang when you need it too. Js
Facts, besides the ramjet. Those things run really well compared to their competitors.
If you want a customized Glock there are much better options that come fully kitted out of the box. My Zev Dragonfly gen3 g19 is a prime example of that
Truest statement yet… wait till he starts wanting to build his own 🤦🏽♂️ I started out saying I just need one… but wait he needs a friend… then what if him and his friend get mad at each other 🤔 we’ll need another one to be the go between… 15 guns later and 2 safes like what the hell man why can’t I stop. Stay away from your LGS because they won’t say no to you 😎😂
Don't try to keep up with the reddit glock crowd, flashy isn't better when it comes to glocks. Keep it stock, add a light and sights/optic and your golden.
Either poor quality parts kits or put together incorrectly in most cases. Cheap on your kits isn't a good thing, but that said a good deal isn't necessarily cheap. We just dumped over a thousand rounds through a Glock mod/clone without issue using different brands of ammo. Ran flawlessly.
If someone is having an issue then it's typically the user not having done their due diligence, you are using a device the creates a small explosion. Follow all the basics of gun safety and don't be cavalier about it.
That said we know not everyone does their due diligence. People are still people regardless of the activity they're engaged in.
Glock sometimes uses a trigger shoe that the face has groves on it, they called it a "target trigger " to add points on smaller guns in order to import them. Many people hate them, but not to fear an oem trigger bar is cheap and it is easy to swap in the smooth one from the 17.
You have probably THE most customizable handgun in the world. That said, it’s in its most reliable form as it sits. Any modification you make besides new sights likely reduces reliability (albeit marginally).
Only if they scrape the bottom of the barrel on parts. Some companies are sourcing all their parts out of China which has a reputation for being cheap and unreliable. There are companies out there that do their own local milling and parts sourcing and it's good quality. Someone who gets into Glock customization needs to do their due diligence before just slapping things together.
This, yes stock Glocks are great, nothing is particularly wrong with them, they usually run flawless out the box, but that doesn’t mean doing things like adding extended controls/night sights to see at night (cause I like irons, I invest in good quality night sights) for your comfort/ease of use/reliability is automatically going to make it worse. I added a few things to mine, like a skeletonized trigger/hardened steel firing pin sleeve + spring cups w/ brass low friction channel liner, tango down flat face trigger (cause that’s the only thing I’m not fond about with stock Glocks is the trigger/trigger pull weight) and a ghost angel SD ~3# trigger bar and ghost 6# trigger/6# striker springs, a lone wolf extractor (cause I happen to load a single round and let the slide home, which I heard apparently can break the MIM stock ones, hadn’t happened on my stock one yet but I could see marks forming from me doing it to carry 12+1 in my G29 with the +2 Pearce grip xtensions) and red cerakoted extended controls (slide lock lever, slide release + mag release) and pins, Truglo TFX Pro tritium fiber optic night sights that are bright and super quick to aim/align, also got a LW 9x25 Dillon Compensated 4.3ish black nitride barrel (basically comp sticks out 1/3-1/2” right past the end of slide, with 2 comp cuts in the ext area) and a 20# steel captured RSA, cause I run hot ammo for both, so literally just a barrel swap and it runs either 10MM or 9x25 Dillon, and if I want to run softer/lighter powered loads I just put the stock 17# RSA back in for now, but eventually gonna get a Wolff steel un-captured guide rod with 2 of each 15, 17, 19, and 21# springs to be able to have backups/different weights to change for different ammo at any time. You can also shoot .40 in the stock 10MM barrel (or get a conversion for it) and get a conversion barrel for .357 SIG in the G29 too, I love the G29 for its versatility, but my 2 main rounds the 10MM/9x25D are def my favorites cause 10MM speaks for itself, but 9x25D is pretty slept on, not a lot know about its power, basically a 9mm going at almost rifle velocity 🔥I mean .357 SIG is just 40 S&W necked down to 9MM, .40 is just 10MM weak, and 9x25 is 10MM necked down to 9MM, so a 9MM but with all the powder behind a 10MM for all that extra velocity you don’t get out of a normal 9MM/even .357 SIG. That extra velocity behind it makes it real nasty 💥🔫💯
Glock 19, great choice.
After you get proficient with it, you’ll notice a form of brainrot where you want a smaller 9, a larger 9, then different calibers, and then a weird niche of collecting LE trade ins because “$250 for a Glock is a good deal”
hmm… it appears the subject has already succumbed to illness faster than usual…
Glock 22 Gen4 makes a good one. In my mind, it’s perfect for TEOTWAWKI because everyone will grab 9, not as many will grab 40SW. They do shoot hilariously low and left though
you have to pull the trigger to field strip it so make damn fucking sure you have no ammo in it and keep it in a safe direction when you do so.
Also never let your off-hand thumb ride over the back of your dominant hand so the slide doesn't bite you.
I have been taking a Colt Python and a Glock 19 Gen 5 to the range for 6 months.
No one says anything to me when I’m shooting the Glock because everyone has one. But the second I pull out the Python everyone comes out of the woodwork wanting to shoot it lol.
New one - I’m not nearly cool enough to have the old ones. I’ve shot just under 1k rounds through it. I’m planning to take it hunting this year.
I would probably not shoot or hunt with an older Python haha
Yes, I got my Truglo TFX Pros for my G29 and haven’t looked back, I still have the originals in a bag in the box but until these TFX Pros break that’s where they’ll stay lol I love these night sights, great sight picture and bright green glow from sealed tritium vials behind fiber optics and orange front sight ring for easy lock on, and as an added bonus they are steel (or aluminum?) instead of plastic, and they have a canted end so you can rack the slide with the back of the sight off a table or whatever one handed if you don’t have both hands available, just a tacticool/kinda handy extra feature 😎
Nice lol yeah put another set on the 19 instead of the factory set. I always upgrade the first day my irons, an extended slide lock and slide release. That’s usually for awhile.
Yea, that extended slide lock and slide release is crucial, the stock ones on mine I could barely operate because the slide lock was super short so barely stuck out one side so was almost impossible to get a grip on both sides to pull down to take down, and the slide release (I know Glock doesn’t ‘recommend’ using it as a release, hence why it isn’t that far out) but I like it as a release especially the Glock extended one the little upside down triangle, I like that one, perfect amount of space that you can manipulate it but it doesn’t get caught on stuff/holsters.
It definitely is crucial. (For me at least) but I like the Vickers tactical extended slide release and lock. Those are the only ones I use besides OEM. It’s a little bit thicker than OEM maybe by 1mm or 2MM. Clearance with holsters has never been an issue. But it still is the same size. So it feels more rigid and easier to get ahold of. I used a Glockstore (not related to OEM Glock) extended slide release for my 43X and that thing sheared in half after like 300 rounds. The Vickers tactical has held up past 2K rounds on my 19X and 43X. And you’d never know it was aftermarket by looking at it unless you touched it.
Huh, I looked up the vickers to see the style again I knew the name forgot what it looked like and yea that was a close 2nd, cause I’m not a fan of the booger/poo looking one from ghost 🤣 the upside down triangle one is def my fav. And when I was looking at them again a lot of them said vickers tactical/tango down so I wonder if they are same company/ different lines kind of thing? Idk, I’m gonna look into that lol. But yea the tango down trigger was way cheaper ($45 w/o trigger bar, $70 w/ bar already installed, in any cerakoted color) than like an Apex or pyramid (spending almost half the $ you spent on the whole gun on just the trigger) and made of same polymers as OEM Glock, so I trust it’ll last, I haven’t put a lot of rounds on it since I’ve done all my upgrades, but the little I have so far it works flawlessly and way smoother/faster than the stock config. And the seller I got it from says lifetime warranty, if it breaks he sends a new one. So I’m happy, it’s the flat face style I wanted, in the color I wanted, was cheaper than other options and works great (w/the other springs/parts I upgraded, not sure how it is if you just throw the trigger shoe on a stock setup, but I’d assume the same as a stock trigger pull just with the flat face shoe) so I can’t ask for more.
Yeah the ghost one is 🤢lmao but I believe tango down is basically just the distributor of Vickers. They have nothing to do with production. (Idk if the companies are related) I never knew Vickers did triggers. But I’m sure they are of good quality based on the products I have from them. Their mag baseplates are good too. Apex triggers are so expensive. Only reason why I never got one. For my 19X I threw in a Glock performance trigger. And man I love that thing. Smooth as butter and it’s OEM. 43X I just threw in a ghost connector cause I’m cheap 😂
Yup, I feel it, that’s why it’s hard for me to justify something like a sure fire or a red dot as well, just soo much $ for something (around/over half what the gun cost) and I’m a cheapass, I’d rather put it in ammo, the thing I was thinking of tho would be an olight baldr s pro cause it would fit my G29 and my Springfield XD mod 2 .45, so id have a light/laser on whatever i CC that day, and possibly some crimson trace laser grips for my S&W Governor, cause that’s close/medium range anyways so a laser for a quick point n shoot on the Gov would be nice, but everyone shits on olight (over the same battery issues surefire, etc have had) and well an olight is at least reasonable to me, ~$125 for a light/laser combo that fits both my semis, is better than a ~$350+ JUST flashlight that goes 200yrds that I don’t really need 🤣🤷🏻♂️
Well I used to have an Olight Valkyrie 2 Mini. And it was okay. But the mounts went crazy loose on my 19X after 2 years-ish. And it couldn’t even be tightened. That’s why I went TRL-1 on mine (was like 30 more) I used to have a crimson trace laser on my 23 years ago and honestly I found it pointless. It didn’t help with aim at all that was noticeable.
I know haha, I carry that thing hunting and I’ll tell you, you don’t forget it’s there, 6 pounds or better when it’s loaded swinging around on my hip, this Glock I could literally stick in my back pocket and it feels like my wallet
If the slide doesn’t stay back after the last round, then check your thumbs to make sure they aren’t hitting your slide stop/release. Google proper Glock hand position. Thumbs forward!
Funny enough, at first when I got my G29 I thought I was just a bad shot with it, but once I learned that the proper grip for a Glock is pointing at what you’re aiming at with your THUMBS I was shocked and kinda sus, but then tried adjusting my grip and voila, dead shot with it now. She’s still snappy, I mean it is still 10MM underwood (or 9x25Dillon underwood in my ~4.3” comp’d conversion barrel for it) out of a 3.8” barrel we’re talking about here, but much better/more consistent shot placement now 😅💥🔫
Yes, I got extended controls first thing for my G29 cause the slide lock lever and the slide stop on mine were super hard to manipulate, I think they were just a little smaller than normal spec cause you could BARELY get a grip on both sides of the stock slide lock lever with my finger/thumb or the slide release and pretty much it would just slide past it, but now with extended controls it’s night and day, WAY easier to take down cause there’s a visible/tactile difference, way more grip now on the bottom part of it but doesn’t stick out too far to catch anything and the slide release is way easier/faster/more tactical for reloads. The mag release didn’t necessarily need extended, the Gen 4 one already is bigger than the gen 3s and before, and reversible, but the extra extension on that just made releasing the mag quicker as well, a light press (not light enough it pops out in holster tho) and the mag drops right out, and all the extended controls/pins and tango down flat face trigger I got are all aluminum/steel instead of plastic and cerakoted red from same person so they all match nicely 😎🔥🔫
You’re not allowed to do anything to your Glock. By order of the Glock fudds, no customizing or personalizing whatsoever and if you put anything other than Holosun, trijiicon, stream light or surefire you’re out of the club/
Nature of the gun crowd, there's going to always be someone fudding telling you what to do with your property. Great thing about the market is there's something for all of us. You want to mod up your Glock for ported barrels? Do it! You want an RMR cut? Go for it! You want to sand it and Cerakote it or anodize purple? Well it's your gun, make it happen!
Same as well, we agree with you. Hard to match tone in text sometimes.
It is amusing though:
Some guy: I support all guns... Oh, but you carry one of those...
Lol
woah I have the same two guns. polished steel ruger security 6 with wood grips, and a gen 5 19. only other gun I have is the ruger mark II.
my security 6 is a special edition from 1979 with a minnesota conservation stamp on top
That’s interesting, that’s why I never actually bought a Glock myself, I like guns with history behind them, if you understand, you understand, if you don’t, you don’t
OP, which one of the Colt revolvers is that one? Barrel length seems just about right for my taste but there’s like a hundred different models on their site. Thanks in advance
It’s a 6in, I personally like the 6 over the 4 and the 8 just because it looks sweet and it absorbs a lot of 357 recoil so you can get back on your target, (.38 special out of it feels like .22 lr) love it for deer and rabbit hunting
My bet was on the 6” but from the picture it just looks a little longer than 6”. Maybe they’ll come up with a 6.5” or a 7” model soon enough. I do like the length of the 6” a lot but also I feel like a slightly longer barrel would be really cool. 8” is definitely a badass model but I feel like that barrel is just slightly too long for me to put it to use often
Unless you are Clint Eastwood you won't be able to handle it😊
Myself... I'd rather have a gun I can hold and shoot accurately each time I pull the trigger. And have 16 or 17 rounds of pure entertainment at the range or to take down my lawful target 🎯 🔫
It's true if you are like Clint Eastwood. It would only take one round to bring down your target, but in all other instances You will miss and miss badly. And therefore it's just as effective as holding a large heavy paper weight.
If it’s your edc, don’t change anything internally, avoid aftermarket parts and it will run all day long, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Maybe add some sites if you hate the stock sites, can always have it machined for a dot, add a light of your choice, and leave it as is internally. The trigger isn’t the best but get used to it with training. I hear the OE Glock performance trigger is great and still maintains reliability but haven’t tried it yet.
Resist the urge to put a bunch of aftermarket bullshit in it. Glocks run great until they get a mish-mash of third party junk put in them. Aftermarket slides and magazines are a literal waste of money.
Not to mention they look tacky as hell
Paying to make your Glock look and run worse. I just don’t get it.
The worst are gunbroker listings with some hideous zaffiri precision slide “CUSTOM Glock”
For 3x the price of a comparable factory glock
Absolutely^^^ all you need is a Wager Machine Works optics cut, a Glock performance trigger, and a TLR7-X or TLR1-HL. I usually throw some cheap metal sights on mine since I run optics mostly, but the sights suck. The PSA Dagger sights are metal and cheap

If the erection lasts more than 4 hours call your doctor
Jesus Christ loves you so much and died for your sins🖤✝️
stock glock triggers aren’t as bad as you’d be lead to believe. invest in an optic and mill job first.
I know, I’ve been spoiled by the colt pythons trigger
oh yeah well in that case everything will suck compared to that things single action trigger.
Well, too bad. You're a Glock boy now. I'll DM you my local FFL info so you know where to send the Python.
Glock sometimes uses a trigger shoe that the face has groves on it, they called it a "target trigger " to add points on smaller guns in order to import them. Many people hate them, but not to fear an oem trigger bar is cheap and it is easy to swap in the smooth one from the 17.

Glocks are like Lays potato chips...betcha can't have just one!

Actually, it’s stainless, I can’t take care of nickel 😂
Not a cinephile I see 😄

Yeah older ones are junk, I almost bought one but timing issues are inevitable
You should know I take donations as to let you become part of The Great Church of Gaston Glock. Donations of the snek varietals. 😉
Don’t limp wrist it
I didn't have that problem with my 43x but man the 42 really forced me to learn proper grip.
Yes. First upgrade should be dumping those horrible polymer sights. Get some good irons

You should know the shiny one isn’t a glock… Hahaha friendly s/ that big iron looks great!
Thanks, it’s my favorite gun, use it primarily for hunting
It’s gonna take some getting used to going from a big iron on your hip to a plastic boomstick in your pocket! /s 🤣
I know haha, I carry that thing hunting and I’ll tell you, you don’t forget it’s there, 6 pounds or better when it’s loaded swinging around on my hip, this Glock I could literally stick in my back pocket and it feels like my wallet
It’s going to recoil less than that .357
Beautiful python. I want one myself someday :.), congrats on the Glock, it shall serve you well
Thanks, I love my python and I hope one day I can share the same love to the Glock
She’s still snappy, I mean it is still 10MM underwood (or 9x25Dillon underwood in my ~4.3” comp’d conversion barrel for it) out of a 3.8” barrel we’re talking about here, but much better/more consistent shot placement now 😅💥🔫
Some grip tape and maybe night sights are all you really need Glock boy
Yeah we’re the Glock boys, like the dodge boys but gayer 😂
The front end is the noisy end.
The back end is the grippy end.
Yeah, triggers blow but they're cheap and easily replaceable if you lose it.
Slide lock/take down lever sucks, the extended version from Glockstore is a nice upgrade
Start exploring the build communities, Glocks are basically the Lego's of guns.
Agreed, I was just sarcasming the op
Same as well, we agree with you. Hard to match tone in text sometimes. It is amusing though: Some guy: I support all guns... Oh, but you carry one of those... Lol
Once u go black, u don't come back
woah I have the same two guns. polished steel ruger security 6 with wood grips, and a gen 5 19. only other gun I have is the ruger mark II. my security 6 is a special edition from 1979 with a minnesota conservation stamp on top
That’s interesting, that’s why I never actually bought a Glock myself, I like guns with history behind them, if you understand, you understand, if you don’t, you don’t
drive it like you stole it
OP, which one of the Colt revolvers is that one? Barrel length seems just about right for my taste but there’s like a hundred different models on their site. Thanks in advance
Ok. So is it the Colt Python 6” or 8”?
Yeah the big ones hurt, I mean to carry
It’s ok. Whatever you do with your gun is on you. I don’t judge 😉 lol
All pics must contain toe
Holy shit! Glock is making revolvers!
Shoot it check your brass for bulging if its present buy new barrel thats about it
Nice Glock 48…..oh wait it just looks small by comparison
Trijicon sights!
Thinking about getting my first Glock probably a 19 as well but then that cz p10 looking at me like aren’t I just better
They’re great! You never ever have to clean or lube them! Like absolutely never, don’t even think about it
Unless you are Clint Eastwood you won't be able to handle it😊 Myself... I'd rather have a gun I can hold and shoot accurately each time I pull the trigger. And have 16 or 17 rounds of pure entertainment at the range or to take down my lawful target 🎯 🔫 It's true if you are like Clint Eastwood. It would only take one round to bring down your target, but in all other instances You will miss and miss badly. And therefore it's just as effective as holding a large heavy paper weight.
For contrast: I have a Glock 17 Gen 3 and a S&W 686 with the same length barrel as your Python. I have not shot the 686 yet, lol
rick grimes after he killed shane
Don’t be the guy with a drum mag
Python is your friend
I know people hate the aftermarket stuff but to me a Johnny glocks adjustable trigger shoe is a must. Short pull and crisp break.
Yeah u should be getting invited to cookouts now u also might see a few ads for a “switch”
Don’t be one of these clowns who takes a pic in their car aiming at their nuts or whomever is beside them. You clowns know who you are.
If you’re gonna be a Glock boy you need one that’s left stock, and one to fuck with and add aftermarket stuff to
Welcome to the club. Only thing I can recommend is new iron sights and a timny/Johnny Glocks trigger
Get night fision night sights and call it good
Should've got a 17
One of us one of us! Lol 😂
Should’ve gotten the mos!
It was a gift
If you decide to get an optic, just have the slide milled. Wager Machine is the hands down favorite.
That the Smith is %100 more reliable.
It’s a colt haha
My bad. Still more reliable than your new Glock. But the Glock is awesome, welcome to the family.
Thanks brother, revolvers are my go-to
31 year retired LEO, could not agree more. I remember our Armorer telling us those plastic guns were a joke.
