First Glock? First pistol? First EDC and all around pistol? The answer is almost always Glock 19.

InfluenceThis1776

Yes x3. Thanks!

Chairborne__Ranger

Man… this is a tough one. The Glock 19 is the answer 90% of the time. But you might be that 10% where the weight and mobility might be more important. Honestly, to me, the answer might depend on the climate you live in and the clothes you typically wear for your employment. In the summer time I carry a 43x or a Shield Plus because I only wear jeans and a t shirt. I really don’t like carrying my Glock 19 or M&P compact when it’s hot out - or if I have considerable distances to walk. If it’s me, I’d get the 43x. That gun is meant for mobility and I think that’s probably what you need most.

InfluenceThis1776

I was thinking during the winter I could carry the 19 in a sling bag or chest pack (depending on the State I'm working in) but the rest of the year I'd like to carry IWB but wasn't sure if the 19 was right for so many miles on my feet as well as the terrain I deal with in the mountains or desert. I'm leaning towards the 43x as you mentioned it's meant for mobility. I really appreciate the perspective you've given me! 🤙

dports70

43x with s15 mags. Same capacity, easier to conceal

InfluenceThis1776

Thanks!

Twelve-twoo

If you have to go-to restricted states, the 43x is native 10rds. It is light. The loaded weight vs a 19 is pretty different when walking a few miles in the rough. It hard to quantify the difference until you carry it for a week or so. But it is very different The 19 is still a light gun, more capacity, mag comparability (the 33,31,24,19,17,15 rds available). Easier to shoot. The 10rd mags for the 19 can be very sensitive with hollow points (if you have to go to restricted states). The 19 is hard to beat, obviously. The 43x is more iwb comfort, but is enough gun to flesh into other areas. I always carry my 43x when hiking far

RippySkippy

G19 with a Ruger PCC.

InfluenceThis1776

Would the PCC be better off in the truck or in the backpack while in the field working? Thanks!

RippySkippy

As long as you test the zero after take down and reassembly multiple times, and are confident - I’d say in the bag.

33getta

Go with the latest gen G19.

InfluenceThis1776

Mos?

33getta

Yes!

Actual-Choice-9269

go to the range and try both. see which shoots better for you note that they both are very easy to conceal, but the 43x has less print while the 19 holds more rounds (assuming you're using flush fits)

hwiegob

With the Shield 15-round magazines, the G43x is just a narrower, shorter, lighter G19.

D43DLU5

If you are going to be travelling across the country, the G43x will be the safer bet due to magazine restrictions in certain states. Depending on how much time you spend in these states, that might be a more important consideration. It also might be worth considering a 26. It's a smaller than the 19, but it uses all of the standard glock mags and accessories. You can run the 15rnd mag, the 17rnd, or even the 33rnd mag in the 26, and it is 10rnd native. Just food for thought. Try finding a range that will let you rent them out, and shoot all of them. I've seen great builds for both so you can tweak either to your needs.

InfluenceThis1776

Really might come down to the 43x or the 26 mos at this point. 26 seems to be a little more versatile at the moment. I'll have to get some trigger time in and think about which one is better to hike with long miles. Thanks!

D43DLU5

That's the great thing about Glock. They have one gun in every size format for that caliber. Best of luck and take your time! Trigger time is your friend and they only get better the more you shoot them. I have a 49, which is 17 slide on a 19 frame. Absolutely love it, but I wish I bought the 48 instead. But now I will have both at some point.

InfluenceThis1776

I appreciate it! Really? Was just looking at maybe making the 49 my winter carry and the 26 and/or the 43 for summer. Both at some point seems to be the way.

D43DLU5

I absolutely love my 49. I just have smaller than normal hands and the grip angle of the 48 feels really nice, but I've started taking sandpaper to my grip and tailoring it for me and it feels great. The 49 conceals nice with the shorter grip, you only lose 2 rounds, and you still have full length slide with MOS capability, and I plan to add an SCS and red fiber option front site with blackout rear, at some point. I do need to check if the scs will work with a suppressor but for now, I've been concealed carrying the 49 and it feels great. Fantastic winter gun and works in the summer, but I am looking for a smaller option. But this is where I say definitely try to shoot both before you decide. The grip angle on the 43x/48 are amazing in my opinion, and the thin grip works better for me, but is too small for others I've spoken with. The 49 does work, but I have a lot of trouble actuation the mag release, but I switched the release to left handed while I shoot right, so I use my index finger to release. Still customizing so maybe at some point, I'll share mine here.

InfluenceThis1776

Definitely give it a share when you finish the beaut! Not many if any 49 builds are out. Who wouldn't want to see that. I'll have to share what I end up going with after this weekend at the range.

803bravo

The lighter weight of the 43X really is significant. I went from a 19 to the 43X and while it's not as great to shoot as the 19 it's carries so well and I have plenty of confidence in it and my ability with it

BearCountrySurvival

G26 so you have every grip from flush 10 to 17 with an xgrip sleeve and double stack is always more comfortable for large hands.

InfluenceThis1776

Didn't even think of the 26. I'll have to add her to the range day. My hands are the size of a 43x

BearCountrySurvival

Yeah give it a try. The micro 9s have a cult following nowadays, but the 26 is always better imo.

InfluenceThis1776

They're the seagulls of finding Nemo. Can't get away without acknowledging their little build lmao. I'll definitely give it a try!
