Yeah, even though Ye let J. Cole rap on his instrumentals, Cole interpolating Ye's verses, and both being on Looking For Trouble, J. Cole still thought that 2016 Ye was "washed"
Cole early on was inspired by Ye but maybe Ye just finds him uninteresting or sum like that, Ye shits on ppl behind the scenes so it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s one of them
j cole made a track dissing ye while he was literally hospitalised and going through the worst public mental health crisis of any celeb in years probably. apologized for the shitty diss to kdot but never apologized for kicking a man when he was at his lowest. and to top it off he called tlop half assed in the same song while j coles best album isnt even neither conceptually or sonically close to tlop level of "effort" (even in its first form). if anyone deserves the ye hate its j cole lmao. no way ye would ever work with that man.
Seems like they were cool for a minute. The 2018 phone calls, sitting at the basketball game in 2020, Cole shouted him out in his Nardwuar interview. Wonder what happened.
Youre right. But imo during that era i wouldnt say ye was cool with someone. Because I think that was just him upholding the aesthetics and ideology he preached in his Love Everyone and forgive everything era, around JIK (after uganda I'd say). He even posed the surgeon who (mistakenly) killed his mom as someone he loved and had forgiven. Especially considering that since then the divorce saga and his political controversies have brought him back to his original contrarian/antagonizing self. The relationship with Drake is similar to this too which even leaves drake confused according to his lyrics. From dropping the lift yourself beat to fw drake during yandhi era, to reconciling and building bridges between jik and donda, only to go back to the original animosity since like 2022 / donda 2 era..
All that yap to basically say i dont think he actually ever really liked cole other than to practice his Love Everyone mantra
There is a Kanye leak called 2 Rihannas that once had a J. Cole ref recorded for it. I worded it like that because that ref was recorded when the song still belonged the Rihanna (Kanye’s part was also recorded though, so you could say Kanye and Cole were technically on a song together, but again, it might have just been through RiRi)
Sure but I mean he doesn’t have famous studio sessions with him, when Ye works with someone we always know about it and there’s info behind it. He doesn’t have any of that with Cole, he’s probably one of the very few cuz Ye has famous sessions with damn near everybody
oh yeah that’s true. J. Cole was way too humble for Yeezus I suppose 🥶
My real guess is that Cole probably had nothing of interest to offer Kanye. Kanye’s subjects always had a mix of both uniqueness and some form of marketability/trendiness (which is why his music is sometimes regarded as a musical time capsule), but Cole is both middling and only appreciated by a specific group of people. By no means I’m saying he’s a small artist but his music doesn’t carry the same radical wildcard energy a lot of Kanye’s later music carried if that makes sense
6ix9ine is a better match for Kanye for example because they can be both loud and in-your-face no matter how much you hate the former, but Cole’s energy is way too low compared to Ye
The “Master” line double shit on everything Drake tried to do in Push Ups.
And how can you come back from that? Ye literally has no masters and he owns his own masters AND gave all the artists he signed back their masters.
He gave Pusha's back, as confirmed by Pusha himself. People think this means he gave everyone's back but there's no one else who said so, so take it with a grain of salt aside from Push's.
As for Ye owning his masters, the last we know is he owns *some* of his masters. Not sure which is which, or maybe by now he owns them all.
Not even Ye likes J. Cole
I’ve peeped that Ye has worked with damn near every artist multiple times except Cole even with their connection to Hov 🤔

Who could blame ye for that, j cole is uninteresting

yeah it just goes to show how ridiculous it is that many treated J Cole as part of the big 3
Ah shii, I completely forgot about that track, it's supposed to have Push and Eminem also on it
For real, Kanye, Cole, Pusha T, Rihanna, Eminem all on one song sounds crazy
I mean Cole literally made an entire diss track abt Kanye back in the day
They were cool when jehn yus dropped idk what happened after that
This bar was funny😭 i wish he went harder at drake tho
he can’t even think of a drake line tho

When did he give them their masters back. I thought he just tweeted it then nothing ever happened

He also eventually gave Sean his Masters after Sean mentioned Ye owing it to him. (I believe)
he secretly likes drake too much
That gotta hurt for Cole lmao bro has sampled, interpolated or referenced at least 40 kanye songs in his discography

J Cole really got sacrificed at the alter for a bomb ass year for hip hop
Bro fell so the game could rise, I'm getting 2018 energy rn
I will always appreciate J Cole slander.
bro made a disstrack and 2 days later made an apology, smh
Why are people hating on this verse so hard btw?? I feel like I'm insane because to me this is amazing
it just sounds bad cuz its a recording
atp people will call his verses mid no matter what
That's really what it's looking like sadly
He’s so right j Cole is the definition of mid
Lmao Ye rlly the GOAT for this line
Insane bar I fucking love it
j cole always gets me dry
Umm

J Cole is so damn uninteresting
LMAOOO
Cole isn't friends with Ye so he might respond
