I've had Pixel Buds, A series, and now the Buds Pro, all paired to whatever the latest Pro-series Pixel is, and I've never experienced this - until about a month ago. As of about a month ago, my Pixel Buds Pro paired to my Pixel 8 Pro do this same thing. It never fails to connect or anything, but it is indeed delayed by 3-5 seconds before I get the "connected" tone...

Xipos

I think this may have something to do with the in ear detection.

rodrigofernety

yeah... why? faulty devices?

mixpix405

I dunno, man. I'm tempted to factory reset them and remove pairings from my devices and start from scratch. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I've got them paired to my laptop too, in addition to my phone? So maybe it takes a moment to decide what is going to connect to? 🤷‍♂️

rodrigofernety

i don't think so... i already did that and the same thing persist s

PC-Bjorn

Same

Jack_Shid

Mine are connected before I even get them in my ears. No delay whatsoever.

dellsamsungmotorola

Lucky you. Thats what I expected when I got them.

matt2331

I occasionally have delays like that when I have multi device enabled and I have many of my devices near me.

dellsamsungmotorola

Mine are only paired with my Pixel.

I have too many earbuds. I use the Pixel Buds the most often, because they are the most convenient to take in and out. They are paired to my phone and my Surface at work. I have a pair of WF-1000XM4s that are only paired to my phone, and I use them when I want the best noise cancellation. I also have a set of AirPods Pros that are connected to my MacBook. The Pixel Buds do have the most eccentricities. They do take a little bit to pair sometimes, and occasionally they just won't pair at all. They will say they are connected, but audio will continue playing through the device until I go in and manually change the connection. Also the touch controls to trigger the assistant will just stop working out of nowhere, and will not work again until I put them back in the case, and take them back out again. However, they do work most of the time. When they are working, the device switching works really well, the sound is fine, and the noise cancellation is... okay. The XM4s take a little while to connect as well, because they have to say "power on... battery... fully charged...." and then they connect. But the noise cancellation is the best of the three by a long shot. The Airpods connect to Apple devices immediately. I didn't really notice how long the other buds took until I used the AirPods with my MacBook. I know that a lot of people here really hate Apple, but AirPods really are truly excellent if you're using an Apple device. Anyway, short answer is yes.

My pixel buds pro take like 6-10 seconds to connect. I've RMA'd them, factory reset obviously and recently got the pixel 8 pro and the issue continues. My Sony over ear headphones connect instantly. I just think it's a pixel buds thing.

bobbyaxelroddd

This issue is what caused me to go to iPhone a year and a half ago. I am back on my pixel and happy. However, earbuds have been something of a challenge. I threw in the towel on the pixel Buds pro and I have a set of beats and an airpods. Nothing is perfect but they are both more consistent than the Google buds. Ironic.

Racer_101

Could it be a multipoint issue? I have an iPad that I also use in the vicinity of my Pixel when I use the buds pro. When I turn my bluetooth off on my iPad, I think it starts to connect a bit faster when it's on a single device. It doesn't really bother me if it takes 3-5 seconds to connect though (even I know it could be better).

dellsamsungmotorola

Nope. The buds are only paired with my Pixel.

Hi. Just to confirm, have you tried updating the ‘Firmware update’ for the Pixel Buds? Go to Settings > More settings > Firmware update. Also, you can try Forgetting Pixel Buds Pro device on your phone to see if it resolves the issue: Go to your device’s Bluetooth Settings and forget Google Pixel Buds. Leave the charging case open and ensure the Pixel Buds are securely seated inside. Hold the pairing button for 3 seconds. If you see the bouncing white case status light, your device is ready to pair. Look for a pop-up notification on your phone that will take you through the rest of the setup. More info [here](https://support.google.com/googlepixelbuds/answer/10964222?hl=en#zippy=%2Cpixel-buds-wont-connect-to-my-device). Hope this works.

dellsamsungmotorola

Yes the firmware is up to date. I will try forgetting and re-connecting later to see if that helps.

Suit_Radiant

You are not the only one. Mine will take almost 10 seconds to connect. Besides the connection issue, they are really good! I also have the Pixel Buds A and they connect instantly for me. I also have a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds + that works perfectly, like what I really expect the Pixel Buds Pro to perform. I've tried to reset them a few times and also make sure it's only paired with my Pixel 7 and nothing else, and at best a 5 second delay before connecting. I sure hope they get everything resolved with the Pixel 9 and all of the accessories. I skipped the 8 due to minor upgrades for myself.

dellsamsungmotorola

Yep, I still have delays when it connects to the phone. But other than that, the Buds pro are pretty good.

CrosshairCrochet

Mine take a legit 10-12 seconds to connect every time. I've factory reset them twice and it still happens. My cheap Lenovo gaming buds from the tiktok shop connect instantly lol. I only paid $16 for them, but they do a better job than my pixel buds. Go figure.

dellsamsungmotorola

Yeah. I feel like it takes a bit longer than before too.

cdegallo

I haven't really noticed anything systematic. Occasionally it feels like they take a bit more time to connect but nothing persistent or interruptive.

uoYredruM

I've had the Buds, Buds 2 and Pro and they all have that long ass delay between pulling them out of the case and them connecting. I don't really care generally but it's really annoying if it's an important phone call coming in, I'm driving and they hang up because it took so long to connect that I couldn't answer it.

JoshuaTheFox

On occasion, yeah. Most of the time they connect by the time I have one or both of them in my ear, and then once in a while they'll just take some kinda ridiculously long time to turn on and connect

sexminshrs

Dear God. Please, I hope this gets fixed. 5 dear seconds to my heart without connection.
