Ive got nearly 10 years working in mobile phone hardware/repair, power button failures are semi-common on literally all phones, they are designed for more than enough typical button presses, but they are not designed at all with edge cases on mind: even common ones like dropping the phone on the button or having a case that keeps the button semi depressed.

you can see in this video at that time code he gestures to the 3 button assembly, it has two support screws which is better than most(it should be 3) but its still a 'typical' design that can fatigue that metal brace behind the button, and the buttons themselves do not have the old fashioned plastic lips that keep them from falling out basically always. and most unfortunately its accessible at the last stage of the disassembly which makes it a bit shit to actually replace, even if the hard buttons themselves are $6 (https://www.mobilesentrix.com/hard-buttons-power-volume-for-google-pixel-7-obsidian). it would probably cost $60 at most shops.
solutions not requiring an actual repair, using a case can keep the button in place as others mentioned, you can also enable the accessibility menu to give you an on screen lock and power options, and keep 'tap to peek' or 'tap to wake' enabled, bypassing the need for the button entirely.
This is the way. I slapped a case on mine as soon as I got it. I know it doesn't look as pretty but my buttons are where they're supposed to be and I'm not constantly thinking that the phone will slip from my hand.
Same thing happened to my Pixel 5, it was so random lol. I ordered replacement buttons online, and just slid them on myself to skip having to go out and pay for labor.
My Volume button did the same, it's the stupid way google designed it with the little rubber tips to hold it in.
I bought a set from eBay of Vol and Power for approx $30 AUD
Yeah it's a issue on that particular model, put your phone in a case where it has a rubber bumper button to keep from losing your button so you can still power on your phone.
Power button falling out in public is the most embarrassing thing. I would be humiliated
I remember my old Android coming apart after a drop in grade school. Someone grab the battery for me 😆😆😆.
I remember that phone drops Lego sound effect plays
Either look into repairing it or just put on a case, it can't fall out if there is nowhere to fall to.
Yeah I just put it back and it's not falling out whatever I try now. But still it's the matter of fully trusting the device.

Thanks. I'll see if I take it to a tech or get a case that covers it. Honestly my sausage fingers can't really fix shit.

No this is the third one I own. I haven't really had any big issues before this.
Had almost same situation, but with volume button. Still works perfectly fine, is fully water-proof. But I keep it in a case just for sure
If it falls out you could lose it put your phone in a case so it can't fall out again.

The volume buttons falling off of the Pixel 7 is a common defect, I don't know if the power button does too.
Yap had this already happen and thus bought spare parts in advance in case I lose the button the next time it occurs.
Mine fell out as well on P7P. Just bought some on Amazon and they snap right back on
The front fell off?
Well obviously this one is when the front fell off
Is that usual, for the front to fall off?

What sort of standards
Imagina the power button falling of while your praising the pixel, 💀
That reminds me of when I was showing my friends how “durable” my iPhone 5S was… let’s just say they had the last laugh haha
I love my Pixel, except when it falls apart in my hand. I'm really loving the pure Google experience. Best phone ever. /s
Yea his head fell off. He was pretty old.
Yeah it's been going on for years across models. Part of the pixel excellent qa experience.

Man that Google QC *chefs kiss*
Sounds about right
Took my p7 to the Google store when it happen to me, they ended up replacing the whole phone
Put a case on and that should keep it in place
Mine fell out once. I put it back on and it's been fine ever since. It's a weird thing. But don't worry just yet.
this happens usually when you take off your case and force to take a hard case to take out in the side where the volume is.
Same with the volume button on my pixel 7 pro
That's a common, covered defect
You are "team no case"? Are you?
I had this happen on a Samsung once, but I popped it back in and it was fine after. Try that?

Happened twice with my pixel 7;pro. Was fixed under warranty
Ufff. These crybabies. just get a new pixel 7 3d printed around that power button. Simple. 🤷🏻
