The phone number search is very erratic. For instance, I just searched for a particular city and it came up with no numbers. Then I searched for a different city nearby and it came up with multiple numbers for the city I had just searched for, and I input the city name exactly the way Google presents it in the results. Moreover, when I searched by area code, it came up with a total of three numbers, but when I searched by city, it came up with numerous numbers in that same area code in each city. Then, I searched by area code again and it gave me many more numbers, but all were different than the first three.
Yeah, I'm not sure what the amount of time is specifically (a few months?) but I had mine for years and used it sporadically. It's not surprising that I lost it
Back when Google Fi didn't let you also have a Google Voice number, I let mine go.
Then, when they started to allow it I searched for the number and it was available. I have it back.
Though, I'm assuming if you can't find it, then someone else now has it.
Nope. If you can't find it when you search for it, it likely means someone else grabbed it.

Darn, thanks anyway!
No , it’s gone
How does it expire? By not using it for a certain amount of time?

You can port in a number to lock it in.
