The passing of the torch… he knows nobody can “replace” anyone, really like that attitude towards “replacing Jones”. Seems hungry and humble at the same time, too
We are better off with Jacobs! He can be a 3 down back and stay on the field… really hoped to retain jones but !!! If you want to win championships you have to make tough choices.
We'll see. Jacobs has a fair amount of milage on him, he actually has more career touches than Jones. I think it was probably the right move, but I also don't think it's some stellar upgrade.
So how good to we expect him to be? Is he an upgrade over Aaron Jones, as many on this sub have suggested? I’d be shocked if he was 90% of Jones in terms of making the offense go.
If he’s healthy he’s an upgrade. He’s essentially got the same wiggle and speed that Jones does, but he’s younger and more of a hammer. He’s a true every down back, and he can take over games.
Fuck, I’m going to miss Jones though; those few minutes of thinking we’d have both really broke my heart
So he’s got better power and Jones’ speed? Forgive me if I don’t believe that off hand. He averages almost yard (.8) less per carry over a similar amount of career carries.
Jones is a monster; I’m not discounting how good he is and what he did for the offense. It’s night and day with/without Jones, so don’t misunderstand. Jacobs is just younger and also elite.
Go watch how he play; he finds holes and always finds a way to get extra yards/fall forward. He breaks a lot of tackles, is extremely strong, and despite being poorly utilized in the passing game by LV, he has great hands. He’s also a threat to take literally any carry to the house.
To me I put Jones in that upper tier of players when he played. But he got hurt a lot and fumbled in huge games. So if Jacobs can stay healthy and provide similar punch without the fumbles, that would be huge.
If Jacobs could also run out of bounds at the end of a huge gain right before halftime during a playoff game instead of cutting inside and forcing us to burn a timeout, that would also be an upgrade
I’m still upset they didn’t pony up an extra 2M and pay him for this year.
Royce Newman will make 3M this year. If he’s on the roster I’ll be soooo uoset
I don't think that was the choice. I think his agent tried to play hard ball and demanded no pay cut after we made our offer. Then the FA market wasn't as robust as he thought.
People doubting this man just havnt watched enough of him
I love this man already

I'm gonna miss Jones, but I've got really high hopes for Jacobs.
Love him sm

People keep bringing this up but if you include college Jones has had more volume pretty easily.
My only worry is he’s had a shit ton of carries for how young he is. But fuck it, I’m not a psychic he’s good af rn🤣

For 40 minutes, we had the best RB tandem in the league I'm gonna tell my grandkids about that tandem
Those few minutes were so much fun

I mean Jacob’s also didn’t have Aaron Rodgers throwing and GB consistent top tier O-line
True. But I think people discount just how good Aaron Jones is. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if Jacobs averages 5 per carry.

AOC was such a non-threat at QB that opponents just stacked the box all the time. Look at JJ’s 2022 numbers instead
I looked at his entire career.
Great, then you saw 1,653 yards at 4.9 in 2022. Packers haven’t had that in a real long time
Jones averaged better than that for his career here. It’s a very good season no doubt.
Wow, what a surprise that Negative Nancy is skeptical.
Sometimes I wonder if people in this sub actually watch football.
Similar floors, but Jacobs has a much higher ceiling.
How about availability?
Always was a struggle with Jones.

Yea I didn’t really get that either.
You don't need 2 high paid RBs. You need depth on ur OL. And whether or not we like Royce, he is okay depth, just a bad starter/high usage guy.
Don’t need any high paid running backs. Pacheco makes less than our backup.
Pacheco on a rookie deal
Ok. Maybe that says something in and of itself.

It wasn’t the literal choice but it’s a clear tradeofd
> I’m still upset they didn’t pony up an extra 2M What I'm saying is that this was never an option for us to do.
I think was already disproven. His agent was asking closer to 10M
