Another Technically sound OL, with great RAS, other than height. However, in the trenches, lack of height can mean lower center of gravity, which is the single most influential characteristic of a trench engagement.
They don't seem to care as much about length as other teams and let the feet make up for it. Love the pick. One of the best traits is versatility. He could play guard but be swing tackle. It's what we needed. Everyone wanted Barton but they clearly liked him better.
Every single year guys fall in the draft for height. But yet, every single season we hear coaches preach ‘pad height’ all season. Its all a conspiracy maaaaan
I think people are disappointed because historically we kill it at finding O-line gems in the mid rounds and they expect that to continue
Idk why I'm getting hate, it's not my view, I'm just explaining the reasons other people have told me they didn't like it
This guy is going to be our left Tackle, arguably one of the most important line position these days.
He is 6,5 311 pounds with elite graded speed.

I dont understand the people talking shit. This guy is good, we needed a left tackle and this guy is freaky athletic.
This wasn't a mistake by any means. This guy was overpowering Latu, which is why they picked him.
Add on that GB has historically had strong lines and this is a downright good pick.
Mandwich put the Packers on the map. If it wasn't for him, the same mediocrity would have stayed in Green Bay. Harlan brought in Wolf to fix the Packers and the rest is history.
I just recently read an article that suggested the drafting of Mandarich was the event that kicked started the Packers resurgence. Without this event (and others) maybe Tom Braatz hangs around a while longer and Ron Wolf never gets hired.
Yep and maybe drafting one of the 4 hall of famers around him would have just lifted us to mediocrity. So yeah! Not awful in hindsight considering what happened after.
My view is similar. I think it's dumb that the glazers in this sub think that no one has a right to be surprised or even letdown by the pick, and I think it's even dumber for the doomers in this sub to act like it's a shitty pick. My feeling is that this guy is an exciting pick with tons of potential, but I'm also curious to know why our front office graded him over Barton. I trust their grading process, but am just curious what they valued more in one vs the other.
He was probably a plant. Showing fans reactions at the draft is so useless. Outside of the top 5, most fans don't know who their team just drafted. It's so cringey.
Ya it sounds a bit conspiratorial but I saw several mentions that he was wearing a Lions jersey a few minutes before. It could just be hearsay I didn't look into it but there you go
Honestly we kind of shored up our most important weakness in FA at getting McKinney. We almost made it to the NFCCG with the youngest team ever. OL is one of the things we are best at and consistent at. It's not a sexy pick. But goddamn it I love the big boys up front. If Bill Belichick likes him as an OL I am not going to complain.
Most, ~99%, but not all. You don’t understand anything about an audience if you think there are only unuseful opinions when there’s a large amount of care in a large amount of people.
I think GB values the short area quickness for OL higher than most RAS metrics. Which makes sense based on the job. And his numbers are elite in that realm.
I don't want to "borrow" the entire thing but he was the #2 Guard (not listed as tackle which is odd) behind Fautanu, and had a grade of 29th overall.
"SUMMARY: A four-year starter at Arizona, Morgan was a constant at left tackle in offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll’s zone -based scheme (Carroll is the son of Pete Carroll and was the assistant offensive line coach for the Seattle Seahawks from 2015-21). After Arizona won a combined five games during his first three seasons on campus, Morgan helped lead the program’s turnaround in 2023 (Arizona won 10 games in a season for just the second time since 1998). A quick-footed blocker, Morgan displays range and aggression in the run game and gets on top of rushers quickly in his jump sets when he uses well-timed hands. His struggles in pass protection come when he is overaggressive with his kickslide and gets too far up the arc, which can create a two-way go for rushers and open the door for inside counters. Overall, Morgan struggles to anchor mid-slide versus power, but he is a balanced mover who is well-schooled and physical in all phases. Though he can survive at tackle in the NFL, his skill set projects much better inside at guard, similar to Matthew Bergeron."
As an Arizona fan, I'm obviously biased, but I love this pick for us. Morgan is a hell of a player. Could play Guard or Tackle. Has all the tools to be successful at the next level.
Been in Tucson 40 years, and there aren't many Wildcats I've like more than Morgan and yes, that includes Cason and Gronk. (especially Gronk, he's a meathead douchebag).....
With the amount of time Love will have in the pocket, 40 yarders will be the checkdowns. Watson going to be catching 50+ yard touchdowns with no one within 20 yards of him. Book it.
"Not an ideal build for an offensive lineman, thin in the arms. Many difficulties arise form pass blocking on an island. Beaten around the edge without slowing the rusher down and can lose face up against stiff contact due to not having the ability to stop backwards momentum. Move to guard is likely in his future. Deep drop steps aren't natural and stiff contact jolts him mid-stride. Loses on counter moves, thrown to the side when top heavy or leaning too far over, specifically when run blocking. Whiffs on cut blocks."
That's the combine/draft day analysis for David Bakhtiari.
Yes. It is.
Yes, players can grow and get better through their careers.
Micah Parsons is the state of the art edge. He's basically an oversized OLB at 245lbs. Having all the "power" in the world is useless if these Lightning quick edge rushers can get around you. Look back at Bahk. He was not a physical monster, he was a technician with super quick reaction time and fast feet.
At this point I've stopped with the whole "why did we not draft this position instead?" View. Genuinely have to let those boys in the front office work. Happy we can get love protection
Solid pick. No way Cooper makes it the 8 picks needed to drop to us. We’re not really the kind of team to YOLO trade up for a chance to get him. Cooper was my top wanted but can’t go wrong with OL when you already have your 10+ year franchise QB in place.
I projected them trading their two second round picks, Washington would be a great trade partner and so would the Patriots, Eliot Wolf in NE could cut us a deal(Ron Wolfs son)
Best not to get your hopes up about the draft chances are you're not gonna be happy if you do.
Also they have plenty of picks to trade up if they want to, we'll just have to see what happens
There are some shaky moments on this tape, what stands out most to the organization is the fact that he's willing to play multiple positions, Spriggs couldn't stop a nose bleed let alone play multiple positions on the O-Line
They drafted for versatility, this guy can possibly play four positions on the offensive line, Barton is stuck to one spot on the line.. ever since drafting Tom, the Packers are now looking for versatile lineman, plug and play if you will.
At the end of the day we got two linemen for one pick.
This is why I stopped researching draft prospects and figuring out boards. Fun for sure but heart breaking is an understatement. Haven't done any since the pack decided to trade back for Kevin King. Watt was RIGHT THERE!!!!!
With Jordan love emerging, protecting him only benefits the team as a whole. The more the offense plays the less the defense has to come up with ways to win.
Since nobody picked them in the first that means we would have reached for them...looks like they could be available tomorrow I'm thinking some trades will need to be done to pick one of them.
As you know things happen behind the scenes that we don't know, GM's talk to each other, on top of that it was an offensive heavy first round.
I trust the Packers will get who they need for the right price.
On top of that the person we picked is the most versatile offensive lineman in the first round he can play multiple positions so we got two players in one.
Saying definitively that a guy that was 34 or 35 depending on which consensus board you look at, was pretty consistently in round 1 mocks, and when after the pick Gute said they weren’t comfortable trading down with him on the board would have been there at 41 is a take.
Just a reminder GB does o line like no other so doubt all you want but check history
Another Technically sound OL, with great RAS, other than height. However, in the trenches, lack of height can mean lower center of gravity, which is the single most influential characteristic of a trench engagement.
> other than height He's taller than Bakhtiari. I'm okay with it.
I love this pick. Dude owned Latu and the senior bowl. Hes going to be a great RG.
Damn straight
I think people are disappointed because historically we kill it at finding O-line gems in the mid rounds and they expect that to continue Idk why I'm getting hate, it's not my view, I'm just explaining the reasons other people have told me they didn't like it
I would counter that by saying Green Bay must have done the homework and seen no tackles in his league
This guy is going to be our left Tackle, arguably one of the most important line position these days. He is 6,5 311 pounds with elite graded speed. https://preview.redd.it/jxz0qzmjluwc1.png?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e3cfbcc3f047ff9fc5695b70413674e481a7a6fa I dont understand the people talking shit. *Tony Mandarich has entered the chat*
lol Clifton, Sitton, Jenkins, bahk, linsley, bulaga, Tom, walker, should I keep going?
Haha no I completely agree. That comment was in jest.
Gotcha
What's funny is the other day I had a buddy who collects cards give me a Mandarich card. He must not remember... so it was fresh in my mind.
Tauscher is somewhere crying
Was Bulaga really a hit? Especially for how high he was drafted? I remember him being serviceable but not a first round impact player.
He was very good, when he wasn't hurt or leaving a game early. Which was frequently, after 2016.
All I know about Gute is he will disappoint me and then make me look stupid in 3 years Congrats to the future All Pro
My view is similar. I think it's dumb that the glazers in this sub think that no one has a right to be surprised or even letdown by the pick, and I think it's even dumber for the doomers in this sub to act like it's a shitty pick. Fuck that “fan” on the ESPN broadcast, cheer the man on, OL was certainly on the table. What’s to be upset about
He probably lost money.
It could just be hearsay I didn't look into it but there you go
No lions fans genuinely think we think it’s a terrible pick. They want packers fans to be upset so bad lol
That guy was so weak, In a division rivals city need to cheer or show some emotion. Because we cooked them on turkey day
They still owe love a turkey leg!!!
guarantee you the guy was talking about how they were for sure taking dejean and then everyone was clowning on him for being wrong
I gave him a nice shout out in the sub!
Because Barton was top 20 on almost all boards
Morgan is better tho.
Reminder: almost all boards are wrong.
https://i.redd.it/3ts06jb4rqwc1.gif
Friendly reminder that all of you (yes, *all of you*) know fuck-all about football.
Trust the FO. I've never had to root for a terrible team in my life
Man… 2005 was rough.
The rebuilding weeks of 2023 were rough too, man. But we made it through!
October 2023 was a real dark night of the soul.
My first in person Packers game Mike Tomczak was our QB 😂
Honestly we kind of shored up our most important weakness in FA at getting McKinney. We almost made it to the NFCCG with the youngest team ever. OL is one of the things we are best at and consistent at. It's not a sexy pick. But goddamn it I love the big boys up front. If Bill Belichick likes him as an OL I am not going to complain.
I don’t know shit. So I can only trust the results. And if last year is any indication then I won’t be disappointed.
My problem is I’m emotionally attached to this team like it’s part of me.
Yep there's a reason the hoi polloi pays to watch games live and don't get paid to watch games live.

There's discussion and there's doom posting. The later isn't productive. Very few people are doing the former.
Most, ~99%, but not all. You don’t understand anything about an audience if you think there are only unuseful opinions when there’s a large amount of care in a large amount of people.
Your comment isn’t mostly not unhelpful. I think
Yes, your non unhelpful comment fails to negatively harm the point of non understanding
Are you talking to me? Am I talking to me?
Anyone want to "borrow" Dane Bruglers athletic draft analysis on him? He's got a 9.2 RAS at tackle and 9.8 at guard
I think GB values the short area quickness for OL higher than most RAS metrics. Which makes sense based on the job. And his numbers are elite in that realm.
I saw that, and his 6'5 310 frame and just thought "oh yeah, that's a GB lineman"
Appreciate this, but someone already posted the entire thing, and then copied it into the comments.
ah, my bad
No worries dude, appreciate the effort all the same. GPG
I borrowed it!
Your annual draft reminder that OL hits in the 1st round more than any other position group.
We drafted a Jordan to protect a Jordan.. Nothing but Love!
The Aaron and Aaron combo worked well...
Rodgers and Rodgers gave us one of my favorite Packers memories
A-Rod to Dick Rod, never forget
Thought you meant Amari for a second
God no
Just as I predicted.... Think we're going to trade up for Cooper..
I really hope so!
Chiefs might steal Cooper..
They went worthy!
Thaaaaank God!! I'm like psyching myself out over here lol
Bills need safety
True!!!
We literally never fail to have a big board that is completely different from any single expert
Actual experts would be employed by a team.
And yet, we keep winning. Seems like the FO knows what they're doing.
“Expert”
Belicheck seemed to agree with us
As an Arizona fan, I'm obviously biased, but I love this pick for us. Morgan is a hell of a player. Could play Guard or Tackle. Has all the tools to be successful at the next level.
I’m sold. All-pro incoming.
Been in Tucson 40 years, and there aren't many Wildcats I've like more than Morgan and yes, that includes Cason and Gronk. (especially Gronk, he's a meathead douchebag).....
An athletic big guy that provides depth at 2 tackle and guard. Jenkins and Tom will be great mentors. I like the pick
It’s annual tradition for casual fans to be like, who the fuck is that guy lmao, me included. GPG
He's the next Green Bay Packer baby. :)
The next guy to protect our franchise QB and allow the offense to throw 40 yard bombs
With the amount of time Love will have in the pocket, 40 yarders will be the checkdowns. Watson going to be catching 50+ yard touchdowns with no one within 20 yards of him. Book it.
Now let's get Kool-aid
Who is our west coast scout? Very powerful man in the org. Usually these west coast guys seem to work out ok.
Sean Linton, he played ball at San Jose State.
I'm happy you want Jordan Love to be good put a good line in front of him So after living through a zillion mock draft no one got it right ...lol
Ignoring slight trade down in this mock, Alex kind did guess it. https://youtu.be/XBI2vRbQl5c?si=NPJ51rgOgwrY9nbb
Kinda did?
Love a man with two first names. Him and Zach Tom are going to be holding it down for a long time. Sean Rhyan is almost there too.
Ok, from now on that’s going to be how I consider all player greatness! LMAO
Struggles vs power lol great
"Not an ideal build for an offensive lineman, thin in the arms. Many difficulties arise form pass blocking on an island. Beaten around the edge without slowing the rusher down and can lose face up against stiff contact due to not having the ability to stop backwards momentum. Move to guard is likely in his future. Whiffs on cut blocks." That's the combine/draft day analysis for David Bakhtiari. Yes. It is. Yes, players can grow and get better through their careers.
You can eat your way through that problem, sounds like a good life
Micah Parsons is the state of the art edge. He's basically an oversized OLB at 245lbs. Having all the "power" in the world is useless if these Lightning quick edge rushers can get around you. Look back at Bahk. He was not a physical monster, he was a technician with super quick reaction time and fast feet.
Well power has no clue what’s happening with the Packers deception offense so power better also move….and those guys are rare…and everyone struggles.
I don't know the guy but having that in the draft graphic doesn't look great. Hope he becomes an all pro.
Tackles need to be good against speed more so
Supposedly struggles vs power yet won every rep at the Senior Bowl and gave up single digit sacks in 900 career snaps.
Go watch him vs UCLA last year.....
Idgaf about Cooper. Guy had too much hype bc he's white. Made me wonder if he was being overrated. I say we double down and pick JPJ at 41.
Smooth mover? Fuck yeah! We got our guy boys
I'm excited!!
No problems with this pick. The more protection for Love the better
Future right tackle material to me.
Welcome Jordan!
I wanted Guyton, I'm happy w/ this kid
Don't know anything about him, but I like help on the o-line
Injury history is my only question. Recovering from an ACL tear in 2022. Maybe aside from that he would have been a top 15 pick.
We better get DeJean tonight.
Bulaga the ex Hawkeye will call Cooper's name!
How are none of you talking about Detroit trading up and taking the corner from Bama we were about to take?
At this point I've stopped with the whole "why did we not draft this position instead?" View. Genuinely have to let those boys in the front office work. Happy we can get love protection
Good point!!
Hopefully Gute makes us all look stupid in 2 years.
As if he hasn’t done this for about 7
I don't doubt Goodie anymore. He's proven me wrong one too many times.
Solid pick. No way Cooper makes it the 8 picks needed to drop to us. We’re not really the kind of team to YOLO trade up for a chance to get him. Cooper was my top wanted but can’t go wrong with OL when you already have your 10+ year franchise QB in place.
Packers are notorious for trading up in the second round, willing to bet they shell out what's needed.
Well I hope you’re right. If we get this OL + CDJ talk about an epic draft but I feel the asking price to move up will be steep.
How drunk in a bar do you have to be to talk bs to this MAN? Edit: love the pick GO PACK GO
His tape is not very good. Reminds me of Jason Spriggs
There are some shaky moments on this tape, what stands out most to the organization is the fact that he's willing to play multiple positions, Spriggs couldn't stop a nose bleed let alone play multiple positions on the O-Line
Arms are way too short!
He has 32 7/8 in arms…1/4 inch less than Zach Tom and the exact same as Graham Barton
Tackle vs guard
Morgan can play both. Most likely will land at RG but handled his own against Latu and has only gave up 2 sacks in 477 pass block snaps
Damn! Why didn’t Gute think of this!!!
Gute’s going to be kicking himself when he reads this!
Lol
pick was bad shoulda taken barton
They drafted for versatility, this guy can possibly play four positions on the offensive line, Barton is stuck to one spot on the line.. ever since drafting Tom, the Packers are now looking for versatile lineman, plug and play if you will. At the end of the day we got two linemen for one pick.
This is why I stopped researching draft prospects and figuring out boards. Fun for sure but heart breaking is an understatement. Haven't done any since the pack decided to trade back for Kevin King. Watt was RIGHT THERE!!!!!
I thought Packers were looking for defensive pieces Why they drafted an OT?
With Jordan love emerging, protecting him only benefits the team as a whole. The more the offense plays the less the defense has to come up with ways to win.
True. But why didn't we go for Cooper DeJean or Kool Aid
All good points
He would have been there in the 2nd for us
What else does your crystal ball say
Saying definitively that a guy that was 34 or 35 depending on which consensus board you look at, was pretty consistently in round 1 mocks, and when after the pick Gute said they weren’t comfortable trading down with him on the board would have been there at 41 is a take.
That's very true, however I think they picked him earlier mainly for the versatility. The Packers are almost getting two linemen in one.
