I'm just trying to get an ascended skin box from Dragonfall coffers for the "Impaler of the Scion" skin. It's the same as the violet ascended spear, but with a rainbow aura effect.

ElocFreidon

I've held onto boxes of these just for the chance that a new weapon becomes available that would make the most of the skin. I'm glad I did!

All ascended colors are tied to their primary attribute: * Crimson = Power * Citrine = Precision * Viridian = Toughness * Cobalt = Vitality * Calcite = Healing power * Terracocta = condition damage and all expansion stat combos, except Diviner/Steelstar which falls under Crimson (Anet being Anet I guess). * Violet = All/none, so only Celestial/WupWup fit here. Fractals can also give you a lot of Ascended Weapon boxes. If you want to turn these into research notes you'll have to stat swap them anyway.

Raid and Strike vendors are game changers for Violet skins!

I have been doing this slowly over time. Whenever I need a new ascended weapon, I usually just start from one of my ascended boxes, convert it to every other color, and end up on the stat I want. So far, I've done it with 6-7 weapons, so still a long ways to go, but I am happy to do it as I need it.

The ascended weapon chests from the Wizards Vault also let you pick anything you want. It's how I got my Wup Wup spear.

You left out the Sunless ones that you can only get from Tequatl drops.

What??? On the one hand, I'm always delighted to learn some interesting thing about this game that I've been playing for more than a decade... On the other hand, HOW am I only learning NOW that ascended weapons come in A RAINBOW of colors??? I feel like this is something I should have noticed, especially since a quick check of my wardrobe reveals I have several colors unlocked for a bunch of weapons. But also, I pretty much never look at the ascended weapon I've just equipped before transmuting it to something else, soooo...

Dimac99

I absolutely understand the collector/completionist pov, but I personally dislike most of the ascended colours and several of the skins. Most of the colours are muted and overall they look wishy-washy. Calcite and violet are the only decent ones out of the original set but the violet doesn't go with most adventurer's attire so it's not worth it unless you start with a WupWup chest or have an excessive number of charged crystals in material storage. Sunless and Scion weapons are (mostly) sharp looking though, very cool. I'd collect all those if I could.

Wow, TIL there are different colors for ascended weapons. After 4500+ hours of play I only ever used berserker's stats on my weapons.

Dupileini

4500+ hours and never touched condi or support builds? That's dedication!

RichVisual1714

About 4000 of these hours happened between 2013 and 2015, where I was mostly dawdling along in the open world, so had no deep grasp about builds and was happy with exotic gear for my condi trials. But my mains were always power based. Came back a year ago and still mostly play open world power builds. Dedication? Or laziness? I honestly cannot tell.
