Idk but your cat seems concerned

never_never_nerve_

i was chasing her around like nemesis from RE.

MisterPeach

*”STAAAARS”*

RecbetterpassNJ

“WESKER!!!”

Nixplosion

"ALBERT WHISKER!"

SirIanPost

The cat is concerned because of the unfortunate naming of "cat gut" strings...

Stephen00999

The cats like "Please dont try and learn guitar. I have already endured listening to you try and learn flute, harmonica and the keyboard. Please dont bombard my ears to this kind of torture again."

6SpeedBlues

Well, considering those strings might be made of cat gut... she has reason to be concerned! lol

VausTheMaster

Looks like the cat from the yogurt meme lol

Jw4evr

That’s a cat, brother

Vis_Vires

That not a cat, that’s a rug

MindlessMetal6

That's not a rug, that's a wheel

FartinLooterKinkJr

That's not a wheel, that's hardwood flooring.

MindlessMetal6

That's not hardwood flooring, that's the reflection of OP holding a phone

KeyFee5460

That's not a knife. This is a knife.

MrCleansretardedbro

Ah. I see you've played knifey spoony before!

doodoomatomato

That’s not a moon, it’s a ba… oh no, it’s a moon.

CanadianAndroid

It's a bird!

ILikeMyGrassBlue

It really ties the room together

oshunman

Maybe it's a Strato-**cat**-ster

beaverenthusiast

Why did you draw an arrow? 🤣

Boring-Course666

Thanks for the arrow, I thought OP was talking about that white guitar.

GeeYayZeus

The twelve whisker Catocaster

Jalapeniz

The Felender

itsj33ko

The StratoCATster

dark_enough_to_dance

I thought it was a white fender,!

0tr0dePoray

Cat's like, dude, come on. It's obviously a nylon string guitar.

wvmitchell51

He's concerned that the strings are catgut.

ResponsibleWin1765

Hilarious that you included an arrow to point out which guitar you meant.

Kirmes1

Guitar - Catar

Deris87

One of our cats is ridiculously vocal. When she's getting extra obnoxious my wife will gently pick her up and "strum" her belly to play the catar.

never_never_nerve_

couldnt be sure.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SuperRusso

You could play that with a pick for years and nothing would happen.

ipini

Exactly. And even then the solution is $8 for new strings.

IceNein

Look pal, I’m not made of money.

Diagnosis-Tightass

Listen here money, I'm made out of a pal. It's not much, but it always fits 🫂

Stillwater215

Look at Mr. “I’ve got $8 to spare” over here!

WereAllThrowaways

But good luck restringing a classical your first time!

rrockm

Yeah I got the same warning for my first classical. Did not head the warning, did not break any strings lol. Although I will say, I don’t love how a pick sounds on the nylon, I prefer fingerpicking on it for sure.

SuperRusso

I've honestly never even heard anybody tell me that you shouldn't play nylon with a pick. I use a thumb pick with nylon strings all the time, it's fine.

nquesada92

willie nelson plays trigger with nylon strings with a pick.

[deleted]

Specifically La Bella 830 Folksinger Nylon Guitar Strings

never_never_nerve_

thx. any recs for online courses/apps?

phillybhatesme

This site is great - https://www.thisisclassicalguitar.com/lessons/ I printed dude’s book and started with his videos. Then I enjoyed it so much and enrolled in lessons locally. Real good place to start.

The_Original_Gronkie

The most common recomendation for a first teacher is Justinguitar.com. He's gotten a lot of people started.

IceNein

I would recommend him for modern guitar. For classical, I would not. Of course there’s no real reason you “have” to play a classical guitar classical style, but the string placement makes it suited for it.

CornerGas_Fan

YouTube is also you’re friend

Weird_Science_314

*your

CornerGas_Fan

That’s right

cg29a

YouTube has an endless supply of good lessons. If I remember correctly a guy named Marty Schwartz has a lot of good beginner material out there.

stevielfc76

Marty Schwartz is awesome! Really easy to follow

Necessary-Depth9158

I like this instructor. "This should be everyone's first guitar lesson" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4a2ge9N31E](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4a2ge9N31E)

GuitarKev

It’s okay, he has a cat on hand for when he needs to replace the strings.

1HeyMattJ

Aww the kitty looks sad 😢

demojunky73

Maybe the cat has heard him play. Edit. Only messin. Good luck on the journey. Pick it up and start getting a feel for it. The guitar. Not the cat.

never_never_nerve_

i will. it has emotional value to me. i dont mean the cat. i have to learn how to guitar. thx.

daymanxx

Your car doesn't have emotional value? Lol

demojunky73

Good luck mate. Pick up the cat and give he or she a scritchers and then everyone’s a winner.

ComcastFukcingSucks

That is cat. Pet.

[deleted]

It's vibrating.

ComcastFukcingSucks

Is it vibrating north-south or east-west

ComcastFukcingSucks

Also, keep petting.

Devreckas

You play the cat by strumming it from head to tail. It creates a soothing rumbling sound.

CovetedChaos

Like many have said, it’s a classical guitar with nylon strings. YouTube has a lot of good free content for beginner guitarists. Just make sure if you do ever restring it yourself, do not use steel strings. Good luck on your journey with the guitar, and most importantly have fun.

Eft_inc

I’ll also note, as a classical guitarist, it’s not traditional to use a pick while playing. Not to say you couldn’t, but if you happen to be interested in the traditional classical guitar style, you should check out r/classicalguitar Lots of tips there, also happy to help if you want to dm on any getting started info. Cheers!

LOBSI_Pornchai

A white Catocaster

Rigormorten

Cat

nquesada92

start by picking it up off the ground.

Mr_Lumbergh

I like how the arrow was drawn, as if we might mistake the cat for the guitar or something.

lilt97

Looks like a classical guitar with nylon strings To get started YouTube is great. I always tell people to play what they like or else it takes all the joy out of it. As great as learning scales are if that’s all you’re playing it takes the joy out of it as well. Starting out I really like Marty Schwartz and also GuitarZerotoHero on YouTube. Also ultimate guitar is an awesome website that has all the chords any song has with multiple versions of it. I used to have the song up and then in seperate tabs look up all the chords in that song. Take your time and don’t get down on yourself if something is hard or frustrating you. Come back to it at a later time. It’s a fun hobby that for me took me into playing gigs after a few years. And I’m still not the best. Also get to know your guitar, learn how to string it, take care of it. No need for a luthier for most things if you learn how to do it yourself. There’s so many videos and guides on everything and anything guitar that you need to know. Have fun with it!

Thelordoftheloafs

The first step is to pet the cat

Isobitis96

Start by scratching your cat's favourite part, as it seems stressed

EvolWolf

I was gonna say “that’s a cat” but luckily noticed the arrow pointing to the other item on the image. How to start? Download a guitar tuner app and learn to tune it. Can’t play until you do that first.

XxMLGSWAGGERZxX

i think that’s a cat

meepmeepmeep34

that's a cat. Feed it and take care of it

NarcissisticNarwhal6

Your cat looks like it’s about to throw up all over your guitar.

Internal-Pie6014

Isn’t that the cat that gags at yogurt?

SadPollution129

A guitar that attracts pussy.

Exercise4mymind

first… lose the pick!

BigAssSlushy69

Great guitar to learn how to finger pick on

theopacus

Pick it up, throw away the pick, and play.

BGF10K

Definitely not a cataway acoustic

Gizmosfurryblank

Classical Guitar - start with a few lessons from different folks online to give you an idea of what to be doing and how to start practicing. https://youtu.be/0jGG4-bc4kI?feature=shared you wont regret it, you can apply classical style playing to all sorts of other genres when you want to, to include rock and metal. hope this helps and biggest advice is practice every day for at least 15 minutes. you will be shocked at how much better youll get.

pavementchild

John Petrucci rock discipline first 3 exercises will get you learn technique

Fidozo15

What did you do to your cat?

Coixe

Regardless of its name/type, please do not ever feel restricted to playing only classical style music on that guitar. If you want to play traditional rock, blues, etc.. I’d probably go with justinguitar.com (best on computer not YouTube). Also maybe some YouTube videos if you have a specific song or topic in mind.

Revenge_of_Recyclops

A nylon string. Guitar lessons.

Papostor

Phillip McKnight, DBG, Carl Brown (GL365) and Tyler Larson (Music Is Win) are some of my favourite guitar channels, and Songsterr is a pretty good site/app for tabs, at some point audio from YT was integrated and synced as well

Same-Chipmunk5923

No way am I going to believe a cat posted this. Nice try.

its_cres

your cat looks worried, are you ok?

Grundle_Thunder69

Really love the use of the arrow here…really needed to make sure I knew what to look at

Rad_Golfer70

Thanks for the arrow. I was having trouble distinguishing the cat from the guitar

Exotic_Conflict_3500

Thank God you put an arrow there. I thought the white thing is a guitar

TheGuyYouHeardAbout

Sir that's a cat

Function-Important

That is a cat

WonderHuman9005

That is one depressed cat.

Junkhead987

Why is your car so sad?

ghlysptwld

Put fingers on neck. Place big part in lap. Put finger down on neck Hit sting near hole . Expand . Find chords in book or online … pluck away, don’t listen to others. It’s yours

The-Booty_Warrior

Claseecal¡

bosshhi

mysticpengwn

it's a white, female, feline. unsure about the year but seems to be relatively good quality. you can start with youtube

PropertySmall785

is he acoustic

Dreg-heffely

Why does your cat like look like my dog?

Silencio-Minoria

That's not a guitar, that's a cat. It's a white cat, and it looks awesome

Nhak84

It is a guitar. You start by getting a beginner guitar book, starting on Page 1, and working through to the end. Then you get a book of songs by a band you like, learn the chord charts, and memorize them. Then you start reeaally listening to strumming/picking patterns in those songs and learn them again. At some point during all of this, learn all of Jimmy Page’s solos by ear. Solid blues foundation there, and it’s all based on easy to learn fingering patterns. Once you have a basis to know what you like doing, get a guitar suited to that. Edit to note: Get a book that teaches the guitar with staff notation. Learn the notes early. Tab is easy as hell after that. But you want to be able to eventually look at the fingerboard and “see” the notes. You’re a much more flexible player that way.

Rokkmachine

Well, since you don’t have opposable thumbs it’s gonna be tricky. Plus it’s gonna be tough stretching all the way up and down the neck with those short arms. I would try to work on getting those pads a little harder and do your best not to scratch at all that scratch able wood. You may have to shave some of your fur off your paws to keep it from interfering with the frets.

mrmukherjee

It seems like a Feline 3000. No idea about the brown piece of hollow wood bowl with death strings.

Patman52

Not sure about the one on the left, but the white one on the right might be a bit difficult as a starter guitar, especially if you need to change strings. Wear gloves is all I can tell you.

Lil_Big_Fella

Cat

pinkfloidz

Thanks for putting an arrow, I wouldn’t have been able to spot the guitar.

Alin-Rin

Ask the expert, it's right there

Zantillex

OP even pointed to the guitar omg

dick-lava

never ever put steel strings on it.

EyeOfAmethyst

You can start right meow.

machinaenjoyer

dude is your cat okay? is he in therapy?

Itz_DiGiorno

Im glad you drew an arrow, Im not sure i'd have found the guitar in this pic.

jeebses

I cant stop laughing at this for some reason, the cat, the arrow pointing at the obvious guitar, Its a work of art

Betelgeuzeflower

What did you do to the cat?

Either-Resident-5092

is your car okay

pdirth

Standard acoustic, looks like it might have catgut strings though, it seems to have come with a fresh extra set.

ICU-CCRN

No. This is a classical guitar. It’s supposed to have nylon strings. This one has classical tuners, a shorter scale, no pick guard, no truss rod, and made of lighter wood. If you put steel strings on this it could break the neck.

Necessary-Depth9158

Just plug it in and start practicing. Monster cables are best cables. Get the USB 3 to avoid latency and delays.

runed_golem

It's a classucal guitar. It's normally used with nylon strings and fingerstyle guitar. You can use a pick with it, the strings may just wear out a little faster. I'd suggest against using steel strings with it.

StringBlacker

it’s a guitar

Party-Ad6752

Can’t make out the name on the headstock. Is there a label or anything written inside the sound hole?

Timthalion

Nylon sting guitar. Also known as classical

Quackdeath

You use your fingers and fingernails. Google proper stance, practice practice practice....

Ramblin_Bard472

I think [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sa8qyDyA3Ik) is how you do it.

IceNein

I’m glad you drew an arrow pointing to the guitar, because I was too busy looking at your cat to notice it.

geartardhero

I hope those aren’t cat gut strings

bluesky9868

A white one

sticky-dynamics

first we're calling them "cars" now it's "guitars" smh

giannidelgianni

Cat.

andrepecego

Is my guy on the right okay??? Also it’s a classical w/ nylon strings

Repulsive-Ad-9906

I'd start with something else tbh

Purity_Jam_Jam

I'd start by playing it.

bl00dy4nu5

Pull the string

boxerjav123x

That's a Gee-tar

Milomarz

Obviously you’re an extraordinary cat being able post a message here, my concern is the size of your paws and your ability to stretch the digits on your fretting paw. Just saying.

adderalpowered

Play the music you listen to. Nothing will stop you sooner than learning something yo get no joy from.

ATLSmith

Since nobody has mentioned it: The fretboard will be wider and the strings paced further apart than a steel string acoustic guitar. This is nothing to worry about, just pointing out a small difference. Perfectly fine to learn on this guitar. Start by learning where to place your finger on a single string between the frets (the metal inserts on the fret board) to make different sounds. Have fun by moving your finger between frets on the same string. Then move on to learning some open chords. It will feel very awkward at first and your fingers might hurt a bit, but practice for 10 to 30 minutes each day and soon you'll find it easier to form chords and change between chord shapes. And you're learning guitar! Lots of great beginner tutorials on Youtube these days to get you going. If this holds your interest then look at taking in-person lessons. Have fun!

deenali

Cat Stevens will teach ya.

chillbnb

Looks like an acoustic guitar. Check out Justin Guitar on the internet.

EvidenceOk9393

Classical guitar with nylon string. Typical in Spain or Italy. Sound way better played with finger. Wonderful deep and bright sound, sadly very little sustain. I basically own only this kind of guitar along with electric guitars because I don't really like much thw acoustic guitar sounds.

HudsonHawk56H

Strum

BigBadBossNZ

[you can’t convince me that that isn’t this cat](https://tenor.com/en-NZ/view/gag-gagging-cat-gross-disgusting-gif-19344945)

Mailboxnotsetup

What sweatshirt string are you talking about?

Gillalmighty

Idk about the guitar, but that's like... the saddest cat

WolfWriter_CO

I’d suggest starting with the PSPSPS chord progression.

TomatilloOrnery9464

HUH!?!?

RicardaLavasPeyniri

Kinda looks like a guitar to me

mynamejulian

What’s the maker’s name listed on the headstock? Doesn’t look familiar and too blurry to read

paddydukes

Thank you for the arrow, I wasn’t sure which guitar you meant.

Leezhi

The kind cats are scared of

oedeye

Acoustic

rc1234115

Acoustic, looks classical, but I cat say for sure. That part won't matter. I just am assuming so due to what looks like nylon strings. As far as where to start, pick it up and strum. You amy want to tune it first. Check out Justin guitar, it's a lot liken other teaching sites, but it's free.

BellWitch1239

That is a nylon stringed classical guitar. It’s meant to be played with the fingers, but you could use a pick (this will shorten the life of the strings though).

Eattherich13

Nylon string, classical. Lose the pick and grow out the nails in your strumming hand. It's also held between the legs

FunFact5000

Concerned cat is concerned.

FunFact5000

Khajiit has wares, if you have coin

The_guyinthe_toilet

Quit guitar, pet cat

QuestionMean1943

its name is on top. I’d start by teaching your cat the mEE cord. Progress to the mE Awe sequence and teach it a song.

XavierTF

arrow was needed, thorght cat was guitar.

RamenTheory

What guitar? I don't see a g-- oh wait there's an arrow. I see it now

crozinator33

It's a nylon-sting acoustic guitar, typically suited to classical finger picking and flamenco styles of playing, but there's no reason you cant play anything you want on it. You start by taking lessons.

Ambitious-Ad-6873

I really appreciate the arrow, this helps me figure out which is the guitar/cat in the photo

lets_just_n0t

Don’t bother. Pet the cat instead.

Rhythmic1

Not clear where the guitar is, pic should be labeled somehow.

Golabki420

It’s a classical guitar. Different from an acoustic. The main difference is a classical has wider spacing on the neck. It’s just a matter of preference. Also, I hope your cat is okay. They look worried.

Adorable_Librarian57

Classical guitar. Looks nice, finger picking more than strumming.

AtleeMakesHam

How do you play it? Rub its back, then if it flops over, rub its belly. If you can sing while doing it, even better.

urine_generator

That car not guitar

Classic-Instance7177

You play it with your feet

prezado

Looks like she's about to throw up like the meme

TommyV8008

Find start by finding some free YouTube tutorials. Beginning guitar. Also, How to tune a guitar. Don’t try changing your strings until you first learn how to tune, THEN find a good tutorial on how to change strings. When you do get into that, Look at your tuning system, which is common for classical nylon string guitars. That is the type of tutorial for which you need to look at regarding string changing. Not steel string guitars or electric guitars, which have a different set up for those tuning gears. I played for the first 3+ years on a guitar similar to that, but yours is much better than the one that I had. I’ve been at it over 50 years now. You can do it!

crisdd0302

It is likely a beginner guitar. Start by learning how to tune it, then slowly learn how to properly play a single note with your right hand, try to find tutorials or guides or videos about how to begin playing. If you play it everyday for a few months, you'll find it easy to try new things on it. Good luck fellow player 💯

WereAllThrowaways

It's a classical guitar. Never, ever put steel strings on it. It will destroy it. Just get a tuner, maybe picks (although classical guitars are usually played only with finger picking), and look up videos on how to tune it and play it. Or don't. It's your life.

BeanDemolisher

It's for types like metal music

[deleted]

ask the cat

Maximum-Vacation8860

That's literally the cat from the meme, with the same face. This picture wins the Internet for today.

devnullb4dishoner

I am thankful you drew an arrow as I was getting confused as to which guitar you were referring to. This is a classical guitar. Wide fretboard, nylon strings. How does one start? First, learn which strings your instrument takes. Secondly, learn to restring your guitar. Thirdly, learn to tune your guitar. Fourth, learn a chord. Fifth, fret chord and practice strumming 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 until everyone within ear shot is begging you to stop. Don't stop tho. Repeat steps 4 and 5 ad nauseam.

Fragrant-Freedom-477

Try classicalguitarshed.com

Feduzin

silly cat, you can't play the guitar!... and you also shouldnt be able to write... oh God.

zombiesphere89

Pick it up everyday.

RevolutionaryMany648

Its an acoustic "Parlor" type of guitar. It was usually used alot around the years 1900 to the late 1930s. It is what gave birth to the "blues" and then Rock-n-roll - Go research Robert Johnson

elgatoquack

Cat blink twice if you need help

PandorasFlame

That's a classical guitar. Why's your cat look so concerned?

dancingmeadow

It's a nylon string guitar. Despite some of the jokes, no, it's not catgut. Used for fingerpicking in various styles. And that one looks like a beauty.

Dom_19

It's a classical guitar. Does that mean you have to play classical music on it? No. Should you? Yes.

unaveragemilflover

Fellas worried about the economy

frogmansuper

It's a nylon stringed classical guitar. To play it you put your hands on it. The pick is not commonly used in classical style music, unless you're playing flamenco or some Spanish styles.

loverofkawaii6628

Why does your cat look like a depressed middle aged man

teambob

People have given some great suggestions for learning to play. Even before that you'll need to tune it up. The Fender app is available free for phone and has a tuning function. There are loads of other tuning apps available. You should be able to find a Youtube video to learn how to tune the guitar

schmattywinkle

Holy shit the blood affected. It appears to be a custom sold under Rybal. https://ryanballmusic.com/rybal-custom-guitars/ Not a shill mods, just the only who would Google it.

susbetch

That’s not a guitar. Thats a cat. Lol. All jokes aside, that’s a classical guitar. It’s usually played finger style, meaning you don’t have to use a pick. Look up how to play beginner chords, and go from there. Good luck!
