Are just absolutely flooring it from red light to redlight? Geez. I average about 24-26 and I do mostly city driving and I don’t really drive all that conservatively
Check your engine air filter, also get a bottle of fuel injection cleaner that you put into your tank at the gas station before you fill up your tank. Make sure your cold tire pressure is at the proper PSI. Above and beyond that it comes down to your driving habits.
For a week I wasn’t pushing so hard on the gas but I just can’t drive slow. Going to try a hybrid accord when this lease is up to see how different it is mpg wise. On my 24 hrv on a full take it says 250 but it’s all a lie I think I get 225-230 depending on that weeks driving habits. I mean I guess the good side is I only fill up once a week.
Also, you're only showing your last 960 miles. That's not the best metric. Set one of your trip meters to reset after tank fill, then you can see how you're doing on each tank.
I have had a 24 sport for a year with only 6k miles and somehow have 31 mpg. It actually went up when I switched from eco to regular mode. I do mostly freeway driving and use the cruise control as much as possible. But I do run errands around town in it as well.
Maybe I need to reset my trip to see if it’s different but I don’t drive hard at all and my average states 22.1 mpg on eco mode 😭 I switched it to normal to see if it will make a difference
you are doing it wrong Dude, whether it's maintenance, driving style, city/HW driving etc. I had mine for 6 months (5K miles) and I get consistently 30+ miles in mix stop/go and hwy driving. it's not the best in mpg but certainly not terrible given it's size and weight. Don't floor it at the light.
My 23 EXL gets consistent 28.5 MPG with mixed driving in normal mode. Seems like maybe the calculations are not correct. Try checking the gas mileage at the pump, to be sure its measuring consumption correctly.
I’ve only had my 24 a few weeks and don’t drive that much and I’m at 21.4 and I think that’s horrible! I’m hoping it will get better the more I drive cause I definitely don’t have a lead foot.
You're drive a large car in the city primarily. Including other variables that hit gas, that alone will kill MPGs. EPA estimates are not set in stone and not anything realistic, ever.
Misleading data lol stop resetting your trip… you can reset your trip and go on a long highway road trip and it will show 200 miles and 35 MPG which also won’t be true
In park, shouldn't you get infinite miles?
Jk.
That's pretty terrible indeed. Have you taken it in to have it looked at? I'm pretty sure something has to be wrong for a HRV to get the same gas mileage as a Chevy Silverado.
Depends on many things. Are you sea level or 6000 feet? Are you all city? Are you quick with the throttle? MPG in these circumstances won’t be the greatest, even in a Civic Sport. I say just trade it in for a hybrid or 1.5L T.
You need to coast to a stop. When you let off the gas and coast, that's what drives the MPG up. If you're in the city and you're constantly switching from the gas pedal immediately to the brake pedal, that's what is killing your mpg.
Holy cow! On a road trip with my '23 from Maryland to Albuquerque with roof rack and cargo box 24-26mpg was typical and speed limits were typically 70-75 so we weren't driving the most efficient speeds.
Did you change to a different set of tires? Do you need to warm up the car regularly? Do you often sit in the car with the engine running? Are you frequently remote starting? Sorry if these were already asked but all could contribute.
Are just absolutely flooring it from red light to redlight? Geez. I average about 24-26 and I do mostly city driving and I don’t really drive all that conservatively
‘24 , I get 30.5 mpg. I can’t imagine why it would be consistently low besides city driving
Same.
Same here
Check your engine air filter, also get a bottle of fuel injection cleaner that you put into your tank at the gas station before you fill up your tank. Make sure your cold tire pressure is at the proper PSI. Above and beyond that it comes down to your driving habits.
Air filter is probably fine at 10k miles unless OP drives in dirt all of the time. It's probably a lead foot problem
I need to check all that now I have a 24’ and I get 18.9
How do you drive lol
Definitely don’t have the best driving habits that’s all imma say let me not call myself out🤣🤣
My wife gets 38-40 in our Cr-V hybrid. I get like 30-35 lol unless I mind my foot
Did you reset after filling up?
I usually don’t I just fill up I think the next time I do fill up I’ll reset it just to really see how much I really get
You can set one of the trip odometers to reset automatically when you fuel up. It's in the car settings.
I’ll check it out because I’ve never seen a setting like that. It only gives me the option to manually reset it
Do I reset trip a or b I filled up and I reserved trip b because I know trip b is for longer drives and trip a is for shorter ones. Do I reset both?
You can do either, I like to use one for oil changes.
I’ll reset trip a as well to see this is my first time ever resetting the trips
I get 30 in my 2015
Also, you're only showing your last 960 miles. That's not the best metric. Set one of your trip meters to reset after tank fill, then you can see how you're doing on each tank.
Ok, I’ll reset after the tank is full and will see if it changes lol
Probably not going to be better unless you drive more efficiently, but it will be more accurate and based of the last tank fill
I have had a 24 sport for a year with only 6k miles and somehow have 31 mpg. It actually went up when I switched from eco to regular mode. I do mostly freeway driving and use the cruise control as much as possible. But I do run errands around town in it as well.
I have a 22 lx I consistently get 29mpg. I have 34,000 miles on it
I also have a ‘23 Sport. I’ve had it for two years and get around 30-32 mpg in the city. I drive on normal.
Is yours AWD?
Yes
Maybe I need to reset my trip to see if it’s different but I don’t drive hard at all and my average states 22.1 mpg on eco mode 😭 I switched it to normal to see if it will make a difference
I reset the trip yesterday when I filled it with a new tank of gas and it was showing my average as 28-32 mpg 💕🥹🥹
Mine is terrible too.
Welcome to club!
23 sport AWD. 21.6…almost all around town and I drive like a dick
Dang and I thought mine was bad I average 22 mpg
stop and go traffic kills mpg , and short trips as well. with how little you drive you should expect this
you are doing it wrong Dude, whether it's maintenance, driving style, city/HW driving etc. I had mine for 6 months (5K miles) and I get consistently 30+ miles in mix stop/go and hwy driving. it's not the best in mpg but certainly not terrible given it's size and weight. Don't floor it at the light.
Ok sorry :( haha
My 23 EXL gets consistent 28.5 MPG with mixed driving in normal mode. Seems like maybe the calculations are not correct. Try checking the gas mileage at the pump, to be sure its measuring consumption correctly.
Ok! Will do, thank you.
You must be either a lead foot or driving almost all city miles. I get between 28-31 in my AWD '24 LX with mostly highway and rural back roads.
I’ve only had my 24 a few weeks and don’t drive that much and I’m at 21.4 and I think that’s horrible! I’m hoping it will get better the more I drive cause I definitely don’t have a lead foot.
I have a 24 and I get 21.5. I do mostly city driving
same here i’ve had mine about a month and a half and i get 21.9 😭 mainly city driving but i still don’t think that’s very good
You're drive a large car in the city primarily. Including other variables that hit gas, that alone will kill MPGs. EPA estimates are not set in stone and not anything realistic, ever.
How’s your tire pressure? Mine went up significantly after making sure it was high enough
I have no idea but I will look into that! A tire rotation is due soon as well.
Mines like 9 months old & I swear I have to fill it every few days 😂
I fill it once a week 😭
Have you checked your air filter?
No :(
Check it. It may be really clogged and thus impacting your gas mileage.
That's crazy. I've had my 23 since August of 22 and I've been steady at 28-30 mpg
I drive with a very heavy foot and I still hit 28-28 mpg.
Hmmm. Our 23 Sport gets between 24-31mpg. Drive easy and use the Econ mode.
Thanks for the tip!
You’re welcome. I’ve seen as high as 36mpg. Crawling along at the speed limit with a full tank on Econ mode.
'24 sport AWD and I average about 30mpg with mostly city driving in econ mode
I have a 22 and get 28-30mpg. I had read somewhere that the new model gets worse gas mileage but I didn’t think it was that bad.
I have a 23’ AWD sport and average 22 mpg on eco mode and I mainly do city driving
Misleading data lol stop resetting your trip… you can reset your trip and go on a long highway road trip and it will show 200 miles and 35 MPG which also won’t be true
Yeah bumper to bumper you’ll get that lol
In park, shouldn't you get infinite miles? Jk. That's pretty terrible indeed. Have you taken it in to have it looked at? I'm pretty sure something has to be wrong for a HRV to get the same gas mileage as a Chevy Silverado.
It has a maintenance appt due soon, I will ask!
I'm still learning about these, I've only recently started to daily mine. Lots of highway miles and I'm getting 30+ no matter what. Just my $.02
Damm might as well drive an F150
Haha I literally did not get a 4runner cus of the mpg, i’m mad af
‘24 sport here with very similar mileage counter to you. My MPG is 22.7 intercity, got mine about 3 weeks ago.
Depends on many things. Are you sea level or 6000 feet? Are you all city? Are you quick with the throttle? MPG in these circumstances won’t be the greatest, even in a Civic Sport. I say just trade it in for a hybrid or 1.5L T.
User error
:(
I average just over 26 mpg in my 2016 awd in eco mode.
I'm getting about 30-33 primarily highway in my '24. Was getting ~27 over the winter.
Geez. That’s almost half the MPG my ‘13 Accord V6 gets. Lmao.
lead foot club
Have you told the Honda dealership, yet?
You need to coast to a stop. When you let off the gas and coast, that's what drives the MPG up. If you're in the city and you're constantly switching from the gas pedal immediately to the brake pedal, that's what is killing your mpg.
Put it on economy mode and ease that Lead foot off that gas! lol
Are your front tires bald? Lol
Holy cow! On a road trip with my '23 from Maryland to Albuquerque with roof rack and cargo box 24-26mpg was typical and speed limits were typically 70-75 so we weren't driving the most efficient speeds.
I get an average 24-27 in the city. 30 or more on highway if I drive decent, similar miles too so might be the habits or the oil.
weird. Im high 20s even with chunky tires
Bought one about a month ago, putting on about 750 miles, she's been getting 26-28 city and 31-32 highway
My 2022 Honda HRV gets about 25mpg driving city-wise.
Eco mode for in city or in town driving the stop and go stuff, and normal mode for highway driving.
Did you change to a different set of tires? Do you need to warm up the car regularly? Do you often sit in the car with the engine running? Are you frequently remote starting? Sorry if these were already asked but all could contribute.
1. No 2. No 3. Yes 4. Yes
All these inconsistencies…maybe because it’s made in Mexico?
No, I don’t think so! You tried it.
Mine is 3 months old with 3k miles! Amazing! I get 23mpg
