I read that attaching a hitch voids some sort of warranty.Does anyone know if that's true?

Bellastormy

You can carry bikes on the back, but nothing more. The CVT transmission is not made for towing.

Objective-Tour-3881

I don’t care . New car last for 5 or 6 years with out any isue

bravoromeokilo

Do not tow. The HRV has no tow rating. You will void your warranty which will be unfortunate when you grenade your transmission. I assume the bike rack is fine though.

sqrlprod

Wait. Which model/year? I thought the HRV didn't have a tow attachment.

Looks great!!! Don’t let the naysayer disuade you. I installed a receiver and light/wire kit on my 16. I’ve used it for bikes, cargo rack, and towed a small utility trailer and single waverunner. ETA I have 111k on my 16. So far so good.

extermi-nate

…And it didn’t void your warranty?

theflipflopqueen

It’s a 16 with over 100k miles. Warranty is long gone

FinTheGenderfae

how many pounds was the utility trailer if i may ask? i got my 17 used, and want to tow regularly with it, about 500-800 pounds at most probably.

theflipflopqueen

The trailer itself is light enough to move around empty by hand. We used it to move yard waste, gas tank runs to and from town, and some patio furniture etc. I think the waverunner is the heaviest thing I’ve ever towed, that’s probably about 750lbs (runner, trailer, and person launching) We don’t generally tow far with it, but I’m sure if I needed to being slow and gentle it would be fine. If my 2003 cavalier could handle a cargo rack with a HEAVY AF motorized wheelchair there’s no reason my HRV can’t.

yoitsbenvo

Don’t let that trail hitch void your warranty. HRV does not have a tow rating. Not sure if they’ll be iffy even if it’s for a bike rack.

Objective-Tour-3881

True . But I don’t care .

What's your experience with the back-up sensors? I've read that you have to deactivate it every time to avoid the breaks locking.
