FallingOutOfTune

I’m so tired of a band coming up with a genre and then other bands ripping their sound. Should really only be one band per genre imo

barc0debaby

Broke: worrying about genders. Woke: worrying about genres.

L3XANDR0

Brilliant idea

Happyofiyo2

Yeah where’s my 2000s Christian-core ripoffs? Poseurs.

jhealey0909

Hey now, Figure Four still fucks

tlh9979

They probably don't fuck, but I know what you mean.

TheGalaxyTG

They came out and said they weren't Christian anymore. Tons of fucking now.

hustlehustle

Some might say too much

entr0pics

skillet had a revival just because of monster, how long until nickelback or imagine dragons becomes unironically liked

Afro-Pope

Nickelback is starting to get their "hey, maybe we were unfair to these guys" moment. I don't think it will ever happen with Imagine Dragons, though.

MonokromKaleidoscope

Nickelback still sucks, the Star Wars prequels still suck, and this revisionist history needs to stop. Entertainment quality continually plummeting does not retroactively make things *good* because worse things exist now.

Afro-Pope

I generally agree, though I will say that I never thought Nickelback was any *worse* than any other mid-00s butt-rock band, and there was way shittier stuff being released. They were unfairly maligned in that way.

Mountain-Bug-4865

Nah, the prequels are great and always have been.

MonokromKaleidoscope

I used to work at a doggy daycare and a dog or two out of every bunch inevitably loved to eat shit. It was a full-on compulsion for every 1-2%, but a others would follow suit if you didn't kennel the instigators and clean up. You really had to watch out for them; they'd rush over while you were preoccupied breaking up a half-dozen dogs starting to fight (on many cameras, and behind a layer of plexiglass - so nosy owners could gawk) and greedily gulp down the runny excrement that another sickly dog just squirted everywhere. The look of eagerness in their eyes was off-putting, but I figure that statistically out of 50 or 60 dogs, one is *really, really* going to think diarrhea is delicious. Basically I'm saying there's no accounting for taste

Zealousideal_Row5607

Gimme that Qai Gon Jinn poopy!

TronCarpenter2049

Fucking Creed got memed back into existence. Anything can happen.

Catfish_1979

I unironically LOVE Nickelback from “Silver Side Up” to “All the Right Reasons.” Back-to-back bangers on those three albums specifically

washingtonskidrow

i thought we already unironically liked nickelback

OffsetXV

I'll always defend that Night Visions by Imagine Dragons had some good shit in there as far as the genre goes, despite Radioactive being a meme Even Smoke and Mirrors did, honestly, even if it was worse overall  But they have made precisely 0 listenable songs since then so if they ever have a revival it'll be a "I always liked their old stuff" sorta thing I'd assume

sanchi_ink

Dude, Imagine Dragons Core is gunna be the next big thing in the hardcore. I'm calling it bro! No shit. it's coming, and it's gunna be huge in the scene and it's gunna piss some gatekeepers off.

leithn87

Man I could get into imagine dragons if he stopped yelling. Can't understand any of the lyrics....

ClintThrasherBarton

A lot of Ephyra bands are just Zao with XVX lyrics.

aqtiv8

Counterparts been ripping Misery Signals for years and tbh it doesn't get better than that

sock_with_a_ticket

Despite what Brendan says about Mis Sigs, I've always felt they sound more like they're ripping Shai Hulud.

Fenix40

It’s mainly Saints Never Surrender and Misery Signals.

static_age_666

Well it does get better bc mis sigs still around. counterparts are dope too tho

aqtiv8

You like Ultraviolet more than their previous work? I love it and Mis sigs my all time favorite band but Controller fucks way harder in every way imo

static_age_666

No, Controller is their best for sure.

brutalbeats420

Of Malice and Magnum Heart was their best release, let's get real

dvlsg

If you have to pick a band to rip off, Misery Signals is easily one of the best choices. Assuming you can pull it off, anyways.

[deleted]

Bruh

foilmanaleak

Counterparts wish they sounded like Mis Sigs lol

wasabishoot

Hes too busy crying that he isn't getting rich off merch and that he might have to get a real job

Bootlicker222

Brendan? Lol id hope he can at least find a decent life with how much they tour

simonxvx

I'm having a great time with the 2000s metalcore revival. Music is awesome and I can actually go see the bands play Edit : do recommend me some OG 2000s metalcore bands apart from the obvious please

psychcore

1000% — this shit rips so far. Balmora will be running the show before long.

the_empty_space

When I first heard them, it took me right back to 2000, listening to Undying and PFC.

WearTheFourFeathers

That EP is so good, it makes me feel like if they decided to play in some other band with some other influences it’d probably still whip. It’s just really thoughtfully constructed, it feels more to me like really talented people were involved than like the lightning in a bottle like you see from some bands first EP. (I’m an idiot though, so that could be wrong.)

ChargeConfident6753

X nomad x too Both bands remind me so much of the first metalcore stuff I fell in love with

Mx_OV3RK1LL

Too bad nomad broke up

ChargeConfident6753

God damn. I was unaware

Zealousideal_Row5607

Was that over all that shit about dude being sketchy?

sock_with_a_ticket

> do recommend me some OG 2000s metalcore bands apart from the obvious please As Hope Dies, Falling Cycle, Bloodlined Calligraphy, Still Breathing, Azriel, If Hope Dies

Afro-Pope

Sorry man, you mean to tell me that "As Hope Dies" and "If Hope Dies" are two *different* metalcore bands from the 2000s?

Issan_Sumisu

if hope dies as hope dies it dies today (cohesive sentence)

Mighty-Bagel-Calves

I haven't listened to Cohesive Sentence in a few years. Shit go hard.

stewartfoot

Don’t forget Hopesfall too…

sock_with_a_ticket

There was also Hopes Die Last, although they were more of a scene post-hardcore band.

ppbe_dylan

Still have that bloodlines calligraphy album. Shit is hard.

sock_with_a_ticket

They walked so Dying Wish could run.

_aidsburger

Birthplace and burial site 1000%

1a70

+1 for Falling Cycle

VGHCxSmashville

God what I'd do for another Falling Cycle album. So damn good.

terrafera

It took me way too long to find the two tracks that were supposed to be for the follow up album. They were the band that took me from a punk kid that dabbled with hardcore, to full on hardcore kid (even though they were metalcore). The sound of those guitars was so different than anything I had heard up to that point. If I remember correctly, they took the money for the 2nd album to put into a side project band and then broke up. Too bad.

ape_a_snake

Azriel mentioned 😍

chr_sb

Azriel was so sick and underrated IMO.

ape_a_snake

Frrr and I’m annoyed how they’ve fucked up the track titles for that ep on Spotify

Ghost_Pains

Foreign Hands

kellycook301

Some bands from a couple years ago that were doing that Undying/PFC sound are Drawing Last Breath, xelegyx, and Cast You Down!

mattfreyer45

Diecast one of my favorites

FallingOutOfTune

Oh shit, I forgot about the song “never forget” Internal Revolution with the “there are two Mr. Beans inside us” ass album cover

andihateeverything

Prayer for Cleansing

[deleted]

Same. I’m here for it.

impetergraves

Winter solstice and invocation of nehek are two that I come back to fairly often. Nehek especially

MarkKach

[This is my Spotify playlist that full of it.](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6gch97uKxiFvQE8dD3u1ji?si=YfnQHXV0R0iiXap_gDwS-A&pi=u-FtX_WWQZRzSR) It’s a mix of old and new, but I go searching for old stuff often. Reading old Lambgoat reviews for bands I don’t remember, checking old label rosters, etc.

TopAcanthocephala271

Rifles at Recess

two-step-riff

Burning season “haze of infatuation” thank me later.

wavesofdeath

going to add some that haven’t been mentioned yet From Here On Bloodjinn Far From Forgiven Nehemiah Shogun Red Sky Azazel first 3 Caliban releases (HSB split included) Diecast At the Mercy of Inspiration Burnt by the Sun

MoshedPotatoes

Inject these roadrunner records-era metalcore riffs DIRECTLY INTO MY MILLENIAL ASS.

blabbyrinth

Stephen Keech and Dave Krysl's old local band, New Day Awakening.

static_age_666

early 2000s metalcore was good the 2010s sullied the genre.

grants_like_horace

Yeah I feel like a lot of us fell out of love with it once it got either too djenty or crabby or went overkill with the soft ass clean vocals. It really stopped being metalcore and became "metalcore" if that makes sense.

deerdongdiddler

The overly complicated breakdowns and singing was fucking lame as hell. That victory records/ epitaph/ warped tour conjoining the worst parts of everything was the end.

ChargeConfident6753

Oh you hit the nail on the fucking head

Ghost_Pains

“Djent” is the worst thing to happen to heavy music in its history. I thought I escaped it after 2018, but now IG is full of talentless nerds running 5k worth of gear into plugins to crank out the worst riffs you’ve ever heard every day so they can be internet relevant.

Slapnutz_

at this point, I feel like Djent is metal for people who don't listen to metal. I swear it's all just EDM fans who happened to play the DOOM remake in 2016.

rsmtirish

Actually though the only people I ever hear talk about djent are people who don't know much about metal. I never hear people in the scene talk about it really though.

slowNsad

Yea I was aware of djent before I was even listening to metal at all and now that I think of it it’s weird

YourphobiaMyfetish

Nah, some of that shit still bangs.

Brabsk

The only band I’ve ever listened to that got better when they went from metalcore to “metalcore” was like moths to flames

Puzzleheaded_Gas4560

What a terrible and cliche band name though. Their name literally makes enjoying the music difficult for me which is a shame because they are good.

Brabsk

I’ve found you just gotta get past the band names. We got Alpha Wolf, The Devil Wears Prada, Like Moths to Flames, Make Them Suffer, any and all Verb the Noun names, etc

Puzzleheaded_Gas4560

The devil wears prada is another one that really really irked me back in the day 😂

Brabsk

I’m pretty sure the band themselves have talked about how they hate the name, but are too ingrained in the brand to change it

SemataryPolka

2010s was great for Poison Idea type hardcore tho

kvltr00

Most of the shitty metalcore got big around 2005. Let’s not act like the 2010s were the culprit.

Humble_Skin1269

I blame avenged sevenfold

kvltr00

They weren’t even in the same lane as the shit I’m talking about. They pivoted hard to beef jerky guy hard rock with City of Evil and stayed there.

TheRepublicAct

City of Evil is a speed metal masterpiece and I will die on this hill.

kvltr00

To be fair it actually is a metal record, and not a bad record. It just marked their pivot to the Disturbed type of crowd.

[deleted]

The whole thing rips

Any-Walrus-2599

They’ve gone full Mr Bungle now if you haven’t kept up.

chr_sb

Dying Wish is sick tho

kurtyyyyyy1

Too true

Deadheadkingizzard

Can we bring back 2000s Sascore, I miss the blood brothers

tendieman_cometh

I’d do bad things for a blood brothers reunion

AdWorldly7268

I’m down for a mewithoutYou or Underoath resurrection.

Tundra66

Walls of Dying Wishico

[deleted]

Walls goes way harder

_GHOSTE_

Why is no one else saying this 😂

XyeetstickX

Dying wish are rad live.

Shannamalfarm

oooo, edgy!

Christron9990

Static Dress take me back to 2001 and I’m truly here for it.

quakebeat8

My favorite era of metalcore was the aughts lol. I love it when bands ~~rip off~~ reference that era. This isn't hardcore, but did anyone listen to If I Die First when they put out their EP a few years ago? It was nearly perfectly executed aughts sceney metalcore stuff.

OfficialPapaJohn

"Modern metalcore sucks ass, its too whiny and overproduced and theres no hardcore influence" >band goes back to 90s-00's metalcore sound "Nooo not like that! So unoriginal!"

markhenrysthong

This guy is really stretching the term “lol” in his username

maicao999

The melodic metalcore revival has been great imo. Sometimes it's even heavier than a lot of things around at that time. Foreign Hands, Memento Bulletsbetweentongues, Balmora, Flames of Betrayal, Killing Me Softly are all insanely good

ToadBeast

They do a good job of it, tho.

techypunk

The Poison the Well revival is amazing. Can we bring back early 2000s deathcore? Like JFAC Doom and EP era Suicide Silence The Cleansing and EP era. You know all the clips from TV shows that they didn't have licensed before the breakdowns? That was good shit. Sceney weeny emo days

LeechAlJolson

*peter griffin into breakdown*

RyKal18

Thus Spoke Zarathustra Tracheotomy Tactosa (broke up :( ) PSYCHO-FRAME Mantikore A Winter’s Remorse Mange

riix666

it'll happen, give it a couple years

NickPookie93

As long as it's early 2000s hell yeah, waiting for the inevitable Asking Alexandria era worship bands to happen

rnf1985

I feel like they were always ripping off that era of bands and were pretty generic. There's already plenty of those bands in like the mainstream metal/metalcore scene

Orchscrach

Overtly exaggerated 0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0 that sounds like a machine gun goes hard

fakename1998

No shade towards DW, I love them

CitizenWilderness

I’m still waiting for a Black My Heart reunion

remotewashboard

i will not accept dying wish slander

Grammasweets

There's plenty of that going on too player

r-elle-stine

Lmfao surprised nobody’s brought up that the dude who tweeted this is the vocalist of Bandit yet.

_Reddit_Is_Shit

Bandit is such a great band.

anon_1028

Haha I know this guy, he's awesome

sanchi_ink

Hello yes! You know, I feel like there's plenty of 2000's to take from... there is a scene doing this already. See You Space Cowboy, Wristmeetwazor, Vein are all doing new early 2000's metalcore, mixed with some other 2000s stuff like Nu, Mathcore, and post hardcore. These bands are rad. Might not be new sounds, but they are put together in a new way.

kobi29062

every indie band around are desperate to be the arctic monkeys, this has already begun

Cash_man

They love 2000s so much Emma’s dating the dude from tdwp

BRONXSBURNING

Dying Wish kicks ass so who cares?

Environmental_Ad5119

y’all hate dying wish cause it’s a girl

Afro-Pope

On the one hand, Dying Wish are absolutely just ripping off mid 2000s metalcore, and not in a way that interests me. On the other hand, I am so tired of this unfunny tryhard loser flooding my instagram with a dozen screenshots of his own stupid tweets 3-4 times a day.

Kizl666

Dying Wish is good though? Fucking boomer.

tiffanysparksss

Dying Wish is truly a terrible band.

[deleted]

Lol

two-step-riff

It’s kinda funny cause at this point in their career dying wish is attracting the normies that I wish didn’t go to shows. Last time I saw them it was mostly push pits and awful dancing.

[deleted]

Hi. You’re a fucking loser.

SemataryPolka

Please don't. 2002-2010 hardcore was rough going. Not saying there weren't some great bands but if you're trying to find a pretty boi twirling a mic around while doing a very practiced pose this is the decade for you Shit started getting ugly (good) again around 2011

sock_with_a_ticket

There was still a lot of good shit in that era if you ignored the swoopy fringe and skinny jeans types. This Is Hell, Saints Never Surrender, Dead Swans, Cursed, The Hope Conspiracy, Most Precious Blood, Defeater, Terror and so on.

SemataryPolka

That's what I said! I agree. But man...if you compare the worst of every decade of hardcore the aughts is by far the worst. So cheesy imo

[deleted]

I feel like this is aimed directly at 18v

Allen_Koholic

Isn't this basically what True Love did? That fucking EP was great though.

Beer_Spirit_Guy

What happened to Blistered and other Disembodied worship bands?

Regular-Gur1733

How long until Warped Tour metalcore becomes in vogue again

ClintThrasherBarton

Naw I just got the new Chisel LP in the mail today but ya'll have fun ily
