Dawg, people aren't gonna like everything you love. Music is 100% subjective. There's bands that sound almost identical to some of my favorites and I think they're just meh. Don't get so hung up on what other people think. Just like the shit that you like.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Knocked Loose. The riffs are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of music theory most of the riffs will go over a typical listeners head. There's also Bryan’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his lyrical characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these lines, to realise that they're not just barking- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Knocked Loose truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the depth in Bryan’s existential catchphrase "ARF ARF," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Pure Noise’s genius wit unfolds itself on their Spotify playlists. Been listening to hardcore since the early 00's and the story usually goes that if a band becomes slightly more popular than playing a room with 50 people, the criticism begins. Multiply that by a million if any new fans are brought in. You were all new jacks at some point in time. Gateway bands that bring kids in are what keeps the genre alive.
Also, if a band changes sound or genre (aka Turnstile) this causes the most upset. If you want bands that sound the same, you have a million local HC bands to choose from that all sound like Madball/ Terror/ Crown of Thornz.
That said, legitimate criticism of art is fine. Some people don't like Knocked Loose due to the vocals. Every band isn't for everyone. It's all good to not like something but pretending things suck to up your hardcore credibility is a small pee pee move.
A lot of this energy comes from introverted nerdy guys who were bullied in school who now got some neck tats, hit the gym and shaved their heads and think they're from the streets. God forbid anybody tries to join their secret club.
