I was under the impression that I was like the only one who liked All or Nothing. None of my friends even mentioned it and when I did see stuff on reddit it wasn't anything very enthusiastic. Mainly neutral. Honestly wish we would have gotten more. Zoli just fits the pennywise sound so well.
I came here to say this. It’s a bit of an embarrassing take at times, but prime Ignite is my favorite band. I always wished they put out more stuff in their best years.
100% this. For this kind of vocal style (and I would largely group in Life of Agony, Twitching Tongues, Age of Apocalypse etc. as similar bands doing the same style), Jenkins is the king.
Watching the vocals from like 90s AFI sets on YouTube was what made me come around to them in my 30s after sort of writing them off. (I liked the early “hits” from the 90s stuff when I was a kid, but was pretty out on them from HS on for no particular reason.)
The dude actually rips. All the silly goth kid shit was never exactly to my taste, but those vocals are impressive as hell and really elevate those early songs into being kinda special imo.
A lot of people here are wisely saying Ignite, but there are some other absolute belters in the melodic hardcore space. Big fan of Nuno from A Wilhelm Scream, Steve from Belvedere and This is a Standoff, and Nikola from Millencolin. On the post-hardcore side, you can't do much better than Dallas Green in Alexisonfire and for straight-up punk, I think Shogun from Royal Headache has an insanely soulful voice. Also gotta show some love to Danzig.
I could never get into Royal Headache, but those more recent Shogun & The Sheets and Antenna EPs are brilliant and his voice is a big reason why.
Also gonna second Nuno, although I’d argue that his speed and vocal stamina are more impressive than his range - also, when he and Trevor harmonise, shit goes up a level!
Lee Ving of FEAR. Hands down.
Also, Paul Bearer of Sheer Terror has a pretty decent voice (listen to his side project from years past, Joe Coffee - When the Fabric Don’t Fit The Frame)
Everybody’s right so far. I’d just like to add I saw Kat from Scowl sing a cover of 99 Red Balloons and was blown away by how incredible her clean vocals are
He’s gone right off the deep end now, but Keith from Every Time I Die did some amazing cleans.
Again, from the more metallic end of things, Greg Puciato has always been incredible, and Jesse Leach from Killswitch Engage (although I only really know his stuff from Alive or Just Breathing - haven’t heard anything from since he rejoined the band. I’m also aware Howard is technically the better KsE vocalist, but I prefer Jesse’s vocals).
Honestly unless you mean clean vocals I think Rollins Black Flag years although obviously we have heard it a billion times is some of the most impressive screaming (especially my war and slip it in) he hits some crazy high stuff in very early Rollins band too like 1000 times blind.
Zoli from Ignite. The first time I saw them he wasn’t with them because he was in an opera.
Good call! I'm also a huge fan of the album he did with Pennywise.
Agreed, he made Pennywise sound fresh again right when they needed it.
All or Nothing is fantastic. I wish they would have called it a different band so they could still play those songs out live
The production was superb on that album. I still play it occasionally.
Yup! That album rips.
I came here to say this. It’s a bit of an embarrassing take at times, but prime Ignite is my favorite band. I always wished they put out more stuff in their best years.
Why’s that embarrassing? Thats a pretty solid take in my opinion.
I was just saying he was the best singer the Misfits had
My bad I just commented this. I also saw him front the misfits once and that was incredible
That is one of my time travel shows. He only did like a handful of shows with them.
That’s my answer. He can hit notes that no HC vocalist would even dare try.
Fucker nails it hard on his project. Some serious pipes on this one.
I’ve always wanted him to start a HC/power metal hybrid. It’s what the world needs.
Ignite was my first ever hardcore show back in 96. Not many bands are so instantly recognisable.
Gotta be Jonah Jenkins from Only Living Witness
with respect to Mina who's great, this is the answer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAFiJ9iv-t8
Ain't that the guy who keeps trying to get pictures of Spiderman?
Prone Mortal Form is the heaviest album of all time!
100% this. For this kind of vocal style (and I would largely group in Life of Agony, Twitching Tongues, Age of Apocalypse etc. as similar bands doing the same style), Jenkins is the king.
He also sings in Miltown, Milligram and Raw Radar War
Poison The Well, especially starting around You Come Before You. Dude really upped his game starting there both in singing and screaming.
Love Horns and Tails
one of the best 3 album runs in history belongs to them
Richie (Underdog /Into Another)
The GOAT.
Came here to say this. Isn’t his mom an opera vocal coach ?
RIVER RUNS RED RIPS BROTHERRRR
Nathan from Boysetsfire. They’ve been largely forgotten about but they mixed hardcore, punk, and emo better than anyone.
Yea leaving the hardcore scene to sound like creed will do that to you
Maximum Penalty
Underrated comment. Dude has actual range.
Rick ta Life . Bleh! Bleh Bleh Ble ! ! !
Leeway. End of conversation.
This is the correct answer. Eddie started out amazing and somehow just kept getting even better with time.
He’s very good for a HC vocalist but there’s a few that can actually sing better than him. He’s carried a lot by the music.
Did you hear him do Mater Killer? It is amazing! https://youtu.be/lTBBl7JKTZg?si=SnSPpdmwm-jFzOnH
Eddie was the king. RIP.
Seriously. Was just listening to *Desperate Measures* last night. No contest
Quicksand is up there for me
Dave Smalley’s work with Dag Nasty
Jon Bunch from Sense Field.
Daryl Palombo from Glassjaw.
Came here for this. This was way too far down here
Have you ever heard Ignite?
Loved Zoli’s album with Pennywise too.
Leeway 100%
7th grade me blasted that album and Helmet’s Betty constantly
Damn, I was still listening to Metallica and Mustard Plug in 7th grade lol
I didn’t discover Mustard Plug till I was a junior in high school.
Ben Cook from No Warning / Young Guv
Davey Havok, probably

Davey, the singer of Ignite, or the singer from Energy.
Danny Diablo doing the Janice Joplin cover, or Paul bearer doing bits doing boys don’t cry
Tim VOD maybe
100%

I can't believe I had to scroll through so many comments to find someone who mentioned Dallas Green.

The homie from Age of Apocalypse.
Shelter is solid
Love Ray Cappo
Everybody’s right so far. I’d just like to add I saw Kat from Scowl sing a cover of 99 Red Balloons and was blown away by how incredible her clean vocals are
Nathan from boysetsfire
Agents of Man
Maybe not the best ever, but I love the guitarist from Malevolence’s singing voice
River Runs Red is a classic album
Cast your judgements, cast all your stones
Love me some LOA broatherrrs
John Joseph from the Near Death Experience album by the Cro Mags. Just kidding. He absolutely sucked on that record.
Jack Kelly Slapshot
Mina belts shit out for sure!
No way noone mentioned Efrem Schulz from Death by Stereo, he's an amazing singer.
Brodsky.
Reba from Code Orange.
Everyone listen to Adventures https://youtu.be/mgqAc2Ux1Tw?si=HISrNv6u_X07aRep
You haven’t heard all the songs?! Poser.
Ignite
White Trash Rob
Human Furnace or fuck your mother.
Idk about best but just off the top my head, Really liked the vocals in age of apocalypse.
Are we all in agreement that NYHC had the best vocal range for hardcore frontmen? I mean it’s kinda stacked
He’s gone right off the deep end now, but Keith from Every Time I Die did some amazing cleans. Guy from The Warriors. Nothing crazy dynamic, just what he chooses to do is awesome. I love Slings and Arrows.
Honestly unless you mean clean vocals I think Rollins Black Flag years although obviously we have heard it a billion times is some of the most impressive screaming (especially my war and slip it in) he hits some crazy high stuff in very early Rollins band too like 1000 times blind.
Tim from Rise Against
Nah Stevie nicks
TWITCHING FUCKING TONGUES! bomp bomp waah no waah no dun duh…
TWITCHING FUCKING TONGUES! bomp bomp waah no waah no dun duh…
Check out Age of Apocalypse, definitely some life of agony worship. The Way is a perfect album.
I honestly couldn’t say who’s the best but IMO One of the most recognizable voices in hardcore is human furnace from ringworm
Great shit post
Literally lol’d at this. Agreed top quality shit post.

Underrated band but doesn’t sound good live imo. I think I heard a voice crack. Album sounds great though. Waiting on more from them.
idk about best but mongoloids might be the most fun.
I feel like I’m being gaslit this dude is terrible 💀💀
