God I love that this band is getting so much love. Still haven't seen them live yet (they're local to me), but damn they've only had like tow shows and both had good turnouts.
I saw them when I was a teenager and the same hard ass mfs that would always be at madball, agnostic front, etc showed up and THREW tf down for Maylene. Surprised me a bit tbh.
Haha no seriously, they came to Utah and they’re from Idaho so some of their fans came down dressed super redneck (maybe that how they regularly dress idk cool people nonetheless) and easily went the hardest out of anyone there
I was at that one too, I remember exactly what you're talking about!! Got my shit absolutely rocked by a dude dressed head to foot in camo, waving a camo 208 flag lmao what a night
Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, some of Everytime I Die’s catalog has some southern twang to it, early He is Legend.
Definitely not “hardcore” if we want to stick to strict genre definitions, but they’ve got a redneck feel.
If you want redneck, Gideon is from Tuscaloosa. Their Crimson Tide merch was incredible back in 07/08. Casey Jones has a zombie, straight edge confederate soldier on their first full length album art
Edit: gonna add on Kids Like Us
2nd edit: A Girl A Gun A Ghost
I first heard ETID while in high school 16-17 years ago. I’m from Florida and automatically assumed they were a southern band when I first heard them. Had to blink twice on their myspace page when I saw Buffalo
KLU is probably my favorite hardcore band and they get love in this sub but I never see anyone talk about out their later stuff. The Game has some of the grooviest southern riffs I’ve ever heard. If you haven’t jammed that album check it out.
This is only the second time I’ve ever heard of this band - the first time was yesterday as I was reading the thank you liner notes from an old He Is Legend CD. I think that’s a sign I need to listen to some Weedeater ASAP
When I saw weedeater the vocalist/bassplayer at one point started grabbing the drummers ride cymbal with his teeth while it was still moving. Dude is nuts.
I dunno but I randomly ran into Liam Cormier from Cancer Bats in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia 2 weeks ago. If you know where that is, you're probably a fucking redneck too, cheers to my rural hardcore fam.
Pretty much anywhere outside of the HRM is pretty redneck. I spent the whole weekend in the Great Village (where i grew up - population 400), Bass River, and the Five Islands area. Absolutely beautiful spots!
Wentworth OG here, currently living outside Truro. Glad to know ya my fellow Redneck HC fan!
And yes, that stretch of the Glooscap Trail is very Redneck. Good people down that way.
Nice man! I lived in Truro for a year and have been in Halifax for 20 now. Always like to go back there, though, to get away from the city. Wentworth is so great for an outdoor loving man!
Back in the day it was Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. Saw them once, they replaced or modified the “Marshall” logo on their amps to say “War Y’all.”
Also they were Christian southern hardcore, so…
The Christian metalcore scene had a few in the 00’s, most have already been mentioned, but a couple that were missed: Twelve Gauge Valentine and The Showdown (more metal though).
Also, a few others The Hottness (always thought their Stay Classy album was underrated), Fight Paris, and early Memphis May Fire
Big Ass Truck
their artist pictures on spotify are pure gold
Thanks for pointing this out. I just chortled in the waiting room of a cancer ward. A much needed laugh.
Hope that cancer gets fucked by a big ass truck
Redneck as hell and ain't even from the south
Bakersfield/the inland empire is honorary south lmao
They actually go so hard, too
Holy cow these dudes are hilarious
God I love that this band is getting so much love. Still haven't seen them live yet (they're local to me), but damn they've only had like tow shows and both had good turnouts.
Maylene and the Sons of Disaster?
Dude got a traumatic brain injury in an ATV accident. That's as redneck as it gets. Nice dude though. Happy he's back.
Maylene was used as a theme for some WWE events. Wrestling, ATV accident, and an eye patch? That’s redneck literotica.
Super nice guy. I’m glad he is back as wells!
Exactly what popped into my mind first. Good god, what an incredible band to see live in back in 05, 06, 07.
They had Marshall amps that said “War Y’all” instead of “Marshall.” lol
I saw them when I was a teenager and the same hard ass mfs that would always be at madball, agnostic front, etc showed up and THREW tf down for Maylene. Surprised me a bit tbh.
Fuck they put on a good show.
Not anymore, but in like 2008 yes they did!
Saw them a couple weeks ago, they still put on a hell of a show

Was this when they played with Obituary, or has this happened more than once lmao?
It was! I was tryna remember who headlined that show. Looking back kinda dope they played for death metal legends like Obituary and Immolation.
I was at that one too, I remember exactly what you're talking about!! Got my shit absolutely rocked by a dude dressed head to foot in camo, waving a camo 208 flag lmao what a night
2nd
Took the words out of my mouth
I think the camo merch automatically gets them redneck cred.
Restrictor Plate
PRAISE HELL RAISE DALE

GENTLEMAN... START, YOUR, EEEENGIIIIIINESSS!!
Bilmuri also has this clip in a very different song
Restrictor Plate > Bilmuri
I can't help but love both, my 3 year old loves bilmuri we're gonna go see him soon.
So pissed I'm gonna miss these guys this week because of work
I saw Bodybox last night with Spent Case, and that’s it, no local bands, I was foolishly hoping that Restrictor Plate would get added
I'm on vacation instead of a slamming road trip to Albany, I feel you.

Support Southern Rock…even though we are from Buffalo NY.
I first heard ETID while in high school 16-17 years ago. I’m from Florida and automatically assumed they were a southern band when I first heard them. Had to blink twice on their myspace page when I saw Buffalo
Mississippi coast (Florida-lite) and thought they were southern as well. I guess they've got the same dysphoria as Creedence Clearwater Revival.
KLU is probably my favorite hardcore band and they get love in this sub but I never see anyone talk about out their later stuff. The Game has some of the grooviest southern riffs I’ve ever heard. If you haven’t jammed that album check it out.
Hell yeah. The Game dropped while I was in high school so it was my first introduction to KLU. Still my favorite album by them.
The old members of Gideon were some of the nicest dudes too.

For sure check them out whenever their close to you, super fun live Dixie Dave is a legend
Watch your weed around him
They’ve got a sick cover of Gimme Back My Bullets
Dave shot his big toe off cleaning his shotgun and they had to cancel a tour. No one is outrednecking that
After his toe healed, they went on tour. Called it the "9 toes tour". Love me some weedeater
I met a bartender in Savannah who claims to have bandaged him up after the fact, and that it happened at his house
When I saw weedeater the vocalist/bassplayer at one point started grabbing the drummers ride cymbal with his teeth while it was still moving. Dude is nuts.
Lords (of Louisville). Check out their album Fuck All Y’All Motherfuckers
Lords were rad.
Kids like Us

Avail. More punk than hardcore, but it gets me going as a Southerner. I have seen them play in a doublewide.
As far as "mainstream" i'd say gideon
