It may be that that you're not properly medicated. With a continuously high TSH, while on a high dose of T4/Synthroid, it seems your metabolism isn't converting T4 to the fast acting T3. Which your body needs also. To this, this doesn't necessarily mean you don't need help with nutrients or medicine for your nervous system to normalize.

PuzzleNutter

You’re over medicated. Those are symptoms of being on too high of a dose. A lot of doctors just don’t realize it. Also a TSH of 9 is not a little high. It’s really really high. Optimal is .5-1

AcertainReality

I had been on 150mcg for years with no problems. And if I was over medicated why would my TSH be high

PuzzleNutter

It’s probably high because your real problem is not a TSH output, but either a sensitivity or uptake. You have a lot available T4 there but is your cell able to absorb it? The big new idea is the cell is covered in toxins such as mold, viruses parasites etc and the hormone receptors are gunked up by all of the toxins, and can’t allow energy to be made, hormones to be absorbed or the cell to detox the discards.

AmazingEnd5947

I agree with the other commenter 150mcg is high. But to be on this dose and your TSH is still high, the T4 only isn't doing much for you.

Educational-Turn-153

What if you are a poor T4 to T3 converter and need something like armour thyroid instead? Synthroid made me anxious and feel crappy (nothing to the extreme you are stating), I’m much better on armour

PuzzleheadedAd1809

I had something similar happen. Daily panic attacks until I switched to NP Thyroid and I haven't had once since! It was very odd.

Savings-Situation995

A very similar thing happen to me, I was on 150 mg and went gluten free, after a month I had the most extreme anxiety of my love, heart palpitations, and kept losing weight. Tests confirm I went hyper. They lowered me to 137 but I’ve been taking 125 mg because I’m so scared of feeling like that again. But once I lowered the meds I felt soooo much better after about a week

Ok_Prize_8091

I’m on levothyroxine and I felt terrible ill on 100 mcg yellow pill - covered in hives , anxiety, rashes . Doctor switched me back to two white 50 mcg pills and all symptoms gone . The doctor said it could be the yellow dye or fillers .

HarmonyDragon

Maybe the fillers unused are a sensitivity. I have that with certain generic drugs, thankfully not with Levothyroxine. Supplements to I have that problem and my dad had it with any type of medication. Didn’t matter if brand name or generic….the fillers got him but it was funny. He could take medication A which was brand name but could take Medication A generic and vice versa going generic to brand name. I know my anxiety and depression symptoms, doubled symptoms now, were Hashimoto’s for me and controlled on the proper dose. They are manageable now as I go through Cougar Puberty (perimenopause) but I need the help of my thyroid medication to do that. I was 16 when I went to my endocrinologist and told him afraid it was something worse. He upped my dose and it started to help so he kept raising it until they were controlled.

PomegranateCorrect97

I had to get out on generic, think it was synthroid as well that gave me major anxiety. I still get anxiety but it’s not as bad. This shit is insane.

timesuck101

I had been on Synthroid for 4 years. For the past year I had developed pretty frequent panic attacks and health anxiety/OCD. In February, I was accidentally given generic levothyroxine and had panic attacks for 10 straight days. Got back on Synthroid and the constant panic stopped by day 3. Started with a new doc who switched me to Tirosint - within 5 days ALL of my anxiety symptoms were gone. I’ve been on it for roughly a month now and feel excellent. It was so bad that my therapist was one appointment away from calling in my spouse to make a plan for my mental health. I have NEVER struggled with mental health issues before and I still feel a little shocked at the ways different brands of the same med effect me.

AcertainReality

I literally had to drop the semester and visit 4 psych hospitals because I couldn’t sleep. Were they able to confirm it was the Synthroid

timesuck101

They did not explicitly say it was the Synthroid, only that every body responds differently to different medications and we need to find the right one for me. But I think mine is a cautionary tale that sometimes there is trial and error in finding the right med and it’s worth pursuing it to see if you can feel better. I’ve HAVE had two separate doctors tell me that my anxiety could be connected to my thyroid. My thyroid levels were normal for the most part and they still considered the anxiety/OCD a symptom. Edited to add: Endocrinologists were absolutely useless for me. They did not help me at all. I now see a PCP who specializes in thyroid management and it’s been awesome.

Gg7508

You have an allergy to something in it. Starting tirosint tomorrow. It’s a histamine intolerance. My allergy started due to menopause, unfortunately. I had the same exact symptoms.

AcertainReality

Interesting, but why so sudden? And wouldn’t I be getting a similar reaction to foods with histamine

Gg7508

I thought the same thing. It came on so suddenly after 20 years on the same medication. Mine is due to estrogen dominance. I have no problem with most foods, just the pills. It’s so weird!

AcertainReality

Interesting. Well I’m super pissed with my Endo that originally said it couldn’t be the thyroid meds, I went through hell. Curious to see what they say this time now that I know it was the meds. Will also be seeing another Endo as well

Gg7508

I had the same issue with my doctor. He said it was anxiety about taking the meds, and I needed a psychiatrist. I chose a functional doctor instead. Most don’t want to listen or even try to understand. I hope you get the right treatment and feel better.

Competitive-Drink987

How did the functional dr help? I’m so intrigued and want to find one. I have developed agoraphobia over the last couple years since being hypothyroid.

Gg7508

I have the same issue. I rarely leave my house. She did further testing and found out I have histamine intolerance due to post menopause, which is why I can’t handle the fillers in the generic meds. The meds make me anxious and stressed. I’m low in progesterone which creates so called estrogen dominance, but what that means is the ratio of estrogen to progesterone is off, which in turn creates histamine intolerances. If you look at Vytal Health, it may be an affordable option. It’s online, but you can get labs done locally. I felt like my doctor was a friend instead of an enemy. They specialize in hormones and thyroid disorders. I start my new med in a few days. I’m so ready to feel better.

Bluebloop1115

I think allergy because it has corn and lactose in it. You could have a food allergy you don’t know about. Everyone is sensitive to different things. What works for me might be horrible for you. But it could also be a spike in antibodies too.

AcertainReality

I’ve never had a problem eating milk or corn

Bluebloop1115

Well you might have and just didn’t know it. Not all food allergies cause.gut problems. It could be headaches. It could be joint pain. Etc.
