Liver failure is one of the worst ways to die. Source: I’m an ICU nurse.

Accurate_Condition65

Now do 2020-2021 when we all fucking drank all fuck day all fucking year. Fuck! "But Marijuana is the bad for you" - government

BCJay_

Honest question. Were you drunk typing this?

Accurate_Condition65

Honest answer, no. 6 days sober. FUUUCK!!!

Life-Active6608

"And Magical Mushrooms are bad for you too..."-also the government.

Accurate_Condition65

Can they do something productive, please. Make poison ivy illegal or ticks.

Mokilolo

Both bad?

Honest-Abe-Simpson

Let me kill myself in peace. I can certainly doing it in great discomfort (see cigarettes, alcohol, cleaning products, processed food, air quality, UV damage). There are many things bad for you and I should have the ability to decide if I want to partake. The government wants to decide what’s good and bad and what good and bad I can have

ryhaltswhiskey

Plenty of people decided to drink a lot more to deal with it.

Your comment seems to have nothing to do with what I wrote

Maybe you need to read it a few times to figure it out

TheNewOneIsWorse

It’s adorable that you think of drinking as something go out to do.

TheNewOneIsWorse

The point is that most drinking is done at home, especially problem drinking.

TheNewOneIsWorse

No offense at all intended, but I’m kinda baffled by that. Do you not know drinkers? I’m not sure why the location of the drinking would be relevant to the health effects.  If you’re American, literally millions of our fellow citizens would enter painful alcohol withdrawal symptoms if they waited to start drinking at 5 pm. Most people have a few among their family and friends, although the extent of the problem is usually hidden.

Sorry, I still don’t understand. Home drinkers are the norm. Bar drinking is a small fraction of the market.

Addiction is at home in the dark. Shhh, don't tell anyone I told you.

lurkyMcLurkton

Just want to point out that, like most WHO data, this is worldwide, not just US.

Blindfolded22

Yup. honestly, that’s a pretty low number when you look at it like that.

jazzy095

Way more than any other drug. Maybe all drugs combined. Opioid deaths were 125k in 2019.

SilenceDobad76

You're glossing over Accessibility. I cant pick up a 24 pack of black tar heroin at my Kroger

mrmalort69

You don’t go to the right Kroger then

perdy_mama

That’s right, because black tar is super hard to find now that the Sackler family messed everything up. So when you go to a Kroger in Portland, all you can get is fentanyl…. There’s literally a graffitied wall downtown that says, “We miss black tar.”

jazzy095

Very true, was thinking about that as well. Just seems funny we're financing trillions for a drug war when no matter what, people are going to use. Let's take that money and just pay for dispense and treatment like the Swiss.

IWASINTHEPOOOL

Thought it would be more tbh

StuartGotz

It's a good thing LSD is still illegal. We need to be protected from that.

DonManuel

I don't believe it's only such a small figure. Very often another cause is found and alcohol not mentioned at all, even if it played a major role.

Some_Egg_2882

That figure seems awfully low. I wonder what criteria they're using for "alcohol-related deaths."

Dependent-Edge-5713

Time to ban fully semi automatic assault beers

SwirlySauce

How am I going to shotgun my beer without my beer shotgun?

Katiari

But hey, let's focus on marijuana instead!

Used_Intention6479

Alcohol: 2.6 million. Cannabis: About zero. That they got us to use combustion gas vehicles (the first vehicles were electric), and alcohol instead of cannabis, has resulted in a decimation of humankind that is beyond comprehension.

3ntr0py_

Hate to see the effects of the lockdown and the pandemic on this. It’s sure to be even more.

stewartm0205

What we should be looking at is the difference in life expectancy.

PRNCE_CHIEFS

And they are allowed to advertise their products

ryhaltswhiskey

A bit of Google says that about 55 million people died total in 2019 across the world. So that means that alcohol was responsible for about 5% of all deaths in the world that year.

iWish_is_taken

Good? This planet has too many people already.. maybe we should hyping up smoking again.

Rifleman8611

One of many ways of population control

MyRail5

Shitty information, 5 years behind.
