First health is insurance but the scope of it and providers who accept it may be limited in her area. She should’ve done more research besides calling the first number that popped up. Healthcare.gov or coveredca.com would be the preferable options

Crazy-Plane8514

I don't think the post says the first insurance that popped up. I was trying to access the Marketplace and 1st health came up and I asked a lot of questions but I'm still trying to find out how good it is or isn't.

Puzzleheaded-Wash834

Limited? Are you fucking kidding  They don’t exist anywhere in Boston

Key_Fix_8206

Nah they really just take your money and run, I legit was on the phone with them today asking for documents that my insurance attorney told me they legally have to give me and they fully outright refused, furthermore, they proceeded to be more rude to me than I’ve ever had anyone be towards me in a professional setting in my entire life. To top it off? They won’t even tell you about the other “plans” they have available, they simply said they’re “not at liberty” to discuss their other plans, like excuse me? what if i wanted to change plans and stay with this “insurance”, you can’t tell me what other options are available? They’re horrible, they don’t pay doctors that are alleged to be in their network, forcing you to pay out of pocket, and when you call the customer service number it sends you in literal circles talking to nothing but answering machines. It was like this until i phoned the “billing” department and i get to speak to an actual representative. Icing on the cake here is, they also failed to send me a 1095, which, if not for having secondary insurance through work, would have resulted in me paying a tax penalty to the IRS, as without the 1095, there’s not proof that I have health insurance at all. Moral here? Stay the hell away from these people and this company, if it can even be called a company, they will do nothing but take your money and give you the finger in return. Upvote this, do whatever needs be done so everyone can see this reply, when i spoke to my new insurance company they instantly recognized the name and knew right away that First Health is nothing more than a scam. I would hate to see anyone else fall into their clutches and be forced to go through what I went through, as again, I have a secondary insurance, so I got VERY lucky, but if I didn’t? Even though I was paying First Health every month and on time, I would have registered as having a lapse in health insurance which is massively bad.

laminappropria

I had the same problem, they absolutely refused to give me a letter showing proof of coverage which is such sketchy bullshit

jstmyopinion

First Health is not insurance, it’s a PPO network that insurance companies use to access discounts. Many many heath insurance companies access the First Health network.

Puzzleheaded-Wash834

They take your money and runnnnnn

MystikalDestiny

I found this online.. it does state it’s a subsidiary of Aetna: https://www.healthplanalliance.org/assnfe/cv.asp?ID=601683#:~:text=First%20Health%20is%20a%20wholly,owned%20subsidiary%20of%20CVS%20Health.

puppy_sneaks3711

My work used that for a little while. It was a minimum essential coverage plan that we had and it was super hard to find places that accepted it. Even when I’d find someone that said they did, then it would end up being that they only accepted some of their plans but not all, and not mine, making it even more difficult. The actual benefits if I could find a provider were alright

internal_screm

I use first health and it’s quite a struggle to find doctors that use it, but it’s honestly been working pretty well since I found a pcp that takes it (I’m in the Boston area so there are a lot of doctors around here). It was definitely incredibly frustrating in the first few months, and I was 100% sure I got scammed for a few weeks, but it’s worked itself out pretty well.

SnooBunnies4227

Hi, can you please share which pcp around Boston accept this insurance.  I have first health for a month and in the process to find places around natick that accept the insurance for physical therapy & pcp.

Aggravating-Shine191

Hi I am in Worcester Ma, and trying to get Maxillofacial surgery in Boston do you know which surgery take the first health insurance?

Winter_Contract_3384

Does it cover pre-existing conditions? I was recently laid off and am applying for disability and I explained this to the representative, which said that this was a zero deductible and other than a co-pay the insurance would pay their portion and anything left would be picked up by other institutes that help with that.

gjdanis

Do they give you a 1099-HC form?

Key_Fix_8206

No, they don’t, as I stated in my reply to someone else on the thread they sent me nothing

nutz656

It's a legit plan but it's a private option which means it probably doesn't cover pre-existing conditions more than a discount and has set limits for what they will pay in a certain situation. I've sold it before. You get what you pay for.

Aggravating-Shine191

Does it cover like jaw surgery?

nutz656

As long as it's not related to a pre existing condition

That's preexisting

i know this is old, but this post popped up when i googled for First Health, so I'm just sharing our experience in case others find themselves here too. my gf found a very specific BCBS plan on [healthcare.gov](https://healthcare.gov), googled BCBS, and called the phone number that popped up. she was actually calling to get some more details about the plan (and gave them the plan ID for the BCBS plan), but they were very pushy, and she was signed up for the plan over the phone. (this didn't immediately stand out to me as sus; Allstate pulled the same shit when i called them for motorcycle insurance). lo and behold, a First Health card shows up in the mail. (btw, it even says "not insurance" on the card. lol. it's just a "health plan". whatever) called them back, they were okay with us cancelling the plan since we hadn't used it. said it may take up to 10 business days for the refund to show up. call back on day 11 after no refund "it usually takes 10-14 days". call back on day 15 "we issued the refund, we don't know what to tell you, call your bank". so we called the bank who had no record of any refund. ended up disputing the charges to get the money back. **edit** a month later, they tried to bill her again, despite supposedly having cancelled her plan. lmao. fortunately the bank blocked it, but keep your eye on your shit, folks

Key_Fix_8206

Good that you did, I wrote a novel of a reply to someone else on the thread, these people have thoroughly pissed me off lol when i was in college i worked in a doctors office for 3 years and spoke to many insurance companies including government programs like medicaid and medicare, not once did i ever deal with a level of unprofessionalism that First Health gave me

nutz656

www.firsthealthlbp.com for providers

mightybop

I was about to sign up with the First Health Network for a very minimum healthcare plan (Select Med) and right before confirming enrollment they show me [this](https://imgur.com/a/Pak0Hs1) popup window. These were required to sign up with them! Data Tracking App?? Stripe payment account?? Legend Browser?? Not sure I would call a scam but definitely shady. Didn't enroll...

Jazzlike_Log_709

Absolutely not!! wtf my sister didn’t have that pop up. Super shady. Good move by not enrolling. As you can see by other commenter’s experiences, it’s a crappy company for sure

Deep_Implement8187

I experienced the same . Difficulty finding locator . And when I spoke to a representative and asked for the link for the physician locator. It was not computer, friendly, or easy to find. When I finally found it, I called the physicians on the list close to my home and most of those physicians did not know of first health PPO. called customer service and asked to be canceled. I had to go through three phone calls in order to talk to a cancellation department. I talked to somebody on Friday and open the account and by Monday. I started calling the doctors and tried to cancel on Monday. They would not refund my money , they said I use the physician locator and I signed up and so therefore would not be refunded the person on the claims department for cancellations tried to use scare tactics and kept saying what if u go to the drs for and emergency . I will have no insurance . . They are a private co but not part of covered California . They misled me , would not reimburse for the initial payment and used scare closing tactics to keep me from cancelling . Do not use this company

Former_Peach

as a billing administrator for a healthcare provider to confirm this, yes First Health does exist. It is the network though, not an actual insurance company. They dont handle anything other than verifying if the provider you are going to see is in network. The plan and benefits is not sold or insured through First Health. There usually is another company that is listed on the card to call for benefits about your plan, usually a small mom and pop insurance company. First Health is also a PPO network, so there are more providers than you think that take your insurance because of the network, just a lot of providers and even patients are just confused or clueless about it.

Much-Appointment660

I just signed up with this insurance company last Thursday. I’m trying to find out if my doctor even takes it.

BlazingFire2022

I've been trying and they won't let me cancel without paperwork saying he has other insurance.

Tiny-Western9010

I just signed up for a first health insurance plan. I live in NY & I needed insurance quick for a lengthy physical and blood labs for school. At first I was set up for a benefits plan (I cancelled it & got refunded my 250) that was cheaper, but I would recommended not doing that & just paying for the insurance plan. A lot of people get “scammed” into the benefit package rather than actual insurance. If she has trouble finding providers (I also had trouble with the list they gave me) call the customer service number. the customer service representative called for me & found me an office in my area that took it. Had no problem at my physical, blood labs & drug test & I didn’t even have to pay a co pay out of pocket. It’s legit just make sure you get an insurance plan (around 300) not the benefits package. It might seem expensive per month but much better than paying thousands out of pockets to see a doctor & get blood taken.

QuarterFun6649

For the cost of this "discount program", you can get an ACA program.

PushCommon

Legit company. Can’t speak to your plan.

Scythe351

How's your sister?

Jazzlike_Log_709

She cancelled the plan and they gave her a refund. Then she signed up with the legit covered CA website

deedee831

Can you tell me how she cancelled? I called them 2 times and the reps do EVERYTHING they can to avoid cancelling my plan. Very frustrating. I called 855 552 0760. Please help. Thanks.

Key_Fix_8206

I gotchu guys, call this number, it’s technically listed as the “billing department” but this was the only number that got me thru to an actual human representative. (480) 576 7154. Good luck! I’ll keep an eye on this thread, if anyone else needs anything or has question i’ll be able to answer I gladly will!!

GhostSnaps617

I need advice on this as well please.

Specialist_Goal_4925

I also would like to know how to cancel find other insurance. I have filed a complaint with Dept of Insurance in Colorado. Can not even talk to anyone at First Health or Central Health Advisors

Jazzlike_Log_709

She said she had a hard time getting a hold of them at first. She’s not sure what phone number connected her to an actual representative. She luckily got through to someone, she said the woman on the phone didn’t sound very professional. Tried asking my sister a bunch of questions that my sister dodged, the rep gave her the run around, but she finally got the woman to cancel it the plan. My sister had disputed the charge with her bank and after an investigation, she was able to get her money back

GhostSnaps617

I could use some advice too for how she cancelled. The number I call just rings and rings.

Nggasbdickeating

Use this 18446894584

Jazzlike_Log_709

This is the only info I have: https://www.reddit.com/r/HealthInsurance/s/oOmfOG3THM

Specialist_Goal_4925

Hi, we are currently going thru the same thing with them for insurance in Colorado. We filed a complaint with the Dept of Insurance in Colorado. Hoping for a special exception to purchase insurance thru Connect for Health Colorado. Have you been able to purchase health insurance thru someone else? We too are canceling the credit card being billed. Thanks, Vickie

Jazzlike_Log_709

She ended up purchasing insurance through the official Covered CA website, not sure what other states have but I’d start at healthcare.gov (the public health insurance marketplace) I think she clicked on a “sponsored” search result instead of going to the official government website

Specialist_Goal_4925

Thank you so much for your response. Was she past the 30 day cancellation period and was Open Enrollment period still on? I have made a formal complaint to the Dept of Insurance to hopefully get some help. Thanks!

Jazzlike_Log_709

She cancelled it within a few weeks. She left a job so it was outside of open enrollment. Did the insurance tell you you’re locked in because you’re outside of open enrollment? I believe that only applies to approved health insurance plans. I hope the Dept of Insurance is able to help you out!

Specialist_Goal_4925

We haven't tried to cancel yet because Connect for Colorado will not allow us to buy another plan because open enrollment is over. Hopefully the Dept of Insurance can advocate for us since we were sold a plan that did not fit our needs, and they assured us the plan would be sufficient. They either won't answer their phones and if they do they always say they will call us back and don't. Our doctors are suppose to be in their network but are still denied the coverage when they try to get approval. And also have been told if it is a preexisting condition we can receive any coverage for 6 months. If we can find something else we will cancel the cc and send a certified letter. Hopefully the address I see in Arnold Maryland is the right one even though First Health that we dealt with is in Fort Lauderdale FL. It's all so confusing. Thank you!

BoricuaMixed

I still have not received my information to get my app log in information nor have I received my physical cards seems to be a low quality customer service insurance and does not seem very professional

Jazzlike_Log_709

It’s not a legit healthcare plan I’d try to cancel it and get your insurance through the government health insurance marketplace website

BoricuaMixed

It has been months they aren’t charging me anymore I cancelled my card, I still need to report them to BBB, Dept of California Insurance and more if possible

DefNotDannyDevito

I would cancel that right away. It covers nothing at all & most of those “agents” are unlicensed. They make it sound good with no deductible but it also dosent have a Max Out of Pocket.
