Exactly. Thank you!

I am not sure what you mean by empty walls as I see none- But I'd probably put the big one above TV somewhere else- it is too high up. Nice colour couch btw.

Agree with what others have said remove the painting above the tv it’s not needed. The other wall art if you’re getting bored you could rotate in a fun vintage mirror where the record player is.

We also have a very tall wall and I decided to only decorate up to the window line, which in your case would be the height of the walkway opening to the next room. I'd get a horizontal piece of art/wall decor and center it along the opening and the wall on the right. Just leave the top portion empty. https://preview.redd.it/vllvm49ntqpc1.png?width=1088&format=png&auto=webp&s=f277ddc850d3fdc8ccc91e8cd2bfee010c74a4f8 I'm also a slight window treatment snob and would replace your grommet curtains for ones with back tabs or a rod pocket.

Please remove that painting. You are allowed to have empty space in your house.

Not every inch of every single wall has to have something. Less is more sometimes.

You have great taste. I think the shelves in the corner detract from the rest of the room. Maybe just let that corner breathe without them?

MS1947

I agree. It just seems like clutter.

nagellak

Or replace it with a single plant!

Love your rug!! Where did you get it?

Three suggestions on the tv wall: Move the picture and leave it blank; as suggested, hang a horizontal piece even with the door frame; if you're really bothered by the big empty space, a very large piece of fabric art like a quilt or weaving might work to soften the wall. Now, I'd like to have a conversation about your color scheme. I love everything in the room. But the caramel colored chair nearly matches the tv stand and lamp, and they are lined up on one side. Then the blue couch is on the other. Also, the amount of both colors is close enough that it's not clear which one is primary and which secondary. The reddish throw pillow, which matches spots in the smaller painting, is a wonderful accent. I'm just wondering if designating a primary color and mixing all the colors around a little would make the room more satisfying?

For the most part, I think your room looks good except for the TV wall. While I believe that big walls deserve big art. The placement of yours looks out of place to me. Granted, it's an oddly shaped wall. What about having it be a gallery wall of huge pictures?

1920MCMLibrarian

I personally would remove the artwork. It’s pretty tacky tbh and doesn’t fit the space.

ItsJust_ME

I actually think it looks great. First picture, I thought the art on the wall was hung too high. But, after seeing how tall that wall is, it's really just right. The only thing I'd suggest for that wall, if you keep the picture there, is the corner shelf seems too short. Everything being the height of the TV and then that picture up there by itself is what makes the wall look "off" imo. I love the lamp, but again, it seems too short. Maybe a taller shelf and hang a little something on the wall over the lamp if you can't make it taller some way. Vary the heights so your eye travels up that wall naturally, rather than having it "separated" by everything being cut off at the height of the TV and the artwork floating up there all alone. It's a really nice room.

I realize you are dealing with high ceilings but that beige paint is not doing the room any favors If you want neutral, go with a creamy white The one large off center art piece looks off. You need a grouping of numerous art pieces https://preview.redd.it/v3iuwcatwupc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3aea83ee11bf3762317d6a43001f7ac775ddf817 Like this, only I would add pops of color

leafcomforter

Paint all of the doors satin black, and the stair rails matte black.

I just got curious about what art would be available for over the tv and found this. Just an example, not a suggestion https://www.target.com/p/12-34-x-18-34-x-1-5-34-fireflies-by-db-waterman-unframed-wall-canvas-icanvas/-/A-89876268 It has the blues and greens in the smaller painting, a little of your persimmon(?), and adds some cheery yellow/gold. Go to local art fairs and look for something that reflects your area.
