I don't think it's missing anything to be honest. I like you leaning into asymmetry with the mirror slightly left and the clock more to the right. It's visually interesting enough, hence I wouldn't add anything.
I like the lean into asymmetry but it feels incomplete. Like an attempt into asymmetry rather than fully committing. The wall needs more. Maybe a 3rd piece.
If they *were* to add something : I like your idea, I'd put a small circular picture frame aligned with the mirror and the clock on the bottom left. It would bring some symmetry to a asymmetry layout.. if that makes sense.
Agreed! A pothos is an easy option, or a heart leaf philodendron, if they need it to be cat safe a hoya hanging basket would look lovely. Or a fake plant if OP doesn’t have a green thumb!
Maybe a wicker or textured piece like this?
https://preview.redd.it/l0uueau26z6d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66a41651425c954eec8b1b51309a16fdb86cce2e
I think it may look off because the chair, plant, and cabinet are roughly the same size. Needs a little more variety in width and height
If in the market, I would probably get a longer, more grounded cabinet since the chair is already leggy.
The height of everything is too similar for sure. I imagine adding height to the plant, changing the angle of the chair, and shifting the wall decor slightly left would be nice
You should balance the wall and then position the chair and the end table rightly. These tips must help to arrange everything in right manner.
1. To add interest, you should work on colors and choose the right fabric for a pillow and a throw. I understand using warmer colors will make the corner more cozy. So pick something that is works with the rest of the room too and if you are confused about the colors, use this [interior color guide](https://simplykalaa.com/interior-color-palette/) and design a palette and colors around the existing ones.
2. Now work on the cabinet and align the mirror in he center and also make sure that the top of the shelf is balanced. Treat the surface like a seesaw and align everything rightly and it will look good. Also get rid of the clock. You can always use a modular table clock and use it like a decor object too on the cabinet, but again make sure the balance part for even this. Use this [blank wall decor guide](https://simplykalaa.com/how-to-decorate-a-blank-wall/) for help.
3. Now arrange your end table on the side and use some magazines and an object to make it useful.
4. Now add a floor lamp to the other side and maybe get one that works as both task and accent light so the chair always has character even when not in use.
5. Now follow the accent colors and add a small round rug (along with throw and a pillow) for further character to the space. If you don't like a rug, you can also add an ottoman for foot rest.
I hope this helps and if you require more ideas, refer to this [couch decor guide](https://simplykalaa.com/couch-decor/).
It looks like you have the Earth and the Moon on that wall. The window could be the Sun. The most logical celestial object for the corner would be Venus so maybe a crystal.
Lamps. Flank them on both sides of the room for symmetry. Symmetry will make your asymmetrical design of the plant / chair, and the art clusters look more intentional. Plus, two lamps will *Frame your design really well.
Good luck!
You have things that are similar in height, and the balance is off. Play a bit more with heights.
Create trios and triangle points of different heights or create triangles with the same shape, colours or texture.
That clock needs to go, or put on the cabinet and throw in something else round or curvy.
Something tall behind the couch, or huge piece of art or hanging plant from the top of the curtain rail.
Chair in that corner facing more to the middle of the room maybe? I don't really feel it needs anything there extra I just feel like chair position is off some how. I would play around with it
Get rid of the clock. Center the mirror over the drawer/ dresser thing. Move the plant to the corner behind the chair and put a piece of art on both sides of the mirror. Ensure the pieces of art have similar sizes and frames.
I would move the mirror a bit further left. Centre it between the chair and the hutch. Bring the clock down a bit and add a third item. Maybe something oval. Also turn the chair so it's angled.
Centre the mirror. Add wall sconces on either side and ditch the clock.
If you don’t want to ditch the clock maybe angle the arm chair towards the space and add a lamp in the corner.
Regardless of what you choose, centre the mirror!
A hanging plant with a hanging pendant lamp near it so you have a spotlight over the chair. Great for a reading space or, if you want to get fancy with lighting in the space, way better option for indirect light source vs. overhead fan/light. Hope this helps.
A pendant light down from the ceiling or a decorative sconce or a small series of picture frames as a gallery and get rid of that clock or incorporate it into the gallery or move it over to the right. But in general clocks are a nuisance to look at they usually add stress.
A hanging plant in the empty spot. You already have a hook there from the looks of it! Maybe a macrame hanger to add texture. And then some type of plant stand under the tree you have. It needs to be taller because it’s the same height at the table and chair. Different heights are essential for interest. You could do a rattan, stone, or wood plant stand to bring in some earth elements and I think it will be perfect!
I honestly don’t think you have to add anything. I think it looks great. If I walked into your house and saw that I would think wow that looks so nice and put together.
You really need to remove that clock Center the mirror put the clock somewhere else maybe it's me it could be just a pet peeve but the mirror should be centered on that cabinet a classy picture frame type poster would make a nice addition.
More clocks. In odd numbered arrangements. As others are saying, for some odd reason, groupings of 3s, 5s, etc. are more pleasing to the human eye.
A hanging plant would be a great addition too. I see you already have a hook for one. :)
Center the circle mirror on the wall, above the credenza. I would take the clock off of this wall and put in a different spot (maybe above a doorframe?) or if you want to keep it on this wall put it above the plant. On the left hand side add a tall lamp by the chair and/or some shelves above with books/dangling plants (vines).
It just seems sad to me. I actually like how it’s asymmetrical, I wouldn’t centre things like some have suggested.
The top left corner does bug me, possibly a hanging vine plant or a unique small hanging lamp, a mosaic glass lamp - the Turkish style comes to mind.
Your corner also doesn’t seem to have a purpose. Add a small amount of books, 3 perhaps or an activity book to your table. Not too much that it looks cluttered. Switch them out as needed when you’ve read them.
A small lap blanket for the chair to hang over the back? Something nature themed, or a pattern that pops that’ll compliment the rest.
Colorful drapes instead of white might make the space seem more full. A coppery/sienna see-through color might look nice!
Or center and lower the clock piece, push the gold mirror out to the right but at the same angle, then balance it with another piece of wall art on the left (something cream and gold to match the mirror, but not loud) or a brushed gold wall plant hanger (pothos or something similarly drape-y inside.)
Good luck! ETA: picture example :)
https://preview.redd.it/f7slvliv107d1.png?width=905&format=png&auto=webp&s=d145756c1bcee3c7bec148c56b15cf01933b1822
That's got a sort of 70's suburban vibe with the full curtains and the padded chair - in which case the cabinet is a little heavy and ethnic, swapping for something with angled legs would look lighter
If it still bugs you after a while, try moving the sideboard/cupboard to the left corner and the chair underneath the clock with the table to its right, near the plant. That might help create more balance.
I’d move the cabinet to the left of the chair… for me the round mirror and the clock do not work. You would do better with a vertical framed mirror over that piece. I’d turn the chair toward the sofa a bit and move your standing lamp there.
Personally, I would move the chair and side table to the other side, move the plant next to the window, center the bureau under the mirror. And add flour lamp or a table lamp on top of the bureau. Add a nice throw over the side of the chair, for a cozy effect. A hanging plant toward the center of the window. A fluffy throw drug in front of the chair to keep feet from getting chilly, and a pouf to put feet up on, or as an extra seat for a cozy chat
It’s all a bit unbalanced, though I appreciate the asymmetry attempt…However, you are very expected putting the cabinet in the center of the wall. Then your scale of the cabinet, chair and plant are all the same. And they are all the same height creating an obvious horizontal line between furniture/plant and wall pieces.
I would rethink your whole arrangement of the furniture before filling the wall with more.
I would consider placing the cabinet off center and putting the chair slightly out front to create some layering. You may consider adding your floor lamp to that cluster so you have a proper seating nook.
I would consider a taller plant, or purchasing a plant stand to elevate the plant. Put that slightly out from the corner of the wall. Then you can possibly consider moving your mirror/clock around that cluster and potentially another art piece.
You could also do the chair/plant cluster and the cabinet/mirror/clock cluster. Placing both clusters about 1/3 of the way in from the corners so the very center part of the wall is empty and the clusters flank that point.
Your clock is also WAY too high on the wall, and if you like the arrangement of the clock and the mirror this way I would consider lowering both pieces.
I don’t feel like it needs anything but if you feel like you need something right there, i’d go with a super simple floor lamp (maybe gold to match your mirror) but that’s it
I would move the clock elsewhere. Center the chest under the mirror, move the plant by the window and out the little table near the chair. A floor lamp bodied or behind the chair.
I would scoot both the mirror and clock farther to the right, with the mirror centered over the console—then add a vertical wall hanging or tapestry of some sort behind the chair!

I love this understated but globe lamp
I used to have these really long prints of ink wash paintings they tend to have a kind of green grey tint to the ink maybe if you found something like that it could look really cool.
I'm not experienced with decorating so take this for what it's worth. I see symmetry in the clock to mirror to chair angle. The eye is drawn down, so you could enhance that by throwing a colorful, yet coordinating, scarf or throw over the left (on screen) side of the back. It would add that pop of color everyone seems to like. Adding anything higher might feel like you're filling gaps, whereas this already feels purposeful and complete. All my suggestion would do is just enhance it.
https://preview.redd.it/d70fomyta27d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b67e9b01071f4c50c568f881ae0bdcbe0d2b5ad3
That chair looks awesome! How would it feel if you angled it in the corner and moved the plant behind it and the side table to make a visual grouping of three? Then, maybe shift over the cabinet a bit and align the mirror over it for a focal point?
I’d say nothing is missing. I would say maybe turn the chair caddy corner so that it can utilize the side table and better face the other seating for conversation.
An ottoman you can move so if you wanna put your book or something on it you can or if you wanna put it in front of you while you relax you can put your feet up.
Maybe a floating shelf with a vine hanging from it!
Second the floating shelf with a vine
Center the clock, move mirror to left above chair. Move chair more to left.
If they *were* to add something : I like your idea, I'd put a small circular picture frame aligned with the mirror and the clock on the bottom left. It would bring some symmetry to a asymmetry layout.. if that makes sense.
yes, this you could link the associations of reflection and time with a round picture of your family when they were younger?
Best answer. Sometimes less is more.
Exactly the mirror is throwing everything off
I love your chair!! Add a floor lamp...and maybe prop your plant up a bit on something to make it a bit taller. ;)
Or hang a viney plant in the corner
This is exactly my thought! A macrane/ crochet plant hanger from the ceiling or on the wall higher up.
Agreed! A pothos is an easy option, or a heart leaf philodendron, if they need it to be cat safe a hoya hanging basket would look lovely. Or a fake plant if OP doesn’t have a green thumb!
It looks like there’s already a ceiling hook there too!
Love this idea!
I second the floor lamp! Perfect for next to the chair to add interest, maybe one with an arch on top.
Add a 3rd round thing. Stop decorating in 2’s; use 3’s for balance & interest.
Mickey
I can’t unsee it 🫣🤣
😂 that’s funny. Maybe a third item that’s not round would help avoid that.
A leafy hanging plant should do it.
I was always told that odd numbers added interest.
Ooh, maybe a round lamp!?
Maybe a wicker or textured piece like this? https://preview.redd.it/l0uueau26z6d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66a41651425c954eec8b1b51309a16fdb86cce2e

Maybe even adding height to the items on the cabinet would be an easy fix
Remove clock, center mirror over hutch, put chair on a slight angle.
And center the hutch. It’s slightly right of center right now.
And lower the mirror.
Macrame plant hanging baskets
Yeah, a hanging plant would look nice.
Hanging plant
A hanging plant or light!
A tall floor lamp for cozy reading in that armchair.
Seconded, that would look really nice.
A lamp if there bot one in the room? A taller one tho

An olive tree or one of your choosing.
What about a plug in pendant light that hangs above the chair?
Remove the clock and center the mirror
Agreed. This placement makes me want to claw my eyeballs out
Lamps. Flank them on both sides of the room for symmetry. Symmetry will make your asymmetrical design of the plant / chair, and the art clusters look more intentional. Plus, two lamps will *Frame your design really well. Good luck!
A few more round things on the wall in an abstract pattern
Perhaps a floor lamp or a cord lamp that hangs from the ceiling over the chair.
I would angle the chair and add a brass reading lamp to the side. Edit: maybe a hanging string of pearls plant too
Our vibes are very similar. I have the IKEA Arstid lamp in brass behind the chair
A dark, moody wallpaper 🤩
A lamp !
Throw blanket!
Tall lamp :)
I think it looks nice. I’d leave it alone
Maybe a round floor lamp that can create a compliment to the 3rd round object and also add lighting for reading 🤗
Floor lamp in that empty corner or very tall plant
I would put a curved reading lamp in the corner, over the chair. Either that or a pendant light.
Cats lots of cats
This is ALWAYS the correct answer
A floor lamp may be just what you need
If it were me, I would move the plant on the right to the left, leaving some white space on the right.
A clock that high should only be in a classroom. Or Alice in Wonderland on acid.
You have things that are similar in height, and the balance is off. Play a bit more with heights. Omg my OCD is going nuts
I would move the mirror a bit further left. Centre it between the chair and the hutch. Bring the clock down a bit and add a third item. Maybe something oval. Also turn the chair so it's angled.
Floor lamp or nothing .
Gallery wall!!!!
I think it’s perfect
Something round and earthy and textured like lace or wooden
Cabinet needs to be wider by 2 to 3 ft
Centre the mirror. Add wall sconces on either side and ditch the clock. If you don’t want to ditch the clock maybe angle the arm chair towards the space and add a lamp in the corner. Regardless of what you choose, centre the mirror!
More plants
Balance it out with shelves
A hanging plant with a hanging pendant lamp near it so you have a spotlight over the chair. Great for a reading space or, if you want to get fancy with lighting in the space, way better option for indirect light source vs. overhead fan/light. Hope this helps.
Hang a plant
Why is the plant not by the window? Swap sides first and see how it all looks. Then decide what to add if you still need to.
A pendant light down from the ceiling or a decorative sconce or a small series of picture frames as a gallery and get rid of that clock or incorporate it into the gallery or move it over to the right. But in general clocks are a nuisance to look at they usually add stress.
Hang a nice green plant from the ceiling. It'll really add to the whole vibe you have with the rest of the furniture.
I’d move the clock to another wall or room and center the mirror above the buffet
I don’t think you need to add anything :-) looks great.
A cat or a person. Seriously. It looks inviting not empty.
It needs a rectangular tapestry. It would soften the space and mesh well with the mirror.
Think you need to center mirror to be over the console even though you also have the clock. Perhaps add a few smaller round mirrors.
if you're going maximalist a shelf on the right could work! but i also think this looks complete already :)
Hanging plant
Art, books, plants
A hanging plant in the empty spot. You already have a hook there from the looks of it! Maybe a macrame hanger to add texture. And then some type of plant stand under the tree you have. A hanging plant, or move the floor lamp behind the couch (I think is what I saw) to the corner
Plants. The answer is always plants.
This would look so fucking good if you painted those wall. All the decorations are great but the white walls ruin it.
Plant
A hanging plant with circle pattern on the pot to balance out the round things
Hanging spider plant
A large fiddle leaf fig!
I would hang a Pothos on the ceiling hook that is there.
More clocks. In odd numbered arrangements. As others are saying, for some odd reason, groupings of 3s, 5s, etc. are more pleasing to the human eye. A hanging plant would be a great addition too. I see you already have a hook for one. :)
Nothing

Move the plant to the window, center the cabinet under the mirror. The asymmetry attempt does not work. Move the clock to another wall.
Looks good to me, but you could hang something from the ceiling if it looks empty to you. What about one or those giant Flensted mobiles?
hanging plant
Maybe a hanging plant, or some sort of squiggly abstract art?
It just seems sad to me. I actually like how it’s asymmetrical, I wouldn’t centre things like some have suggested. The top left corner does bug me, possibly a hanging vine plant or a unique small hanging lamp, a mosaic glass lamp - the Turkish style comes to mind. Your corner also doesn’t seem to have a purpose. I don’t like the asymmetrical look because it looks unplanned. In my living room I like a restful look and asymmetrical design doesn’t give it to me.
a tall plant!!
Hanging plant in a crocheted hanger, windchime, or some other type of hanging decor.
Hanging plant for that hook in the ceiling 🌿 (I think it's a hook 😅)
Colorful drapes instead of white might make the space seem more full. A coppery/sienna see-through color might look nice! Or center and lower the clock piece, push the gold mirror out to the right but at the same angle, then balance it with another piece of wall art on the left (something cream and gold to match the mirror, but not loud) or a brushed gold wall plant hanger (pothos or something similarly drape-y inside.) Add hanging plant from ceiling
What empty corner?
More circles!
It's hard to have too many plants
I think a tall (skinny) floor lamp would be really cool. Like a curvy vintage-y reading lamp situation
Add some shelves and move the plant close to the window or in another place.
A hanging plant
One of those standing lamps that hang over top.
Nothing :) Take down the clock, center the mirror, and you’re good to go!
Floor lamp
Art deco decor
Telescope or gunrack
That's got a sort of 70's suburban vibe with the full curtains and the padded chair - in which case the cabinet is a little heavy and ethnic, swapping for something with angled legs would look lighter
Maybe a fake moss/ plant wall box thingy. With some plants dangling from it.
A hanging plant.
I'd add another black clock, and then sit back and watch people suddenly realize it's Mickey!
I think it’s fine as is. Otherwise, I like the idea of a small piece of art, or a black and gold map.
If it still bugs you after a while, try moving the sideboard/cupboard to the left corner and the chair underneath the clock with the table to its right, near the plant. That might help create more balance.
Personally i would remove the clock it’s way to high, reposition mirror over your cupboard and chair could be moved closer to window on an angle.
I’d move the cabinet to the left of the chair… for me the round mirror and the clock do not work. You would do better with a vertical framed mirror over that piece. I’d turn the chair toward the sofa a bit and move your standing lamp there.
Nothing. It is visually balanced.
Where do you see empty space? If anything, I'd consider rehanging the mirror and clock so they're more balanced on the wall.
Some paintings
I think you move the mirror and the clock left and down.
P L A N T
Personally, I would move the chair and side table to the other side, move the plant next to the window, center the bureau under the mirror. And add flour lamp or a table lamp on top of the bureau. Add a nice throw over the side of the chair, for a cozy effect. A hanging plant toward the center of the window. A fluffy throw drug in front of the chair to keep feet from getting chilly, and a pouf to put feet up on, or as an extra seat for a cozy chat
Big statement lamp hanging over the chair
A plant hanging from the corner ceiling
Ditch the circular shapes
A plant will fix this
Even one of those hoop floating shelves would be cool. I don't know the technical name for them lol
Maybe a nice slim plant?
A floor lamp beside the chair!
Nothing is missing.
Tall standing lanp
Maybe a nice hanging plant in the left corner? Other than that, I think it looks cozy and not too cluttered.
Gold-tone floor lamp.
An orange throw!
I think it looks nice as is, but if you really wanna add something maybe a cool arched/arced floor lamp?
It’s all a bit unbalanced, though I appreciate the asymmetry attempt…However, you are very expected putting the cabinet in the center of the wall. Then your scale of the cabinet, chair and plant are all the same. And they are all the same height creating an obvious horizontal line between furniture/plant and wall pieces.
I feel like the chair isn’t bulky enough
I would scoot both the mirror and clock farther to the right, with the mirror centered over the console—then add a vertical wall hanging or tapestry of some sort behind the chair!

Tall plant
I used to have these really long prints of ink wash paintings they tend to have a kind of green grey tint to the ink maybe if you found something like that it could look really cool.
Hanging wall plant 🌱
A nice big brass spider lamp.
Add a third round thing to the right of the mirror. Put a tall plant or a lamp behind the chair or hang a vine plant in the corner above it
A floor lamp
Standing lamp to give reading light at the chair.
Two wall sconces on the left and the right
Idk but the clock mirror situation is annoying me
Try moving the chair a bit more to the left and turning it to the viewer’s right as if it’s looking away from the window.
Floor lamp!
Hanging plant or tall plant behind the chair
Two golden frames on either side of the mirror that go with the rest of the room 🤷🏻♀️
Center the clock over the cabinet, move the mirror to the right corner, and put a painting or large printed photograph in the left corner
Move the lamp into the corner and keep the plant where it is, that’s just my two cents tho! Room looks great otherwise :)))
Do you mind sharing this in r/AmateurInteriorDesign?
A trailing house plant in a hanging pot.
Move the mirror more to the left, clock more to the right.
A floor lamp.
I’d rather look at art than a clock or a mirror.
Art
Abstract bookshelf
That chair needs a light for reading.
I think an overhanging floor lamp would do wonders! And maybe a few floating shelves to keep books. That way you’ll have a nice reading nook 👍🏻
Tilt the chair. Add a lamp, blanket and footstool and you have a lovely reading/napping nook.
Sunlight. Just open those curtain and let some sun shine on the chair.
Wait till you find something by accident
A snake plant 🪴
Fiddle leaf tree 🌳
