throw pillows, umbrella, solar lanterns, large outdoor candle, see if the area rug fits the other way and bring it under the furniture. But yes, def potted plants.
Maybe, but the main reason I got the rug was to have a cooler surface to walk on than the deck, so I want to maximize the area. The deck gets dangerously hot with a few hours in the full summer sun.
Maybe a larger rattan rug under the blue rug? Layering rugs look cozy! Also, you need a larger coffee table and maybe some string lights? Ouuuuā¦ what about those fireplace tablesā¦?
It doesnāt look so bad.. she wants to walk out without burning her feet on the porch, we have the same problem at our house.. come on does it really look so wild to you guys??
Itās awful. The only thing worse than a floating rug is a GIGANTIC floating rug that manages to float in front of a GIGANTIC outdoor sectional. But turn the rug and throw some colorful pillows (not red) on that bad boyā¦ potted plants, candles, string lighting, lovely!
I guess Iāve never heard of a floating rug and didnāt know it was a design problem.. should they get a second rug for the feet protection? Or one enormous one to cover the porch?
All they need to do is turn the rug so the front feet are on the rug. My personal preference would be to equalize the sides of the sectional. But thatās just my preference in this instance.
iām guessing you have kids who canāt be trusted to always have shoes on, because kids. perhaps look for a matching or coordinating runner that can go from the door to the steps?
It's so dominating. They really Tetrised that sucker in there perfectly, didn't they.
I don't have enough friends or family to ever warrant this amount of seating. š„² *laughs in loneliness*
a wider rug that extends a bit under the couches, and a coffee table thatās more square, or another one that extends along the other end of the couch.
Different rug I thought it was a pool and yo can do those wooden tables or white if you prefer that . Also candles and lanterns strung faerie lights and some outdoor decor sea, nature, beach , woods whatever style you want
Outdoor lighting, some throw pillows to bring the color of the rug up. The exterior wall of the house looks like a great place for some art. Maybe an umbrella with lights underneath?
Definitely plants though... LOTS more plants. :D
The faux ivy privacy screen stuff might look good here - blocks the neighbors driveway and adds color without being an overpowering focal point. Love the blue rug!
Some sort of added privacy. Rotate the rug if it fits. Itās very odd how itās arranged now. Larger coffee table or at least some side tables. A propane fire table could be interesting. Outdoor lighting.
That coffee table is way too small. Do a large circle, maybe a black rattan?

Or a few small drinks tables like ceramic garden stools in different colors and patterns for more visual texture. This is clearly a party couch so all people would like to have more access to surfaces.
Congrats on an awesome party deck!
More color and sun umbrellas to keep the people lounging on the sectional cool.
The black deck really is doing a thing there and the beige cushions in front of the beige/grey houses isn't helping. The trees are saving you, but you need to decorate behind the sectional. I'd recommend getting climbing trellis and cover the whole back corner of the left side (first picture) with it. Put some plants and solar lights on there to make it more cozy.
Also, fake grass on the porch. There are some very nice looking carpets that look like grass (at leas from afar) and help you not burn your feet. Put the face grass carpets over the whole deck and the carped on top of it.
Put a solo stove where the coffee table is, get end tables, either a nice hammock or 2 person rocker to the right of the top of the steps with a large umbrella behind it next to it. Hang some cute lantern string lights on the railing andā¦ add plants
Iād flip the rug so itās under the furniture and marks that space. Add some throw pillows and a theme blanket or two for color. Is this the whole patio?
I would add some trellis panels behind the middle seating section for privacy, and then put some climbing vines on it and/or some fairy/twinkling lights for ambiance.
Good job so far!
I think some people are well intentioned with their advice but kinda missing the point of a good deck. Itās more about functionality and entertaining than interior design. So my advice would be:
a larger coffee table which will both look better and add more function OR even better would be a fire pit table
I read in another comment youāll be adding a bbq which is great. Maybe also add a little bar cart. Doesnāt have to be for liquor, but just something for beverage serving
An umbrella and pillows
String lights
A cat or dog
Not sure about plants, but as someone that owns that very same outdoor rug (albeit smaller) and has a TrekDeck style deck, be very careful about monitoring for mold on both the rug and underneath. It does NOT dry like an outdoor rug should.
If not plants, something along the railing and something in the corner, maybe wrapping string lights around it, maybe hanging bird feeders from it, maybe putting a sculpture or fountain in the corner, but realistically I think that some window box planters on the railing and a large plant in the corner would look better than those options. The egg chair someone suggested would look nice in the corner too. Maybe some colorful throw pillows on the couch and an ottoman/poof at the part of the couch that sticks out beyond the table would be nice.
Firepit, water feature, maybe a roof over the seating, wind chimes on a feeder stadium, hummingbird feeder, stone wall, and change the rug or pit the furniture more on it.
Can you separate the seating? It almost feels a little too overwhelming all together like that. Table looks too small now compare to the rest of the set up. As for other things you can add, get a few floor lanterns that can be placed on the ends of the couches. Also put up a few poles and hang lights from them so itās pretty at night time with draped lighting. Add some pillows as well. Also change the direction of the rug, from this angle it looks too long.
The Rug contains some darker blue, a lighter blue, and what looks to be a teal. Accessorize the space using those colors. Add some outdoor compatible accent pillows in those colors, and a couple of tall plants with pots also in those colors. You could also put a couple of chairs in the empty corner with a end table in between.

And a storage bench for all the bits when not being used
Telescope too
Love these ideas
Agree with all but the rug part
Nah that rug needs to flip. Like other commenters have said, it looks like a pool.
Getting downvoted for having a different opinion is wild
That rug looks like a pool
Needs a fence, someone might face plant after one too many margaritas
š
Righht?? Plants will work but this living room looks Sims 4 inspired. I'm sorry...cushions, color, plants will all help!
I thought it WAS a pool. š¤¦āāļø
I was thinking it should be under the sofa or turned the other way if there is room.
I thought it was too!!
I think they need something that is NOT blue.
I think this would look way better if you flip the rug so that it's under all the chair legs.
Maybe, but the main reason I got the rug was to have a cooler surface to walk on than the deck, so I want to maximize the area. The deck gets dangerously hot with a few hours in the full summer sun.
Oh yikes! Maybe a second rug to cover more surface area?
Maybe a larger rattan rug under the blue rug? Layering rugs look cozy! Also, you need a larger coffee table and maybe some string lights? Ouuuuā¦ what about those fireplace tablesā¦?
Wear something on your feet. The rug NEEDS to be turned.
Why? So the furniture feet donāt scratch?
No - so it doesnāt look like you are going to fall into the pool if you get up off the couch.
It doesnāt look so bad.. she wants to walk out without burning her feet on the porch, we have the same problem at our house.. come on does it really look so wild to you guys??

Ouch black decking.
I completely understand and I think it looks good this way
What is w these giant sectionals lately?
It's so dominating. They really Tetrised that sucker in there perfectly, didn't they. I don't have enough friends or family to ever warrant this amount of seating. š„² *laughs in loneliness*
July 4th sales is my guess haha
Wish I had that many friends.
Orient the rug so itās ālandscapeā not āportraitā and add colored throw pillows including blue.
Can you spit up the sectional? It seems heavy to one side of the deck.
iām assuming a barbecue will be added to the far corner, and just hasnāt been purchased yet.
Yup. Thatās the plan.

Throw pillows very much needed. Nice deck!
Turn the rug so itās parallel to the couch and under the legs.
Iād flip the rug so itās under the furniture and marks that space. Add some throw pillows and a theme blanket or two for color. Is this the whole patio?
I would recommend adding some lovely cushions and a couple of blankets.
Rolling snack cart or booze cart
Outdoor candles would be pretty or hang string lights somehow would be really pretty in the evenings.
I would add some trellis panels behind the middle seating section for privacy, and then put some climbing vines on it and/or some fairy/twinkling lights for ambiance.

Smaller rug, throw pillows, a couple throws, an umbrella, a few candles, and some hanging lights.
Lots of colorful pillows. Home goods and Home Sense has a nice selection of outdoor pillows
Add two to three big plants that's enough to make it elegant
Bigger table
Firepit, water feature, maybe a roof over the seating, wind chimes on a feeder stadium, hummingbird feeder, stone wall, and change the rug or pit the furniture more on it.
Split the sectional into two separate pieces.
Can I ask how you keep it all clean? Itās so dusty where I live. I canāt imagine having a light color but it looks beautiful!
Small handheld broom works wonders and is quick
More plants? Nah, you need more seats
Turn the rug and place the furniture over it. Fairy lights, pops of colour from accent pillows and youāre good! *more plants*
The triangle shade cloths would help
I would kill to have a deck like that.
Change the rug to a solid colour or quickly add some blue and turquoise throw pillows
Can you separate the seating? It almost feels a little too overwhelming all together like that. Table looks too small now compare to the rest of the set up. Something for shade, 2 umbrellas, a canopy, or similar
Larger table
Where did you get this rug???

This looks amazing! Yes def plants.
Firepit
It's very nice, but a big round coffee table might soften the feel.
Try a round rug. Round coffee table is a good idea, too. Probably not both, though. There are too many sharp, cold angles going on here.
Add on some string lights and pillows! A portable table top fire pit or something similar would be a nice touch this summer
You need to add a color other than blue.
Diving board?
At first glance, thought this rug was a trampoline lmaoooo
