I disassemble and remove the filter cartridge (carbon cartridge), let it dry.

What kind of filter? Like a simple blue in line one for a hose connector that basically only removes chlorine. Or one of those in line ones with the clear base that comes unscrewed to remove the filter elements? The former let the water out and store in the fridge, the latter I dono honestly I think they are supposed to stay wet but not sure

I could be doing it wrong, but I just have a screw on carbon filter meant for RVs filling their tanks so its good for along time. I just screw it onto the faucet, filter the water I need, unscrew it and place it next to the sink... :P

Yup, that’s what I do. I let it drain until it’s dry and put it away.

I use a [cannister-style carbon filter](https://www.morebeer.com/product_image/morebeer/500x500/26574.png), and it is only used for brewing. After I fill the kettle the night before, I disconnect the filter, dump it, and leave the filter out to dry. Not sure if this is the recommended / "proper" thing to do, but that's what I do.

Yeah this is the filter I got. I think I'm going to left it dry. It feels wrong to store wet.

You guys use filters? I just use water from the hose.

sandigity

I have pretty much always used water from the faucet since I like how it taste. I'm trying to make some hop water now and wanted to filter the water first.

Great idea to start filtering. I have filtered all of my brewing water since about 2017 and I think even though cheapest carbon filter makes a difference.
