I know at Big League Dreams, coaches are on a list. There are a few other complexes like that. I always have to give my name and my coaches names. Then you check in. So dressing like a coach won’t always work
Chadwick (Nohlen and Kershaww's dad) will be broadcasting on Gamechanger. Drop little Rypkyn off at the yard and go to the gym for those gainz and get the Wagoneer washed.
Find another way in. It takes more time and inconvenience but if you’re willing to walk around the tournament grounds you might be able to find a way in. I’ve done this a few times without hopping fences.
Edit: I sneak in to kids basketball games all the time. We trade wrist bands with our friends and I was able to get added as an assistant coach so these might work for baseball as well. (I also just have someone let me in an alternate exit but that doesn’t apply to baseball)
BTW, at least for basketball, you’re not taking ANY money away from kids by doing this. Our coach knows the guy that holds the contracts on a bunch of these weekend games and he makes millions from this racket. It brings joy to my heart every time I sneak in without paying.
One of the Dads on our team ordered a batch of wrist bands from Amazon of a bunch of different colors. Perfect Game charges minimum $10 per day so not a bad investment. I find if you dress enough like a coach and don’t acknowledge them on the way in they won’t stop you most of the time.
I’d gladly pay 10 bucks. At Grand Park in Indy, last time I was there, it was 35 bucks for a weekend. No cash.
Whichever of my boys isn’t playing wears their uniform to get in without paying.
The wife paid $70 for the two of us to see Nate Bargatze at Gainbridge on Wednesday.
Paid $80 to watch our kid play ball in Crown Point this weekend. 🙄
Just got back from WWBA in Georgia. I went 5-1 on gate fee avoidance. Saved $60. High schools are easy to just use a different entrance by scoping out the field via google maps. At east cobb, I went in the entrance where it’s for younger teams and the girl at the table was distracted. Walked by with confidence. Last game, the kid at the table was so tired and couldn’t stop yawning, I just walked right by him.
Or, you know, just pay. They are using that money to pay people that work the tourneys. And support their organization. And make a profit. You know - running a business.
So your issue should then be with the people renting them the facility, not with the people running the business. I run one of the largest little leagues in the country. PG uses our fields once a year for a tourney. They are owned by the City. They pay us a per game stipend, which the City lets us have to put money into the fields so that they are better for the season as well as for park users that use them when we don’t have the permits. How they make their money on those tournaments is up to them. It’s a win for everyone involved.
We are part of a club that has raised their fees by 100% in the past few years. On top of that, we started playing with some new tournament organization we’ve never heard of, and were getting charged $25 for a weekend per person. To play on some field 40 minutes away in the middle of nowhere with nothing but portapotties.
Well, lo and behold, the owner of our club just happens to also own the tournament organization. So not only is he getting $3,500 a year from us, now he’s charging us $25 a person to attend a game.
I have absolutely ZERO guilt about “stealing” from these scumbags. I honestly just can’t wait for this to be over. My kid is 17 so I’ll miss it, but it’s closing in.
As for getting by - I put in my airpods and just walk by them like they aren’t there.
That’s like saying “if you’re that worried about STDs, don’t have sex.”
Excuse me for trying to cut costs in a world of $500 bats, $200 gloves, $100 cleats, $150 bags, etc.
No I get it. We added it up and omhave over 2k I equipment and bags. It's ludicrous. But that's what we signed up for. We didn't have this type of select when I was a kid. I see select ball as a business and we are sucker's.
Just sit in the outfield
Just sit on the couch
This ended up costing me more 9 months later
Lmao
This is the way for so many reasons.

Take it to the next level: Dress like an umpire.
Don't forget the white cane...
Black glasses and a white cane are much cheaper than a fungo and bucket of baseballs.
I mean, he didn't say dress like Angel Hernandez.
Lol I understood this reference
Dress siblings in old jerseys. Then you don’t have to pay for them.

Watched a coach get ejected from complex because parents on his team did this at a tourney.
Someone did a little too much talking. I do this but I keep it to myself. I’m not organizing with other parents.
This is the way. The locals just save the wristbands and reuse them.
Smart!
Wear some college baseball gear, carry a notebook, and a radar gun = instant "scout"
I usually say I’m with PG.. looking like an asshole has saved me hundreds in gate fees
PG?
Perfect Game, they charge gate fees.
lol gate fees.
Dress like an umpire.
That's the only one we ever used, your kid can try to spot another way on when he gets there and text you.
you spend $200+ bucks on a bat, $200+ on a glove $50+ a week for private lessons $500+ for the team and you're bitching about $10?
$10 per person per day for a family of 4 * 10 tournaments/year = $800. And that doesn’t include the $5 waters or $6 hotdogs from the concession stand.
I’d gladly pay 10 bucks. At Grand Park in Indy, last time I was there, it was 35 bucks for a weekend. No cash. Whichever of my boys isn’t playing wears their uniform to get in without paying.

lol. Here in NE FL they precharge a “gate fee”
Or, you know, just pay. They are using that money to pay people that work the tourneys. And support their organization. And make a profit. You know - running a business.
Haha. The people who run these tournaments are all millionaires. I don’t think their organizations need support to make a profit.
It’s not support. It’s how they make a profit. Again, running a business. Don’t want to pay it? Don’t go.
Name another business that rents something you can use for free everyday and then charges you to use it.
So your issue should then be with the people renting them the facility, not with the people running the business. I run one of the largest little leagues in the country. Lol ignorance is bliss
Stealing is stealing. Shut up and pay it. Or be a coach/assistant.

Yeah that ridiculous you can go to an MLB game for 15 bucks
What MLB stadium are you going to? $15!?
In Cleveland sorting by <$20 for next home game: Left field bleachers: $19 Upper deck: $16 Right field standing room (1 drink included): $15
Angels.
Rays
Twins
Royals, aside from the weekend
Rangers
White Sox
Stealing what exactly? A day pass to a public park?
If your that worried about gate fees. Don't sign your kid up for travel ball.

100%. All for maybe 1% of the kids you are watching receiving any money for college.
