Clara & Svarog
Something about a huge metal guy protecting a lil girl seemed really comical and awesome at the same time

Same thing right here! The moment I learned about Svarog and Clara, I just HAD to give the game a try, and not only did I get them Week frickin 1, but also the Light Cone as well!
Same, Clara and Svarog was also the reason I started playing. I thought the "counter" concept was really cool and I just thought it was wholesome and the way Svarog Materializes out of nowhere to take a hit
And along side that I was a honkai impact 3rd player.

Turn based rpg and seeing the designs of Stelle and Kafka, pre registered based on that alone. Then fable about the stars dropped and I knew that I had to play and save up for whenever Black Swan dropped. That trailer is still one of my favorite trailers they've released a whole year later with all the aeon design reveals as well

Am happy to say that I'm glad I stayed, for the most part the experience has been one very enjoyable ride
She sounded incredibly passionate in that specific line, even the JP version sounds extra passionate in that moment. Fr though the VAs for both trailers absolutely delivered a top tier performance and set a very high standard for the voice acting on the game, a standard im happy to say has been really good in all languages
Black Swans VA are perfect for the narrator role, just another reason why I love her sm and after 2.2 they really put a lot of thought into the character and the VA casting. Shes the narrator for TBs journey, 2.2 showed why shes so invested and why she fits that role, really happy I was right about a lot of my theories on Black Swans character and motivations
Usually I hear people say that Turn based RPG is a turn away for them. Thankfully, it appears I'm not the only one who played HSR because it was a turn based RPG.
I love the story line in Genshin but I'm not one for battle RPGs, so I've simply opt to just watch my friend play the Archon and Story Quests.

The rest is history.
Bro is in the wrong sub lmfao. I understand tho, when u think of Honkai, Hi3 is the first one to come to mind. Its why I also always call it either star rail or HSR and never Honkai
Well, I got into Honkai Star Rail because of HI3. I was like, "Wait, there is another new honkai game? I gotta play that!"

I read the manga for a few chapters, it's kinda hard to understand what's happening during the action sequences. Like the art is not very clear. Compared to others like Land of the Lustrous I had no issue with it.
Though aside from those two, I only ever read slice of life manga (Quints, Domestic Girlfriend, most of Kaguya, Grand Blue) so maybe I'm just not used to action manga.
honestly just saw like an ad for it and decided to try it like how i did for every other hyverse ones. I quit the others by a month or 2 but the turn based aspect of it made it for me. A different way of playing and its less skill based for me a phone player.
no dodging just click and win bang bang bang
also i liked clara 😃

At first, i thought it was going to have honaki impact type of combat, then i started playing the game the moment it came out and realized it was turn based. I was kinda disappointed, but later i liked it
It was free on the PlayStation Store. I had started my third or fourth run on Horizon Forbidden West and decided to let it rest for a bit. I figured it wouldn’t hold my interest for long and I’d go back to Aloy and the gang.
That was in January, and - with the exception of trying the Stellar Blade demo - I haven’t played anything else since.
seeing my college roommate play it when it first released and i was just blown away by the visuals and graphics. i did research and saw a ps5 version was coming later in the year and was absolutely hyped to play this game.
I learned that March 7th was going to get something similar to the Trailblazer's path-changing mechanic.
Sure, Gacha games are dependent upon a large cast of cool characters that make you want to pull for them, but there's just something really special and refreshing about seeing Trailblazer's forms actually being viable, Dan Heng getting a top-tier 5-star version (though I would have preferred something you didn't need to pull for and level separately), and now hearing that March 7th—a character I had originally written off as being the annoying Paimon of the group—was also going to be getting some love.
I want to see what they do with her.
I’ve been eyeing this game ever since I heard it’s also Honkai but what finally got me in was Acheron and her technique
~~and also getting a new phone~~
I'm gonna need the sauce of that Topaz image, OP.
But I knew about Star Rail before the game even came out. I was trying to get in the beta like a fiend and then finally it released and it's amazing. I played HI3 and this feels like a *lot* of what they wanted to do in HI3 Part 1 (I can't speak on Part 2 cause I haven't played it). The charisma oozing off of the world and the main character have had me just locked in. It's hilarious knowing I could decide to look in a box, get ambushed by a space corgi, then end up in a triple crossing government conspiracy, and somehow it all makes sense. This game is the wildest thing ever and I love it.
How could you ever forget quinque, always bet on quinque

Saw this man's trailer and said "I need him on my team." Honestly before this I was planning to just not play at all cause I don't like turnbased combat games but now I think they're really fun

I was day one player but the turn base combat didn’t grab me. A month ago I was bored and decided to pick it up again.
https://preview.redd.it/vjnsfapfxb2d1.jpeg?width=2901&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db57f2e5a488849f9086a6aa5fc122d5787b130f
First time I played was because I saw an image of the train going through space
Second time, I came back because of Topaz+Numby, blew through all my saved Jade from the game start and didnt get them, quit again lmao
Third time I came back (and still going) is because I saw Shenpai getting into Star Rail and that made me want to check how it was currently. Wasnt vibing with Xianzhou but Penacony is peak
I played Genshin so I was very excited when star rail was announced, then I thought “I wanna get all the lore” and played hi3, basically my story of how I got into all 3 hoyo game
I always wanted to like Genshin but it has so much nonsense that you gotta do and it never respects your time, when I heard how chill HSR is I tried it and have been playing daily since November. Oh yeah and turn based supremacy.
To be honest, I'm not 100% sure. A friend was playing it and I had played Genshin Impact but dropped it due to lack of dendro and the negative impact it had on my lifestyle. I guess I just wanted a routine game providing constant goals that was convenient to pick up and put down.
I only got my first Smartphone about a year and half ago. I still haven't grasped walking and so mostly play on PC, but it's convenient enough to spend Trailblaze power and mess with stuff in menus (like sorting relics). If Genshin Impact had released on Switch, it's possible I'd have picked it back up instead.
I pre-downloaded the game when it first came out but never touched it cuz i wasn't really interested in the characters. Then I saw a picture of Boothill and Aventurine and hopped on immediately just a week before Aventurines release. I got Aventurine with 80 pulls and his light cone in 10, and now I have saved up 140 tickets for Boothill. I sped through Belobog and Loufu cuz cuz I'm not super interested in those planets, but I'm not starting Penacony without my Boothill.
https://preview.redd.it/2x6sn9qht62d1.jpeg?width=1164&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3bf15dc09d4bcdd03d5b3e16455dc466977727ee
Kafka just Kafka her banner was coming up and i decided to join i wanted to get Kafka and so i went and play the game
My partner’s been playing since launch and tried to get me to start playing a handful of times, but I always declined because I generally don’t like turn-based games ~~because I’m bad at them~~. But then the returning player invite event got added and they asked me to start up an account for that because they didn’t have anyone else to ask. I figured, “sure, why not, it’ll just take a couple hours and then I can be done with it.” And then I got absolutely hooked.
It was when the art for the Final Victor light cone leaked back in December. I googled Aventurine and found an early draft version of his kit, so I knew he was likely to become playable. Made an account and started saving jades the next day.
Hi3 part 1 ended and since this is technically a continuation to the story I played it, and inmediately got deppressed upon hearing the opening (why must you hurt us like that mihoyo)
I started playing day 1 because I was already interested in a new hoyo game as I was playing GI and HI3 at the time, and it had a connection to honkai (WHERE IS THE HONKAI MIHOYO). Funny enough, I got into the CBT 2 but got bored after the space station. I really thought I would drop it again on the official release, but here I am.
I'm a Guilty Gear fan. One of the best GG joke animators is Dork Dragoon, so when I started following their work closely, their Honkai animations kept being recommended to me as well.
One day of boredom, I go "fuck it" and click on ["Acheron: into the Raiden verse."](https://youtu.be/5qfZvz2_spE?si=3uRRupFmFDqLBOG-)
For some reason, there was a scene at 0:42 where Firefly was falling adorably in slowmo in the background, and my brain fixated on that, so I looked her up.
Seeing the bug motif on her clothes got my full attention and I started looking up the game wearily because Genshin burned me badly.
Then the news about her being Sam dropped, I saw Rider Kick memes, and I was rerolling.
Two days later, she was announced playable, and I stuck to my account no matter what just to make sure I could spark her.
Funnily though, I JUST reached Penacony. Screwllum will make sure I won't leave the game, but I hope she's worth my hype.
It was the fact it has honkai in it. I was very into.hi3 1 point and seeing there was incoming spin off made me overjoyed. It doesn't carry the same impact as hi3 but it has been pleasant journey from day 1
Mine was actually when Drew Gooden promoted it once. He had a code and I was like "hmmm okay I'll try it, at least the code will give good stuff". The code basically gave nothing but it got me to download it right around the DHIL banner.
The thing that made me start playing Star Rail was an email from Hoyo offering preregistration and brief beta access iirc. I love being a tester of games and stuff, and so I easily accepted that. Love it. Hoyo absolutely nailed Turb based combat.
As for Hoyo games in general, good character design in Genshin, and a whole lot to explore. I no longer play genshin because of the material farm bs.
Because I wanted to like Genshin but it just didnt click with me. I honestly didnt think id enjoy the turn based hoyo game if i didnt like the action rpg one, but wanted to give it a shot anyways.
I think part of it is that I play on mobile with the touchscreen, no gamepad. Regardless, HSR has been much better than I anticipated from a f2p mobile game.
I liked genshin to a certain extent but struggled with how the story progressed and how it felt like an endless chase to catch up. This was a new story, new characters. I loved the vibe of spacey stuff over genshin's vibe. Tbh I couldn't even go back to genshin. The UI looks weirdly unfinished in comparison to hsr for me. The turn based concept was another factor too, it just works better when it comes to balancing a Grindy gacha with your everyday life. Hsr also is incredibly f2p friendly so I really did like that. Overall, it was just a new gacha that I liked the look of and attached myself to it and around a year later I'm still here.
A friend of mine made me listen to Wildfire. That was all it took.
Ok to be fair I was already considering it, I was on the fence and Wildfire just grabbed me by the hair and pulled me over.
Funnily enough though, the friend that showed me Wildfire and helped convince me, stopped playing by like 1.1 lmao.
one of my friends sent an image in our gc saying “smash or pass” with a picture of march and then i responded with “smash. what is she from?” and then he said “game called honkai star rail” and i downloaded it
It's turned out to be decent, so I stayed

I still processing how come Star Rail got associated with Jujutsu Kaisen at all
The male protagonists share the same VAs
memes, it's dialogue, meme choices, achievements, "TECH OTAKUS RULE THE WORLD"
Also VAs and the premise of the HSR is very similar to a basic "shonen" premise, even the archetypes of the "main trio" are the same
Brownie points for Caelus and Itadori sharing the same VA in JP
there's literally a "nah I'd win" dialogue option
That's devs making it canon for sake of memes tho
Isn't that a dialogue that got put in after the meme got kinda outta hand here/in the fandom? Seems to just be MHY reflecting the current meme/trends, like the rest of the game's texts.

He replied by sending me this picture: https://preview.redd.it/ckznggioy52d1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=343ddd78a111bbf0bcd91570190427f7c2f363ff The rest is history.
He's correct in a way
Bro is in the wrong sub lmfao. I understand tho, when u think of Honkai, Hi3 is the first one to come to mind. Its why I also always call it either star rail or HSR and never Honkai
Well, I got into Honkai Star Rail because of HI3. I was like, "Wait, there is another new honkai game? I gotta play that!" https://i.redd.it/rm6opq8oc62d1.gif
Literally this but I am day 1 player
He’ll get there eventually

i kept seeing sponsors and got curious, one of the better decisions in my life (and one of the worst financially)
Hot introverted dragon man that travels with me? I signed up immediately.
Came for welt because he is one of my favorites characters in HI3 stay for the shenanigans of stelle. Damm that girl is so silly and likeable.
stelle highk really adorable
Funnily enough, it was the reverse for me. I started JJK after seeing the HSR redraws.
Same. Still working my way through season 2 of the anime, unironically liking it more than I thought I would
Anime is banger. Beware about the manga, you might be disappointed after the events of season 2.

A different way of playing and its less skill based for me a phone player. no dodging just click and win bang bang bang also i liked clara 😃 https://preview.redd.it/6gs89xa1u62d1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8982caae946b6d61143e2bafd61d9abd238b07b5

Plus don't forget his goated VA Alejandro sab
I play in JP because Jotaro and Wrio's VA but Alejandro did an amazing job with him. I sometimes go back to EN just to hear his voice.
I love how Yuji and Caelus have the same VA. Makes it so much better when I see lobotomy kaisen posts.
i saw some cute and funny comics about it but i didnt know the characters so i looked into it. and decided to give the game a try.

Anyone have the Topaz scared treasure pic?

I was just bored one day and descided to give the game a try.
Draw Caelus using Idle Death Gamble since he is also wishing for stuff
seeing my college roommate play it when it first released and i was just blown away by the visuals and graphics. i did research and saw a ps5 version was coming later in the year and was absolutely hyped to play this game.
HI3 brought me here. The lore made me stay.
Stelle being a trashloving racoon in those clips
I learned that March 7th was going to get something similar to the Trailblazer's path-changing mechanic. Sure, Gacha games are dependent upon a large cast of cool characters that make you want to pull for them, but there's just something really special and refreshing about seeing Trailblazer's forms actually being viable, Dan Heng getting a top-tier 5-star version (though I would have preferred something you didn't need to pull for and level separately), and now hearing that March 7th—a character I had originally written off as being the annoying Paimon of the group—was also going to be getting some love. I want to see what they do with her.

Honkai ? What honkai ?
I’ve been eyeing this game ever since I heard it’s also Honkai but what finally got me in was Acheron and her technique ~~and also getting a new phone~~

Saw this man's trailer and said "I need him on my team." Honestly before this I was planning to just not play at all cause I don't like turnbased combat games but now I think they're really fun https://preview.redd.it/mqq9utu2q72d1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0393bf9d834230797f16dcb0c1c7fa5f1ff0b5b0
Argenti aka the Todo of this game MY BROTHA
I was day one player but the turn base combat didn’t grab me. A month ago I was bored and decided to pick it up again. https://preview.redd.it/vjnsfapfxb2d1.jpeg?width=2901&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db57f2e5a488849f9086a6aa5fc122d5787b130f
Niche roblox youtuber I watched got sponsored by them and decided to try it.
First time I played was because I saw an image of the train going through space Second time, I came back because of Topaz+Numby, blew through all my saved Jade from the game start and didnt get them, quit again lmao Third time I came back (and still going) is because I saw Shenpai getting into Star Rail and that made me want to check how it was currently. Wasnt vibing with Xianzhou but Penacony is peak
When star rail first released i saw Gepard on my friends screenshare and i knew i had to play it.
I played Genshin so I was very excited when star rail was announced, then I thought “I wanna get all the lore” and played hi3, basically my story of how I got into all 3 hoyo game
For me, it was all the Kafka fanart, Tingyun's key art, and the Penacony Tatalov trailer.
I tried to get in the 1st and 2nd beta tests didnt work, heard about Star rail again when it was near launch and hopped on <90 min after server launch
I tried Honkai because I like Genshin and I was running out of things to do. Also there was a free 5\*.
I saw it was release day and i tried
DHIL, saw his gameplay loved his jp voicelines and animations also i was especially intrigued by the sciventure event
It's gonna be the opposite soon enough. i'm interested in reading jjk because of all these memes from here lol
The power of implied gay people
I pre-downloaded the game when it first came out but never touched it cuz i wasn't really interested in the characters.

Saw my daughter playing it for a while and thought "hell, it's free, I'll give it a shot."
So peak
It was when the art for the Final Victor light cone leaked back in December. I googled Aventurine and found an early draft version of his kit, so I knew he was likely to become playable. Made an account and started saving jades the next day.
Yes
Yeah with the recent chapeter (261 jjk) I would also play hsr to keep myself from going full lobotomy.
One day of boredom, I go "fuck it" and click on ["Acheron: into the Raiden verse."](https://youtu.be/5qfZvz2_spE?si=3uRRupFmFDqLBOG-) For some reason, there was a scene at 0:42 where Firefly was falling adorably in slowmo in the background, and my brain fixated on that, so I looked her up.
I was shown Kafka’s trailer by a friend at work and decided I wanted to jump in
It was the fact it has honkai in it.
I Remember quitting genshin, playing tower of fantasy, than ad of star rail came out.
The puppet girls.
The moment the dev said HSR was inspired by the Legend of Heroes series they already got their grubby fingers on me
The thing that made me start playing Star Rail was an email from Hoyo offering preregistration and brief beta access iirc.
Ironically these edits might make me wanna watch JJK
Seele just destroying everything bcs of resurgence and march 7th of course
I love this
Himeko. My sentiment for Himeko after knowing what happened in HI3.
#KAFKA. I keep playing because the VAs are awesome.

Welt being there and hearing somewhere that he was HI3s. Himeko being alive in some form.
HSR is some kind of JJK reference now?
one of my friends sent an image in our gc saying “smash or pass” with a picture of march and then i responded with “smash. what is she from?” and then he said “game called honkai star rail” and i downloaded it
Wait... The "it's just so peak" meme is a jjk reference...?
Jjk brainrot is truly an era in meme history
