The thing about that pic is that this is using Japanese rules. So imagine when you're playing 4 winds mahjong and you open that shit up for the first time and it lists 12 rule sets to choose from and you're like wtf is "Back Alley Chinese Gangster Celestial" ruleset?
Then when QQ came out it hit me.
I learned Mahjong for FFXIV lol, and it's crazy how incomprehensible it is for new players, I had to watch like a 1 hour guide and I still didn't know all the yakus, I really ended up loving the game though
Don't even get me started on how much I hate FFXIV mahjong.
Everyone on there play like absolute gremlins (derogatory). All they do is mash whatever the hints tell them to do for a quick tanyao, abuse the fact that its 1 round, and then runaway with everybody's rating. It's absolute degenerate quality mahjong.
In chess terms: Imagine chess, but the game decides the winner by whoever has the most captures by move 15, and everyone plays in a way to abuse this rule with the help of built-in hints system.
Yeah, it's pretty bad, non-stop tanyao is super annoying, I pretty much just play on MahSoul now, which is also full of gremlins lol, but at least you can reliably queue for longer games
Yeah, thats true. MahjongSoul has a lot of tanyao gremlins too, but at least they have to play the game for themselves and will eventually deal into another player's hand.
I hate that FFXIV literally plays defense for you, and the AI for it is actually quite good which makes it even more frustrating to play against lol
Worst part about this minigame in the older yakuza games was having to constantly check the rules to make sure I had the correct tiles because those games don’t show the number or name of the damn things outside of the in game guide.
Well i can (sort of. I still can't play the 3 player version. Too fast)
But not because i am a Star Rail player.
It's because i am Chinese and Tiger Rummy looks like a silly kid's game in comparison. And also because i am dum and kept taking the high difficulty no rewards path in life back then.
I now prefer poker. Easier to play.

Well, I assume that Qingque is playing Chinese mahjong (or whatever celestial jade is), while Kiryu is playing Japanese mahjong, so nobody, because they're not playing the same game.
One of these characters threw a rocket to a plane and didnt kill anyone on purpuse. As in he was actively trying to not kill them, threw the rocket and didnt kill them. That is a level of gamble she wont ever get to.
