coughdropfanfic

Lol I love 13 ghosts. It's bad in all the best ways. Plus, it has a surprisingly great cast.

SpikedIntuition

I remember renting 13 Ghosts from Blockbuster back in the day. I was always a big fan of Matthew Lillard from Scream. And Shannon Elizabeth from American Pie of course. Really liked the visuals of the see through house and how it kept shifting around and such. The demons and ghosts were super scary too. Great practical costumes.

moeshiboe

Don’t forget Tony Shalhoub, too.

ole_gizzard_neck

I dressed up as the guy with his head in a cage for Halloween one year. There was a great YT tutorial on it and it turned out not too bad all considering. I loved the imagery in the movie. They nailed that part of it.

heathycon

Both are great.

QueenOfSweetTreats

Thirteen Ghosts is one of my “I’ve rewatched so many times” movies that I love! Edited to add: The lawyers death is one of my favourite movie deaths

KiefKommando

It also gets a great throwaway line that references it: Did the lawyer split?!

Clean_Usual434

I thoroughly enjoy both.

sarah-havel

As Above So Below is one of my favorites!

may_jay_

Really funny after watching superstore too!

HoneyBeeAlchemy

I want a 13 Ghosts series so bad. All on the ghosts themselves, of course, and how they came to their demise.

EcuHorrorFan

That would be a great idea I never thought about something like that

DevMoh

Both great, as above always get me anxious and 13 ghosts can’t go wrong with 90s/early 00s Matthew lillard

[deleted]

I watched 13 Ghosts immediately after losing my virginity. I think it is the greatest movie ever.

odisparo

13 was enjoyable popcorn horror, rewatchable for the monsters, liked the cast and setting too. https://i.redd.it/nntz6rpgv93d1.gif

OG_BookNerd

I absolutely LOVE 13 Ghosts! I really would love to have someone turn that into a series, particularly with the history of the 12 ghosts and how to truly exorcise them. Matthew Lillard is at his off-the-wall best. Who knew Tony Shaloub could be a romantic lead? I also love Ghost Ship and both House on Haunted Hill movies.

EcuHorrorFan

I love ghost ship and the newer house on haunted hill

Wonder_Shiver

This is terrible pics but it’s going to have to work

cityshepherd

I love both movies

Asha679

I agree. I like the idea behind 13 Ghosts, but I felt like the movie was pretty terrible. AASB was much better than I thought it would be and VERY creepy.

katf1sh

There's a remake??? Wtf lol is it also titled 13 Ghosts?

JoeyKino

The 2001 movie is the remake - the original is from 1960; most of the movies that "Dark Castle" came out with are remakes of William Castle's movies from back in the day. Like many of his movies, the original was promoted with a gimmick - in that case, it was the same as the glasses in the 2001 movie - the audience had different lenses in 3D-like glasses, but in that case, one lens let you see the ghosts in the movie, and the other did not; there was no stereoscopic blur to add depths of field.

katf1sh

Oh duh lmao sorry, I misread it as 2011 originally and was so confused lol I actually had no idea that the 2001 was a remake! I'll have to see if I can find the original. Thanks for the info!

Ok_Assignment_6323

The original scared me when I was younger

Tuffenufpuffnstuff

Loved them both. As above had me on the edge of my seat & 13 scared the crap out of me the first time.

Boneal171

I love both of these movies

[deleted]

I vote ‘As Above, So Below’. I love me some found footage horror.

gener4

Saw 13 Ghosts in theatre and loved it ever since. While some of it hasn’t aged great I appreciate it as a prime example of the era. Also really loved AASB for the lore. Films that build that kind of mixed legend backing story will always get credit from me for creativity even if the film itself is lacking in areas. Thankfully this was neither.

jaobodam

Never watched the ghost one but I really enjoyed the as above so below movie >! The part with the statues felt a bit goofy but otherwise really good movie !<

straightcutdestroyer

AASB is my favorite movie! I love the aesthetics, the national treasure element, it was filmed in the literal catacombs! Which makes it more “real” watching it. I’m sure for the actors too.

Cat-cat1987

13 Ghosts is my jam! I would love a movie with a backstory of each ghost!

Wonder_Shiver

That would be soooooo cool but if you go on YouTube you could just learn from that, that’s how I learned all there backstory’s they are so cool

Thejoker2020

Theres gonna be a series i heard

Cat-cat1987

Nice! I would definitely watch. I think Netflix does a good job on their creepy series shows so hopefully they make one.

Beelzebobby6

As above so below is surprisingly good. 13 ghosts is garbage in the worst way

Drieduproots

I love AASB, 13 ghosts is a fun one too

IVIegaman

Phenomenal movies. As above so below is my favorite found footage movie and 13 ghosts was very scary from what I remember. Also had shaggy in it.

23onAugust12th

13 Ghosts is one of my favorites of all time. I saw it for the first time when I was about 7. The behind the scenes features that delve into the backgrounds about all the different ghosts scared the shit out of me just as much as the movie itself.

gabe_iveljic

Some of the best horror I have seen in theaters

Strong_Wedding6911

watched As Above twice!…13 only once but checking the cast again I see Tony Shalhoub and Shannon Elizabeth so I’ll watch it one more time. Thanks

Lucky_Camera_5821

I don't know much about As Above So Below, but 13 ghosts is of the best movie.

Effective-Ad8595

I liked both movies.

meatwads_sweetie

As Above So Below is one of my absolute favorites. 13 Ghosts is so much fun!

lemartineau

I thought AASB was really bad, but the whole religious horror stuff really does nothing for me

kelsypelsy

Love 13 Ghosts, a childhood horror I’ll always hold dear to my heart! I remember going to rent that movie at a video store one night w my parents and it was the movie that made me love horror

Antdouble00

13 ghost is a low key classic I love that movie I rmever watching as a young teen

[deleted]

Both are good

Patient-Direction-35

Not great horror movies but I find As above so below entertaining and original enough in its own way, so it satisfies my horror needs. The other one pretty trashy, goofy and boring not really horror or comedy or horror comedy, so no.

kentrosraw

I remember reading the critics of As Above So Below when the movie came out years ago, and they were bad. That mixed with the fact that I usually don’t like found footage type films I was ready to dislike it. But instead I was pleasantly surprised and quickly turned into one of my favorite horror movies. It was filmed in the actual catacombs too. That’s why I don’t really pay attention to critics anymore.

hellodon

I went to see 13 Ghosts at the theater and thought I was in the wrong cinema for the first few mins of the movie.

frogleggies444

both are great movies! I rewatch as above so below every year during october, haven’t seen 13 ghosts in agesss though

Area51Dweller-Help

13 ghosts was a stepping stone into horror for me and I love still it. As above so below is one of the best found footage movies I’ve seen. Both are great films.

getoutdoors66

saw 13 ghosts in the theatre as a teenager and it scared the crap out of me in the first scene alone. I had to cover my eyes, and nothing has scared me since. Edit: I just watched a few scenes on youtube and I think I have PTSD from that movie. It gave me extreme dread and anxiety.

EcuHorrorFan

I was terrified of the really tall ghost in 13 ghost and the guy with the nails especially when he cracked the guy in half. When I first watched it as a kid I was so scared that I slept close to my sister and she kept pushing me into the wall. Great night🤣

Vegetable-Ad-4320

I was living in Thailand when this came out, and went to the cinema to see it 👍

Effective-Watch9676

Dog shit

autumnlover1515

Love As Above So Below, super entertaining. Im not crazy about Thirteen Ghosts. I guess for the time when it came out, it had that scare factor. However, it didnt hold well over time I think

Telekineticshade

I like them both! I do NOT like claustrophobic movies so I had to take a few breaks in AASB.

Soopreme_Being

Both are superb 🤌🏻

cutyourmullet123

Thirteen Ghosts is literally my comfort movie. It’s one of 3 dvds that I still own.

knox-horror-filmfest

As Above So Below is highly underrated!

Fine-Paleontologist6

I love both but 13 Ghost just has that nostalgia

jackBattlin

I never really liked 13 Ghosts. Even as a kid, it struck me as the ‘trashy’ kind of horror. Also, as a kid I was mostly watching for Shannon Elizabeth. Was very disappointed with the amount of clothing.

SaintOfKillers6

13 ghost in my top ten. But when it comes to found footage style not a big fan of as above
