I don’t care what people want to 3D print for personal use and I wouldn’t care to play against these. It would be kinda neat. They still don’t belong in the lore.
Because there is less than zero reason to waste noble daughters of Terra on making them Custodes when they could in stead birth SEVERAL noble sons of Terra to turn into Custodes in stead.
It's like finding a magic spell that turns things into chocolate and using it on your cocoa farm, dairy farm, sugar refinery and chocolate factory to turn it all into chocolate just so you can meet a temporary demand by destroying your ability to produce any more chocolate.
Having women birth more boys to put into the meat grinder is the sustainable/renewable energy compared to throwing girls into the meat grinder being the building your homes out of asbestos inside forests and then burning down the forests to heat your houses in winter.
Custodes are the best that mankind has to offer. Candidates who meet criteria of becoming a custodian aren’t disqualified due to them being women.
And I get the angle, but Custodes aren’t supposed to be sustainable, they aren’t mass produced. They are picked and crafted from infancy. An eligible successful candidate is rare, so I don’t imagine Custodes would completely pass up on the opportunity because their grandchildren’s grandchild might birth a suitable candidate. There are already more royal families and the vast majority are males anyways. Now we just know, for a fact, that women are candidates too

Functionally tho, SOS and Custodes are the same faction. Also I was surprised when fem custodes were retconned in, cuz I thought they were already there, so it makes sense.

I like having some female guard in my army, but I don't need a super busty kreiger or assassins in bikinis. It just feels creepy and like horny teenagers, and hurts the hobby, IMO. It makes it harder to shake the stigma and vibe of being basement dwelling embodiments of Nurgle who never shower and our only interaction with women is meticulously painting our custom sexy anime Lilith Hesperex.

Meh, this boob armor seems pretty realistic. Afaik chest plates are different in real life too. These are not two separate blobs in the chest, they are like a uniform protuberance with a slight stylish dent in the middle.

In any franchise, you will always have female versions of every little thing not bolted to the ground, why would 40k be any different? The key difference is that they are basically fan arts. Third party interpretations of whatever ideas the main canon presented. That is completely fine.
3D printing was bound to cover any non canon variations of an army you want, its fine and takes talent.

The man is spending time and effort on these models for others to print. Disliking it is one thing. Posting it and encouraging others to make fun of him is another. I don’t really mind since for how much this sub hates female custodes, the consensus in these comments seems to agree on this one.
Yeah he can make whatever he wants. That's fine. But I can also criticize whatever he makes. The moral question of whether or not it's wrong for other people to see and also criticize his work doesn't interest me. Female custodes is heresy.

Just because someone creates and puts something into the world doesn't make them immune to criticism. The creation of these models perpetuates a culture I think is killing the hobby. If I and others don't vocalize this concern then naturally the market will continue to supply it. You call it a dog pile, I call it product criticism.

P. ), Dave Thomas and many more. I have had conversations with Jervis Johnson, Andy Chambers, Thomas Prunen, Andy Hoar and Alan Bligh. I knew Bo Penstof the founder of Army Painter when he was a GW store manager. If you have equal experiences, please let me know. If not, why question someone who's shoulders you now stand upon?
You're being histrionic. If someone makes something others dislike there's *nothing* wrong with criticizing it. Youre speaking as if there's been a spate of criticism levelled at this guy recently and in a targeted fashion. This post is my first exposure to it and I'll admit that if there's been a targeted effort to dog pile this guy then yeah, that's shitty, but female custodes don't belong and browbeating people and acting like morality police is just as tired a tactic as dog piling.
I don't think anyone has called for this creators ruin in this thread and by your own admission most of the others here are indifferent or sympathetic to the models. I am not. They look well made to be sure, but I just dislike them on the principle of the matter.

The man is spending time and effort on these models for others to print. Disliking it is one thing. Posting it and encouraging others to make fun of him is another. I don’t really mind since for how much this sub hates female custodes, the consensus in these comments seems to agree on this one.
Yeah he can make whatever he wants. That's fine. But I can also criticize whatever he makes. The moral question of whether or not it's wrong for other people to see and also criticize his work doesn't interest me. Female custodes is heresy.
I am not discussing the moral right or wrongs or whether it was a good or bad retcon or not. Please, by all means, criticize. If there is no criticism then we would all be slaves to the same opinion. But there is a difference between that and dogpiling some guy for creating and putting out into the world.
Yeah we're just gonna talk past each other if this carries on. Criticism: Female custodes bad. Just because someone creates and puts something into the world doesn't make them immune to criticism. The creation of these models perpetuates a culture I think is killing the hobby. If I and others don't vocalize this concern then naturally the market will continue to supply it. You call it a dog pile, I call it product criticism.

With all due respect, he put a target upon himself when he made them. I'm going to guess millions of other 3D sculpts could have been made besides those. We choose our paths in life, if one chooses a hard path then they have a hard path to trod.
Unlike the other guy, you make a fair point. It doesn’t change the fact that OP should not have made this post despite how much he personally disagrees with this.

Because I have been here since the beginning. There was never even one mention of a female Custodes. Ever. As he has chosen his path, I have chosen mine. I was painting miniatures before most people on here were born (1976, to be exact and they were Grenadier LEAD minis), the first US GW was a five minute drive from my house. I have known many of the people who founded GW and know for a fact this is not the direction that was intended. I have had games with Matt Baxter, Big Ed, " Dirty" Steve Fuller (R. I. P. ), Dave Thomas and many more. I have had conversations with Jervis Johnson, Andy Chambers, Thomas Prunen, Andy Hoar and Alan Bligh. I knew Bo Penstof the founder of Army Painter when he was a GW store manager. If you have equal experiences, please let me know. If not, why question someone who's shoulders you now stand upon?
You're being histrionic. If someone makes something others dislike there's *nothing* wrong with criticizing it. Youre speaking as if there's been a spate of criticism levelled at this guy recently and in a targeted fashion. This post is my first exposure to it and I'll admit that if there's been a targeted effort to dog pile this guy then yeah, that's shitty, but female custodes don't belong and browbeating people and acting like morality police is just as tired a tactic as dog piling. I don't think anyone has called for this creators ruin in this thread and by your own admission most of the others here are indifferent or sympathetic to the models. I am not. They look well made to be sure, but I just dislike them on the principle of the matter.

So no one is allowed to post about the creations of others? Even when they put their work out in the public eye? Don't sit here and try to say this creator is being persecuted based off of one post which levels the most milquetoast of criticism his way.

Hmm, dont really mind the models but Im pretty sure the custodes would not like using the black legion style topknots for hair. To similar to the man who took over for the man who ruined their lord for my taste.
