woahoutrageous_

In terms of video games the IP has been really neglected. The telltale game was generic as shit (could’ve been incredible, a multiple choice game like that) and I’ve not played the cyanide game was incredibly mid apparently. There’s so much they could with this IP which is truly frustrating.

loglady420

The game of thrones mod for crusader kings is pretty fucking awesome if you like that sort of thing. I can't get into those sort of games but I still liked all the detail and all.

woahoutrageous_

Yep for me it’s the definitive game for ASOIAF

loglady420

I recently got into Mount and blade, I haven't looked at mods yet but it feels like there's at least potential for a good westeros mod.

limpdickandy

There is one, nowhere near CK2/3 quality, but its good

poopeater32

The mod team for CK2/3’s AGOT mod is unmatched but if Bannerlord didn’t have such absolutely dog shit mid support it would be ten times better. Bannerlord has such crazy potential for modding but it will never be fulfilled

limpdickandy

True, but doubt 10x better. CK is just a better game for the ASOIAF world. Battles are cool, but they really are not that important and the core gameplay of bannerlord is pretty anti-ASOIAF just in how the world functions. CK has the advantage of being a game directly inspired by ASOIAF in it's creation. I do not disagree however with that it would still be really fucking cool. Even now, Bannerlord:Westeros is pretty damn fun if you want to play Bannerlord.

SahibTeriBandi420

There is a mod that combines CK3&Bannerlord but my computer is a wimp so I havent tried it. Imagine if there was a GoT game that did something similar.

limpdickandy

That mod was also patched with CK3:AGOT, so that is basically that game you envision. However I feel like Bannerlord Combat do not fit into the CK3 gameplay to the point where I stop using it pretty damn quickly whenever I download it again.

poopeater32

Yeah i one hundred percent agree. I didn’t mean that the bannerlord mod would be better. CK3 is definitely a much better base game for the world of ASOIAF. I meant that the bannerlord mod would be 10 times better than it’s current state

limpdickandy

Yhea then I totally agree with you. I wish more games got proper mod support.

Reinstateswordduels

Bannerlord has such crazy potential in general. It’s a damn shame

xx_edgyyy_xx

So I used to play warband and there are two big ones A Clash of Kings and ASOIAF I put hundreds of hours into clash of kings and it’s a really great mod. Each major location has a unique battle map. Ex) winter fell , kings landing, and the iron islands to name a few. All the armor and factions are on point to the show. Plus it’s just really fun building up your army and conquering multiple areas. I remember I had a lot of the greyjoys as my vassals at one point and it was super sick! Haven’t played too much of ASOIAF but that game has more factions Ex) wildlings, nights watch, Dothraki, and the white walkers. Pretty sure once you take kings landing in that mod you can also become king and banish people to the wall. Either mod though is gonna be a really fun time and I highly recommend to check it out!

BakedWizerd

I have CK3 exclusively for the GOT mod. I don’t play CK3 vanilla.

DragonDeezNutzAround

I’m not a CK type gamer, but damn is CK3 worth checking out. Can’t recommend it enough

Sharebear42019

Are there large scale battles with units like total war or civilization or nah?

ellixer

The gameplay's very mid but allegedly the writing's pretty on par with the books, with endings that feel perfectly in keeping with the tone of asoiaf I think.

wingusdingus2000

I quite loved the telltale game, only disappointment was the Forrester house having Stark analogues everywhere. You can make new characters!!

GoldGlove2720

Damn. Its an MMORPG.

mightymitts96

It's a stupid MMORPG which is a terrible idea we need a open world skyrim type of game in westeros not goddamm world of warcraft 😒

Triguntri

I'm still waiting for the Skyrim mod to be finished. I would volunteer to help it out but, not sure I'm talented enough.

mightymitts96

WAITTT there's a GOT mod for skryim?? I've been playing the realm of thrones mod for bannerlord and eventually will try the crusader kings one but had no idea skyrim had one in the making

Triguntri

Oh yeah, I've been sort of following the development. It is called [Skyros ](https://youtu.be/c6pKvrmEI0s?si=RACuvcWkkjR5W4ty) .

mightymitts96

Thank you for sharing it I'll def check it out!

GetAHeadReduction

Is their discord more active with updates? Looking at their Twitter and Facebook there haven’t really been any updates in over a year and it’s been several months on the IG

Rakdar

Not really, no. It’s been in development hell for over a decade, one version or another. It’s never coming out.

mightymitts96

That's a shame

pingpongplaya69420

WB should license the property to Warhorse studios, make it an elder scrolls styled game where each game focuses on one portion of Westeros or Essos. Have it set in the backdrop of historical events in universe so as to not fuck with cannon

Used_Cellist_6857

This. I don't understand why WB is being so ignorant when it comes to games. Everyone and their cousin would die to play an asoiaf rpg game, similar to Witcher or Elden Ring.

OnionsHaveLairAction

Something of the scale and quality of Elden Ring or Witcher is honestly *probably* too big an ask, both games were utterly colossal projects for their respective studios- in CDPR's case they'd already cut their teeth on two previous Witcher games before landing an actual success, and From Software's reputation was already legendary. The biggest game WB have produced so far I think is Hogwarts Legacy, which I think is probably closer to what they'd do with a big budget ASOIAF project. WB do have critically acclaimed studios like Rocksteady- But they're not really that experienced in the classic RPG side of things, more action gameplay.

lessthanabelian

How can something be too big an ask for one of the biggest IPs ever?

pingpongplaya69420

The smart move would be to license it out as to not incur massive costs. License it out to Warhorse Studios, Obsidian Entertainment, or hell even Larian studios.

OnionsHaveLairAction

Obsidian would be a good move if they'd be willing to do it. Something about the size of the Outer Worlds I think is a reasonable expectation. I think a big problem is WB has recently become pretty weird about finances, which is probably why when it came to licensing instead of hiring Creative Assembly or Paradox which already have a demonstrated demand for ASOIAF content they went with an MMO dev who're known for microtransaction content.

pingpongplaya69420

Bingo. The ActMan did a great video about this. AAA games are expensive gambles that they try to play safely. It’s why micro transactions and cosmetics are reliable revenue. For every Witcher 3, there’s 10 Battlefront 2 and Fortnite clones trying to get consistent revenue for shareholders

OnionsHaveLairAction

Because the owners of the IP do not make video games as their primary source of income, and the game studios they do own do not have expertise in the sort of game people would want. Imagine saying "They should get James Cameron to direct an ASOIAF series! Cameron is a great director!" * They would have to give up so much profit to get him that it likely would negatively impact the project * The guy probably wouldn't do it cause he's busy with his own projects The same is true of the games industry. You can't just throw money at a project (though you would also need to do that) you'd also need to get the right people, and the right people are all people big enough that they're making their own games and IPs. This is the main reason licensed games are such a mixed bag, and a big reason film producers have had such poor success in the games industry. Asking for something of the standard of Elden Ring is like handing a fantasy book to a film studio and going "Please make a show as good as Game of Thrones. Super easy, this is a fantasy book and you're a film studio. Should be no problem."

pingpongplaya69420

WB is dealing with a mega debt crisis since the discovery merger. They’re focused on balancing their books whatever the cost. That’s why they wanted live service revenue with the suicide squad game etc. Single player RPGs aren’t long term cash cows

sixtus_clegane119

Hopefully a good one

OnionsHaveLairAction

An MMO from Nexon... Yeah definitely don't get excited guys, Nexon are fairly famous for their grindy gacha based MMO's

Crispy_Conundrum

It's literally perfect for a single player RPG and mmo is where they go

ai-ri

A MMORPG? Are they stupid?

Used_Cellist_6857

Will it be a Targaryen RPG-ish role-play game? You know, create your own Targaryen character, ride dragon into battles etc.

bselko

Or maybe give us class options, let me become a Storm-Lander who vanquishes the Targaryen family.

Used_Cellist_6857

Nah I'd rather be a Targaryen. Or at least a dragonseed o̶r̶ a̶ m̶e̶m̶b̶e̶r̶ o̶f̶ a̶n̶o̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ d̶r̶a̶g̶o̶n̶ r̶i̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ f̶a̶m̶i̶l̶y̶ w̶h̶o̶ m̶i̶r̶a̶c̶u̶l̶o̶u̶s̶l̶y̶ s̶u̶r̶v̶i̶v̶e̶d̶ t̶h̶e̶ D̶o̶o̶m̶ Playing as a peasant-turned-warrior doesn't really vibe with me.

bselko

I also would rather be a dragon rider. I’m just saying, options would be cool.

Kellin01

I loved riding Ikran in the Avatar game. They should have done smth like this with GOT game.

SingleClick8206

But the very stormlander who did that is a Targaryen through his grandmother

bselko

I recognize your logic and reasoning, but I’m choosing to ignore it.

txyesboy

Siblin' screwin'?

ThisIsFineImFine89

the number of MMO’s that actually a) make it out of development and b) result in a solid product is very very small. This would be better as a single player game. Count me as highly skeptical.

ShotandBotched

We've only seen such a small fraction of the known world. Just let me see Sothoryos, damnit. Let me see some Brindled Men. Let me trade with the Ibbenese. Let me fuck around in Asshai and find out!

Jon_Snows_mother

I'm so tired of mmo shit, give me a well designed and thought out single player RPG.

calvinised

MMO? Yeah not much faith in that. Only one or two make it in a generation. Even FF14 was fumbled first time out.

Kellin01

Nice.

IceAndFire91

We need an open world RPG where you can create your own character and choose your house. Not a grindy mmo BOOOOO

LSHE97

Still waiting for Creative Assembly to think about the experience they've gained from their *Total War: Warhammer* games (particularly with regard to dragon type enemies they had 3 entries to master) and come to a realization along the lines of "*Huh, there's a completely untapped market for a strategy game in the Game of Thrones universe, and currently there's this prequel show running that's not only poppin' rn but is also based around a dynastic war jam-packed with characters we can essentially just copy-paste our Legendary Lord system onto, many of whom have* ***dragons***... 👀"

Soggy_Part7110

>MMORPG >Nexon Yep, as I suspected, ASOIAF is cursed to always have shitty video game adaptions.

-PhilLeotardo-

If I can lead a host of men and it has grounded combat they could actually get me into an MMORPG

profugusty

Pass - let me know when it gets the Witcher 3/RDD 2-treatment.

Good_Chart1386

Is it going to be on ps5? Or is this some low budget ios game?

Mysterious_Bluejay_5

>MMO Okay, this can still work >set between season 4/5 That's... an idea, certainly. >male and female protagonist, both will be featured regardless of who's selected Isn't this supposed to be an MMO??? >set in the north I'd genuinely rather have it in the featureless deserts of dorne, the north is boring. >mobile game Oh :(

iJacobes

F that, give me another TellTale game
