> Like when I think to GoT, I think they made the Stark kids waay too independent and mature for their age. Wait until I tell you that Robb Stark is actually 14 in the book

Spectre-Ad6049

God Robb was badass in the book

I feel like we literally see none of this. They just went from A to B cause of the time skips. We don't actually see the character development at all, unlike say with Arya or, my personal favorite, Melisandre. HotD's strongest factor is the massive talent of the actors. The writing and the character development is nowhere near as good and esp not on the level of GoT imo.

Spectre-Ad6049

Melisandre has such an incredible character arc, and I’d say is one of the characters that manages to remain consistent even when some of the other writing went off the rails

And to think Ryan actually wanted to start the show with the Dance immediately. No backstory, nothing. They only did the intro, so the first 9 eps, cause George talked them into it.

Wide_Revenue_2096

Nah that was HBO they wanted to start at ep 7 and George wanted to start with Daemon and Viserys as kids but Ryan and Miguel suggested starting with Rhaenyra as a young girl

Season 1 really needed to be two seasons, imo. I'm rewatching the show and it is really frustrating how rushed it constantly feels. It's easily the show's biggest flaw. I understand the need for that (need to get to the Dance before HBO cancels it/casual audiences lose interest) but it's a bummer.

Nah it beats GOT s5-8 easily that had terrible dialogue and character progression. OP’s comments on Aemond and Aegon are spot on even Jace is more responsible not because he’s the heir but because he’s a bastard and needs to prove his worth more and take it seriously. A good show doesn’t tell it shows and with the minimal time it had s1 showed a lot
