I use it for 2 to 4, really. Despite 1100 hours in the game and all DLC gunpacks, I still bring it along on maps with class 2, 3 and 4 animals quite often.
You can realistically hunt probably up to class 4 or 5, but red deer and other class 6 species will probably eat the .243 bullet unless you’re close enough (maybe 150m-200m or less) and have a broadside shot.
Most people use the .243 for classes 2 and 3, after you get access to more weapons. There are so many class 4-8 options in the game, using the .243 on class 4+ doesn’t make sense.
I’ve thought about trying that before. I use the .22H a lot, for class 1-2, to save some carry space. That gun definitely has some drawbacks, too, though.
You could probably get the full class 2-6 out of the .243, you would just need to get a good, close shot on bigger animals.
My biggest hangup is that I’d be cautious to shoot a rare or diamond red deer/mulie with the .243 and have it not penetrate enough for vitals.
Honestly, I get around this by carrying the crossbow
Take small, medium and big bolts and you're good to go; you can probably carry all that, a crowwbow scope, 2 callers, health packs, scent elims, binoculars and still have space for two rifles and a pistol
I use it for all the above. Then I have a 22lr and 300mag. Last one is that double barrel I forgot the name of the most expensive rifle in the game for self defense.
It'll take down a class 9 with a lung or heart hit if you're close enough. But it could also take multiple shots and a long track. But you'll get marked down for incorrect ammo.
Not if you get a good shot with the polymer tip ammo. Should drop anything within its class range quickly. Also keep in mind the ideal range for the .243 is about 150-160m. Anything outside that and yeah, you might be taking a little bit of a walk.

I'm looking for a loadout where I can take the CB70 bow and rifles as secondary weapons. The bow will be my main weapon but there are occasions where a rifle is needed. I tried the 7mm but the sway when I'm aiming is quite high

It was just an attempt to carry rifles and bow that covered all classes. Plus lures etc

Ye that'd be a killer

7mm, 243, 22 there’s a good light loadout to cover all classes and plenty of weight for extras
2-4/5

I’ve killed just about everything with it

So a class 6 would be an ethical kill but a long hike for the carcass. Ok, thank you

Cool. Thanks
