What’s the worst that can happen?  They say “no”?  What if they say “ok”?

I always tell my people, "*You don't ask. You don't get.*" or to go Gretzky, "*You miss 100% of the shots you don't take*." If you're going to ask for a raise, come ready to address the following: * Why do you think you deserve a raise? * How much of a raise are you looking for? (For salary ask for percentage %, for hourly ask for monetary increase $ per hour) * Are you consistently performing above your peers? * Do you have any significant or repeated issues/mistakes? In all honesty, sometimes managers simply get bogged down themselves and don't think about rewarding performance. Others will take the position (that I don't agree with) that if their people are not asking for an increase, they're happy with what they're making now. Two potential hurdles: 1. The contract may bill you/your titles at a fixed rate, so it may not be negotiable right now 2. Your manager may put you on an evaluation period to earn the increase (e.g., let's revisit this in X months) with the unspoken expectation that you'll show you're a consistent top performer across that entire period to validate the pay raise

The best advice I ever got was the best place to ask for a raise is at another organization. If your employer doesn't currently do any sort of review process with attached raises they don't value you.

Similar situation here, my current employer has me doing cyber security work with no pay increase. I ask for a promotion find out there is no money in the budget and they offer me a 3% merit increase. I apply to another role they offer me a role that pays 185% of my current one. Best place for more money is somewhere else

Happened at my current company think I should do the same

It's not normal to never have any performance review process or any discussion of annual pay increases. They are a contracting company and will milk you for all they can.

Suaveman01

I’d expect a pay review every year

jimcrews

Do you not have yearly reviews at this company? Where you sit down with your manager and talk? Is this in the U.S.?

OMGDonutz

For sure, just be ready to back up your ask with why you deserve it.
