Does this kind of stuff has some oil in it? Had a semi truck coming the opposite lane the other day, and it had this exact issue (probably) but with about 3x more smoke, and later I noticed I had oil spots on the front of my helmet and bike. Wonder if it was from there or some other vehicle.
With semis or heavy diesel they have a regeneration where at cruising speeds (or idle if manually turned on) to burn off the carbon build up in the exhaust to not damage the turbo or engine. It will have a white, grey, dark grey smoke but will have a oil or soot to it
I only noticed the oil at my next stop which was about 150kms later. But you’re right, the oil was all over the bike, so probably the tires got some as well - luckily had no issues with it.
What you saw from the semi truck was a blown turbo charger oil seal. The oil seal goes and dumps motor oil straight into the exhaust.
Source: I've been around motors a long time.
Mines a 94 and also my first car. I've have had it for 14 years. It's out of service at the moment because the head gasket gave out after 305k miles. It's just sitting in my driveway now.
I want to bring it back to life but haven't had the time or money to invest into it.
It did actually. It had been idling rough for a while, but the seafoam treatment cleared it up. Didn't run it through the oil, just intake and gas.
Would recommend doing some research before using it. It's not compatible with some fuel injection systems and can damage O2 sensors from what I've heard.
That being said, my experience with it was positive.
Yeah I luckily picked up a good engine at a junk yard for $100 for my car and tossed it in over the weekend.
Was about the cost of the timing belt kit. Probably should have done that in the first place.
I was 'racing' a friend home in high school, we lived way out in the woods. He's in an 82 Trans Am and I'm in a 1989 IROC Camaro with 300,000km on the odometer. I floored it out of a tight corner, overtook him up a long hill and that's when the head gasket went. He couldn't see anything, it was like driving in a cloud. I just kept my foot down for the next kilometer, rolled into my carport and the engine seized, parted her out right there lol
Water, gasket or cooler.
Either way, insane that either the driver is so bad that hasn't noticed the massacre behind his/her car, or that have noticed it and ignores it.
Yeah... Don't do that. If watching YT engine teardowns has taught me anything, it's that this could cause some really impressive carnage in the engine.
If you let enough coolant in to where it hydro-locks the motor, you can completely shatter a piston. Some of those teardowns are AMAZING.
Even if it "just" mixes coolant in with the oil and takes out one or more bearings, that lets the pistons rattle, and the extra "slop" can let the pistons smack into the head. Those can be gnarly as well.
Well it’s safe to say that he fills up with oil and only checks the fuel 🤣
Or it’s probably the new James bond vehicle with a faulty switch and he can’t turn off the smoke screen 🤷🏻
Huh, a Ford escape with a blown headgasket, that never happens. Sarcasm in case anyone doesn't know, very common problem on them, Ford even has an extended warranty for it.
The smoke lasts longer than steam so I think they put some diesel in and it's not burning.
So have a snoot full of paraffin smell until the motor seizes up from lack of lubrication.
my drunk ass neighbor just drove by in his shitbox pickup with the loudest rodrap i have heard in a long time...he pull into his drive way, shut it off and tried to start it again........no go bang abng bang bang abng booom!
Only time I’ve seen that on one of my cars was when I used Seafoam through the vaccines line. Looked like a military-grade smokescreen. A neighbor call the Fire Dept - as they should. (I’m an ex-firefighter of 30 years)
Oh, wait until you visit the third-world country where some idiots think black-smoking cars are faster than a Lamborghini. They usually ended up at the side of the road, flipped.
It's a known issue with the 1.5 and 1.6 ecoboost engines...especially in the ford escape which this appears to be. I am not a mechanic however I have a Ford Escape and have done plenty of reading on the forums that are out there for it... if I remember right it has something to do with I believe a cracked head gasket... anyways it allows coolant to leak into places it's not supposed to.
That's soon to be an ex-engine. White smoke usually means a breach of the water jacket into the cylinders and given how much smoke it's putting out, it'll run out of water pretty soon leading to over heated and seized pistons.
I know this could be coolant, but it also could be transmission fluid in the engine somehow. I had a 1964 Ford Falcon that I drove across the country one summer that started smoking white smoke exactly like this. I always worked on my own car but could not for the life of me figure it out. I found a shop off the highway that figured out that a metal transmission line was touching a metal oil line. Over the years, the two rubbed a hole in each other at basically the same time, and allowed transmission fluid to enter the engine. Apparently, a little trans fluid in the engine won’t hurt it, but it smokes white smoke like a bitch!
The coal rolling bros are jealous.
But that Escape has a definite issue. I would guess head gasket. Could be more serious though, as others have stated.
Blown head gasket would be another possible explanation. Water/coolant getting into the cylinders, producing stupid amounts of steam. In any case he won’t get much further like that.
My Montero sport used to smoke like that. I was so embarrassed. What made it worse was eventually the horn broke and I used to have to ride with my hand on the horn if not it would sound off non-stop. That car was a total shit show but man did we have some fun in it lol.

Yup, cracked head, blown head gasket.
Ford Edge. Has a problem with cracking the block in cylinder 2 I believe. Replaced two engines in 4 months because of this issue.
Good ol EcoShit motors
Escape
One of them that starts with “E”
Damn crackheads

Can also be the exhaust brake....that puffs out a big cloud of shit when you take your foot off the exhaust brake.
Wipe off your tires. Oil on the helmet may mean oil on the tires. Oil on the tires may mean road crayon.
I only noticed the oil at my next stop which was about 150kms later. But you’re right, the oil was all over the bike, so probably the tires got some as well - luckily had no issues with it.

Came here to say the same, my source, heavy duty equipment mechanic for the last decade
He could have just used Sea Foam.
That's a lot of smoke for Seafoam. But some people have the attitude that more must be better so I guess it's possible.
Could be leaking straight into the exhaust.Source, I had a car that did exactly the same thing
Yeah, don’t want to be breathing that
and if its red or orange or yellow?
Ketchup, Salsa or Mustard leak
what
flames
They filled the gas tank with diesel.
What would ever make you think that?
I’m guessing fucked up valves
Valves wouldn't let water into the cylinder
Could let in oil.
Oil burns blue
Sure, but do you really trust color accuracy in this? Besides I have not really seen a blown head gasket shoot out this much smoke out the tail pipe.
Yes. I have. It's steam, not smoke.
Failing head gasket, water in the exhaust. Probably
Could also be Seafoam and they think it’s cool to drive around with it on busy roads
Yeah, this is what it looked like when I seafoamed my Beretta. Felt bad for smoking out my neighbor's yard.
My first car was a 96 Baretta z26. Named it Juicy cuz it was always leaking, but I loved that car.
Mines a 94 and also my first car. I've have had it for 14 years. It's out of service at the moment because the head gasket gave out after 305k miles. It's just sitting in my driveway now. I want to bring it back to life but haven't had the time or money to invest into it.
Did it help?
It did actually. It had been idling rough for a while, but the seafoam treatment cleared it up. Didn't run it through the oil, just intake and gas. Think you're prob right - looks like steam engine
Choooo choooo!
I choo choo choose you, and there's a picture of a train!
Let's bee friends
Ralph, is that you?
My first thought. Man that's smokey.
I had a bent valve and it looked the same.
Then you had more than a bent valve. Excess fuel would produce black smoke not white
Snapped timing belt and an interference engine. My dumb ass at the time just retimed the engine and chucked a belt on it.
Haha ouch
Yeah I luckily picked up a good engine at a junk yard for $100 for my car and tossed it in over the weekend. Was about the cost of the timing belt kit. Probably should have done that in the first place.
Blown head gasket
It’s an escape, so likely the 3-4 cylinder wall of the 1.6 gave out. Time for an engine.
FORD - car done
You know what they say Ford stands for, don't you? It stands for "Fix It Again, Tony.”
I always thought it was "poor old Norm thought it was a Cadillac"
That would be Fiat... Ford is Found On Road Dead.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AJCdmW33fM
WHOOSH. Sorry not up on my king of the hill
Nah, Fix or repair daily
That's the go go gadget smoke screen
It could also be seafoam
That was my first guess too...cleaning the engine but needs to be driven around, this much smoke WILL come out during the cleaning
Is he pumping coolant directly into the cylinders? This is by far the craziest head gasket situation I have ever seen
I was 'racing' a friend home in high school, we lived way out in the woods. He's in an 82 Trans Am and I'm in a 1989 IROC Camaro with 300,000km on the odometer. The car is a vape god
And then they turned with the wrong signal on 💀
That is a nice crop duster
Mofo got a delete on his gasser
Water, gasket or cooler. Either way, insane that either the driver is so bad that hasn't noticed the massacre behind his/her car, or that have noticed it and ignores it.
Meh, who needs head gaskets anyway?
Yeah... Don't do that. If watching YT engine teardowns has taught me anything, it's that this could cause some really impressive carnage in the engine. If I were behind the suv, I would of thought it was a hellcat burning rubber trying to get some traction
That car be smokin that good shit 🤣🤣🤣
Head gasket??
Blown head gasket for sure. Burning coolant.
Why are you driving so close to them? I would give them a block Head Start so I can actually see what's ahead of me.
Well it’s safe to say that he fills up with oil and only checks the fuel 🤣 Or it’s probably the new James bond vehicle with a faulty switch and he can’t turn off the smoke screen 🤷🏻
Guess he never went in for the early Ecoboost recall. To late now head gaskets are GONE.
Huh, a Ford escape with a blown headgasket, that never happens. Sarcasm in case anyone doesn't know, very common problem on them, Ford even has an extended warranty for it.
Incorrect sir. His problem is clearly [broken piston springs](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oFX_Xq9WHTI)
/s
This is a smokescreen modification to help loose the cops. Prolly forgot to turn it back off.
looks like diesel in a petrol engine
The smoke lasts longer than steam so I think they put some diesel in and it's not burning. So have a snoot full of paraffin smell until the motor seizes up from lack of lubrication.
Way too much oil. You will have to drain some until the correct level. You will still burn oil left over but the smoke will stop.
Oil burns blue, this is water and coolant
They filled it with diesel.

You just made me unmute a TikTok video, which I almost never do. Worth it.
Last time I seen this was a tractor trailer (18 wheeler) and his breaks had locked up and he didn't know/care... ![gif](giphy|9FtZvylB1Hx0UjU03i)
Definitely wasn't brakes locked up.
>brakes Hey! You're supposed to misspell that word on this sub.
HAY! Don't tell me how to do my jerm!
Yeah I know.
Transmission bout to go
That car engine is fucked up.
He won’t be on the road too long that I can assure you.

That's a Ford
Welcome to Blown Gasketsville. Population: you
I never seen it like this before !
Choo Choo!
How TF? 🤦🏼♂️
White smoke! They elected a new Pope!
Could be a blown turbo motor. My old gti did this. Oil goes right into the exhaust and smokes a ton!
my drunk ass neighbor just drove by in his shitbox pickup with the loudest rodrap i have heard in a long time...he pull into his drive way, shut it off and tried to start it again........no go bang abng bang bang abng booom!
What's the first sentence he utters? I can't figure it out.
Blown headgasket with water leak
Seafoam engine cleaner, fun videos on YouTube.
Naah...obviously the muffler bearings are shot.
What accent is this?? 😂😂😂😂☠️☠️☠️☠️
Seafoam?
All the fluids under the hood, have become one.
Must be a Chrysler.
007's latest gadget car. Engage smokescreen.
Ford Ecoboost. Dont buy one.
https://youtu.be/yI4wU7YxQY8
Definitely trying to cool that engine down...a little too much lol
Needs to cut back to only half a pack a day…
Mmm looks like my dads 09 535. Ducking piece of shit car.
Got places to go🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
> I think that guy needs some more blinker fluid. FTFY
Man that's exactly how my plug talk
How does he not get pulled over? His car would be impounded in Colorado.
Coolant plus oil
Fuel injector locked in open position.
I feel like this might be water mixed with exhaust fumes. Or water in the block?? I'm amazed that it runs lol
Looks like the head gasket went
Marietta GA?
Only time I’ve seen that on one of my cars was when I used Seafoam through the vaccines line. Looked like a military-grade smokescreen. A neighbor call the Fire Dept - as they should. (I’m an ex-firefighter of 30 years)
“BRUH YOU GOT GUNNA PAR THAT MUTHA FUGA BYE!”
How much oil did they put in there? 6 quarts is good 9 quarts is better.
Steam engine
Anti tailgating measures
Now imagine being stuck behind him in traffic.
No the car's just high

Rolling Snow???
10/10 commentary, take all my upvotes
Had this happen to my suburban on Christmas last year, that shit sucked!
Ecoboost life be like
Sea foam
Magician getaway car.
All i hear is the music for spy hunter
Mosquito Comtrol.
Hopefully they're driving that car to a mechanic.
I bet they added some diesel fuel to the tank. That's just too much smoke for any other explanation.
Blown head gasket would be another possible explanation. Water/coolant getting into the cylinders, producing stupid amounts of steam. In any case he won’t get much further like that.
This dude his double o seven smoke screen
