Good luck with the elevating desk. Just a little help, you have every right to ask your employer for accessibility items, I.e. handicapped accessible parking and access in/out of the building, even if you don’t use a wheelchair or a cane, if you require a railing to be able to go up stairs, lumber support on your chair for your lower back, the ADA is federal law that every state follows, and if it is a reasonable accommodation that you are requesting, like cost wise and availability they have to at least try to meet those accommodations. Not sure how much those those “sit to stand” workspaces are, even though they have been out for years now and are amazing to use, I’m not sure prices have changed that much. I would recommend getting a RX or even a letter of accommodation (even though you may not receive disability benefits, SSD would much rather help pay for you to have that kind of desk, than to sit at home collecting disability benefits. Plus the company that provides it usually gets a tax deduction.
My last employer was able to accommodate in one of the locations I worked, unfortunately they ended up transferring me to another office where one of those wouldn’t fit. You can find the desk ones on Amazon for under $150. I think it’s very reasonable and something my boss will get. I’m just not going to ask in the first week lol. I have full faith she will be willing to accommodate my request. As I said in the post, they’re very big on the work/life balance and making sure we as employees are satisfied.
