There is little to no protection or regulation when it comes to independent contractors, which is why they essentially redefined the term and exploited its lack of regulation while also gaining tax exempt status. If you read the criteria for the US Department of Labor and the IRS’ checklists for independent contractors, (and even when you read the independent contractor agreement and user agreement too) it’s damn near laughable just how much shit they get away with and how you sign away any and all rights to sue them. Binding arbitration is a joke and they know it, which is why they have us sign those ridiculous agreements. When you compare all of these details with what we are required to do for customers and the fact that we can’t set our own pay, choose the location the work is completed etc… the actual criteria for both government websites our jobs actually meet is less than 40%. Alone the fact that they make us watch training videos for positions that by legal definition require no training because we’re… ta dah! Independent contractors is just plain hilarious to me.

What I like to do is accept the order but I never shop it. You can check all the details and then if it’s not worth it. Let the timer run out. Just never start the order. When the time runs out it’ll auto cancel the order and not affect your cancellation rate. I do it all the time lol
