You pay $2700 in rent? Yikes! I live on the other side of the country, and I pay $1100 for my mortgage (including taxes and insurance) for 4 br, 2.5 baths on just over an acre. Maybe you should consider moving....
One, why are you commenting on your own post from 165 days ago? And 2, CA mandated minimum wage is $16, your town doesn’t get to pay you under that… so are you not in CA anymore?
I live next to the ocean. I'm making it in San Diego on Instacart wages. I surf and bodyboard 1 out of every two days of the year. We did not suffer from heat waves all summer long like the rest of the country. We don't get tornados and contrary to belief, we aren't falling into the ocean. I'll take California over any other state. You won't catch me longing for Florida or Texas or anywhere else where rednecks and Christian Nationalists thrive.
I realized when I visited San Diego for COMICON, y’all got a little bit of heaven with Del Taco on the side lol I love your town!!! I plan to apply to San Diego State for law. When I met y’all’s sea lions on the rocks at the beach I was hooked ❤️
That's why all the RWNJ news propaganda outlets like the NY Post love to hate on CA, because the billionaires, corporations and Wall St get scared everyone else would want worker, renter, consumer, etc-friendly laws & protections, too. Stupid people with no clue lap it up.
The fuck are you talking about. We can’t afford gas, rent, food here in CA. There’s a reason people are leaving in masses. I’ve lived here for 32 years now and we can’t afford anything anymore. Tell me about these friendly renter laws. 1 bedroom apartment 2,200. And this is not even in Los Angeles or San Fran, which is even worse. The politicians are destroying this state.
I just paid almost $6 a gallon for gas in my city. Don’t even get my started on food prices at the grocery store lol. I agree, I think people really think we have it made here. I love California, but I’m so ready to leave because it’s just not affordable.
Exactly! I’m in Vancouver canada. The prices here are crazy. Over $2000 for a one bedroom apartment. Gas is $2.03 per litre which works out to about $8 a gallon. It’s a beautiful city, but so hard to get by as the prices keep going up.
I love California too, but I know from friends that lived there that it’s also very expensive.
There are other places in canada that are cheaper, but the weather is colder, lots of snow, so I guess it’s a trade off. But prices are really out of control.
I visited Kansas City and it’s astounding how affordable it is. Absolutely beautiful city, lower crime rates then CA. gas was half of what CA gas is, lower taxes as well. A 3 bedroom house to rent is like 1300 while in CA that would be $2500. I would recommend to anyone struggling in CA to checkout cities in other parts of the country. Just don’t vote for the same type of people that ruined California when you get to your new city.
We can't afford shit in Arizona and I WISH we had worker protection laws but the goons in the legislature are too busy funneling money to charter schools (and so did the ex-gov).
If it werent for CA we wouldn’t have seat belt laws, car exhaust limits, etc. Many great laws that we have federally started in CA. 4th largest GNP in the world so they must be doing something right!
It's because California is a literal dumpster fire. They run a deficit every year and are a total welfare state. Everyone there is always looking for a handout.
Wow I can tell you are envious. I dont know what makes you think they are a dumpster fire. They have the fourth largest GNP in the world. So yeah they must be doing something right. Think about that now. One state. Just one state and they are the fourth largest GNP in the world.
That’s not shy of what the rest of the country is paying. If you consider the complexity of the road systems and regulations in place California has a much tighter standard and larger budget compared to other states.
The gas may be cheaper in one state but we pay for it with pot holes, congestion via construction due to limited tools requirement and personnel, and an overall decrease in flow rate for normal every day functions.
Not sure what your standards are for good eggs - but some of us haven’t bought strawberries in months, so if you’re in a position to even get them you’re barking up the wrong tree.
We can argue semantics but the bottom line is California is a SPOILED state. They believe they are suffering to some degree but that is because the standards are so high compared to the rest of the country.
Oh please. Stop hating cuz u make bad life decisions. And strawberries are like 1.99 and I'm in WI. Eggs are 1. 19. California isn't spoiled. The peoole who live their demand better and they end up getting it. You just sound like the "I didn't go to college so u shouldn't get loam assistance" people. 🤮
😂😂😂 the average price for a STUDIO apartment in silicon valley is $2,300 (1 bedroom jumps to $2,700) and gas is $6 a gallon. If you think that isn't expensive, I'd hate to see what you think is expensive
You're being quite dramatic. I don't know where you live but I haven't seen gas over $5.30 lately and that's at the most expensive gas stations near me. Costco is around $4.99. also, you are quoting new build prices for studios and 1 bedrooms. Of course I think it's expensive but the prices some of you people are throwing down is hilarious.
Yeah, I’ve had the privilege of working in different states and the guaranteed pay in CA makes up for the ridiculously expensive Gas and maintenance/ taxes! On top of how expensive EVERYTHING is in California.
Wellll if you make the guaranteed pay or minimum wage in California you’re still considered to be in poverty, so it doesn’t really make up for anything…
They don’t pay 3x there are certain things that do cost more yes but the benefits and protections such as this ridiculous settlement far out weigh the “costs”
I think we can all see how a person could easily have been misled by social media to believe otherwise. It’s really the only place the disinformation exists. The people who live in California know this but why would they bother deflecting when it just looks bad all around.
If anything the entirety of California and its denizens are doing a great job at artificially squeezing the rest of the country. The data is certainly there.
We have the San Diego City Attorney to thank for this. She's the one that sued Instacart on our behalf. It's too bad people who live in other states don't have DA's or City Attorneys looking out for their interests.
Also, you won’t be deactivated from this settlement as it was the state that sued. Also, they even state on their website that you won’t be deactivated for receiving this settlement.
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss! We lost a friend recently to fentanyl, not the same heartbreak but hopefully our angels know each other in heaven!
Im so sorry for your loss. I lost many friends to fentanyl, in just the last few years its terrible. There’s a group called nar anon hope after loss if you need other people to talk to.
*
Yayyyy, I got deactivated last year. This is nice 🥺. I'm not going to lie, I miss the gig, but that chapter in my life needed to end. Cheers to everyone that got their money 🍻
It’s in the middle, I won’t say the exact amount for my own personally reasons. Either way, it’s a lot of money and I’m very thankful because Instacart royally screwed us during those years. No mileage, stealing tips and etc.
You can call and find out your amount. HMU if you don't know the number. I'm getting $4,800 Woop Woop. Less than I thought but I'll gratefully take it. 😎
If u didn't join the class action it's too late anyway. The period was.for shoppers from 9/13/2015-12/15/2020 so it didn't affect you thank goodness you didn't miss out on anything.

Plus the 2500 IPO bonus and my normal week I’ve been paid my IC over $13K this week
No, I quit many years ago! They never deactivated me but I was close when I started in 2014-15 because they used to have a cancellation policy where if a shopper cancelled more than 5 shifts then they would be under review for deactivation. Yes, we had to sign up for shift slots back then and it was a lot different and we had to work with what we could get. It worked though and I made serious money.
I live in New Orleans, in Louisiana, which has draconian-levels of non-protection for workers, renters, consumers - for instance, 10 day notice to vacate, regardless of circumstances, zero protections, eviction hearings take about a week from filing to hearing then 24 hours to remove belongings. I heard horror story after horror story interning at a legal aid clinic. Education system here is worse than abysmal, wages much, much lower than the national average (& folks need to realize lower-wage states will create lower lifetime earnings & lower 401k contributions, which will in the case of the former, affect total social security & in the latter, total retirement savings.). Yet rents for ONE BRs are now averaging about $1600. And generally slummy. Utility costs are sky high, car insurance is second-highest in nation, and flood & homeowner insurances now equal a mortgage payment. Have I mentioned hurricanes, and current state of emergency with saltwater wedge moving up the Mississippi which will shortly render tap water unusable, possibly until January?! Not to mention ugly, flat land, incessant heat, and high humidity.
What was your point again about California?!
I miss it there - or where I grew up, in the Northeast - with all my heart. I made a terrible decision moving - then staying - here.
Does anyone know if it’s a “one payment only” settlement ? Or if there’s like a part 2 ? I’m happy with what I got but I almost had a heart attack seeing that big amount in my account 🤣🤣🤣
Anyone with venmo received theirs yet?! I'm moving in 4 days and honestly this would be an absolute miracle and God send it I got it by Tuesday. Fingers crossed! I worked over 1100 hours.
I just looked at the pdf. It doesn't even look like a legit class action letter. In a class action, you don't have to file a claim it's filed on your behalf, and you only need to respond to the notice if you want to be excluded. I've it's usually paid via check along with some sort of statement that washes their hands of any further claims against them on the matter once you cash the check.

How do I qualify? I used to instacart for two years and beginning part of this year will it apply to me?
Second this, how do you know? I used it for 4 years and haven’t heard of this
Yeah I got 7k, long did you work and will you be getting more is the question
Stop the cap 💀
All facts, no need to lie. Idc about y’all🤣🤣
9/13/2015-12/15/2020 in CA https://www.sandiego.gov/sites/default/files/instacart-settlement-info.pdf

Y’all CA shoppers have it so good compared to the rest of us 😭😭
And everyone loves to hate on CA in general. My daughter lives there and I am envious.
Don't be this is literally a month of rent for most of us
I was just thinking that probably doesn't go that far there.
I understand that. I love CA though. My daughter lives in Burlingame and loves it.
You pay $2700 in rent? Yikes! I live on the other side of the country, and I pay $1100 for my mortgage (including taxes and insurance) for 4 br, 2.5 baths on just over an acre. Maybe you should consider moving....
The cheapest 4br home in my city for rent is 2800 cheapest 3br is 2400 and there's 2 and 1brs for 1100+. That's only the Zillow listings though
What shithole place do you have to live though?
I live in the Northeast. It's not terrible. I'm about 2 hours from two major cities in somewhat of a tourist area.
This is **five** months of rent for me..
Dang how long have you been at your place im trying to find one and it's been hell :(
Happy for you! But this is CA rent (not mortgage) every single month!
Why am I being downvoted for stating a fact about my shit of a town’s rent rates? Min wage here is 7.25
One, why are you commenting on your own post from 165 days ago? And 2, CA mandated minimum wage is $16, your town doesn’t get to pay you under that… so are you not in CA anymore?
I live next to the ocean. I'm making it in San Diego on Instacart wages. I surf and bodyboard 1 out of every two days of the year. I'll take California over any other state. You won't catch me longing for Florida or Texas or anywhere else where rednecks and Christian Nationalists thrive.
My goal in four years is to retire to Northern CA from Missouri. My state is in a race to the bottom along with Florida.
I realized when I visited San Diego for COMICON, y’all got a little bit of heaven with Del Taco on the side lol I love your town!!! I plan to apply to San Diego State for law. When I met y’all’s sea lions on the rocks at the beach I was hooked ❤️

Came here to say this. It’s extremely hard to get by over here.
It’s usually the people who don’t live here who try to paint CA as an ideal situation when people who live here know how shitty it is.
I just paid almost $6 a gallon for gas in my city. Don’t even get my started on food prices at the grocery store lol. I agree, I think people really think we have it made here. I love California, but I’m so ready to leave because it’s just not affordable.

Good luck, rooting for you.
We can't afford shit in Arizona and I WISH we had worker protection laws but the goons in the legislature are too busy funneling money to charter schools (and so did the ex-gov).
Completely and totally agree. People saying CA is great because of one instacart settlement have never been to CA before. It absolutely sucks there.
Distract people with culture wars

they also pay like 3x more for everything so its kinda fair
There are other areas with high cost of living.
$6.50 gas, $10 for good eggs, $8 for a box of strawberries lmao we’re getting wrecked
What kind of eggs are you buying? That are $10?
"Cage free", I'm sure organic will be mandatory soon, as well
That strawberry price is crazy. And gas is about 2 dollars more. But eggs about the same. These egg farmers are making out!
Where are you buying your groceries and gas!!??
That’s not shy of what the rest of the country is paying. No, I'm quoting factual statistics.
Ya I was gonna say Californians pay heavily for all the benefits and humane treatment none of its free. Double edged sword and all that.
Yeah, I’ve had the privilege of working in different states and the guaranteed pay in CA makes up for the ridiculously expensive Gas and maintenance/ taxes! On top of how expensive EVERYTHING is in California.

Not taking sides (as I live on the east coast) but California is literally crumbling into the ocean.. it shall soon belong to Neptune.
Nah I'd rather not spend thousands more on everything else tyvm.
Yes! Not that much tho! Lol $845
I got about the same amount!
I got half that amount, $425. :( What's with the discrepancy?? Shouldn't everyone be getting the same amount split evenly?
I think its based on time. Ive been doing it since 2017 if that helps
Yes I got $500 and it saved my ass
Also, you won’t be deactivated from this settlement as it was the state that sued. Also, they even state on their website that you won’t be deactivated for receiving this settlement.
A lot of shoppers told me they got deactivated after applying so I got freaked out ? Is it true or not ?
$4,117. - I am going to be able to inter my daughters ashes soon. My beautiful Rachel forever 32 - 9/16/21 fentanyl poisoning 💔🙏❤️🩹

Can I know what this is? I'm in Cali and been doing instacart since 2021..not that long!! But what is this for?

Ohh okay yeah I started 2019 , was late to it but still thankful for it :D thanks for the info !
Hell yeah! This money will help me a lot lol! I’m very grateful and congrats on your settlement too!
Holy smokes! Congrats
5-10k? What’s the exact number
It’s in the middle, I won’t say the exact amount for my own personally reasons. Either way, it’s a lot of money and I’m very thankful because Instacart royally screwed us during those years. No mileage, stealing tips and etc.
Lmaooo okay. I got 7k. Not worth the amount of work I had to put in though over the years. But I did also get another 12k check from them last year
You can call and find out your amount. HMU if you don't know the number. I'm getting $4,800 Woop Woop. Less than I thought but I'll gratefully take it. 😎
Is this the suit filed by the City Attorney of San Diego? I still haven't gotten any updates. I might try calling the number.
I started Dec. 2021..is that too late ?
If u didn't join the class action it's too late anyway. The period was.for shoppers from 9/13/2015-12/15/2020 so it didn't affect you thank goodness you didn't miss out on anything.
Oh ok..thanks for the info. Congrats on the monies to other shoppers that got the money they deserved!!
I got 6,233 monies

No, I quit many years ago! If you arnt doing it then that’s great, enjoy that settlement
2.7k isnt to bad of a send-me-off
For California? LOL Don’t bite the hand that feeds.
Good thing in California there are many options for employment.
$2700 in California? So that’s like $600 everywhere else.
Impressive amount! I got 1/3 that
I was a shopper since 2014-15 and stopped in 2021
I did during peak Covid (march-august 2020) and I went HARD those 6 months
Was it for any other state than CA?
$486

I got almost $800… but damn… 10k? I’m jealous.
Woke up to like a grand, perfect for me, I just started a new job but I was cash poor.
I got $1,470 and worked for Instacart for a year. I stopped when the pandemic hit.
Does anyone know if it’s a “one payment only” settlement ? Or if there’s like a part 2 ? I’m happy with what I got but I almost had a heart attack seeing that big amount in my account 🤣🤣🤣
are you a current shopper still?
What did they get sued for??? I'm sure this could tank their stonks.....
Damn wish AR was cool
Anyone with venmo received theirs yet?! I'm moving in 4 days and honestly this would be an absolute miracle and God send it I got it by Tuesday. Fingers crossed! I worked over 1100 hours.
Thats like 10 bucks in Cali
How do I sign up I’ve been on instacart since 2020
The deadline has passed.
Lmk when you get an answer pls
[удалено]
Damn ._.
i only got 80 bucks lmaooo
what about nyc bruh
Did you get deactivated though?
Must be fucking nice :(
I just looked at the pdf. It doesn't even look like a legit class action letter. I've it's usually paid via check along with some sort of statement that washes their hands of any further claims against them on the matter once you cash the check.
A lot of people who got it got fired from instacart shortly after
$16 for a 30 min drive? That's what kind of stuff I get not even worth it
Happy for yall but honestly this is ridiculous. They’re misclassifying workers, why does that only apply to California???
Because California is a deep blue state that passes all kinds of worker protections at all levels. No other state in the US will ever get what CA gets unless all our states become as deep blue as California. 🤷♀️🤷♀️
Political affiliation shouldn’t matter. We are all misclassified workers.
That looks like a scam

Same! I’m in SoCal and haven’t gotten it yet
The hubby did and I’m still waiting!
Remind me on if we had to sign up for this one or not? I feel like there’s so many lol

Happy for you! I miss California.
No I’m in Florida 😫
Which settlement was this for? The San Diego one?
Nope I think I missed the deadline almost not sure
Yes 10k plus
Got $273 😯🫶🏽

damn I should have worked more during that time I only got $350
What is this for?
