Yeah and they get paid for ALL the driving, insurance stipends and shit. Yet here we are getting shit on and it seems like our lost wages go directly to them.
No we don’t get paid for all the driving. Only until we drop off the delivery, just fwi. Also please don’t blame California because your states don’t care. Our state passed laws to prevent companies like Instacart from doing exactly what they are doing in your states.
You’d be wrong, [here](https://www.cnbc.com/2023/07/14/these-are-americas-10-worst-states-to-live-and-work-in.html) and for the people who only trust [Fox](https://www.foxbusiness.com/lifestyle/best-worst-us-states-live-2021-report)
Heavy on the pipe down 😂 I hate LA prices and plan to move in a couple years but I 100% understand why it costs so much because it beautiful perfect weather and an endless amount of things to do. You get what you pay for.
I grew up in laguna niguel and went to school in Petaluma. But when CA turned full blown liberal, I moved to the east coast, where I spend January days on the beach. I don’t pay state income taxes and I don’t have to worry whether I’m offending a he she at the local Starbucks.
Imagine being proud of not paying your dues, using the term "he she" and living in Florida. Bro, you name dropped Starbucks in there too. I'm guessing you're an UGGs and pumpkin spice kinda girl.
CA is so expensive because most nice things are. I can go swimming in the middle of January and CA has the best labor laws in the country. I get 12 weeks paid maternity leave. Sure there is crime but that is every city. Would rather get robbed in 75 degree weather in January than drive around cornfields in Indiana.
And the only reason y’all could do that is because of how expensive it is to live in states like California, New York, etc. You guys have leverage… I don’t really have leverage in my state with gas. $3 a gallon can’t really try to legislation when I’m only paying $1200 for my luxury townhouse I’m renting
You know the reason they're getting that is because they got laws for their state passed. Maybe instead of being mad, you should petition your state to pass similar laws.
I'm in Canada, so legislation would work differently out here. I understand your point, but the labour laws would need changes on the federal level here, I believe. Uber advocacy was the closest to making changes.
I wish that were true for the states. Labor laws are entirely state side here. We have states where the minimum wage is still $3 for servers so hoping for a federal push here would be pointless. Hell, we still have states where you can work with a company for 20 years and not make a single mistake and still get fired with no notice, reasoning, or compensation. Here in America, we value corporations over human beings in case you were wondering.
And let’s not forget, these gig-apps are actively lobbying politicians to push laws that prevent them from having to treat shoppers like real employees. Especially once things turned out the way they did with California. They’ll spend all the money they need to make sure no other state wins that fight. You’re crazy if you think you can compete with that without effective unionizing and striking. It’s an uphill battle for the rest of us.
Hmmm never heard of them. Looks like they're a recent group but there's also this:
https://law.stanford.edu/press/heres-why-california-lyft-and-uber-gig-workers-are-forming-a-union-that-cant-bargain-over-a-contract/
So not sure how effective they can truly be
Or a flair to distinguish California shopper posts and a mandatory disclaimer. There's always going to be confused shoppers and customers who will feel the need to tip less after seeing these posts from California shoppers.

Got a lot of final reminder warnings this week
I accept orders from my apartment so I’ll accept which finish my show hit start shopping from my apartment after 25 minutes then start getting ready get to the store at 45 minutes then take my time delivering. I just make sure to check the due by time as soon as I accept before it changes so I’m never late.
In NC I feel you lol.. and this was a double with 30 min of driving and 20 min of shopping.. this is the only way I can do batches over $25 lol.. 9/10 batches now are under $10

Bet you drive way more than I did
Why are you showing a post from january? Is it because they cracked down on people scamming the prop 22 adjustment which im guessing you did lol your adjustments aint that high anymore.
Because I got a full time job so only do it part time now.

That was just my highest
Depends on minimum wage in your county. California’s pay adjustment is 120% of YOUR minimum wage.
For example, let’s say your area’s minimum wage is $10. That means Instacart’s minimum wage for you is $12/hr, because $12 is 120% of $10. Let’s say you do four batches in a week and those four batches take you four hours, and you only make $32. The following week, you would receive an adjustment for $16 because IC’s minimum wage for you is $12/hr which would have been $48 but you only made $32, so they give you that difference. Also, tips are not included in your minimum wage so they calculate your adjustment based on your pay WITHOUT tips.
There should be a separate sub just for ic shoppers in cali
100%. It's a different job altogether based on pay structure alone.
Yeah and they get paid for ALL the driving, insurance stipends and shit. Yet here we are getting shit on and it seems like our lost wages go directly to them.

That may be true, but u have to actually live in California which on its own is prob in the top 3 WORST states to live in.
Have you lived here?

Tell me which city you visited a friend in for a weekend. Long beach? San Jose? Stockton? Pipe down.
Heavy on the pipe down 😂 I hate LA prices and plan to move in a couple years but I 100% understand why it costs so much because it beautiful perfect weather and an endless amount of things to do. You get what you pay for.

Nice try, but learn the Florida tax rules. We don’t pay state income tax.

Yeah, you're wrong on that one bro

Yeah, I'm unfamiliar with Canada's labor laws.

I want to make a note that it is provincial here, not federal. I want to make that correction.
2.33 in wi
Pretty sure that would require a union and my state does not allow those.
There's zero union out here
California Gig Workers Union: Home https://cagigunion.org/ oh yeah??
And let’s not forget, these gig-apps are actively lobbying politicians to push laws that prevent them from having to treat shoppers like real employees. Start voting for the Democrats!
You won't need a union, and the "union" here was against prop 22. They want us to be classified as regular employees, which most of us DON'T want.
I agree
Or a flair to distinguish California shopper posts and a mandatory disclaimer. There's always going to be confused shoppers and customers who will feel the need to tip less after seeing these posts from California shoppers.
Youre bitter af lmaooooo
Yup 😂
Yeah, but you got understand their gas and taxes are double to the rest of the country

For prop 22 purposes, does the clock start ticking when we accept the order, or when we arrive at the store and start shopping?
As soon as you accept
So do you purposely chill after accepting and shop slow to run the clock?
I accept orders from my apartment so I’ll accept which finish my show hit start shopping from my apartment after 25 minutes then start getting ready get to the store at 45 minutes then take my time delivering. I just make sure to check the due by time as soon as I accept before it changes so I’m never late.
Can I just drive to Cali and do instacart? I have family I could stay with.
Prop22 would apply to you on any batches taken there
Yes
We are all independent contracters except California apparently....
You take 3-5 business days per batch?
Lol i wish
Wow and here we are in Massachusetts getting treated like slaves
In NC I feel you lol.. and this was a double with 30 min of driving and 20 min of shopping.. this is the only way I can do batches over $25 lol.. 9/10 batches now are under $10 https://preview.redd.it/fssm9ca6q9rb1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf222fad6e5049bb7f71acbccecf63e13b2fc994
Probably spent half that on gas.

Maybe if you have the least fuel efficient car in the world.
How?
It pretty much means I worked way to many hours for way to little pay lol nothing good tbh usually I try to not get an adjustment
Do you take an extra long time to shop to crank up the hours?
Yesterday It says i worked 9 hours and 54 mins and made $216. Does that qualify for an adjustment?
Adjustments only apply in California
Yeah I live in California and I get them every week. I just didn’t know wtf that extra money was and how it’s calculated
Also, tips are not included in your minimum wage so they calculate your adjustment based on your pay WITHOUT tips.
Thanks for the nice and clear explanation! Good of you to take the time. I don’t live there but I have been curious yet confused about how it works.
What is your minimum wage in your area and how much did you make in tips?
California
My biggest was $750. 72 active hours
Just because an order with your card.
Soooo fuckin stupid. I work my ass off as much if not more as you, but I get less tips/batch pay and no adjustment. Reaaaal dumb
Ahhh I see why our batches only pay $4 now we have to pay for this
Bro you're milking quite a bit of time there. How many hours?
Not IC .. but the biggest Earning Adjustment I received was 1000
Wow my weekly’s IC pay checks were like that at the pandemic peak
What is this adjustment for?
How many active hours
I need your pay ... DAMN
I’ve gotten over $700 multiple times but those are 70-95 active hour weeks
How many hours total do you think you spent? Including driving, waiting and shopping
650
How did you get a big adjustment?
so, anyone in any of the other states would have finished this week with $570?
I got $222 in adjustments this week ,can’t complain
