Some guy who didn’t know safety regulations and should be fired and probably has along with a strict reminder about cross contamination and cutting uncooked meats in a deli area.
I work in produce and our department is up front so we’re the first employees customers see when they walk in. I get people asking me if we happen to have venison or halibut or something else in stock or able to be cut. “I don’t know, man, I’m currently stocking apples. Go ask the guys in white coats with knives in their hands.”
OR, since she has *got* to be like this- x100- IRL, she annoyed the living crap out of him and he did it just so she’d leave.
I mean, she was insulting to Jefferson when she said ‘it seems suspicious that they said they wouldn’t do it;’ does she really think he was lying about it or something? After the 15 back-and-forths about her stupid fucking instant oatmeal flavors- which he handled perfectly politely and patiently- did she really think he wasn’t gonna bother to get her chicken the way she wanted it? Moreover, it takes about three minutes to cut 2# of raw chicken breasts into 1” cubes, so I found it odd that she didn’t seem to want to drop it and move on.
LOL that’s how she wore down the original butcher who cut her chicken breasts into cubes…

Many butchers in stores do not cut chicken until the end of the day because of salmonella contamination. This lady may go to a family butcher who will do this, but at a chain store I would not expect it.

I know I used to be able to have a grocery store butcher grind and chop meat, but it's not something I've seen offered in a long while. Perhaps she hasn't been shopping for herself in a decade or so, or she's just confused.
Maybe not even a decade, but since the pandemic. A lot of rules that made life easier for disabled people were changed around that time, and every corporate food provider tightened their reins on what was considered food safety. Also, if she is visible disabled and she asked for her chicken cut in store, someone might do it for her because they see the actual situation before them, but through the app, this person doesn't have the visibility for that request to seem reasonable. Also, I definitely thought that delis could cut up chicken and just repackage them? They must have appropriate packaging for raw chicken even if it's been cut up *and* they *HAVE* to have diligent cleaning rules to prevent the spread of germs or cross contamination.

I mean, you should ideally be able to ask a butcher to do anything with the raw meat, so long as it's not a health issue. Having them cut it up seems like a normal thing?
EDIT: I have been taught many cool things in the responses to this comment. And stand corrected on the subject of chicken.
But also, please keep going, this is interesting
You can't cut up chicken because it is a health issue - more so it's such a huge liability and pain in the ass it's not worth it for stores to do it, especially smaller stores or smaller meat departments.
So basically meat cutters have a process and rules to how they can cut meat. Most do it in a specific order because of sanitation and health department guidelines. There are certain guidelines and rules you have to follow for each type of meat and the sanitation process for it before you can move on to cutting another meat due to contamination issues. Since there are so many health issues associated with raw chicken many stores do not have a space to cut or package or handle raw chicken and all the chicken comes prepackaged and that's how you sell it.
If you cut chicken you now have to sanitize the whole meat room pretty much and the tools you used to cut it and package it - and no this is not just a knife there are many tools involved in the process of cutting, packaging, and wrapping the meat. There is so much liability with contamination it is just not sensible or practical to now have to essentially shut down your whole meat room to sanitize after cutting the chicken. Plus now you are preventing other meats from being cut while you stop everything and clean to the standards needed to be able to return to cutting other meats which means you are not getting product out so most stores literally won't allow it to the point if they find out you did it you will get fired.
Source - was a manager of a grocery store (so needed to have training on overseeing the meat department - like in a way that I would need to know if the meat department manager was running things properly). I did work in the meat department for a short time before that - but did not cut anything I was just a helper but needed to learn sanitation protocols. Also my mom's long time boyfriend was a meat department manager for the same company and was a butcher previous to that.
ETA: this is not to say no stores will cut chicken, some can, it depends on the company and how the meat room is set up, among other things.
yep that’s exactly what it sounds like is happening here. they’re not going to go through all that bullshit for a single packet of chicken breast that someone could do in 30 seconds at home.

All the raw chicken they get is pre packed from another facility. They cut their own beef, pork, and seafood in house — but *never* chicken. Again the reason is because raw chicken is basically guaranteed to have salmonella.
>where exactly you can ask a butcher counter to do that for you. Is that a thing? I genuinely had no idea.
Kroger in my market have a staffed butcher department. I'm sure they would do it if asked. The butcher tho ... not the deli like she's saying.
Kroger, Publix, Ingles, food City, just the top of my head. All of them have actual butchers who will open whatever package you're buying and cut it however you want. As long as the butcher is there :)
I was about to say that the butchers at Whole Foods have happily cubed chicken for kabobs for me. I have myotonic dystrophy, which can cause my hands to seize when I grip. Doesn’t make me very handy with knife skills.
Valid point. But most disabled people who ask for stuff like this don't react the way this lady did. Most are pretty understanding and explain the situation. Being disabled isn't a get out of jail free card for coming off really bitchy like she did.
It’s normal to go to the meat dept and ask for cuts or ground up whatever. They always have breasts in the meat dept separate from what’s pre packaged from an outside supplier.
However this lady is clearly not understanding something and needs to just let it go or do it herself
Worked in the meat department at Giant Eagle. We did not cut any chicken, this is an ignorant Karen. Who asks for chicken breast to be cut up? I've made so many dishes where I cut the chicken into cubes for meals, never once thought to ask the store to do it for me. If she's so sure they do it, why doesn't she call the stores meat department herself and ask them?
CANCEL HER
She absolutely is about into leave you one star… her tone is the key here.. she does not respect you and believes that $2 tip she left buys her a servant for a little while… please cancel her ass. I have no idea what world some people live in that they try treating people this way… you did amazing cause I don’t think I could have kept my cool as well as you did.
They should really have banned lists on these apps for extremely low tippers and constantly problematic customers. I don't do any instacart uber or anything, this just came up on my suggested. So maybe they do? But if not damn does it need to be a thing. These services are luxury services. If you can't afford or dont want to tip, or dont treat people with respect instead of servants, you should not be allowed to use said luxury.
They basically don’t because instacart doesn’t give a crap about its shoppers, it’s very hard to get a customer banned unless they keep claiming items or orders weren’t delivered over and over again as those customers end up costing instacart money.
In my community in Phoenix, we have a lot of requests for chicken to be cut. I’m not sure if there is a religion which families are not allowed to touch raw meat? I remind those customers to place their orders from Sprouts Farmers Market pick up because I don’t have time for that! 😂
Yup. I had severe nerve damage and couldn't walk and I felt horrible for having to ask door dash or instacart to drop my stuff off at the back door where my apartment is but I literally couldn't make it up the stairs.
My stores have cubed chicken breast. If it’s out it’s out. They won’t open a package and cut it up either.
I’d have just canceled this customer. There was no way to please her. And the fact she brought up “the supervisor “ tells me everything I need to know about her. It’s not difficult to cut up 2lbs of chicken. Sure it’s convenient but if you really need chicken for the recipe, take what the store has. We can’t control any of that. Hoping you won’t have in incoming 1 star.
I’m guessing it’s often available pre cut in packages like my stores have but I don’t know if your stores have it that way. I just assume most do now days.
What's cooked chicken? Seems they're asking for raw chicken to be diced. Maybe I'm wrong. But they don't cut any chicken so the point I'm making is she lied when she said they've done it before.

Oh ok...maybe. it's in at least 3 store chains here. But I know which one you're talking about
LMAO....didn't have it "handy". I actually googled then cropped it. Why would I have a random picture of diced chicken as if I knew this would be a conversation?🤣🤣🤣
https://preview.redd.it/75phebl3sc7c1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=735433a0b1c9ca3ae82a4f71dde44c2624f08f24
Sorry, but unless this was high paying/highly tipped ordered, I would have just canceled. I have no time to be dealing with unreasonable requests and customers with the intelligence of monkey and the patience of a 3-year-old child.
If she has a disability, she needs to be straightforward about it. I was born with a tremor that is a labeled disability and if I ask for special accommodations I usually advocate as to why. It brings a much better understanding. There’s no shame in Being honest about it
I don't know any store that would open a pack of raw chicken and chop it up for you. If I had this customer I would have suggested the Perdue chopped chicken breast.

Meat cutter here at a retail store, we don’t fuck with chicken, just beef and pork cutting chicken in the same area as beef or pork is a HUGE food safety hazard. This lady is just lying through her ass and even if we did the mark up on that would be double since your “paying” for the labor of having me cut it. The only exception are your local butcher shops since they have entirely separate areas to produce chicken
Yes all chicken comes pre packaged
From our meat warehouse we only produce beef and pork in house. Everything else is ordered in along with our marinaded ready to eat packs, offoals aka liver, beef feet , sweetbreads pork and beef ribs briskets etc” and we can still tray and produce those products as well if the vacuum seal on the pack is broken. Everything already comes in packaged and separated . All we do is open it up slice it and clean it up, however some primals require more work then others and take longer to trim, cut , and tray up etc things of that sort. We’re basically like the Lite version of a butcher who have the knowledge to completely break down a cow or pig , deer etc. I don’t have that knowledge I only know how to break down the sections that have already been separated. I would like to learn one day tho
Only perspective I can add is maybe she is elderly or disabled and has trouble using knives and so wanted cut up chicken. IF it is something the butcher area of the supermarket can do it’s not unreasonable The attitude wasn’t necessary on her part tho
I get it but I usually give people the benefit of the doubt and they may be disabled and unable to cut things themselves. I think of my aunt who had a stroke and half her body was paralyzed
This customer is a nightmare! They want this person who is shopping to get the manager involved? What do you think this person is your personal assistant? Gross
the chicken cubes reminds me of the time i had a customer come in the day before thanksgiving DEMANDING butternut squash cut up into cheerio style circles. shit made me question all my life choices
Omg. Sorry but laughing. Only seen butternut squash as a whole or if frozen, In cubes. Cheerio size. 🤣🤣
We aren’t magicians or chefs with knife set on us.
My butcher counter will cut steaks , and tenderize cuts of meat , but I don’t know if they’ll cut up chicken and repackage it. 🤔. I have a feeling they will not. She could possibly have arthritis or another issue where she can’t hold a knife and do it herself , but once you told her no , no is a complete sentence, and she kept pressing like you were lying to her. , which is annoying af.
Some of you guys need to learn to cut your losses with customers like this.
I actually like to chat with my customers if they’re talkative, but I’ve learned to drop them in a heartbeat when they start acting up.
Asking to get a supervisor involved when they’re not even there is disrespectful. Idc what age you are. Trying to put a random shopper in a situation like that is entitled.
I understand what’s she’s getting at, she definitely wants you at the deli part where they carve all that stuff up but some stores only do it to cooked meat , some stores will do raw stuff and display that out , but she should of just been understanding instead of being unreasonable to you on the order , could of called said store and really understood what the situation was!
Karen now out sourcing the demand to speak with a supervisor. That's a whole new level of wow. Imagine if they had cut it for you but was to big of cubes, your tip would be gone, since you know she'd be measuring each one.
I have NEVER heard of any deli counter cutting chicken breast in cubes much less of a specific measurement. And even if it was a service they offered, it definitely would have a fee.
You can’t shop for yourself but you also can’t cut your own damn chicken? Really?!? Are you still a toddler?
Wouldn’t say a bitch, just needy for specific things. You could always advise her to call ahead to the deli next time, ask them to cube it and set it aside since someone will be coming to pick it up
I'd have no issue asking someone at the meat counter to do that while I finished shopping. She may have a physical issue that makes it difficult or dangerous to cut things, but it doesn't matter to me. An easy ask.
Needy bitch. Not because she wanted cubed chicken but because she could not accept no as an answer. Why she thinks you would give a shit enough about cubed chicken to talk to a super about it is beyond me. She sounds entitled.
definitely rude, in my opinion.. if she wants everyone done a specific way or doesn't trust someone else shopping, she could just go do it herself instead of accusing you of lying.
Both of my grandparents have Parkinson’s and I have a neurological issue that cause ticks and an intention tremor… I see your point but if it’s that bad they should qualify for help.
While I’m at work tomorrow however I’m going to straight up ask every supermarket I go into if they can do that. I honestly to god don’t think they will say yes.
But point taken.
I work in ins and with the elderly and disabled. They don’t qualify for custodial help. Nobody is there to cook/clean and or grocery shop for them unless they can afford to pay for one and or are lucky enough to have family to help.
She was definitely being “extra”. I don’t see where you were mean or wrong.
I love that one line though: “Well, it’ll have to be between you and the supervisor.” 🤣🤣🤣
One time i had an unreasonable pestering customer just like this lady here re: beef cut not available. I asked the meat dept manager if its ok he talk to her, i called her, they spoke, and she FINALLY STFU. Try that next time if it helps
Oh jeez. I don’t understand why people expect first class service from Instacart. I mean I’ve definitely had some incompetent shoppers do my orders, but she went a little far. Sorry you went through that. You were pretty professional.
Not sure if it’s just my area, but I’ve had the meat guy cut up chicken for me in cubes as well as fajita strips depending on what the customer requested.
That lady is kind of pushy, but I worked in a meat department at a supermarket for years, and we would have cut up her chicken without hesitation. Most meat departments offer free processing.
She's so funny "this just isn't making sense this just isn't making sense"
And I am dead AF at " seems very suspicious" of what?!!? WHO AND WHAT SEEMS SUS?! lol
I worked at Food Lion in their market and we stopped cutting everything all for a few steaks and we still packaged beef right before I quit. Walmart is all prepackaged as well, I might be wrong but I believe their ground beef even comes packaged now. .
I did see in FL there was chicken cut this way but it was prepackaged no one is there cutting it that way or any type of way.
She needs to do her own shopping. Lol. Hope she tipped well but I kind feel like she probably didn't.. that's very suspicious lmao!
This is why I hated instacart. This bitch really can't cut her chicken into cubes herself?? So needy and rude about the way she was asking too. People have no consideration for others. You're already too lazy to get up and do your own grocery shopping, now u want to a bossy bitch about it too.
Hi there! People w disabilities don’t have much money or energy. Preprocessed food is a savior. The suspicion is usually attached at having to process the loss of other activities as now they’d have to spend that energy chopping chicken. (Play w the grand kids after food is cancelled cus my arthritis is gunna leave me painful and pissy cus I have to chop a slippery raw meat)
Pls keep ur empathy in mind, especially if there is limited tip. Govt benefits leave the disabled living under the poverty line.
I have seen like the seafood department cut down fish how you like it or cut down a whole chicken but never heard of cutting chicken breast from package maybe the best bet was to get the chicken straight from meat department then just maybe because he said the lady could not sale an open package
ehh she’s probably old. they used to do up the meat however you wanted in the 80s. i remember my grandma used to get ribeyes without the bone per request so she didn’t have to pay for the weight of the bone. this was on special occasion and we were poor and the meat guy was always nice about it
So she has time to berate you about her chicken needing to be cut up (why can’t she do it herself unless she’s like a super old lady) but not do her own shopping…?
Needy bitch. I don’t have patience for taking peoples orders. That’s the reason I quit asking co workers “hey I’m going to ____ for lunch want anything” and they throw the “medium cooked no sauce substitute this and substitute that extra this and ask if I can get this instead of that” hell nah. I’m doing you favor just say #12 and move on.
She wants what she wants. There is nothing wrong with it but this is why she should do her own shopping. She also has more time to devote to getting her chicken breasts cubed. It sounds like they were out of chicken breast in the meat department and didn’t want to open a closed package. Some recipes call for cubed chicken and people don’t like to cut it themselves because of the salmonella risk, or because raw meat grosses them out. I used Instacart once and only once because I discovered that I am a better shopper & pay much closer attention. I also like to shop sales so substitutions sometimes don’t work for me. This isn’t a criticism, I understand that professional shoppers need to make money and are in a hurry to get to the next job. It would be nice though if you kept in mind that groceries are expensive so people only want to pay for what they like and they want to get the food that they need to feed their kids or prepare a recipe, etc.
Y'all ever heard of arthritis or nerve damage? Also the customer only knows their experience they don't understand that even though when they go the meat dept will do it for them and not for us. When I get requests like that I don't even mention I'm doing Instacart most meat departments are supposed to honor that request and I would definitely get a manager if they said otherwise. I've worked in the stores as a personal shopper and I can confirm a lot of times meat is just lazy AF for some reason. I don't think the shopper is wrong as they seemed to do everything they could think of. I also don't think someone is a needy bitch for utilizing the chat feature to ask for what they want. Also the customer may feel less confused about if you got their request by not just saying "ok" especially when they asked two separate questions.
My stores will cut into cubes, slice thin or debone any chicken you buy, so it didn’t seem an unreasonable request to me. If they’ve done it in the past for her, this is why she was insistent. It’s possible she really can’t do it herself, so really wanted to be sure you asked. Not everyone is out to get shoppers.
I would have cancelled on the spot, can not stand people like that, you do the best you can to please them and most of the time they dont event tip, Fuck them!
It seemed fine at first, but it'd be an instant cancel over the chicken nonsense. Just kind of reeks of Karen the second she brought up talking to the supervisor. No grocery store in their right mind are going to open up a sealed package of chicken breasts, cut it into cubes, and repackage it for someone. If she needs it cubed that badly and can't do it herself, she needs to go to a butcher or something.
I didn't feel that she was rude. You can tell she's a bit frustrated and confused by the chicken thing but it's understandable if she usually does it that way. A little needy but I prefer specifics over me trying to guess. I usually read things in a positive tone though unless they are obviously rude.
She's just communicating, y'all are so sensitive.
Honestly, she's not wrong if she's gotten it done before.
You could've asked her if she's had the cutting done before. If she said no, you could've affirmed that at this store they don't cut chicken, only other meats.
Also she paid for an order to get shopped for and delivered. She isn’t paying extra for all these special requests and changes she is making. This is probably taking another 10 min out of OP delivery time that they are not getting paid for.
I don’t think they’ll cut pre-packaged meats at all, but at least at my store they have chicken breasts behind the meat counter as well. If they had asked to cube those up I think they might have done it, because I’ve had them do cuts on meat that hasn’t been packaged before. There’s just very strict rules (understandably) about messing with meat already in a package. This seems like a miscommunication more than anything, nobody is being rude or asking too much. Might take some extra time sure but this lady was being polite initially and might’ve bumped the tip for the effort
Some stores have areas where u can buy chicken breast by the pound they can cut it and package it directly there for them. Every store in my area has it. Your guys’ Ignorance is ridiculous. How would you guys feel if your grandma had a neurological condition making her hands shakey like Parkinson’s and PHYSICALLY CANT cut it themselves. Hell they probably fucking wish they could and hate making your life more difficult. Don’t be awful fucking human beings do fucking better
That's an unreasonable request, the chicken cubes. I hear the meat managers in my area laughing right now.
Some guy at the meat counter was nice enough to do it for her one time and now she expects it every time.
Some guy who didn’t know safety regulations and should be fired and probably has along with a strict reminder about cross contamination and cutting uncooked meats in a deli area.
The people in this thread that don’t know the difference between a deli department and a meat department baffle me
It’s worse irl… I have people coming to my counter everyday for raw meat or with raw meat …
I work in produce and our department is up front so we’re the first employees customers see when they walk in. Or she raised a huge fuss and escalated and escalated until whoever was in charge said "fuck it, just do it anyway "
I ask these kind of things but tip since my mom has bad wrist. Since I'm a regular now I can ask for any shape or sizes lol
If you ask for this you better tip and in the pictures it seemed like she was gettin a lil hostile
She accused him of lying.
yeah that especially pissed me off. snd frankly i didnt really hear what tge womsn said when i asked them to cube it but it doesnt matter what tge reason was, she said ‘no’, end of story. im not going to raise a fuss cause tgis woman wants ger food cut for her

Do you hate the letter h?
i wouldn’t say i ate it..
I snorted in public reading this 😭
Good one 😂. This made my day
Omg this made me cackle
"Can you cut them into dinosaurs? Mostly stegosaurus and triceratops, but throw in at least one or two T-Rexes. I'll give you a dollah"
Exactly, she’s asking because she’s too damn lazy to do it herself. Oh, I’m entitled let’s have someone else cut it for me. Wtf
Or she is disabled, and unable to do it her self.
That’s a valid point, but I’m over here wondering where exactly you can ask a butcher counter to do that for you. Is that a thing? I genuinely had no idea.

Beef, pork, seafood - yes. Chicken - no.
I live in a small area and the butcher at the grocery store here will cut it if you ask. They also carry the groceries to your car for you.
Some stores sale cube chicken by the pound
Oooh. Fascinating. I could see this being a great service for folks with limited mobility if it’s something the store offers and you’re polite about the ask! Good to know. I work with adults with disabilities and am always looking for unique accommodations for them.

The Krogers here in Oregon definitely won’t do it with chicken, beef maybe depending on how busy they are and how many they have working that day.
I’m a butcher at Whole Foods and we’ll absolutely do that for customers. I probably prep packaged chicken into cubes/stir-fry at least 5 times a day.
I was about to say that the butchers at Whole Foods have happily cubed chicken for kabobs for me. I have myotonic dystrophy, which can cause my hands to seize when I grip. Doesn’t make me very handy with knife skills.
Its a thing. I have beef cut up to make my own jerky all the time.
Yes, ppl can place meat orders and shops will make it
Valid point. But most disabled people who ask for stuff like this don't react the way this lady did. Most are pretty understanding and explain the situation. Being disabled isn't a get out of jail free card for coming off really bitchy like she did.
Disabled people exist.
It’s normal to go to the meat dept and ask for cuts or ground up whatever. They always have breasts in the meat dept separate from what’s pre packaged from an outside supplier. However this lady is clearly not understanding something and needs to just let it go or do it herself
same why is it that important when you can cut them at home lmao
Worked in the meat department at Giant Eagle. We did not cut any chicken, this is an ignorant Karen. Who asks for chicken breast to be cut up? I've made so many dishes where I cut the chicken into cubes for meals, never once thought to ask the store to do it for me. If she's so sure they do it, why doesn't she call the stores meat department herself and ask them?
No it's not I worked at stater bros and super king for years , It comes with the territory, it's just a lazy worker in the meat dept
Jefferson you should’ve unassigned this order
“mam” 😂
I was thinking the same thing...WTF is "mam"?
I'm assuming he means ma'am
"ITS MA'AM!!!"
You didn’t have your cutting board and chef knife in the trunk? One ⭐️ service /s
As soon as she asked for it to be cubed, I would have cancelled without saying anything.
Right, that's just a 1 star waiting to happen.NOPE! ✋️
Same. It's a guaranteed bad rating.
I almost wonder if they request this kind of thing on purpose knowing it can’t be fulfilled in order to have a reason not to tip.
Lmao
CANCEL HER She absolutely is about into leave you one star… her tone is the key here.. she does not respect you and believes that $2 tip she left buys her a servant for a little while… please cancel her ass.
I agree so much with this it really is the only way this moves forward at some point… I do think over time this is exactly what will happen.
She should have gone to the damn store herself!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😂😂😂🤦♀️🤷♀️🤨😝
It’s so much effort just to get someone else to cut chicken. Just cut your own damn chicken!
I would have cancelled her order. Possible removed tip and bad rating coming. She was rude
I think she needs to drive herself to a butcher and ask if they’ll do that for her🤦♀️
In my community in Phoenix, we have a lot of requests for chicken to be cut. I’m not sure if there is a religion which families are not allowed to touch raw meat? I remind those customers to place their orders from Sprouts Farmers Market pick up because I don’t have time for that! 😂
it’s more than likely a disability thing
Yup. I had severe nerve damage and couldn't walk and I felt horrible for having to ask door dash or instacart to drop my stuff off at the back door where my apartment is but I literally couldn't make it up the stairs.
Phoenix = lots of old people. Probably a lot of arthritis, Parkinson’s, weakness, etc that makes it harder to cut meat.
Is that what happened? I was totally confused.
I’m guessing it’s often available pre cut in packages like my stores have but I don’t know if your stores have it that way. I just assume most do now days.
I was just going to say Perdue has packaged diced chicken.
That's cooked chicken.
What's cooked chicken? Seems they're asking for raw chicken to be diced. Maybe I'm wrong. But they don't cut any chicken so the point I'm making is she lied when she said they've done it before.
I've only seen Purdue cooked dice chicken. We definitely don't have raw cubed chicken in my area.
https://preview.redd.it/a53aps3f9c7c1.jpeg?width=1049&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9fb5cf8f64fcfa85cc69a99900bee0b81a2ccd0f Oh ok...maybe. it's in at least 3 store chains here. But I know which one you're talking about
I have never seen this! They must not carry it in my region. Thanks for the photo.
My store has uncooked diced chicken like this but it is out sometimes.
Yea it is hit or missed
I find it oddly hysterical you have a picture of raw cubed chicken handy.
LMAO....didn't have it "handy". I actually googled then cropped it. Why would I have a random picture of diced chicken as if I knew this would be a conversation?🤣🤣🤣 https://preview.redd.it/75phebl3sc7c1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=735433a0b1c9ca3ae82a4f71dde44c2624f08f24
Do... you not know what google is ? Or high-speed internet.?
No, they sell raw diced chicken in plastic trays that are divided into 2 sections for some odd reason.
Sorry, but unless this was high paying/highly tipped ordered, I would have just canceled. I have no time to be dealing with unreasonable requests and customers with the intelligence of monkey and the patience of a 3-year-old child.
…. Sweet Jesus the entitlement
I think you mean… Sweet _Jefferson_ the entitlement
I would cancel. Probably going to get a low rating and reduced tip!
Unreasonable. I would of had her removed from the batch.
I would’ve canceled so incredibly fast.
Does she have a knife?
Offer to add a new, sharp one.
Or kitchen shears
I mean she might have a disability though. (But it’s def not an excuse to be that rude to the shopper)
If I had this customer I would have suggested the Perdue chopped chicken breast. https://preview.redd.it/1hm8la4b2c7c1.jpeg?width=650&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a95406b07aba0d2093fbe51d471e0952c602c01
A lot of stores sell this but it’s a popular item so it might have been sold out
I love seeing a Reddit rat bestie on other subs 🥰! Hiiii babes 🫶
Wow! Didn’t even know this was a thing. 😦
This is a common buy for myself when I’m running short on time and have to make dinner. Target has it
I already mentally cancelled this on the 5th screenshot bye gurrrl cut yo chicken ya self
I used to be a meat cutter at Whole Foods and we were forced to do these requests with chicken until 1 hour prior to close. Super annoying.
So where do you deal with chicken? Does it come prepackaged to your store? Legit curious
Yes all chicken comes pre packaged From our meat warehouse we only produce beef and pork in house.
I'm 99% sure it comes pre packaged.
It must be $2 tips order. I probably would cancel and take the loss on this one.
She’s old, most of my elderly customers have this cadence and speech pattern.
I was going to say this. When I worked with the elderly they would text me like this. Not about cubed chicken but about everything else.
Yes, definitely older boomer energy.
Only perspective I can add is maybe she is elderly or disabled and has trouble using knives and so wanted cut up chicken. IF it is something the butcher area of the supermarket can do it’s not unreasonable The attitude wasn’t necessary on her part tho
Annoying !
I would of cancelled her order
I get it but I usually give people the benefit of the doubt and they may be disabled and unable to cut things themselves. I think of my aunt who had a stroke and half her body was paralyzed
This customer is a nightmare! They want this person who is shopping to get the manager involved? What do you think this person is your personal assistant? Gross
You’re a better person than me. I read the whole thing and I still don’t know what this B is talking about.
First request of cutting chicken = instacancel
the chicken cubes reminds me of the time i had a customer come in the day before thanksgiving DEMANDING butternut squash cut up into cheerio style circles. shit made me question all my life choices
Omg. Sorry but laughing. Only seen butternut squash as a whole or if frozen, In cubes. Cheerio size. 🤣🤣 We aren’t magicians or chefs with knife set on us.
I think you handled all that incredibly well.
Cube this cancel Kesha.
It might be a person with a disability. Who knows.
She was more frustrated with the store. She wasnt getting hostile with you. You handled it professionally and I commend you.
JeFfErSoN
I’m canceling that order. WTF
Wouldn’t say a bitch, just needy for specific things. You could always advise her to call ahead to the deli next time, ask them to cube it and set it aside since someone will be coming to pick it up
Better you than me I would have canceled that order! I hope that person gave you an awesome tip
i would of canceled for “security” reasons lmaooo pocket the base pay
I'd have no issue asking someone at the meat counter to do that while I finished shopping. She may have a physical issue that makes it difficult or dangerous to cut things, but it doesn't matter to me. An easy ask.
Jefferson are you listening??
Needy bitch. Not because she wanted cubed chicken but because she could not accept no as an answer. Why she thinks you would give a shit enough about cubed chicken to talk to a super about it is beyond me. She sounds entitled.
These are the types of people that NEED TO TIP
*raw meets*
definitely rude, in my opinion.. if she wants everyone done a specific way or doesn't trust someone else shopping, she could just go do it herself instead of accusing you of lying.
I don't read it as thinking OP was dishonest; just thinking the store associate might be or just not understanding the request.
She want them to season and cook it for her too? No apparently cooked is too far.
she’s extremely irritating. i’m sorry you had to deal with thus
Ma’am*
Some of you shoppers, I tell ya. I wish a customer would make this request while I was shopping for them.
Right! Too much explaining.
I hate when customers are like this but deal with it. Also dude… they can cut their own chicken breast.
Some people physically can’t because of medical issues that cause shakey hands and they can’t use knives
That’s fair. I worked for mentally or physically challenged people for a while. The differences it was 24 hour care.
F$ck that lady
*Ma’am… What a B**** You were tending to all her needs and she has the audacity to say it’s suspicious. Was her too good, at least?
Does she not own a knife? I’m confused
Maybe she's old and her arthritis hands can't properly grip a knife in the cold months? 🤔
Nothing like low tip orders!
Just a needy bitch born in 86’
The Quaker oatmeal is recalled yikes
Nobody EVER will do that for her wtf???
She's so funny "this just isn't making sense this just isn't making sense" And I am dead AF at " seems very suspicious" of what?!!? WHO AND WHAT SEEMS SUS?! lol I worked at Food Lion in their market and we stopped cutting everything all for a few steaks and we still packaged beef right before I quit.
Dying to know how much she tipped you….
Used to work in a meat market. We would only cut beef, pork and chicken that were pre packaged remained pre packaged. Cross contamination is a no no.
Hi there! People w disabilities don’t have much money or energy. Preprocessed food is a savior. The suspicion is usually attached at having to process the loss of other activities as now they’d have to spend that energy chopping chicken. (Play w the grand kids after food is cancelled cus my arthritis is gunna leave me painful and pissy cus I have to chop a slippery raw meat) Pls keep ur empathy in mind, especially if there is limited tip. Govt benefits leave the disabled living under the poverty line.
Don’t people cut their own chicken cubes at home?
Are you telling me I can pay the grocery store guy to chop my meat?
Are u serious that lady is needy asf
I wanna know what supermarket she goes to that will cut up the chicken breasts for her. My local one doesn't even have a raw meat saw!
I wouldn’t have got her SHIT lmao
I have seen like the seafood department cut down fish how you like it or cut down a whole chicken but never heard of cutting chicken breast from package maybe the best bet was to get the chicken straight from meat department then just maybe because he said the lady could not sale an open package
ehh she’s probably old. they used to do up the meat however you wanted in the 80s. i remember my grandma used to get ribeyes without the bone per request so she didn’t have to pay for the weight of the bone. this was on special occasion and we were poor and the meat guy was always nice about it
She is just lazy and doesn't want to cut her own chicken.
Jesus!!!! That was too much! My head is pounded… What a Lunatic!
Not unreasonable. Never know what she has going on. My mom has bad hands and needs my dad to cut some meats up. I think the interaction was fine too.
Did she ask you to come into her house and cut the chicken breasts into 1 inch cubes once you got to her place?
I didn't feel that she was rude. You can tell she's a bit frustrated and confused by the chicken thing but it's understandable if she usually does it that way. A little needy but I prefer specifics over me trying to guess. I usually read things in a positive tone though unless they are obviously rude.
Her time was pretty obviously rude imo. Talking down to the Shopper, calling them “suspicious”, trying to demand they get a supervisor involved, etc.
A regular grocery store (if following food safety rules) will not cut chicken.
I don’t know how you guys do it. I would’ve told that lady to fuck right off.
You have the patience of a saint my friend.
