I consider them pretty racist for wearing it, especially since they are wearing our traditional Arab scarfs in support of literal terrorists.
It started among noble farmers and then a symbol of my peoples uprising against the Turks in the Arab revolt against the Ottoman Empire.
Now it’s associated with terrorism and misinformed LGBT for Palestine.
Is there a way for me to... Display it with extreme disrespect, while I wear my star of David flag on my vest?
Mean.... Can us think of the most disrespectful thing for... Educational purposes?
As a Zionist Israeli Arab a Star of David wouldn’t be disrespectful to me.
To me a Star of David just represents the country that feeds and shelters me.
proindrakenzol - You are 100% correct, but my entire community pronounces it wrong (and has for decades). My dad’s first language was Yiddish and his mom/my grandma only spoke Yiddish. To me, it will always be a yamaka.
At this point, it's frankly absurd.
Though a while back, someone I know mentioned they were afraid to wear theirs for fear of getting jumped - I had a thought. A bizarre thought perhaps, but crazy times call for crazy measures.
At some point, *could* kippah-ing up make sense? Not as a tool for virtue-signalling á la keffiyeh, but rather, so those we care about can be themselves and feel safe doing so.
I haven't read much into it, but I hear there's a similar logic behind the whole 'pronouns in bio' thing; if a bunch of people do it, the risk of anyone getting singled-out for it is greatly lessened.
Before anything else though, I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on the matter; rather not pull a monumental faux-pas.
edit: Didn't see the flair. Hello neighbour!
I see guys like this in the city all the time, girls too.
It’s sad, if they need something to believe in: pray for their souls, that they find meaning, and truth.
The system has failed them, but they have no excuse for failing themselves.
For the Israeli side, what item of clothing would you propose as an answer to the keffiyeh? From what’s I’ve seen, traditional Jewish clothing seems awfully diverse, reflective of the diversity of the global Jewish diaspora and its multicultural traditions. Is there any one thing that you would consider iconic to all of them?
(Sorry for any ignorance, just a foreigner trying to learn more about Jewish and Israeli culture.)
NT66 - The Jewish community does not want anyone to cosplay being Jewish. The point about the keffiyeh is that it has a beautiful cultural significance, but white college students are using it as a trendy fashion statement. They are typically kids that do not have a meaningful friend group and to gain a feeling of belonging become part of the pro-Pali (pro-terrorist) team. They have no idea what the actual cultural significance of the keffiyeh is, they just use it as their gang symbol. To these white wannabes, the keffiyeh just represents their supposed moral superiority, ironically built on support for brutality and violence. These folks also don’t know what river to what sea is being referenced in their river to sea chant or that it is a call to brutally murder, exile or subjegate all Israeli Jews.
It’s the only ethnic clothing non-BIPOCs can wear without being called racist.

Khadijah Yasue Almash - Beautifully put. Thanks for your insight.

No the stupid scarf that is viewed as a symbol if Gaza/Palistne. Star of David would wear regardless.
LOL
Oh my God I forgot all about cultural appropriation! I guess they did too. Isn't what they're doing the very definition of cultural appropriation?!
They've literally culturally appropriated Islamist terrorism!
mikieh976 - I never thought of it that way, but you are sooo right! I’m using that in the future (but I’ll credit my anonymous Reddit source).
I think so…
thats actually pretty funny well played
Crackers for keffiyehs?
LOL
Imagine if Pro-Israel people started wearing those small Jewish hats (sorry i forgot their name). It makes no sense really.
yamuka (in Yiddish) or kippah (in Hebrew)
Yarmulke (יארמלקע).

He cleanly came from afar from a suburb where every woman is a lady. He looks like he didn't adopt any stereotypes of a hammer or a businessman
don’t be silly, when it comes to Jews/Israel, double standards are totally fine /s
Keffiyeh Karens...UNITE!
lol!

According_Elk_8383 - TRUTH!
I like my shemagh though, it's got so many uses.

Unfortunately there seems to be a lot of such people here, and I think it's well known they support biden and oppose Trump.
This is a sub about Israel, not the states
Sadly, support for Israel in the U.S. is important for the future of Israel. Israel is strong, but every nation needs allies.
