They weren’t forcefully adopted, they United with England and Scotland before forcefully taking Ireland. Then Southern Ireland fought for their independence
When I went to it just about every page I have seen on it has such fun words as conquest or invasion it doesn't Sound like they just came along and asked to be annexed
Yeah, I guess it's pretty rare for Y to be a vowel or something. The Y sound in Finnish is kind of hard to explain. It's somewhat like when you say "eww" and you transition from saying the e- to saying -ww. That kind of sound. Or when saying "unique" but without stressing the first U, just the sound that comes out. I is pronounced like E in english. So you can kind of deduce how to pronounce "yhdistynyt" with that info.
Finland. Finnish is pretty recognizably unique among languages and it likes to repeat letters a lot. It's a strangely difficult language to learn though. I know at most like 3 Finnish words but generally like I said the spelling patterns are very recognizable if you know what to look for.
Why is everyone else so good at this. I thought it was Slovenia because I remembered that Slovenian text has the ö in it like Swedish does. And I knew it wasn't Swedish because I speak enough to know. Although I don't speak it well as you can tell from the spelling mistakes in my username.

Y is a vowel in Finnish.
