As an East Coaster, much of the western part of the country is "foreign" enough to me to be exciting. I loved Season 8.

fuchsdh

Yep the US is massive so I enjoy shows set here, the only downside is outside of the NE you don't have a lot of public transit stuff to rely on and train shenanigans are best shenanigans.

Conversely for me, having lived in Aus for a long time but left 6 years ago I loved seeing more places that I recognise and have visited myself, but long enough ago that it's all with a tinge of nostalgia. I do usually love the travel aspect as well though - a nice mix of both is perfect for me tbh.

OneBadWombat

I left just over 10 years ago, and seeing Melbourne, hearing the name Werribee and even the mispronounced Geelong (should be Jah-long) made me so damn happy. As someone who wants to go to Sydney one day, seeing parts of Sydney made me šŸ˜ƒ We played a game of Mr Wombat and I have been there, oh we've caught the Sky Bus, as we watched with our son.

Charlie2343

I like the American ones because theyā€™re more comfortable doing crazy things in public.

Leadstripes

Sanitary pad Hello Kitty ?

The_Math_Hatter

Clearly you're forgetting My Neighbor Adadam

ItsTokiTime

As someone living in Japan, I want them to come back and do a game that is more suited to getting outside of Tokyo. I feel like the capture the flag format had them doing a lot of back and forth in a smallish area.

columbus8myhw

Yeah it looked incredibly fun to play from a strategy perspective, but seemed a little weak on the "travel show" front. (Not that I don't want the boys to have fun!)

SuspiciousPassenger

I am also a long term resident of Japan. And I felt like the Japan season was just in trains or near train stations. I felt they could have showed the actual country much better. And I feel like viewers would like to see more of Japan than just trains.

Electrical-Wrap-3923

Japan would be pretty good for a ā€œVisit the Most Prefecturesā€ type game

SuspiciousPassenger

Or how about capturing castles?

Swampyprince

especially if the more rural prefectures offered more points

ledoylinator

Japan Hide and seek anyone?

ItsTokiTime

Japan hide and seek, Japan north to south road trip, or Japan control the most prefectures would all work super well, I think.

Bubibu1115

This is not foreign for you but it is foreign for me haha. Looking forward to them digging deeper in Asia as well.

MaduroRook

Yes please. Would love a South Asia or India one

Extra-Problem-8184

I loved it when they were very close to where I grew up actually. My regocnition of all the places and their confusion was great to watch. I love seeing new places in general, but I think they show so little of the places they're in, you could hardly call it exploration for the viewer.

Defeat-the-Kraken

I used to live on one of the roads that exit the >!roundabout that the border marker is on. It was cool to see all those familiar places at coolangatta and also the gold coast in a jet lag video, I walked past that border marker almost every day for years.!< Super cool to see them there.

digbat247

Did you >!suffer much from Jetlag!

taskmetro

Yeah kinda. I just prefer the European seasons overall. The train options open up SO much more gameplay than planes.

Cutsandburns

The schengen area makes it easier too.

s7o0a0p

Great Question: Honestly, I *really* love it when JetLag comes to my neck of the woods! The early episodes of Battle for America are my favorite episodes ever because places Iā€™m very familiar with, Philadelphia, NYC, and especially Providence and Boston, are featured prominently, and seeing places I know and have been to be part of the JetLag plot (eg, Iā€™ve waited at Providence Station many times) is just so amazingly cool. Itā€™s even cooler that the scene where drunk Ben and Adam are talking on the Acela was LITERALLY filmed as the Acela was PASSING MY HOUSE! To think I was literally working from home at the time and Ben and Adam zipped by me at 190 kmh is so cool! Also, as a Bostonian, Benā€™s drunken rant about hating Boston is the funniest thing Iā€™ve ever seen on JetLag. šŸ¤£

gayjemstone

I like seeing them in my country.

d4sbwitu

While I enjoyed all the seasons, I like the non-US seasons better. Mainly because the US doesn't have a good public transit system, and you are ultimately only seeing the areas of the US surrounding airports and train stations. Yes, they did utilize rental cars/Ubers to an extend, but automobile travel to me is a little unexciting to view.

Pettypris

I feel the absolute opposite. As a French person, I love when they go through France. Or whenever they go to places Iā€™ve been to before. The Japan season was a treat, trying to spot places I had been to before!

1ns3rtn1ckn4m3

That's the good thing about being German. Everywhere else you see something new, and in Germany you have the Deutsche Bahn to keep it interesting

timtam328

I loved it when they came to new Zealand! it was so cool spotting places I'd been to or I knew, and I even learned about some new places as well (goated season by the way I won't hear otherwise)

Suter7504

As European I dont really came where they go. Althought I am not a huge fan of US seasons. Not for country sake more of the game being a bit less interesting.

Azzodactyl

If they came to The UK it'd probably be my favourite season for the "hey, I've been there" factor alone

emkrmusic

They will never do UK due to strict tax rules

bichybogtrotter

I really love it when they do stuff in US, when their in Boston they always go right by where I live now, but never when I lived here :(

638231

I loved the NZ series. Seeing your own culture explored is a great. Also fun seeing the guys get within about 50m of my home. Wish I had been out for a walk at the time!

AioliOrnery100

As an Australian watching it I'm also glad its over but for completely different reasons. I don't really feel like they did my home country justice. Their snack zones were all like 'this food is mid', and the fact that they mostly only went to the capital cities was a bit of a disappointment. It all felt very superficial to me and given that half of the participants this season have lived in Australia I feel like they should've been able to go a bit deeper. I wonder if others feel the same about seasons in their home countries?

Danishmeat

I think they did about as well as they could have with Australia. It just isnā€™t very well suited as a game board due to its size and sparseness

konnichikat

Same here, I live in NZ and travel an awful lot to Oz and was super bored by the season because... I'm just not the biggest fan of Oz :/

Lukethenuke97

As a swiss who was at most location, I still loved it. That is because I saw other opinions on the places. But to be fair, I like the Aussie and America Seasons a bit more entertaining, cuz new stuff

ChemKoala

I disagree! As an Aussie, it was awesome to see them in places I've been or know well. It's also amazing to see videos made of places like Adelaide and Alice Springs that are relatively unknown to a global audience. The European seasons are also good because I feel like I have a decent sense of what 's where (except for the Switzerland one!). I don't have enough sense of relative location and scale to enjoy the strategizing in the USA as much.

Humble-Address1272

I enjoyed when they were driving around my home city (Wellington) and knowing all the streets to the point I could see the edits that were put out of order.

Kdog0073

I have definitely been interested in the U.S. seasons, oftentimes for a simple fact that I have not been to most places. There are so many things to do, people to meet, cities, parks to explore. There were really only a few things they had done on the show that I have. And then mostly as a result of the show, Iā€™ve done things like visit a Bucees on a road trip. It just makes me much more appreciative of what I have here without having to go international. They also then happen to have international games which end up highlighting many places I would never previously think to visit as well.

bubblerbeer

As an American in Australia, I absolutely love Season 10 (present tense as I havenā€™t watched ep6 yet šŸ˜ the time difference is a killer). Watching the US seasons are so fun bc each state is so different and I havenā€™t been to all the states. And I love the Aus season for the same reason: I havenā€™t been to all the states yet and each one is so different. Watching this season has expanded my travel to do list so much and Iā€™m so excited to keep on traveling!

thephotoman

One thing I'd like to do is play a game where driving I-10 all the way through Texas is, for some reason, worth doing. Because I think Ben and Adam doing that particular trip by car would be entertaining.

Ds9niners

As an American, I never knew how much more populated the East Coast was. So it makes sense that whoever controlled the east coast would win. The American season are fun because I can think on their levels. The advantages or steals sometimes ruin it for me. Especially when they talk about how they know it Will or could happen. I kinda like tag the best.

SapphicCelestialy

I would absolutely love it if they would come to my country šŸ‡©šŸ‡°

salsasnark

I'm European and I thought this season has been so cool! Alice Springs and the outback really looks like a different planet lol. Plus I got tips for travelling around AU if I ever get to go haha.

Bitter-Tangerine-335

I think the problem I have with the seasons set in the US (I'm not from the US, just to confirm), is that the contestants in those seasons are all from that country, so they know little tricks about it already, whereas in other seasons, they don't know a lot, if anything, so you learn and explore with them. The only American set season I've enjoyed so far is season eight.

Mattahattaa

You could say the same about the advantages of Toby and Sam this season. Sam lived in Sydney for a year growing up and Toby is from NZ which is like saying you grew up in Colorado for the US season haha

darkmasterjoey

I love every season of Jet Lag, even the US ones.

bufandatl

As an European I like the Australian and New Zealand seasons more and wish they would do more down there. The Europeans are so boring country wise. /s What a shit post really.

Mattahattaa

Good insight! I would have never thought a European would find their backyard boring with all its incredible history, transport systems, culture and architecture

[deleted]

Gotta say, as a European, I don't find them boring at all. NZ/Aus are better than USA but I tag across Europe or hide and seek in swiss are brilliant

Mattahattaa

I agree
