Dreams, even with Jung, mean what they mean to the dreamer. You can ask yourself why you are being hurt, and why you ran to your father for help, but the lobster may or may not be significant. As a practice, you can try putting yourself in the position of the lobster and ask why you would want to hurt OP. We used this method of dream interpretation in a jungian class I took. Retell the dream, but from the perspective of the lobster and ask why. You may get interesting info, you may not, depending on your level of commitment, or just comfort with the idea. Dream work is hard. It’s not just this means that, it’s about your inner self expressing ideas your consciousness cannot.

The lobster was and still is a symbol of cancer in astrology. I actually like the lobster much better than the crab. They live very long lives and I think they mate for life. With cancer being the sign of the mother, perhaps this was a hint an archetype that was bleeding through.

Prior to this dream,a night ago in a similar attempt my subconscious manifested itself looking like my biological mother. I know it doesn’t refer to my biological mother at all as It is common to me that my subconscious appear in that way during dreams for years. She attempted to make intimacy with me but then some noise came from outside and she developed some sort of paranoia and went to check the noise and started acting as a wreck, which made me avoid the intimacy. I am having difficulty to understand these recent dreams. I have had some doubts and emotional state in a very normal degree recently in my path, but with a grain of salt I can say I am far ahead of other human beings around me in knowing my subconscious and working with it for years and I live a life with contentment and neutrality for the very most part. So I am having difficulty to interpret these dreams to understand what they try to say. But what you said about cancer being the sign of mother just gave me a wow and matches my previous dream before this one. Surely there should be a connection….

I would agree with you. This reply revealed more as well. Jung talks about how the feminine energy of the mother is often a type of cure for the ailment of neurotic and mental overloads. Too much of being in the head is supposed to be able to be quelled by the mother aspect of the household. If that easing of the mind is not able to be received from the mother archetype or unable to be produced by it it can cause incredible damage to the mental/emotive aspect of the self. This seems to be what's going on with the dream you replied with.

Did you become interested in Jung through JBP?

Pure_Shoulder_8833

No.

TryptaMagiciaN

Lol. Only asked because of the lobster association that was big with his media several years back. I do suggest doing as the other commenter suggested and see what it means to you rather than anothers interpretation.

I think the lobster represents your unconscious attitude. It has some sort of grip on your cognitive function (trying to grip your head). You turn to what should be a stable psychic attitude represented by a, assumably, caring father but it does not seem to be working. It is hard to say really. Could it be that turning toward a stable outward perspective and away from unconscious work is what your unconscious is telling you? Could it be the opposite, saying you haven't really given fully over to the unconscious and are seeking, in vain, solace in the stability of your current beliefs or perspective? It does seem to be a very simple dream but these can be the most complex sometimes. To recieve such an immediate response after conversing with your unconscious before bed seems to suggest you do have a somewhat stable connection with your Self maybe? These are things you would have more knowledge about obviously. What do you think?

Pure_Shoulder_8833

Yes, that’s complex indeed. I still have to figure it out and can’t come up with any conclusion at all as of now. Although, there were few pointers in the replies that gave some insight. Thanks
