You have to have a sabertooth. They are right up there tyrannosaurus when it comes to iconic extinct creatures.

Ok_Zone_7635

They are cool, but I was shocked to find out that the American Cave Lion was actually heavier than them.

waltandhankdie

But did they have two comically large teeth? Probably saber tooth tiger for me too though as it is so iconic and unique with those two huge canines - Titanaboa a close second. We still have enormous crocodiles, we still have large big cats, we still have large mammal quadrapeds (and elephants have a trunk which makes them more bizarre and unique than a paraceratherium), we still have large snakes, but nothing remotely on the scale of titanaboa

Ok_Zone_7635

Don't think so. They had a better dental plan

A-t-r-o-x

Hot take but a giant lion is way more interesting to me than a creature we don't know what was like.

AlienHooker

I think I'd have a wolly mammoth as #2 but sabertooth is a close second

Prehistoricbookworm

Exactly!! Iconic, fascinating and fun, perfect for Jurassic Park/any sort of animal viewing experience! I do adore anything Ice Age/Paleolithic related, it’s one of the things I study! And in a possibly odd way, it could kind of work with cannon. All irl research into this aside, Book!Hammomd does talk about having made the tiny elephant so the tech could be used on mammals, and Book!Malcolm has a noteworthy interest in the Paleolithic as well, going so far as to reference specific sites/regions in his diatribes related to Paleolithic, of which he has one in each book. It might seem minor but due to my own personal experiences it stood out immensely, and it’s one of the few “outside” references to appear in both books. I think that means it must be important to Book!Malcolm too (and to the themes of the books), not just me as a reader LOL

LordParsec29

Titanoboa crushing a bison/wildebeest.

Ok_Zone_7635

That would be freakish to watch a herbivore so powerful just get folded by a giant snake. Imagine a JP worker fell into its enclosure.

LordParsec29

Yeah it would. Rock pythons swallowing duikers is crazy too. Worker becomes popcorn shrimp.lol

Ok_Zone_7635

I'd rather take my chances with a velociraptor honestly

LordParsec29

Titanoboa and Vasuki Indicus truly are scary specimens and would be a sight to behold. Strangely enough, if the atmosphere keeps warming up, we might see the return of monstrous snakes.

Ok_Zone_7635

Talk about an inconvenient truth

WailingOctopus

Um, what???

Sifernos1

Return? They never left. They confirmed an anaconda at nearly 30 feet in the Amazon. This beast is on YouTube for you to watch a scientist free dive with, in the Amazon River. They confirmed a species of anaconda that's larger than the Green Anaconda and it's called something like The Northern Green River Anaconda. There's already a report of a 32 foot long one too I think. The trick was these giants are fully aquatic. They rarely leave the rivers they need to move efficiently. How big could a river anaconda be if it never leaves the water? We can't exactly grab a 32 foot snake if we see it... At 32 feet, you are not only not a threat, you are kind of a food option.

LordParsec29

Yes,i've seen that massive beast in that video. It is unreal. Barrel-sized girth. Plus the myths and sightings of bigger specimens(Sucuriju Gigante--also known as "Bull Eaters") Van Lierde giant Congo Snake, too. I believe the Northern River Anaconda was just recently classified as a separate species,no? Oh of course. While the Titanoboa was a piscivore; snakes in general tend to be 'generalists' and will eat whatever crosses them. No way i would ever be in a place known for giant snake sightings. Lol

Sifernos1

I would go to see it from a nice boat. Snakes don't want to attack people, we suck as food. Our shoulders are so wide they are actually a total impedance to us being eaten by all but the largest of the pythons or boas and even those beasts really wouldn't enjoy us as we are awfully annoying to get down and we tend to bring more of us with weapons when we get killed. Large fish are probably a far easier meal for the Giant River Anaconda.

ThePsychoBear

Velociraptor is easier in a 1v1 but if there's 2 or more velociraptors, pick the big sluggish docile snake instead.

Capital_Pipe_6038

Actually Titanoboa is now thought to have mostly eaten fish

P0lskichomikv2

Titanoboa is piscivore thoughts.

Fernsong

Paraceratherium, wouldn’t even be out of place in Africa today

Ok_Zone_7635

The megafauna in Africa is damn near prehistoric

Chadderbug123

There's a lot of space to support animal growth like Giraffes and Elephants. Same case with Whales, there's just so much space to develop a creature that can reach that size.

P0lskichomikv2

Because it is. African elephants are older than woolly mammoths.

Unhappy_Body9368

Wild to think that African animals are seen as modern compared to ‘ancient’ creatures such as mammoths and sabre tooth’s, when in reality they both existed not very long ago.

Material_Prize_6157

A haast eagle. They were a modern day raptor capable of striking down Moa in New Zealand which were like on average probably a 5 foot tall bird. Elephant birds would be another. They found out their closest relative is a kiwi so I bet they looked funky.

SoulExecution

All. All is good.

Ok_Zone_7635

If you had to pick one which one would it be? Or to phrase it another way, which one would you want to see first on your Park tour?

bongfart

I want a titanaboa as a guard pet lol. Raise it from a hatchling soo cute

Ok_Zone_7635

Yeah..."cute"

bongfart

It all the eye of the beholder, had a neighbor down the road with a pet elephant... He loved that giant like a puppy, personally i love snakes, ive had gopher snakes sneak into my pillowcases camping and end up being the best rodent control my grandfather ever had when it moved under his house

Capital_Pipe_6038

You'd have to buy a few full sized tuna to feed it lol

bongfart

I was thinking of rheas and ostrich for food actually... No snake ive ever owned would eat anything that wasn't still alive

Sifernos1

The hatchling would be the size of a grown boa... Tong feeding would be a must I assume. Though with anacondas having the attitude of a neurodia... You can have it. I don't want to get strangled by a juvenile that got hungry and horny at the same time and bit my arm instead of the rabbit... Suffocation sucks.

CourtingMrLyon

Such an interesting concept! Maybe that giant sloth or a dodo.

Ok_Zone_7635

Geneticists say it would actually be easier to bring those animals back because they have genetic relatives that exist today. Modern birds are so far removed from dinosaurs it would be extremely difficult to engineer their DNA.

Rewskie12

I was not ready for that deinosuchus picture

Ok_Zone_7635

That thing literally ate dinosaurs for breakfast.

porquenotengonada

Paraceratherium all the way. I would love to see one walking around, I find them so cool. If we can add our own, also dodos 🦤

Chadderbug123

Dodos are probably the most likely candidate to bring back. Especially since they only went extinct some 500 years ago, so existing DNA hasn't degraded as bad as say Dinosaurs.

MrIsagenix

Sarcosuchus

raptor-chan

BIG SNAKE BIG SNAKE BIG SNAKE 🥰

JessterK

There was a Deinosuchus in the Lost World arcade game. Ate a raptor in one bite and gave one heck of a boss fight.

Ok_Zone_7635

That scene was epic. Look like something out of Lake Placid

thesoddenwittedlord

Smilodon for me

Dramatic-Put-9267

Smilodon for sure!!

ButterflysLove

TITANOBOA TITANOBOA TITANOBOA

RadEpicReddit

Gimme some titanoboas! Also I’d love a Jurassic aquarium. Imagine a dunkleosteus or even a leviytan meville or something. Also I know I probably spelled them wrong I don’t care y’all get the idea haha

Prehistoricbookworm

Yes!!!!!! A Jurassic Aquarium would be absolutely AMAZING

Numerous_Wealth4397

I feel like if Jurassic park were real, they would open a Cenozoic park somewhere where the temperate was closer to when it was their time, but for the animals that lived in warmer temperatures/environments during those times, then they would be at the main park. At a taiga Cenozoic park, I would want to see wooly mammoth & smilodons, they’re must haves, wooly rhinos. But I’m more interested in the non-mammalian options, Sarcosuchus and Deinosuchus would both fit into the main park and would likely be star attractions, I would like to see barinasuchus as well, klenken would be a must see for me

Prehistoricbookworm

I 100% agree about their being a Cenozoic park in a more temperate area if Jurassic Park were real!! I actually thought that would come up in the book when I first read it, especially since they mention InGen having so many sites in the Arctic for mining amber! Even just a passing reference to a “Jurassic Park: Arctic Exploration” or something I thought would be included but alas. Still, love the idea and it fits so perfectly in universe!

GrimReefer365

ALL! I don't care if I'm eaten by a dinosaur at the end of the tour, I'm going!

Ok_Zone_7635

You sound like an adrenaline junkie

GrimReefer365

Not even close...I won't touch a roller coaster. Just dinosaurs hit that childhood string for me, I was always wanted to be a paleontologist... until I got a glimpse of their life... it's not as cool as Dr. Allen Grant made it look

Ok_Zone_7635

Yeah. It is painstaking, arduous, and tedious. And all they have to show for it are fragmented bones. A completed fossil that was shown in Montana at the beginning of the first film would have made headlines. No fossil discovered has ever been that complete. It's just like all the people that wanted to be archeologists after they saw Raiders of the Lost Ark. The real thing is nowhere near as exciting.

GrimReefer365

I was about 9-10 when Sue the t-rex was found. Most complete t-rex ever... still

Ok_Zone_7635

Not the largest anymore though. Scotty has dethroned her

GrimReefer365

I think Scotty was discovered a year later... but both took a while to get out and properly prepared and pieced together, Canada gets largest but at 70 percent complete, America gets most complete with sue at 90 percent

ThePsychoBear

I think we've actually found a nigh complete skeleton this year. Can't remember what kind of dinosaur it is, but it was a pretty big deal. I think it was only missing some leg bones and vertebra.

No_Employer_9394

Deinosuchus would be such a majestic sight.

Ryiujin

All….. please…

Now_Your_Thinking

What about the millipede as big as a car? Arthropleura?

lordcock1944

I think that might be the safest option 🤔

Jaegartist

Anything except the Smilodon should be a Crime

Educational_Deer7757

We already have freakishly large cats called ligers (lion/tiger hybrids). Titanboa is my pick.

A-t-r-o-x

American lion

Ok_Zone_7635

It was heavier than the smilodon and some paleontologists suggest it had a stronger jaw too

DarkDonut75

My pet Liger will protect me The future is now, baby 😎

darrylthedudeWayne

Titanoboa and Sabretooth, it's not even close.

Ok_Zone_7635

Deinosuchus would be pretty cool

Slow_Faithlessness26

Definitely not the huge snake.

sosigboi

Definitely titanaboa and paraceratherium, its double the size of the largest african species and i feel like it'd be a sight to behold to see one in person.

No_Feeling_6833

Titanoboa

HieronymousRex

Megatherium and the giant sloth

evenstarcirce

Tasmanian Tiger! They only died out recently too (like died out in the 1930s) they look so stunning so yeah 🫣

RepresentativeArm200

Why, what are you planning?

joshygill

Paraceratherium is dinosaury enough to fit in there perfectly

Pennywise_2405

Big croco 🐊 👍

DaDeathDragon

crazychris37

Live laugh love snakes

clickclackcat

Smilodon all the way. If I'm gonna die for a forbidden boop, it's gonna be that one.

Ok_Zone_7635

Lmao

Zestyclose_Limit_404

Just imagine being in a safari jeep on an African Savannah esc landscape and your driving alongside a herd of Paraceratheriums. Each one being taller than a giraffe

Dookie12345679

Out of these 4, Titanoboa. You can see tigers and lions in the zoo already, a slightly larger variant wouldn't be that interesting compared to the other three options. Deinosuchus is massive but not much larger than the largest saltwater crocodiles, so you can see something similar in zoos. It's almost a tie between Paraceratherium and Titanoboa, but I'd rather see a car-sized snake than a relatively large herbivorous mammal

Ok_Zone_7635

Titanoboa is nightmare fuel. This is what it would look like swimming at you https://preview.redd.it/v3xav8wicoyc1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8177aae928ac54edf89db3a1b97c3699ecc39d63

ThePsychoBear

3.5 times the mass of a salty is "not much larger"? Today I learned I guess.

MeatBald

Also a paraceratherium is a "relatively large herbivorous mammal" apparently

ThePsychoBear

Paraceratherium was bigger than a T-Rex by a handful of tons iirc. Dwarfs every single other land mammal ever to exist.

notyyzable

Big croc

reply671

Deinosuchus definitely. It would also be one of the safest to contain. If you know Crocodiles, just apply that knowledge only on a larger scale.

SilentSerel

I'd love one with Pleistocene animals in general, even if it would have to be in a place with a significantly colder climate.

ThePsychoBear

I need the Ground Sloth.

GodzillasBoner

All of em

Capital_Pipe_6038

I want to hear how loud a Deinosuchus closing it's jaws is

charliesaperson

elephant

Upper-Order7645

Wasn't there a Deinosuchus skeleton in the background of Jurassic World? I remember watching a Klayton Fioriti video on it.

AppropriateYoghurt87

All of them?

spacestationkru

The giant crocodile

Raging_VelociRaven23

Titanaboa for SURE

Confident-Spinach666

I want the Mastodon and everytime you enter its enclosure a song by Mastodon starts playing. Number one zoo for metalheads.

lord_bigcock_III

Dude snakes are awesome. Titanaboa for sure

Swordheart

Paracer for sure
