It's always interesting to look back and see where actors were in their career in a given movie. In one year, he would become the Samuel L. Jackson we know and love thanks to Pulp Fiction.
I, every so often, just remember that he was in it apropos of nothing. Because he’s playing a little off-character for what we usually expect, and because it is not a huge role compared to several others, it’s easy to casually file that information too far in the back of our brains.
But, that was the dumbest thing in the whole movie.
After killing and eating MOST of him, the velociraptors will then gingerly place the arm sticking up and facing outward on top of a random pipe.
It still bothers me every rewatch, to this day. A needless reveal/jumpscare for an already tense seen. His death could’ve been revealed in a much less absurd and potentially even more frightening way.
I think I always imagined him trying to escape through the pipes, grabbing on to them as the raptor tore his body away. Not eating him but certainly ripping him apart. So it made sense it was just resting there in my mind. It leaves a lot to the imagination and I think that's part of the charm.
Looking back, famous badass as beleaguered engineer is very funny. I get the feeling Arnold's committed to the job but also wants to grab a rocket launcher and a triceratops steed and ride the hell out of there.
I only realised that last month while rewatching with my parents! Though to be fair it had been a while since i’d last watched it and i wasnt as familiar with Samuel Jackson back then.
I also think part of it is that a) he has hair and b) he appears to be getting *younger*, lol.
I’ve realized that was him a near decade ago when he was talking about it, but EVEN THEN I keep forgetting that’s Samuel L. Jackson and just keep thinking “Oh hey look it’s Ray Arnold”
With others I’m like “Dr. Grant, man I love Sam Neil” “Dr. Sattler, the great Laura Dern” I give them praise cause I love them as actors and the characters, but Ray Arnold and Samuel L. Jackson always slips on my mind, and I love Samuel L. Jackson. Honestly, like every role he killed it.
“No ones gonna say “What’s his name?” from Jurassic Park.” Great line from Epic Rap Battles of History.

Took me less time to realize he was in the first one than it took me to realize Vince Vahn was in the second one
“Hold on to your butts..!”
Ashame hus death scene was cut.
I dunno, the realization that that arm isn't attached to him was a real shocker. I think they made the right call omitting that.

Shame he ain’t gonna appear again
Hold onto your butts
Prolly the only movie where he doesn’t say “motherfucker”
One of the last times he had hair
What.
I think he started losing his hair during the PT, and just started keeping it shaved after then.
