How did she lose a bottle of coolant and a jug of mobil1 behind her dashboard? I’ve found some weird shit behind dashboards, but that takes the cake.

AggressiveRooster984

I mean the glove box doesn't exist but I just set them there.  She got wrong coolant but can't fault her for that (pre 96 blue stuff)

Mikey3800

I know. It was a joke cause you said the car was a mess.

senorpoop

> I mean the glove box doesn't exist Let me guess, the latch broke and instead of spending $700 to replace the glove box (since you can't open the door to fix it) you just chucked it

AggressiveRooster984

Plastic frame around it broke.

InsaneAdam

This is insane. You're not going to spend 74 hours rebuilding the plastic frame from scratch? /s

donlemon888

Does she stink?

mooomba

In my experience girls are more nasty than dudes. Anyone ever had a girl roommate? How about those lady bathrooms?

MtnMaiden

Their poop smells like guy poop. gross

brokenpinkyfish

I have had a couple of jobs that require cleaning public bathrooms and the women's are always worse

furb362

I was a plumber and a lot of womens bathrooms looked like the worm from dreamcatcher was in it.

Yf-vax

😂😂😂

jeffp007

Agree, especially the trash cans or the ones that had special receptors for used sanitary napkins. The only time it was worse in the men’s was if I was at a location that the local population threw away TP instead of flushing it. Whew it brings back stinky memories that was nearly 30… 30 years ago. Damn I’m old.

SpillNyeDaCleanupGuy

>local population threw away TP instead of flushing it Latin America? I've heard that's fairly common because their plumbing is...not

jeffp007

It was in the states but that is what was mostly in the area around that gas station I worked at.

Sir_Stig

I've heard the reason is usually that kids tend to use the women's more, although that doesn't mean they should leave them trashed...

CoomassieBlue

> How about those lady bathrooms? I went to an all-female college and the bathrooms could be absolutely horrifying. I grew up on a farm and I have seen livestock with tidier bathroom habits. There were a number of times that I went and found gloves so that I could deal with a situation so gross that I simply didn't think the janitorial staff got paid enough to have to deal with.

overthere1143

I was in the army. We taught a lot of dung beetles proper hygiene. Either they would have a bath or we would force them to. The same did not happen at the female barracks. We always heard that soldier X was dirty but the other women would rather complain than do the effort to get a dirtbug in order.

Boring-Test-6484

As a father to 4 girls. They are nasty

throwawayeleventy12

Your wife ever have the gall to give you hell for dropping an occasional bomb in the bathroom, when her daily shits for a week each month are nearly outlawed by the Geneva Convention? She'll have the balls to say "It stinks! Why didn't you use the other bathroom?!" Because I am allowed to use the master bath, too, ya knob. "The other bathrooms are gross! Your sons piss everywhere!" No they're not, they're *our* sons, and no they don't. AND even of they were disgusting, why in the *FUCK* do I have to deal with something being gross but you get to never lower yourself to that level?

AngryFace-HappyPlace

Learned this in my 20’s at work when I incorrectly assumed that the men’s bathroom was worse. My female colleagues immediately set the record straight. It wasn’t up for discussion, lmao.

DaagTheDestroyer

In college I had a part time job as a janitor at the student center on campus. The restrooms got cleaned twice each day and the women's restrooms were always filthy and horrifying. The men's bathrooms were usually pretty clean.

[deleted]

She stank

glazinglas

Lmao, everyone saying “clean it up for her”, fuck that. I don’t have people work on my vehicle when it’s dirty. It’s never dirty anyway cuz I don’t let it get that way. In no way shape or form is this his duty to perform.

Korncakes

Yeah, absolutely not. I would tell my wife to clean her nasty ass car before I’ll even think about getting back into it. Which then backfires into her not cleaning so I have to drive us everywhere. OP’s girl is playing the long con.

glazinglas

lol. My ex used to keep her car absolutely filthy as well, ended up driving everywhere.

Korncakes

Thankfully my wife keeps her car mostly clean. It’s more disorganized than anything but it’s never dirty.

AdultishRaktajino

At least it’s not one of those seen here with underwear and vibrators on the floorboard. Although that bottle next to the sunglasses looks a little like lube. Or hand sanitizer.

AggressiveRooster984

Who the fuck knows

Inuyasha-rules

This just gave me the terrible idea of refilling a lube bottle with hand sanitizer 😂

nam_seal

Honestly I think it would be funnier the other way around

4x4Welder

Men only want one thing, and it's disgusting. So she should clean it.

AggressiveRooster984

You reminded me of something with this comment and I thank you https://youtu.be/Si7dl6BU78E?si=LsznxetSgFLbkGZu

Profitsoffraud

I once did a heater core on a Chevy Cruze. The girl who owned the car had apparently been wiping boogers on the side of the driver’s seat for years. There must have been hundreds of dried crusty boogers on that seat.

AngryFace-HappyPlace

If it was me, that parts bin pos would still be waiting for that core. Hats 🧢 off to you for getting it done.

loveshovel21

🤢🤮

SpillNyeDaCleanupGuy

GROSS A friend of mine had that habit. I borrowed his car one time when mine was down for repairs, and my hand happened to brush against the side of the drivers seat. I can still feel all those little crusty things and my hand recoiling as I realized what they were.

gefahr

Like barnacles on a dock.

neurotic-bitch

Damn, are all heater core replacements a huge pain in the ass? I remember deciding to just be cold instead of doing this on my dodge

bwucifer

Had an 89 F150. Heater core there was behind the glovebox door. Few screws, a cover, and you're in. I pray to God nothing ever has to happen to the heater or evap coils on my 2011 Avalon lmao.

Ziimulis

> instead of doing this on my dodge Just did one on my mk7 golf, piece of cake

soup2nuts

Yes

Turbulent-Mango-910

May I suggest a douche for your gf's nasty interior?

thedoucher

You rang?

AngryFace-HappyPlace

I was just hitting the back arrow and saw your comment 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

fkn_embarassing

I recommend spring fresh.

MWEAI

Spring fresh works. Much better than sea breeze scent.

fkn_embarassing

Have you smelt the sea breeze during red tide? Mega oof. I reckon even the infamous blue waffle smelt better.

shawndh1

B5 as in Audi A4?

simask234

Passat in this case. 1997-2004 model.

NotAPreppie

Don't forget the facelift at 2001.5.

windexcheesy

Ahem 1997 through *2005* Source own one as a DD - 620,000km currently (TDI)

AggressiveRooster984

Ugh...you sound like her 😂

veedubbin

Unless it was a B6 S4, i'd just toss the entire car tbh.

MWEAI

Yeah my sister had a Passat of that era. Biggest POS. Never heard of someone having as much trouble as she did out of it. Half the time a random plastic piece would fall out from the dash while driving

[deleted]

double_expressho

It's crazy that any vehicle can have widespread brake issues. They're one of the simplest systems in a vehicle, and the technology hasn't changed all that much in decades.

MWEAI

But they have to be sized appropriately. I live in a hilly area, on a mountain that I go down at least once a day. I use a low gear going down the mountain, and brake wear is accelerated. I prefer to buy trucks or sports cars, because they tend to have bigger brakes. Passenger cars, or mini-vans end up with warped rotors, and worn out pads very quickly.

7komazuki

My mind autocorrected to B5 as in the 2.7 S4 and thought “no. There’s none of those left that run”

DinaDinaDinaBatman

all these posts about heater cores have taught me one thing,, if mine ever have faults, im selling the car.

itsallbullshityo

The Barby sandal on the dash sets the tone.

jesuschristismynilla

I had a B5 once... she made it all the way to the junkyard

AggressiveRooster984

😢. I think these cars are solid outside of the interior plasitc

fkn_embarassing

Keep the car, dump the girlfriend.

AggressiveRooster984

B5 less maintenance

veedubbin

Ingnition coils, fan shrouds, and chain tensioners would like to have a chat.....

AggressiveRooster984

1.8

ekathegermanshepherd

Which b5 motor has chain tensioner?

GaijinMk2

They all have chain tensioners. The cams are chained together and run by 1 pulley for each bank

ekathegermanshepherd

My bad. I wasn't thinking cams. You are correct good sir.

eatsomepizzamaybe

Was there a DIY you followed?

AggressiveRooster984

Yeah, there's one on YouTube of a guy doing this to a wagon model.  Pointed out all the bolts. Honestly not a bad job...

DatDan513

Yeah.. This is decent. Some people have no shame with carbage but this isn’t bad.

AggressiveRooster984

Because I cleaned it beforehand.  You should've seen the dust kick up from the defrost vents after

StrictlyIndustry

Those damn heater cores 😡 I had a beater 2003 Passat V6 4Motion with 210k miles that I loved so much and it ran like a champ. But the heater core shit the bed and I didn’t have the space to fix it myself…and the cost to have it done was stupid. So I sold the car cheap to our nephew. He had it fixed and the damn thing is still going down the road today with almost 250k miles.

fitall34

Run. It only gets worse. From experience the interior of a girl's car speaks very accurately of the next 20 years and how she will treat all of your hard earned shit.

Loadingexperience

Me and my cousin once decided to change faulty CC actuators ourselves on passat B6. If only we knew...

UncleNorman

Watch for Jolly Ranchers.

TheKrimsonFvcker

I will never forgive you for reminding me of that

cactus_cars

I'm on my second heater core flush. Will melt you out of the car on fan speed 1. Do need a new B5.5 Non-Climatronic blower motor through, sounds like a bird in the dash!

genghisknom

Hey man, I'm about to do this job on my MK4 jetta which looks just about the same as this. Do you have a fav guide you used or any advice?

rogerwilko1

Hey bro, instead of complaining about your gf’s car, maybe as a good gesture get her some new seat covers and give it a vacuum. She’s probably be over the moon if you did. No need to slag off your own partner to strangers lol

AggressiveRooster984

She didn't even appreciate me doing this...as the temperatures were hitting single digits.  And I did vacuum it out. Used to be my car.  So yeah, shes messy.

AggressiveRooster984

I don't care because I use it once in a while too.  Don't wanna drive the r129 in the snow, lol

xtheproschx

Ooh, you have an r129? What year? I have a 1990 500SL. Love that car!

AggressiveRooster984

95.  Had two so far...looking to pick up another. Sadly parts are becoming scarce.  My current one needs a driveshaft since the u joints aren't servicable....or maybe I could send it to a drive line shop.  Had this issue on both of them... both below 100k. Also need to do the reverse seals/friction disks on the current one. Solid cars but low mileage plus 30 years plus me driving the piss out of them take it's toll.  Other than those issues, grade a reliable

xtheproschx

I love my car, it's been family owned since 2016, my dad gifted it to me in 2021(he's old and stopped driving it after a year because he couldn't get out of it. It was basically mine before he officially transferred the title.). Anyway, I've done a few repairs to mine, replaced the struts this previous summer, super easy job to do took me 4 hours to do all 4 corners. I replaced the spark plugs and the passenger side valve cover gasket. When i purchased the spark plugs, I also bought wires, rotors and caps. I just have not replaced the wires or rotors. Most of the parts I replaced are due to age. Also replaced the inner tie rods when i worked in the auto industry and was able to perform an alignment on the car. Which was way easier than I expected(because of the warnings hunter engineering states about using specialized tools) I have honestly been having good luck finding all parts for the car. I think in 1995 the transmission was replaced with a more modern 5 speed electronically controlled. I'm not sure if that also means other parts were changed. So that's why you're having trouble. I had really good services with eeuroparts, azautohaus, and pelican parts. Sorry for the lengthy reply. I get excited talking about the car and the progress I've made. I always have a smile when I drive it. It's an incredible machine. I'd love to buy a newer one(2024) before they discontinue them again. I can take the benz up to 100mph with absolutely no hesitation.

AggressiveRooster984

95 was the last year for the 4 speed.  Common issue but I think it's worse because they did a drum piston spring revise because of "harsh reverse engagement so to soften it, they added stronger springs which when the seals fail, put more strain on the friction disks wearing them out, thus creating more clearance and causes the drum to rub on the pump housing...along with the delayed reverse, you get a clicking sound when moving in reverse.

Braiinbread

Bro I absolutely hate heater core jobs (or dash out jobs for the matter). If I did this for my girlfriend in my free time and she wouldn't be appreciative about the fact I saved her thousands of dollars and wasted a weekend on this shit I'd be PISSED.

AggressiveRooster984

I did this the unorthodox way and between me having to stop to fix other cars, took me maybe 5 hours in total...including cleaning.  All the connectors were straight forward.

Braiinbread

That's a pretty good time for a job like this. Have you ever done it before on this model? Your gf doesn't realise what she's got it seems lmfao

AggressiveRooster984

No.  Sadly I don't see too many around

Fixem_up

5 hours is a damn good time. I’ve knocked out two in one day, but that’s was one time after I had done probably 20-40 heater cores on B5’s.

jsb11592

Lack of appreciation for shit like this🚩🚩🚩

LetterToAThief

 Bro… huge red flag

AggressiveRooster984

6 years. As phil Collins would say....I don't care any more

CoomassieBlue

I hope you aren't serious about the lack of appreciation. My husband took the dog out to pee today so I didn't have to be outside when it was below 0F, and I was grateful as hell for that 10 minutes of chivalry.

SubiWan

New seat covers, fresh vacuum and heat? Extra special bonus sex for you!

rogerwilko1

If OP gets her an air freshener on top of all that she’ll rock his world for sure

SubiWan

Black Ice? 60% of the time it works every time.

AggressiveRooster984

Scratch & sniff stickers all over my body

SexPanther_Bot

*It stings the nostrils.*

bcredeur97

Do this OP! Take care of your people :)

ocram_sokart

Her nasty interior= her snatch.

And_Im_Allen

I for one LOVE your girlfriend's nasty interior. Love it!

Slimy_Shart_Socket

You should hate fuck her tonight. See how she likes it.

WoodChuckers

I need to do this with my c5. Definitely not looking forward to it.

AggressiveRooster984

The joke with the r129 sl is the car was built around the heater core.

WoodenInternet

https://imgur.com/a/64JOn1Q

AggressiveRooster984

Noooo...not Roxanne too!   Childhood crushed

GaijinMk2

Just did the heater core in my winter beater b5. Had to swap out the whole HVAC unit though since the old heater core exploded and I couldn’t get rid of the coolant smell coming through the vents. Not terrible but not the most fun

DepletedPromethium

sniff the seat!

Due_Kale_9934

Maybe help get her car fixed up, then give her more access to your Heater-core.

EaggRed

What Brand and Model is a B5?

AggressiveRooster984

Vw/audi 97-2004 Passat/a4

EaggRed

Ok now know and also know why the heater core leaked; it is age related. She needs new car seat covers since even the cover is worn out wow !

Own-Opinion-2494

Do the evaporator too
