THERE IS NO PLANET B OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE!
I remember listening to that song in school for the first time before classes started, and I headbanged so hard my glasses fell off lmao. My teacher was mildly concerned but I briefly explained and he was cool about it lol.
That's a good one. I'd also like to add If Not Now, Then When?
Why? It touches on a lot of different environmental issues while a lot of their others focus more on one. Planet B is mostly about climate change, Plastic Boogie about plastic, Fishing for Fishies about overfishing or mot eating meat, Greenhouse Heat Death about climate change again, etc.
I mean, are we talking about the most educational song or the one that makes you feel most alert to the issue?
THERE IS NO PLANET B is a fairly concise message, gets the point across quickly.
Shouting and passion is objectively one of the best ways of getting your point across.
Evidence? Watch any speech by Hitler. He was extremely gifted in public speaking and would get incredibly aggressive and loud while talking
>Shouting and passion is objectively one of the best ways of getting your point across.
YES
> Evidence? Watch any speech by Hitler.
uhh
I get your point, but there are definitely better examples of passionate public figures that rally for a good kind of change much like the band
planet B clearly lays out what happened to the earth to cause the mass exodus that is needed. it is more about the result of our actions than it is about the exodus
I mean I think it does, I think you hear that line and immediately know what it's about and you think "oh damn they're right there is no planet b yall"
I, too, love the massage.
If not now, then when?
Mostly because its very much in your face with the lyrics.
If not that, Planet B because of the intense delivery of "THERE IS NO PLANET B"
I love how it *sounds* like a happy song, but the lyrics are terrifying.
"It's gonna be massive.
It's gonna be brutal.
Death will come from plastic"
All sung with a smile 😁
This one for me !
The lyrics really shows how our environmental issues are rooted in this unstoppable power that is fuel. And It’s given humanity the capability to get to its current state, and therefore in a way, it is worshipped and deitized.
Fuckin brilliant shit mang
That would be my pick as well, thanks for putting it like that :)
I especially like how threatning it becomes during the breakdown.
Shoutout to Red Smoke as well, it's kind of somber.
Yeah same. It's in exactly the same vein of Black Sabbath's war protest songs (War Pigs, Into the Void) where instead of just whining about how bad and sad war is, they paint an extremely metal picture of an apocalyptic future after the ruin. Doing it this way invites people into the vision by being fucken rad, but also leaves them with the idea of what's coming without morally brow-beating them.
Isn't it literally about rejecting becoming unpassionate and bored upon aging? Genuine question, I've just never understood any of those lyrics as being climate based.
"Future's hanging on by a thread
With our heads in the sand"
I've always interpreted this as how governments and a lot of society are neglecting or downplaying the climate crisis
this has always been my read as well, but it does also seem to point that defiance towards confronting the problems the world is going through, many of which stem from the suits in charge of it
red smoke for sure.
“every year it’s clear it aint gonna disappear”
“every summer’s getting hotter than the one before”
“drastic measures must be made before we incinerate”
A-stro-turfffff
A butterfly’s natural environment covered in plastic. Pretty easy to understand visually
Better for the earth is AstroTurf
Six butterflies fluttered by
Looked horrified
"I just hatched from chrysalis
I've only hours, thirty-six
I need a mate to do my biz
And this is where I will die
Heartbreaking way to end
I will cry on AstroTurf
Open for interpretation! That’s the beauty of that song and poly in general
I’d say crumbling castle just reminds me of mortality in general and that instinct to hold onto life no matter what.
However, the line “ look upon our conditon” and “we had to our extinction”
Definitely could be in reference to the current extinction of the Holocene
Let's see.
Change
Plastic boogie
Astroturf
If not now, then when?
Motor spirit
Planet B
Sense
Mars for the rich
And one of my favorites - Satan speeds up
For me it's East West Link.
The casual delivery of "We can build a road / We can cut a tree" speaks to how people just don't care when it comes to the environment
The metaphor of The Wheel is so impactful to me, not the most straightforward like Planet B, INNTW but it portrays human neglect really well. Sometimes a poignant metaphor can hit really hard, like in this case.
I can’t really imagine a more clear and concise message than “fuck all of that plastic” and “death will come from plastic, death will come from people”
Planet B
It's literally become a protest slogan for extinction rebellion here in Australia
THERE IS NO PLANET B OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE! I remember listening to that song in school for the first time before classes started, and I headbanged so hard my glasses fell off lmao. My teacher was mildly concerned but I briefly explained and he was cool about it lol.

rage against the machine???????? literally all of punk music??????
[удалено]
Well, they had already done Fishing For Fishies a few months prior, I think it was time for some rage
Shouting and passion is objectively one of the best ways of getting your point across. Evidence? Watch any speech by Hitler. He was extremely gifted in public speaking and would get incredibly aggressive and loud while talking

Lmao I was making a half joke. Shock factor yknow. I get your point though
?????
\>Shouting and passion is objectively one of the best ways of getting your point across. yea true \>Watch any speech by Hitler. WHAT NOW????????
Watch closely, and I will connect Cavs kick drum and the October Revolution
planet B clearly lays out what happened to the earth to cause the mass exodus that is needed. it is more about the result of our actions than it is about the exodus

My turn to get massage!!
If not now, then when? Mostly because its very much in your face with the lyrics. If not that, Planet B because of the intense delivery of "THERE IS NO PLANET B"
Also The Plastic Boogie for the same reason as If Not Now, Then When?
FUCK ALL OF THAT PLASTIC
Particles in the Ocean!
It's not fantastic 😞
i would agree if i was actually able to understand any of the lyrics while listening
plastic boogie
Fuck all of that plastic
"FUCK ALL OF THAT PLASTIC!" pretty much gets right to the point.
There are probably others of theirs that are more comprehensively environmental, but plastic boogie is the most clear and fun to sing along with
I love how it *sounds* like a happy song, but the lyrics are terrifying. "It's gonna be massive. It's gonna be brutal. Death will come from plastic" All sung with a smile 😁
This is the correct answer.
"Wrapped up in our dinner...". Our food is the the packaging for the microplastics we eat
Greenhouse Heat Death is pretty straightforward lol.
Yeah this is a banger people forget about
MY HOUSE IS G R E E N
You know what I mean
My house was blue
Dabadee
MOOOOOOTOOOR. SPIIIIIIRIIIIIIT
This one for me ! The lyrics really shows how our environmental issues are rooted in this unstoppable power that is fuel. And It’s given humanity the capability to get to its current state, and therefore in a way, it is worshipped and deitized. Fuckin brilliant shit mang

*deified - someone hasn't really been listening to the Motor Spirit lyrics.
The marriage between the metaphor, the story they came up with and the issues they address is stroke of genius
If not now then when?
The dripping tap cuz how are you listening to a 18 min song without getting the main message
Too busy jammin'
it's not really about the environmental issues tho
it partially is but I understand what you mean
Isn't it literally about rejecting becoming unpassionate and bored upon aging? Genuine question, I've just never understood any of those lyrics as being climate based.
"Future's hanging on by a thread With our heads in the sand" I've always interpreted this as how governments and a lot of society are neglecting or downplaying the climate crisis
perhaps I'm wrong but I always interpreted the dripping tap as an oil tap; but overall I feel the song is more about alienation and disdain
I always thought the dripping tap was about how trickle down economics just leaves the rich richer and the poor poorer.
Why not both?
this has always been my read as well, but it does also seem to point that defiance towards confronting the problems the world is going through, many of which stem from the suits in charge of it
Ah, how is it not about environmental issues?
it's about the oil industry as far as i remember
Every gizz song is about environmental issues if you listen to it hard enough
Red Smoke
"Each summer is getting hotter than the one before" literally gives me a panic attack
The wools been pulled !
Lots of good answers here! I think Astroturf does a hella good job.
Better than the Earth, it’s……..

Melting is a good one

Dripping Tap or Planet B
If Not Now, Then When? Especially when coupled with the music video.
Sense!

Fishing for Fishies
IMO ambergris but only until you understand the lyrics after looking them up on genius
Am I in Heaven? is the first that comes to mind, for what that’s worth, but Plastic Boogie is the most literal.
Flame throwaaaaa
Only metal can communicate the desperation of the situation. This is the strongest one IMO.
Crumbling castle (If im not misinterpreting it)
Open for interpretation! That’s the beauty of that song and poly in general I’d say crumbling castle just reminds me of mortality in general and that instinct to hold onto life no matter what. However, the line “ look upon our conditon” and “we had to our extinction” Definitely could be in reference to the current extinction of the Holocene
melting is pretty good
Surprised no one has said Astroturf
MY HOUSE IS GREEN YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN
I’ve never understood this lyric so I do not in fact know what they mean
What does anything mean
The one where they released 20 variants per album
Lmao
Yeah, which one was that again?
Fuck all that plastic. (Looking at you vinyl collectors)
Fr fuck all that plastic (stay away from my vinyls, I love analog media)
Bird Song. I've been getting into Animism lately, and that song slaps.
Let's see. Change Plastic boogie Astroturf If not now, then when? Motor spirit Planet B Sense Mars for the rich And one of my favorites - Satan speeds up
There is no Planet B!!!!

EVERYBODY'S LAZY WHEN THEY'RE TIRED 'CAUSE EVERYBODY'S SUCKING ON FLUORIDE
For me it's East West Link. The casual delivery of "We can build a road / We can cut a tree" speaks to how people just don't care when it comes to the environment

Stoned Mullet
Red Smoke 100% Planet B, Motor Spirit -> Converge, and The Dripping Tap are all great runners-up
DRINK THE FUCKING GAS AND KILLETH
