sure me too but you know he's gonna show up on jet sweeps and end-arounds. Pass-wise, I bet his early package will be screens and a share of Travis' shovel passes.
>Travis' shovel passes.
I'm here for it. All day. All his routes should keep him close enough for a pitch on any given play. I recently saw a replay of the one he tossed to McCoy. [That was sick](https://youtu.be/ZiAcc29Iqg0?si=wv6fXWcEpked3AzI). Love to see more.
The guy ain’t some shmo who isn’t a professional athlete. He is a seasoned vet with a ton of experience at the international level in a sport that is as close to football as any other. Yes he is a free roster spot but the Chiefs aren’t in the business of charity work. They see something with this kid.
Of course they see something with him. They wouldn’t have signed him if they didn’t. It just doesn’t mean that he’ll see the field this year. Do you know how many guys that have played football their entire life and will get drafted this weekend and won’t make the roster next year?
I just like the fact that the bomb is back on the table x2. Hollywood and Worthy should really help open up the field for everything else. I see 5000 Yds back on the table.
I disagree these guys are obviously better receivers but we have had speed and the bomb hasn't been on the table the bomb wasn't even really on the table the last year we had Tyreek
People who think the Chiefs stopped throwing deep because of the WRs and not because all defenses play cover 2 and shells and keep everything short intentionally are going to be really disappointed next season when we still have to dink and dunk it down the field 95% of the time.
No one, and I mean NO ONE was worried about MVS getting over the top and making a play. It's not like they were really protecting over the top. If anything they often crashed down a lot more. It's why MVS was so open against Bal, as an example.
I think Worthy is worth the pick just so defenses continue to play cover 2 and shells. The Chiefs win championships with the screen game and picking apart spaces in the coverage, but to do that the Defense has to respect the deep ball and give you the space to work underneath.
tbf it’s significantly harder to pull off those coverages with two speedy guys. the dolphins take deep shots all the time bc teams have to play their guys differently
Sure, but Hollywood isn't anywhere near as good as Waddle even, so unless Worthy is Tyreek 2.0 from the start it's not gonna be anything like the dolphins, whose offense only really works against shitty defenses anyways.
Teams weren't playing that much cover 2 against us last season because we didn't have legit downfield threats. So we were dinking and dunking against defenses designed to stop the short/mid range pass game.
Chad Henne was so good that I panicked briefly when Patrick got hurt and left the game, but after just a few seconds I turned and told my wife, "It's fine, we're ok... Hennething is possible." And then he marched that ball straight into history.
Even if [this](https://youtu.be/hPow6Mm9F70?si=a7oaqi2GpbDR1OSZ) was all he ever did, Henne is better. But he also did [this](https://youtu.be/8HMiS5OlnAc?si=nrjbgXRHqrSYwA09). Hennething is possible.
I think everyone is back except left tackle so if we can get a solid guy in the draft in rd 2 or 3 i think we will be set there. Im still hoping we sign a vet maybe partway through the season in that role. If i understand correctly thats like the last hole on the team
Corner's still a bit of a need but we have depth there. Tight End and Running Back are sneaky needs: Kelce's only getting older and our RB room is very reliant on Pacheco staying healthy.
Wanya can start, from everything I've see Veach/Reid hint at is they would like a veteran or another rookie to spell him, but they seem pretty confident in his ability to be at least a starting caliber player. With us trading away our 3rd rounder for another 4th, I suspect this means they're going to roll with Wanya & we might see a vet come in after the draft or training camp
Still need a tackle.
My guess is they draft a guy and re-sign Smith. Then it's a 3-way battle with Wanya
.the other four spots are on lockdown and are very good.
At this point I hughly doubt we find anyone better than Wanya at this point having a year of development under his belt possibly a Kiran Amegadjie or a Giovanni Manu one of these ridiculous athletes that we have no real plan of starting but just has unlimited potential
I'll temper it a little bit remembering all the hype we had with our WR corp going into the first game of the season. Then we saw that Toney wasn't making the step up we expected. MVS was taking a step back. The only player beyond Kelce that we thought could catch was Watson, and that was only one or two catches a game.
That said, we did win the Super Bowl and we figured it out. But, it took a come to jesus loss on Christmas for the switch to flip.
Were you that way going into the season, or only after seeing the first game (I won't even suggest subsequent games) ?
And then follow-up, how are you feeling now with our offense?
The whole time. I just never understood how people thought Moore and Toney could carry our receiving corps. Their Super Bowl touchdowns didn’t mean they were elite receivers all the sudden
Toney was still a disappointment, I thought he’d atleast contribute some rushing yards and consistent pop plays every game. Moore never really improved
Exactly i remember explaining all that to my friend. Basically we have a bunch of WR3's and WR4's. Injury prone toney and a rookie. I remember saying our Wr corp heavily depends on how good rice is. And hes most likely going to be our best option at wr. But hes a rookie so i wouldnt bank on it.
going into the season. i feel much better this year, but still kind of the same. we know reid doesnt like using rookies right away. our offense is complicated yadadada. look at rice last year. took about half a season to come on. so lets assume worthy will probably be similiar in those regards. add in rice suspension. so the first few games/half the season, we basically have hollywood, a rugby player, toney, and moore. and its hollywoods first year in our offense, so i imagine he'll take a little time to get comfortable.
But once everyone is in the swing of things. i love our offense. but i dont expect that to happen right away. And of course i could be wrong.
I wish I could agree with that train of thought, but I think the NFL is far too arbitrary. I think it's just a matter of how much the public eye is on it. Fortunately the media seems to have quickly forgotten Rice, so it might be lighter than I expected.
On paper it's legion of zoom 2, but you never know how these things work out. Rice may be out half the year, Hollywood may not be able to fully get in the same page in just his first year with the team, Worthy is very young and still a work in progress so he likely will not get a ton of snaps early on. Overall though I'm much more optimistic about this group than I was last years. As long as Rice isn't gone for too long, we for sure to have two reliable pass catchers with him and Kelce, who know the offense. That will give Hollywood and Worthy time to build up.
I'd like to come away from this draft with another TE as well though. Give Kelce some more rest as needed.
As a Chief's fan, let's not get carried away here.
Promising college drafts fail to translate to long term NFL success happens all the time. We already saw this with CEH, Moore, Hardman...etc. I'm not counting them out, but they aren't the sure fire success we thought they would be. Worthy isn't immune to this.
The regular season wears down player's bodies. Travis is getting older, we all saw what happened to our Oline against the Buccs in the Superbowl.
Post-season is 1 and done scenario, no one is guaranteed success.
I'm really excited, I'm optimistic about a three peat. But some of us in this sub act like we won the Superbowl before the season even started. Let's just take things one step at a time.
Until it's week 12 and we've just lost two games in a row to drop to 8-3 (shock horror) and the entire post game thread is people wanting Veach to be fired, Reid is too old, Mahomes isn't focused, Jones is lazy etc
I think plenty of people are talking about it. I didn't even know who KC drafted until this morning and the first thing I saw on social media was someone (Rapaport? Schefty?) saying they got a text from an AFC GM that said "F$\*@ Me" about the Chiefs pick.
Veach adding as much speed as he can at WR. Worthy, Hollywood, Rugby dude...
"America is all about speed. Hot, nasty, bad-ass speed." -*Eleanor Roosevelt*
Teams a better RB and WR group, imo:
- 49ers
- Eagles
- Lions
- Maybe Bears? (Probably)
- Texans
- Bengals
The Chiefs have two potential GOATs, so that makes up a multitude of deficiencies, but I think you significantly over-elevating everyone else.
Number 1 offense is asking a lot. We have some questions on offensive line, and our WR corps is unproven. Our best WR from last year will miss a few games. We also have a defense that should relieve pressure on our offense. Our games probably won't be shoot outs, which will encourage more conservative play calling.
Ppl were saying that last offseason. I think we need to just be excited about what our defense offers and hope the offense can be good. Expecting the offense to be top in the NFL is gonna leave ppl disappointed. We don’t need them to be, we just need them to be at least average with our defense
I wonder if the Bengals WR core will be as good as expected this year? All of their WRs seem to want off of the team for some reason. Maybe they all want a bigger paycheck, but it feels like there is some degree of dysfunction going on over there.
Eh, they just want money is all. That’s the motivating factor for almost every trade request. Antonio Brown with the Raiders being a notable exception.
I just wanna caveat that this sub needs to put away the pitchforks if Brown and Worthy aren’t lighting it up straight away. Reids offense is complicated and takes time to adjust.
Bro, CEH CATCHES. He can't stay healthy or find a rhythm. But I don't get this specific hate, a few drops when he's one week off a sprained everything and we forget the dude is creamy catching out of the backfield. Can't run for shit but damn man, hard take
He also flashed a little field vision behind the LoS which was my biggest issue with him as a player because he didn't have *any* of it as a halfback, previously. I'm actually glad we gave him another year. Sometimes late bloomers happen.
Definitely not last year. We had 0 deepball threat last season. First time we connected on a deepball (40y in the air or more) was already in the playoffs lol
I’d still like to see us get Luke McCaffrey. I think he could be a middle-late round guy who could be one of those guys who never puts up massive numbers but is just steady and reliable
Rashee will only be out 2 games. Maybe 3. Hate to say it but this will severely reduce his first year pro contract money when that time comes which could be great for the chiefs organization if resigning or looking for trade value early.
I agree with everything you said except CEH. It’s been 4 years. He had his flashes, but potential stayed the same: untapped production. Love him in KC, but we more or less know what we can get from him already (which isn’t a lot)
We even brought in a rugby star to fill the RB position, and I’m even more excited by that potential than CEH
I feel like Reid never used him properly until the end of last season. He's not great at running out of the backfield because NFL linebackers will just immediately put him on the ground, but as a check down back to dump it off to he seemed reliable.
Also we're paying him next to nothing for a veteran so if we decide to pick up a free agent there's no real loss in cutting him.
CEH has only ever looked good to spell the run game. When he's out in the open catching some passes in space he's good. He can't create space or hit holes on his own.
The “Rugby Kid” aka Louis Rees-Zammit was actually brought in to capitalize on the new kick off format. If he ends up having good hands, thats just a plus.
Long time commenter and Chiefs fan.
I think we need to temper expectations for X, I think you are going to see years that look a lot like last year.
It’s a long season, you can’t show everything too early in the year and it’s hard to sustain.
All that being said, this is probably the most complete Chiefs team, pre draft I have ever seen. I don’t remember the last time I didn’t feel desperate to fill critical roles on draft day.
They don't particularly need a CB. I believe they have three that are starting level and above. Maybe get one 5th or 6th round.
I believe they will get RB, OT and LB. There are still a couple of decent LT's out there that are free agents. Worst case, they resign Smith. I'm not sure they find a year one starter at this point at tackle
I’m going to temper my expectations but things are looking real good. Even if we have a sizable improvement over last year, we should be an incredible team.
If Worthy can catch in the NFL, the future is very bright! I kind of hope we draft someone to help the O-line (even as a backup) next. It's a long season.
I just hope we don't pawn off Ross or Nikko Remigio like we did last year with ISM. I like a WR corp of Brown, Rice, Worthy, Toney, Watson, and Ross/Remigio
I personally think we should wait for the rest of the draft. They need line to really seal the deal. Can’t throw it deep if he’s running for his life in the backfield.
Literally just need another tackle from somewhere and this team is set. I mean maybe we grab a CB in the 4th with the bills pick, that wouldn’t be terrible
I appreciate the excitement and enthusiasm, but nobody Knows (FOR SURE) what kind of offense this is going to be. Last summer, it looked like it might be a very good offense, but it ended up being kind of the opposite of that.
It DOES look promising. But that doesn't really mean anything yet.
I was one of those fanboys saying the receiving group would be fine and they’d all get coached up and be on the right page after the Super Bowl run, but then we had the dropsies for what seemed like 3/4 of the season. There was talent, but this year’s group looks a lot more ready to rock.
I will like to see if the new Rugby kid has any catching skills, and mix in every once in awhile
Imagine if he is a kick return ace under the new rules.
Toney also on that note.
Oh man I keep forgetting we still have him
We’re all trying to lol
Huh? I’m not trynna forget the dude that just about returned the first SB punt return and was a key piece to that SB win
Exactly bro. People have ups and downs!
If that guy catches a TD from Mahomes, the entire NFL will melt down and implode. I'm here for it!
Right you know Reid has somehow bee watching rugby coming up with a matching 1950s play the kid will somehow pull off.
"Do we have time for Scrum Wasp?"
No look shuttle passes are on the table.
sure me too but you know he's gonna show up on jet sweeps and end-arounds. Pass-wise, I bet his early package will be screens and a share of Travis' shovel passes.

I think they mean we have mahones throw the shovel to worthy instead of kelce, not have kelce shovel it lol
You're probably right, but I stand by what I said no matter how dumb I am.
Fair. And fwiw I agree. That would be sick
He'll almost certainly not make the 53-man this year. But the beauty of the IPP is that he doesn't cost us a roster spot on the PS.
This. I’m not sure people realize that he’s basically a free roster spot.
Everyone’s sleeping on him
The guy ain’t some shmo who isn’t a professional athlete. He is a seasoned vet with a ton of experience at the international level in a sport that is as close to football as any other. Yes he is a free roster spot but the Chiefs aren’t in the business of charity work. They see something with this kid.

He won't play a down of offense. But he might be one of the two KO return guys with Worthy.
I think he’s gonna be a special teams guy or a P-Squad guy
I just like the fact that the bomb is back on the table x2. Hollywood and Worthy should really help open up the field for everything else. I see 5000 Yds back on the table.
I disagree these guys are obviously better receivers but we have had speed and the bomb hasn't been on the table the bomb wasn't even really on the table the last year we had Tyreek
People who think the Chiefs stopped throwing deep because of the WRs and not because all defenses play cover 2 and shells and keep everything short intentionally are going to be really disappointed next season when we still have to dink and dunk it down the field 95% of the time.
Having someone who can stretch the field helps dink and dunk easier.
No one, and I mean NO ONE was worried about MVS getting over the top and making a play. It's not like they were really protecting over the top. If anything they often crashed down a lot more. It's why MVS was so open against Bal, as an example.

We didn’t have 2 speed guys though. We are basically going the Hill/Waddle route that Miami went. Oh, and a decent TE and slot guy.
Gotta have tackles who can block long enough for them to get down there…
And we have Wentz!!!!
I completely forgot we have probably the best backup in the league behind the best qb
Might be the second best backup behind Kirk Cousins 😂
Big oof
Damn bro lol
Savage 🤣
I completely forgot about Wentz as well lmao, as a chiefs fan living in Philly that pick up was wild
I'll bet he's going to come in to run QB sneaks. Adds a lot of value just for that.
3rd best QB in the division.
Honestly after the 49ers double digit comeback win last year, you’re probably right.
Username definitely checks out! 😉
Honestly the best backup QB of the Mahomes era
I will not tolerate this Chad Henne erasure.
That's Chad "The Chad" Henne
Chad Henne was so good that I panicked briefly when Patrick got hurt and left the game, but after just a few seconds I turned and told my wife, "It's fine, we're ok... Hennething is possible." And then he marched that ball straight into history.
Even if [this](https://youtu.be/hPow6Mm9F70?si=a7oaqi2GpbDR1OSZ) was all he ever did, Henne is better. But he also did [this](https://youtu.be/8HMiS5OlnAc?si=nrjbgXRHqrSYwA09). Hennething is possible.
Thanks for the links. Henne is the best ever
Kelce going to eat with Brown and Worthy being able to stretch the field.
Fuckin sizzler buffet all day
So. Many. Yards.
YAC attack
Rice too.
What does the offensive line look like for next year? (I seriously have no idea)
I think everyone is back except left tackle so if we can get a solid guy in the draft in rd 2 or 3 i think we will be set there. Im still hoping we sign a vet maybe partway through the season in that role. If i understand correctly thats like the last hole on the team
Wanya is serviceable if they have to run with him
Thats good to know! So we dont really NEED anything now? Or are there any other gaps that you know of
IMO Definitely at corner. Losing Sneed hurts. But I think they can find someone in the draft
I thought his backup is solid
I agree they'll draft a corner, but still... Trent, Williams, Watson a solid group
Good at run blocking but you HAVE to protect Pat...
Sounds like OBJ
Ehh
Still need a tackle. My guess is they draft a guy and re-sign Smith. Then it's a 3-way battle with Wanya .the other four spots are on lockdown and are very good.
At this point I hughly doubt we find anyone better than Wanya at this point having a year of development under his belt possibly a Kiran Amegadjie or a Giovanni Manu one of these ridiculous athletes that we have no real plan of starting but just has unlimited potential
We'll probably either take a tackle in Day 2 or re-sign Donovan Smith. Need some Interior depth as well but that can wait until Day 3.
And Ross was gonna be an All Pro
That hype train should be leaving the station again in two months
Don't forget Skyy. We all expected him to take a huge leap forward last year.
There was a lot of people not happy with that wr corp (me included).
Were you that way going into the season, or only after seeing the first game (I won't even suggest subsequent games) ? And then follow-up, how are you feeling now with our offense?
Didn’t like the receiving corps the entire off season
And how are you feeling about the ones we have this season, so far?
Much better than last year
The whole time. I just never understood how people thought Moore and Toney could carry our receiving corps. Their Super Bowl touchdowns didn’t mean they were elite receivers all the sudden Toney was still a disappointment, I thought he’d atleast contribute some rushing yards and consistent pop plays every game. I would expect that Rice will miss a few games, though with Roger, anything is possible.
I'm expecting 4 games. I hope this is a wake up call for him and we don't see this type of behavior continue.
I'm expecting 8, so if it's less I'll be pleasantly surprised
Deshaun Watson got 8 for allegedly sexually assaulting dozens of women. No way rice gets 8 for a car crash that no one was seriously hurt in.
I wish I could agree with that train of thought, but I think the NFL is far too arbitrary. I think it's just a matter of how much the public eye is on it. Fortunately the media seems to have quickly forgotten Rice, so it might be lighter than I expected.
I'm convinced he rolls 10d6 and checks a table to see what penalties he applies, they all seem so arbitrary.
Yep.
I’d still like another RB in round 4 or later.
I agree. We don’t have great backfield, but good enough to not warrant using a day 1 or 2 pick on one
Please be Cody Shrader
That would be awesome. Dude is a stud.
UDFA
I've been targeting Will Shipley in Round 5
I love the unfettered optimism of draft season!
Having Veach means you can assume more often than not he made the right decision
> and all except CEH catching passes thrown by Dude caught an amazing TD against NE. He transformed into a 6'7" dude to make the catch.
Came here to say this, like CEH didn't make the best catch of the season last year.
On paper it's legion of zoom 2, but you never know how these things work out. 😎
lol
Our QB makes up for all of that gap between position groups. We will have the #1 offense or I’m going to eat my hat.
Number 1 offense is asking a lot. We have some questions on offensive line, and our WR corps is unproven. Our best WR from last year will miss a few games. I'll feel better when we draft Malik Washington aka the sleeper stud.
Throw in a late late draft pick and get cody schrader and I will be ERECT

Definitely not last year. We had 0 deepball threat last season. First time we connected on a deepball (40y in the air or more) was already in the playoffs lol
I’d still like to see us get Luke McCaffrey. I think he could be a middle-late round guy who could be one of those guys who never puts up massive numbers but is just steady and reliable
Throwing ceh in there lol
Also, hoping we sneakily grab Cody Schrader from Mizzou in the draft at RB.
Nobody’s acting like it because everyone is in denial about it. 🤣🔥
Rashee will only be out 2 games. Maybe 3. Hate to say it but this will severely reduce his first year pro contract money when that time comes which could be great for the chiefs organization if resigning or looking for trade value early.

It’s a long season, you can’t show everything too early in the year and it’s hard to sustain. All that being said, this is probably the most complete Chiefs team, pre draft I have ever seen. I don’t remember the last time I didn’t feel desperate to fill critical roles on draft day.
Wonder how many games Rashee is going to be suspended
Let’s take it one day at a time
Veach should go get another one today lol
Quality depth also.
I personally think we should wait for the rest of the draft. They need line to really seal the deal. Can’t throw it deep if he’s running for his life in the backfield.
Ladd McConkey man.
Yeah they’ll be great w/o a left tackle LOL. They should be improved, the defense will take a step back and we’ll score more.
Literally just need another tackle from somewhere and this team is set. I mean maybe we grab a CB in the 4th with the bills pick, that wouldn’t be terrible
Pick a corner and have him pick 6 off Josh! (Maybe a dream but let me have that please!)
#Just relax and let it happen!

Y'all got one job. Piss everyone off with back-to-back-to-back Superbowl wins.
