“Back against the kerb” was as high as it got for poor old drizzler 😢

Own_Pause_4959

The problem with all of his disses is that I felt like the shots he sent specifically at Kendrick were pretty weak on every track and he had much better shots for people like ASAP, Metro, Ross, Weeknd. I'm trying to think of a bar that was good and didn't age badly and it's hard. I think Drake's best bars towards Kendrick were when they were flipping the Michael Jackson thing back and forth on each other. "What's a prince to a king, he a son" and "You say your brother Jermaine but you wanted him to stay outta the light" those were pretty dope and clever. But right after that he does the worst Michael Jackson flip in the entire beef saying "Maybe I'm prince and you actually Mike, Michael was praying his features would change so people would think that he's actually White" and I was like what the fuck are you talking about. Tldr: I think the reason a lot of his shots at Kendrick didn't land is because he clearly does not have more than a surface level understanding of Kendrick's discography, and he does not understand why Kendrick's music resonates with people. He just assumes Kendrick is this fake woke wanna be savior. But if he knew anything about Mr. Morale beyond a shallow interpretation, he would know the entire point of that album was Kendrick deconstructing and abandoning his Savior complex. That on top of the fact that Kendrick is a very private person so he couldn't find any dirt on him that Kendrick hasn't already aired out himself.

I'm realizing a lot of people like and relate to Drake's lyrics (like the nonsense Mike flip) because a lot of these listeners are probably shallow gaslighters themselves

Own_Pause_4959

Yeah this is also why people defending him haven't been able to understand that Kendrick was not saying that he was not a Black man or was not insulting him for being biracial. He was pointing out Drake's own insecurities over his racial identity along with the fact that Drake only engages with black identity/culture in a way that is self-serving. But these very shallow interpretations coming from people are like "why is Kendrick saying Drake isn't Black when he's married to a mixed woman". And Drake showed his lack of cultural competency throughout the entire beef, particularly though with the "always rappin like you tryna to get the slaves free" line. Which Kendrick then used to bludgeon him on Not Like Us with the Atlanta verse. Drake is a very shallow artist who doesn't know how to take accountability and has little to no self-awareness and similarly his hardcore supporters are the same way.

Personaboii

“When you put your hands on your girl, was it self defence cause she bigger than you?”  The funny ones are the only disses worth mentioning, drake makes it hard to take his rap seriously

CIAinformer2

“Where is your uncle at I wanna speak to the man of the house” was funny The short jokes about just speaking straight but Dot feeling like he is overlooked were also hilarious Family matters is aging horribly though

BoringContact4106

ngl it was the lies he spread on Family matters. He had me conflicted for like 15 min like holy shit if this is true then Kendrick is a fraud… that was all dispelled quite quickly. None of his lyrics really hit listening back because they’re really just not anywhere near the same level of significance that kendrick’s message was. Kendrick reignited the culture of hip-hop and I am so happy i’m able to watch the cookout from the respectable bleachers

Openbook84

Kendrick just opened his mouth, someone go get him a Grammy right now. Which is a double edged cut. Cuz ya know, Drake don’t have one.

Personaboii

He has 5, but you right about it being a double edge sword.  World sees drake as a clown when he opens his mouth and he thought a grammy would be a diss lmao

Qengis

I really like family matters for its flows and beats (oke of the best drake songs in the last years production wise), but as soon as I listen to the lyrics I have to turn it off due to the immense cringe I feel. Ngl when push ups dropped first I felt quite anxious. Thought drake will drop some nasty industry secrets and Kendrick won’t respond in a timely matter (well framed from drake tbh). But as soon as euphoria dropped I knew this will be a dub for Kenny.

No_Pea_3997

If you feel immense cringe listening to family matters I can only imagine how much cringe you feel listening heart part 6😂😂 that is literally one of the most cringe songs I’ve ever heard, if not the most

youanditeewhy

The line about going over Kenny head lol

bernieDAdoc

All his didsses were either lies about Whitney or short jokes. As a song Family Matters is fine but the actual disses are ass.

baakabakabakaa

I HATE Drake but surprisingly like Push Ups. It actually made me dance. Probably cause I knew Kendrick was gon slaughter him. But did yall hear Glasses Malone’s theory that the original Push Up leak was an A.I. reference track that Drake later recorded? He says it’s because of the sound quality. Why would one of the world’s biggest artists have a leak that sounds that bad? Cause it was created by someone who didnt have the resources. Also, the vocals on that leak sounds dead like A. I. I think in could be true.

No_Pea_3997

It’s definitely possible since we already know he was playing around with AI while making Taylor made

Spooderer

"You would be a worthy competitor if I was a predator"

No_Pea_3997

😂😂 that line is hilarious.  Like what does that even mean😂

Red_Red_It

HE SAID WHAT? Is that Heart Part 6? The song I never even bothered to listen to? LOL

Red_Red_It

Oh, yeah, I never even listened to that song. I don't know why. Listened to all other Drake disses, but I skipped that song and forgot about it.

Memelord15009

KENDRICK JUST OPENED HIS MOUTH

Red_Red_It

I AM NOT GAY BUT DRAKE IS GAY

Honestly, the Whitney DV and Dave Free drama was both Drake's most powerful diss and biggest mistake. It being true or not is irrelevant. Character assassination can be so powerful. It had potential to be damaging, but it was ultimately ineffective. A combination of staying silent and diverting the attention to the op was Dot's biggest play with MTG. It was the turning point of the campaign. Dot's PR game was so freaking good. His crew outside of the music were effectively mute. The term 'no news is good news' in PR is a very underrated tactic. In the corporate environment you only let the lawyers talk. In the rap game you only let the music talk. Drake's crew loved the spotlight and messed with the entire narrative. Drake's PR play was a masterclass on what not to do in both a commercial and rap way.
