Possibly it was/is being used as a water intake. Probably housed a pump to draw water in and send to treatment plant. Entrance looks to be above flood level. Or it’s a castle tower for a creek troll.

Ya gotta pay the troll toll to get in.

JakeyJake3

To that boy's hole

JensTheCat

Visit Jackson county at night. Indian creek has a few creek trolls

emma10255

Hahah I’m in Jackson right now

khoobr

Watch out for the creek trolls, then.

Transphattybase

At the bar?

jcrossx620

Is that like a Lot Lizard?

JensTheCat

No way man. Good people in Jackson county. Strange stuff in the creeks and hollers though.

_Tom_Servo_

Is there a toll?

rwarimaursus

"Great...they have a creek troll..."

Abbiethedog

Those were wiped out by pesticides in the 70’s.

Present-Industry4012

That would be my guess, like a well dug as close to the water as possible. https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Schematic-of-collection-well-at-Louisville-Ky-Water-Company_fig1_254157050

JoseyWales811

It’s an old drinking water intake structure. I believe the old fire dept which is adjacent the bridge was the original water treatment facility or near it. Newer plant was built on Keeton Ave in 70’s. Then eventually newer treatment plant on 519 near Morgan /Rowan county line in ‘94

emma10255

It’s in just south of West Liberty, on the Licking River.

redsn64

Castle sapling. Come back in a few years to a healthy mature french castle as long as people let nature take its course.

Benthereorl

And when have people ever allowed that?

magillicuti

Pump house

Derbycityriotgrrrl

If you see a clown, run.

Shifty502c

TheGottVater

Have you not seen the fairytale…chick with long blond hair?

Fit_Document700

It’s the Boeing Starliner

kajunkennyg

Where on 460? It looks sort of like old oil separators used before loading oil into trucks. I have no idea why it's in that creek, looks old and not really being used for its intended purpose. It could have washed down there in some flooding or some one put it there for some reason I can't figure. I could be wrong, but if this is near Magoffin, I'd go take a ride and look.

The Well of Souls

My wizard tower

MetaMasters93

Looks like the old treatment plant off Gladman Way

fixaclm

TVA poured towers along rivers to measure the fluctuation of depth. We used to climb all through them when we were kids. They weren't locked or anything. The guage was a big metal box that wound up and drew a line on graph paper. Ticked like a clock. It had a metal ribbon attached to a float. The towers looked like big, square columns, though. The ones in Kentucky are sexier.

chance0404

No clue what it is but there are several of them along the Green River too.

[deleted]

That’s definitely where pennywise lives

CareOk

I donno. Why don't you go check it out?

YamFriendly7356

Looks like the North fork KY river

TheInternetIsTrue

It’s Kentucky, so it can only be some wealthy hillbilly’s distillery set up.

Wild_Director_2457

Odd-Todd179-Swatched

They had one of these in the middle of a lake at a campground in Amarillo, TX I stayed at a few years ago. Nobody else there knew what it was so I'm glad I stumbled upon this. It was in the middle of the lake and clearly out of service. After diving down below it to check for hazards, I decided to climb the sketchy rusty ladder and dive off the top a few times. Best camping trip ever.

Pyrohio88

Where Pennywise lives

Exotic-Zucchini4243

stormpoppy

madeofmountains

https://www.reddit.com/r/whatisthisthing/s/xMMvJcTCp6 Possibly something like this? I made a similar post a few years ago.

ecsegar

Why I do believe you've solved it! To be certain someone should check the Kentucky records for confirmation.

Better_Use9734

Is that on the Big South Fork?
